Just came back from a conference here. The location is gorgeous if the pool is a bit small. Banquet staff was great but redcoats provided uneven service. Mike from PSAV was spectacular, it was a joy working with him. My colleague raved about the Tequila Bar and the lobby restaurant was terrific. Room was gorgeous, I had a great marina and city view on a high floor. The hotel is enormous and a bit confusing at time, could use more staff to direct people but overall it was a great experience.

From check in to check out I was so disappointed on how the quality of service was and the rooms. I was insulted by being called a Mr. because of the spelling of my name, i wasnt offered water like every other guest at check in around me, I get to my room to be baked at 85 degrees. I send a message downstairs to be insulted again asking if i knew how to turn on the air conditioning control box, i explained that the air controller did not work nor display, and when i was able to get it to work it made a loud noise unbearable. The room had no toiletries or soap to wash my hands, no towels and was not cleaned properly, no water in the room for the coffee machine, after finally leaving the room and allowing them time to take care of all this, i come back to the television not working. The next morning i take a shower to see the towel rod is broken, I have to say for 350 a night for the first night and 189 the second night i definitely would not recommend it. I was mortified by the level of service i received from this hotel. I asked for the managers card from the front desk and he hands me one covered in sticky slop all over it, I would have never done that, lack of perception of value to customers, presentation, managerial skills, customer service skills, all lacking.

Not the 4 star 'platinum' level hotel I remember. Stayed here multiple times in the past, but my last stay over New Year's was nothing like I remembered. From the broken glass on my rooms patio, to the hot tubs BOTH being loaded with children all hours of the day, it was not the same experience. No microwave or mini fridge in the room, and unlike other (much less expensive) Marriott's, No internet TV.

Employees are very polite and helpful and the view is Fantastic!

Overall great hotel, I would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation. I would like to start by thanking Christine at the check in counter for all her help that made my experience at the Marriott enjoyable and due to her I would definitely be returning to this Marriott again. The interior and exterior we're beautiful. The rooms were nice, modern, and very clean. The pool area was a great place to relax and grab some drinks.

Great hotel. Very central, on the water and boardwalk. Room was good but not great. The door didn't open to the balcony properly. Be warned that this hotel is VERY busy when there is a convention going on there. But it's clean and nice. Food was great everywhere I went.

Went to Tequila Bar and Grille (pool side bar) while in the area and stayed for a few drinks. Not only was it right next door to the convention center, but also walking distance to Seaport Village and the Gaslamp.

Worst Marriott in SD.

Worst Marriott in SD.
Just kidding, its my favorite Marriott in SD, but dont go there and take up all the rooms!

Pool amazing, rooms immaculate, in room yoga genius, view bitchen, elevators fast, bar crowded, front desk fast, bed comfy, canned cocktails at Market Pantry(I forgot its name) elixlerating, vegan bar delicious, gluten free veggie pizza garlicy and hearty, location phenominal.

Ive stayed at all Marriotts in SD. This one is the best.

Location is great. Rooms are typical Marriott, but being they charge high prices for everything. 25 per day destination charge. 35 per night for self parking. Also, because of the size, the customer service isn't great. I had the misfortune of staying when a race was going on outside. I asked the front at 3pm when it would end because I was going to switch hotels because the music could be heard loudly in my room on the 24th floor. They told me 8 or 9, which I could deal with. The music finally stopped past 3. I complained the next day and they kinda shrugged and said oops. To sum up, good location, okay rooms, indifferent service.

Have yet to stay in the hotel, but have to several events in the building. Staff has always been welcoming and friendly. I have had guests from out of town stay and they enjoyed thier time relaxing by the pool, while taking advantage of the outdoor bar.

Was attending an event held in one of their ballrooms. Been here before and the service staff was great. But this year the waitress we had was not good. She was not very attentive to our table. She also liked to skip people when serving them. Not sure how she decides who to serve first.

Lovely hotel. Great staff, clean. North tower has balconies. The older meeting rooms could use some refresh and the odd angles can cause some difficulties with AV. Standard rooms are a little small, but updated.

Very nice hotel. They gave me a beautiful room with a high floor and overlooking the water (marina). I have stayed in other hotels in other cities and they wanted $50/night for such an upgrade. I laud the Marriott for giving me a great room for free and this was on top of letting me
check in to my room at like 10-11 AM. Also, they had an app and you could order toiletries and such via the app.

One of my favorite hotels in San Diego for views and service. Rooms are smaller then average hotel rooms, but beautifully modern and updated for tech like hdmi cables and plug-ins for phone chargers.

Big monolithic futuristic mirrored curved buildings next to the convention center. Well-run, but hardly an intimate get-away with crowds of people coming and going. Good location and good views on higher floors.

Josh Gates, Archeocon's first annual convention at the Marriot. Everyone was so kind, even when I got lost trying to find the exit to the parking structure. Had me a blast though, just wish that they had more signs to direct you to the parking garage.

Came to San Diego for Easter weekend with family and the Mariott Marquis was our hotel choice. We really enjoyed our stay here and the included amenities.

Found the staff to be helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area. Rooms and hotel were very clean and family/kid friendly. I especially enjoyed the pool and bars throughout. . This hotel has great views, restuarants, and plenty of shops for buying/browsing. 5-stars for Mariott Marquis!

