As a long-time teacher of Shakespeare, it was not only very instructive to see "Julius Caesar" performed in the Globe, but unexpectedly moving, as well. The staging in this environment was energetic and very lively; the actors appearing from among the audience for the crowd scenes gave the play a dynamic almost improvised feel that was edgy and entertaining. The facility itself - including the seating - was not only very serviceable (there was something about sitting as they'd sat 400 years ago that made creature comforts secondary!), but made the theatre itself a part of what was interesting and entertaining too. The attendants and guides were cheerful, polite and well-informed about the theatre and the play. It was an excellent experience, all-round and one that we hope to repeat.

We did a tour of the Globe and saw "Hamlet" preformed there and loved every second. We booked tour tickets the night before online and got to skip the line. The tour was about an hour and the tour guide was lovely. She really knew her stuff and was enthusiastic the entire time. "Hamlet" was spectacular! The actors nailed the performance and brought to life the Hamlet that I know and love.

Sorry I asked that stupid question about Doctor Who, but it's so cool!!! It was winter time when I was there so there's no out door play. I believe that would be a life time experience.

Great theater with a historical touch. Very easy to imagine how people of all walks of life enjoyed Shakespeares works in his time. I watched Henry V with my family - definitely recommend getting a cushion for 2 pounds or bringing one if you have seated tickets. I also recommend getting tickets early if going in the summer (we went end of June) - I booked mine 2-3 months in advance online for good seats.
There are captions during the performance as well for accessibility, but I ended up finding them very useful as well, having never read Henry V before.

Love their family events, always inspiring and reasonably priced. Great way to introduce Shakespeare to young kids. They are getting better and better with their educational side with new basement dedicated to kids.

A must-do experience in London. The theatre is a self-founded institution founded in the centre of a city, not receiving helps from it, though giving spectacular shows wich depict the passion and compromise that unites the actors and producers. Real love for theatre, not saying other places don't, but here I could find art in it's real form, defending de fence. I will go back and as I did, take people with me too.

I have always loved my trips to the globe even on the occasions I haven't liked the performance so much. I have never stood in the groundlings are always had a seat and tried to get one where you can lean you back against the rear wall of the theatre particularly if you are getting on in years. Three hours on a bench with only a cushion can wear you out. Also applies to the jewel like atmospheric candle lit Wanamaker theatre.

I went to see Hamlet with standing tickets. This is such a great value way to enjoy theatre. You are completely immersed in the action and very close to the stage. In this performance the stand out actors for me were King Claudius who came across across across really villainous politician and Polonius who was strangely sympathetic. It was also clever to play Rozencrantz and Gildenstern as a deaf person with their interpreter.

This was our first visit to The Globe and we were very impressed. We watched Richard II ,and it was amazingly performed by the actors. My wife is disabled and we were concerned about getting to our seats.
However we found the staff extremely helpful and went beyond 100% to ensure we had a good visit.
Thank you we shall be revisiting.

The theater is very nice and there are guided tours every 15 minutes; They are only in English. There they will tell you the story of this third balloon, so yes, this was not Shakespeare's theater, but it was designed in the same way and is about 300 meters from where the original was. Also during your visit you can surely see the actors rehearsing. Interesting fact, the theater is outdoors, yes, the seats and the stage have half a ceiling, but the patio, where you observe the work standing, is completely outdoors. As in the time of Shakespeare, the works are represented in the afternoon, that is, there will always be sunlight that illuminates, for works like Hamlet that starts the action at midnight, what they do is play twelve chimes to place us in the night. It is also interesting how some sounds are made, for example thunder, which is rolling an old cannonball on the floor woods after the stage. It is a recommended visit

If you're a Shakespeare fan you have to visit this place.
TBH, it gives me the chills just seeing it from the bridges or the North Bank.
Such an Iconic building.

A real authentic Shakespearean experience. Just be ready to stand for some time.

Really lovely theatre. Was my first time, was a side part of the globe, it was very intimate as it was very small, some of the view was restricted though from where we were standing. Saw Othello, which was very well acted out, lighting was only done by candle light which added to the ambience.

Visited this place on 10th August, 2019. Indeed a great Honour to the Literary GENIUS of our times and a place to enjoy watching the Drama performances in its full spirit. The most acclaimed ones being Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, Merchant of Vince, Midsummer's Night Dream........

Absolutely amazing performance!

Absolutely amazing performance!
Actors were fantastic, as well as the people you don't see, musicians & stage crew.
Superb stage directing & choreography.
It was our second visit to the Globe & the location only adds to the atmosphere.
Felt truly blessed to see such a great performance of Romero & Juilette.
Shakespeare.........Pure genius!

I did the tour in the morning and saw A Midsummer night's dream in the evening. The tour was very interesting. Our guide, Javier, was very knowledgeable and seeing a rehearsal going on was fascinating too.
The play was brilliant...I have seen a few productions of this play and this was by far the funniest- very different but it worked!
I would definitely recommend you visit this theatre ... make sure you hire or take a cushion with you if you are seated ( and a Mac if standing if the London weather is dodgy!!).

An uneasy compromise between a tourist attraction and a theatre but one where everyone will find something to like. Cheap tickets are great if they encourage people to come and see plays, less so if after 15 seconds watching they tick that box on their itinerary and leave. Their loss because the performances are thrilling and original. See the Henrys while you can!

Such a gorgeous venue for some of the Bard's finest!

The open-air creates a perfect atmosphere and if you go to a show that's right before sunset, it's just golden hour where the lighting is perfect, smoke is drifting around, and the banners are flapping.

Great shows here, and the current Titus performance is not to be missed. People are literally fainting away from how intense the show is.

Not recommended to people with little to no interest in Shakespeare and theater. The ticket is 17 pounds for adult and the tour lasts 40 minutes. The tour guides explains the history of Shakespeare in great detail, assuming that we are all well educated about theater. I expected to learn about Shakespearean drama, unfortunately I was quickly bored by the constant use of jargon and Shakespeare quotes. You are also not allowed to wonder around inside the globe, taking pictures on your own for longer than 10 minutes. Overall, I am disappointed with the experience.

Went for an evening performance of As You Like It and it was absolutely wonderful. Remember to rug up in the evening as it gets cold and the back row of the gallery is great as you can lean back on the wall. A London must do!

My wife & I were given a Globe theatre tour as a gift by our son, which we
attended on Saturday 10/09/16 at 1.30 pm.

Neither of us are theatre-goers (I have personally never even seen a play, other than those presented by schools attended by my children!) & knew very little about either Shakespeare, or indeed 'The Globe', other than we thought that it was the original theatre! (we were obviously mistaken!).

Our tour guide (I believe his name was Callum?) was fantastic! Very passionate & knowledgeable & with such a great, well-spoken English accent, we could have happily listened to him all day! From the way he spoke, his very detailed knowledge & obvious passion for 'The Globe' & theatre in general, we both thought he must be an actor himself?

In addition, we were very impressed with the theatre itself. Being in 'property maintenance' myself, I was also very impressed by the quality of the workmanship, the attention to detail & lengths to which the theatre had been faithfully rebuilt (as far as was possible) to both the original specifications & using the correct methods & materials.

We would highly recommend the tour to anyone & our only regret was that we didn't have time to see a play!
