I recommend the guided tours which even if they are only in English for those who speak even a little are understandable and in any case for the other languages they give a supplement in paper with the explanation

Shakespeare's Globe Theater in London is exact replica (other than the straw roof) of the original theater that burned down. Even though it's newly built, the look and feel of the theater is amazing and contributes to epic feel of seeing a play here. This was on my bucket list. I purchased tickets in advance for this year's visit to London - I saw Henry VI. Last time I was in London I couldn't get tickets because they sell out so quickly. Overall, tickets are affordable, starting with lowest priced 5 pound standing tickets to seating tickets ranging from 20 -100 pounds. I had 2nd floor balcony tickets. Cushions are available for rent at 1 pound each and trust me - you will need/want those. Being the exact replica of the old theater, the seats are really just a long wooden bench; quite uncomfortable. The show is 3 hours long. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase and can be brought up with you to the theater. Overall, the show is outstanding and even though they don't only show Shakespeare plays, go see one and you won't regret it. The actors are superb, the production very simple (so nowhere to hide), and some plays are interactive (like that girl in the audience that got a full blown french kiss by one of the actors during the show I saw). The theater is located in Bankside area of London, which is quite beautiful. It's close to London's Borough Market, which is a great place to sample really great food. The Swan restaurant, which is adjacent to the theater also offers food, but can get very packed. Tours of the theater are also available (went on one couple of years ago) and are great way to learn more about history of the theater and Shakespeare.
Great every time It doesn't matter if you go for the first or the twenty first time, every visit is special. The actors are having fun and the audience feels involved and engaged. This is theater at its very best and one of the real crown jewels of London.
Very educational and fun too. History was shared but kept the interest of the audience. Only short tour and slightly pricey therefore but thoroughly enjoyable.
Went to see Hamlet very contempry production, but superb never watched a better perfomance and I have watched 5 different ways of showing the bards classic
An asset to British theatres. Amazing shows with an authentic experience of what Elizabethan/Jacobean audiences would have seen. As the standing gallery is subject to the elements, I'd recommend bringing a coat just in case!
I went here on a school trip and it was really good, even though we did have to stand up because my school bought tickets for the standing area instead of the seats.
The toilets were nice and clean and the play we watched was also very good.
Despite being a reconstruction, it is worth visiting. Photogenic on the outside and inside. Guided tours are performed in addition to a comedy programming of Sheaspeare works
Another great place to learn about the Bard! Guided tours run about every 30 minutes and well worth doing and learning more about the times of Elizabeth the First and Shakespeare. The Globe is based on the original theatre and not a bad seat in the house. If visiting during performance season take in a show as there is always a twist to it either in costumes or props.
Went to Shakespeare s Globe during my short stay in London for the Little Match Girl which is an amazing play. The team is not very big but every artist has had an excellent performance by demonstrating different talents and worked so well as a team! I love this unplugged type of performance and it s always exciting to see a bit of creative and modern twist on the original story. Would highly recommend!
A great venue for a performance. Authentic Elizabethan experience includes an open roof and wooden benches (do rent the seat cushions!) Lovely location on the river--get there early to enjoy the view.
Saw romeo and Juliet here. Had a fab evening. The theater itself is superb, the production was excellent. The view out over the thames to st Paul's is breathtaking.
We were very entertained at the Globe theatre tour. The tour facilitator was very witty and informative throughout. I learned so much about Shakespeare and many background information about the Globe theater and England back in the day. The tour may have only lasted under an hour.
Theater rebuilt in the 90s according to Shakespeare's canons, means and technique The guided tour is highly recommended, even if it is only in English Special praise goes to Ffi, our guide, very nice and competent
Rather a successful reconstruction, but a bit longish story of the actor playing the guide. Quite interesting Shakespeare's museum as part of sightseeing. The average price of tickets.
The guide Jane was entertaining and knowledgeable. Her voice was so lovely to listen to. The theatre itself as a 'replica of what is thought to have been' was really interesting and would be awesome to watch a performance here.
Interesting. Suitable for watching a good play. Maybe for the people who were standing it was too long. A pity in my case I could not see the work until the end.
A genuinely immersive Shakespearean experience. Bargain prices for standing in the yard, which is OK if the play is not too long. Be prepared for the cold or the rain depending on the time of year. Look out for the period details in the building and expect to get up close to the actors. Fascinating.
What an amazing experience. Historic, original and a must see. Inspirational directing, Mark Rylance and beyond. How to bring C17th literature to a modern audience.
Amazing place. Real sense of history, great acoustics and atmosphere. Nice cafe and the attached Swan pub has great views and service while enjoying a drink. Standing tickets while putting you at the heart of the action are a feat of endurance.
A journey back in time, this theatre recreates a bygone era with an oaken structure and thatched roof. The tour guide Stephanie was interesting in the explanation of Shakespeare's age and contemporary theatre
Great recreation of the original theatre. Tickets are not cheaps and seats are not comfortable but this is authentic. Of course check the weather and be ready as it is open air so even if under the roof, you will get hot, cold, wet or whatever.
Whatever the show, I didn't undertand anything the first time I went, it is well worth going. Also don't forget the museum next door for which your ticket will give you a discount.
Although it is a reconstruction of the original theater, destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666, in the land of Shakespeare his visit is obligatory. A bonus would be to attend a performance, if they have the time to do so.
Our tour guide was amazing. She was a great story teller and knew all the important facts to help us imagine how the Globe theater and the people who went there would have been originally. I will be coming back to see a performance here as soon as I can.