I was there for an event where we were promised parking vouchers, and the hotel event coordinator did not provide enough vouchers to the people hosting the event, and neither the event coordinators, nor the valet desk would honor the promised parking rates. I was at the hotel for 3 hours and then parking fee was over 30 dollars. Will not recommend.

Price: 60$ is 1/5th the cost of 300$.

Price: 60$ is 1/5th the cost of 300$.

Wifi: I was there for a business reason. I needed to be able to check my emails and work remotely if required. At the 60$ a night hotel, we had free Wifi. At the 300$ a night they wanted 15.95 per night. I found out that you could sign up for a rewards card and get Wifi for free later, but why add another hoop to jump through?

Keycard : At the 60$ a night hotel, I could hold my wallet up to my door and it unlock. At the Marriot I needed to pull the card out insert wait and pull out.

TV : At the 60$ a night Hotel, we have a wall mounted TV because we were in a new area, we didnt know the channels. We went to the guide channel and found the shows we wanted to watch. At the Marriot, We tried to do this but the TVs were slow to respond. When we got to the guide channel, you could not see what shows were playing only what channels were where (ABC, NBC, etc) This lead to us hoping around a lot to figure out what is on. Which was even more frustrating because of the lag responses remote -> tv.

Staff : The 60$ hotel had almost no one on staff. The Marriott staff was rude to me a few times.

1. The day I checked out I needed to drop off my luggage so I could attend the last day of the convention. I called into the main desk and asked if I was able to do so, they said yes. I carried my bags to the main desk, asked if I could drop my stuff off, they said to go to the bellhops desk. So I walked over to the Bellhops desk and said "Can I drop my stuff off here". He looked at me and said "Did you even stay with us?" and I said "Yes I stayed for the last four nights and I just checked...", he interrupted me and said "So did you stay with us?". I repeated "Yes I stayed with you for the last 4 nights along with my coworkers for the convention". Apparently this convinced him. My assumption is he looked at this 25 year old man and assumed theres no way I could have afforded this place. After this he said "We aren't the ones who will hold your stuff", then I said "The lady at the front desk over there pointed me this way to drop off my stuff" to which he responded "You need to go around the corner".

2. I decided to grab a quick (and expensive) lunch at the Marriott, I needed to get something from there before I headed back to my convention and didn't have time to find food elsewhere. So I walked in and sat down. I waited 8 minutes and decided since no one had greeted me, maybe I was suppose to be seated. So I walked up to the desk where people were standing behind and said "I am here from the convention looking for quick food before going back, do i need to be seated?" They said "No just sit anywhere". So I sat in the boot diretly next to this desk with ~6 people around it. My guess is they were planning for a big group because a few tables were pushed together and had "reserved" on it. After waiting another 10 minutes with no one talking to me, I left. That was ~20 minutes out of my 30-40 minute lunch break, not even counting walking back and forth. I didn't eat that day until around 7pm. Again, rude.

3. I actually went to customer service desk (I cant remember the actual name but this is what it was) to complain when I found out my Wifi wasn't free. After making the complaint they basically told me "that just how it is here", which is crazy by the way. So I texted my boss and asked him about it and he said pay for it if I had to. So I did. Later I found out from another coworkers that you could sign up for the rewards program and get free Wifi. Why didn't the Customer Service guy mention this? So I signed up for it the next day and they acted like they were doing me a favor to "comp my wifi" from the day before.

All and all, if I have any weigh in where we stay for our next conventions (we do about 3-5 a year and about 4-5 of us go), I will recommend we do not stay at the Marriott. Also if able, if we are staying at a Marriott I will not go. I was very excited to have excellent service at the Marriott.

Day one in San Diego paradise. Hotel views are spectacular and the balcony is a great place to hangout even if it is fairly small. Coming from a northern latitude after a long cold and snowy winter, I really, really appreciate the sunny skies and perfect temperature of a San Diego day.

We use the marina when we're at the Marriott, but we still get access to all the hotel amenities and services. It's an amazing hotel, everything is clean and it looks amazing. The employees are extremely nice, always willing to help out. The only complaint I have, they make it a huge pain to get towels by the pool. It's not a big deal, but just give me a towel.

The hotel reeks class. From the counter staff at check in, to the housekeeping, they are all great and professional. The rooms are very well appointed. Ours had two small balconies, but the rooms are quite small. I highly recommend avoiding room service. We ordered in on our first night. I ordered a steak and Cobb salad. My girlfriend ordered the chicken mozzarella sandwich and tater tots. Instead of steak, I was brought a disgusting steak sandwich. I cannot express how bad it was. I'm not sure what the sauce was, but it was awful. My girlfriend's sandwich was just as repulsive. He tater tots were undercooked and cold. The only decent part of the meal was the salad. We ate the salad and each left about 3/4 of our sandwiches for the trash. Luckily, we found out that a different kitchen is used for conferences. The food served at the conference was amazing. I heard several other colleagues commenting on how bad the food was at the hotel. Luckily the Gas lamp is so close that deliciousness is close by.

Great time with a gorgeous view, we will definitely return. We were not impressed with the drinks at the bar. They were not very strong or tasty just pricy.
We are back again and service has been awesome.
