Steve Kramer Review of Shakespeare's Globe

My wife & I were given a Globe theatre tour as a gift by our son, which we
attended on Saturday 10/09/16 at 1.30 pm.
Neither of us are theatre-goers (I have personally never even seen a play, other than those presented by schools attended by my children!) & knew very little about either Shakespeare, or indeed 'The Globe', other than we thought that it was the original theatre! (we were obviously mistaken!).
Our tour guide (I believe his name was Callum?) was fantastic! Very passionate & knowledgeable & with such a great, well-spoken English accent, we could have happily listened to him all day! From the way he spoke, his very detailed knowledge & obvious passion for 'The Globe' & theatre in general, we both thought he must be an actor himself?
In addition, we were very impressed with the theatre itself. Being in 'property maintenance' myself, I was also very impressed by the quality of the workmanship, the attention to detail & lengths to which the theatre had been faithfully rebuilt (as far as was possible) to both the original specifications & using the correct methods & materials.
We would highly recommend the tour to anyone & our only regret was that we didn't have time to see a play!
