Very nice hotel, but I didn't really like how large it was. It felt more like a resort because of the size. The location is great though! Walking distance from tons of restaurants and bars makes this hotel a good choice for groups.

The highlight of the hotel is the pool. The pool is designed to take you to the island destination, the topical elements and the well stocked bar makes your staycation a relaxing weekend getaway. The hotel is clean with friendly service.

I am a lifetime platinum member of Marriott and this is the worst hotel for platinum members. Concierge lounge is closed and instead of breakfast we get 1000 points which are basically worthless. This hotel does not take care of Marriott s most loyal customers- staying at Hilton next time.

Expensive hotel for the lack of amenities. $25 a day resort fee. Guests beside us ran up and down the hall screaming for hours. Front desk staff didn't seem too concerned. Won't be staying here again.

It is a fantastic hotel in a fantastic area with fantastic service. We stayed here one day before comic-con on our vacation. The fridge did not seem to be getting cold, so, I called the maintenance. They guy came quite promptly, brought a new fridge and helped out with other room issues... all within 10 mins or so of the initial call. Given the size of this hotel, it is more than impressive. Also, by-and-large all folks were very helpful.

Driving down to San Diego from Orange County midwe...

Driving down to San Diego from Orange County midweek before the afternoon traffic starts is such an easy drive. It's beautiful as well with ocean views to the west. As you make your way to the downtown area, the hotels and buildings create a beautiful skyline. Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina is part of the skyline.

* Travel tip: The easiest way to park when checking in at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina is by valet. They have garage parking as well but the spaces are a bit limited. There is also lot parking behind the hotel too, but it is quite a walk to the hotel if lugging bags and suitcases.

The lobby is stunning with it's tropical, oceanic feel with floor-to-ceiling windows giving off a feeling that you're on a tropical island. The front desk staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Check-in is quick and then you're on your way to your room. The tropical, oceanic theme continues from the lobby along meeting corridors to the elevators. You really start to forget you are in San Diego.

The 1 King or 2 Double, Bay view, Balcony Room is 400 square feet with central air-conditioning. Amenities include: chair, alarm clock, in-room safe, work desk with ergonomic chair and electrical outlets, iron and ironing board, coffee maker with an array of coffees and teas, Bath and Body Works bathroom amenities, hair dryer, lighted make-up mirror, robes, phone with voicemail and speakerphone, internet access, and flat-screen TV with premium movie channels. These rooms are also non-smoking. The balcony is 50 square-feet with two chairs and a small table, ample for lounging during the day - enjoy a morning cup of coffee or evening night cap. The view is breathtaking - the mirrored tower on the opposite side reflects the bay and marina. To the west is the marina, San Diego Bay, and Coronado Island. To the east, is a view of the Gaslamp Quarter. Below is a beautiful birds-eye view of the pool area that beckons like a tropical oasis.

The hotel also has a Gift Shop with San Diego themed fashion and accessories, souvenirs, drinks, snacks, and various necessities you may have forgotten to pack like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.

If you're attending a meeting and in need of a quick bite in the morning before sessions starts or a snack in-between sessions, stop by the Exchange. They have grab-and-go eats like muffins, cinnamon rolls, sandwiches, snacks, and a variety of refrigerated beverages. If you're staying at the hotel, this also a great place to stock up for the room for a night cap.

Marriott Marquis also has an on-site restaurant, Marina Kitchen Restaurant & Bar, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. See my review on it. Make sure to check out Marina Kitchen's new Tasting Bar where you can enjoy wine tastings daily at 4 p.m.

I love this hotel!!! I would give it 6 stars if I could!

Modern, clean, nice staff, great amenities and easy access to conference rooms. Pool area is larger than most hotels and it has a lot of palm trees and chairs. Family friendly and business friendly.

Nice sprawling property with decent food options, including a connected Roy s. Very walkable to Gas Lamp and great location along the water. A sneaky good gift shop too with perks for loyal Marriott members. We would definitely consider this property again, although the elevators were very slow but the hotel was also at capacity!

We enjoyed the comfort of the room during our stay and proximity to the marina, Gaslamp area, restaurants and convention center. We did use the gift shop for beverages and purchases a small strawberry cheesecake dessert from the Exchange Pantry that tasted 'old and rubbery '. They exchanged it for the brownie which they warmed up and also gave us a slide of poppy seed cake. We were pleased with the results. The views from our room were great. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful as well as the concierge. The room cleaning staff are friendly and efficient in keeping the room clean and tidy.

This hotel is quite central and useful to get around, the convention center is also next door making it very convenient. Rooms are a good size and clean and kept updated. Most rooms have a nice view but some lower rooms can suffer a little from the noise below. Service was quick but not the friendliest and I did expect a little more from this class of hotel. Food options are plenty full downstairs and the quality is good yet could be a little small for some.

I was constantly blown away by the staff here at this hotel. From the front desk to the red coat events team to the cafe staff at the exchange in the south tower. They made our stay so enjoyable. The hotel itself is very clean- the rooms are lovely with comfortable beds however maybe it is just a marriott style- the rooms look a bit dated. A very very comfortable stay!!

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. I was on a vacation and only stayed here one night but it was fantastic. I had a bay view with a balcony on the 22nd floor. The view was great because I could see the bay as well as most of the city! The facilities were spotless and clean. The TV section could of been better but the HDMI port built into the desk allowed me to plug in my iPad which was a plus. I found it ridiculous that wifi was $14 so I went down to the Starbucks in the lobby which has free wifi. Overall if you want a fancyish hotel stay here.

For a little extra money, the best rooms at this place are heaven. The best views to wake up and rest up with. Marina Kitchen, Roy s, and Tequila are pretty decent restaurants if you re staying there for a while but so many great options within walking distance too.
