I have stayed at a lot of Marriott properties, none of my stays really stick in my mind...that changed during this stay. This hotel went way above and beyond my expectations! From the moment I stepped foot in the hotel, I was warmly welcomed. Anil waited on me at the counter to check in...He made sure I was happy with my room location, explained the concierge level lounge (what was on the menu, when dinner/dessert/breakfast were, and how to access the lounge), gave me a welcome gift (first time I've gotten this in all 100 stays in my lifetime), and offered me beverages that were made in the lobby. Upon entering my room, the view was magnificent and the room was very clean and updated. I went down to Crafted North for dinner which I was very surprised by the rebranding - much better than the side bar from Steelhead and my waiter made sure I was happy and provided remarkable service. After dinner I grabbed a few things from the convenience store and Anil asked if I remembered everything for the evening (I forgot my toothbrush and he gave me one), stated if I needed anything to let him know. I was relaxing in my room for the night when I got a personal email from Anil making sure everything was to my satisfaction and if I needed anything to let him know....this made me extremely pleased, for a manager to go above and beyond to make me feel welcomed was amazing to me. Anil is an amazing front desk manager and truly treats all of his guests as his family. Because of him, I will always remember this stay.
We stayed two nights for an event. The first night we paid and the second was paid by my wife's company. There seems to be poor communication between the front desk and housekeeping as I was forced twice to speak with housekeeping staff that we were in fact booked for two nights and I wasn't packing up and leaving so they could clean the room.
That aside, the rest of the experience was as expected. The front desk and bell desk went out of their way to make us feel welcome and the room was clean.
I just used their parking for a hockey game. It's indoors which is nice but of course it is difficult to leave when the game ends.
Nice room at a great location! Right next to PPG paints arena...
Went here for a job fair. Kind of confusing on which elevator to take in the parking garage to get inside. Other than that it was good.
Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The parking deck was a little confusing, no one told us how to get from hotel to deck. Had trouble with our card keys working, one time they work and hour later couldn't get back in room. Request extra towels and they had everything ready for us. Had trouble with our hotel parking card, it wouldn't scan either, called for assistance. Rooms very nice and clean, spacious closet, room service. Excellent stay!
Terrible front desk. Woould not recommend. Avoid if you can. I am a Marriott Platnum member and will never go back!
Excellent hotel. Service and hotel staff very professional.
Attended conference at the Marriott. Very professional staff. Food was great.
Great clean room! Close to everything downtown! Front desk peeps are great! Would stay again
This was a wonderful hotel. The rooms were quiet.the staff was all very helpful. I was a little confused if I had parked in the correct parking garage, but it didn't really matter since the hotel didn't have any. You can just park wherever. Parking was $20 for one night. There was a hockey game letting out when we arrived so things were very busy around there. The elevators were very slow and usually full by the time it got to my floor. One time it took 4 elevators for me to be able to get on.
Very nice conference rooms. Dinner was about what you'd expect from a large catered dinner. Parking was ridiculous at $20 for 3 hours.
Rooms a little dated, but service and location are fantastic.
Hotel was just okay. It was somewhat outdated and it showed. Curtains were stained and signs of wear were visible. I really expected a lot more out of a Marriott. Room layout seemed really odd, there was a big open space close to the window, which seemed like a table/chairs may have been there in the past. Bathroom felt really small and toilet was less than 6 inches from the tub/shower if not closer. Door opened in and made the bathroom feel even smaller. There was no bag for the ice container. I found a piece of bread under the nightstand so room was obviously not cleaned thoroughly. Indoor pool was very cold and there were no towels available. My wife and I enjoy watching movies and website said HBO was available but only Showtime was and it would not load when you tried to watch it. Stairs were unavailable so elevator was the only option to travel between floors. Positives were the front desk person was very friendly and accommodating. Bed and pillows were quite comfortable. Hotel was very quiet even though it seemed busy. My wife and I tried to get a drink from the bar at Crafted right as they were closing and they were very helpful and accommodating. Parking was $20 if you just leave your car or $22 if you planned on leaving and coming back to the garage. Location is good and close to Steel Plaza T Station. Overall I would not stay at this hotel again. My wife and I were disappointed with our stay and expected better.
Great location - within walking distance of downtown, PNC Park, and a lot of other cool things! We've stayed here before and always have prompt, polite service as well. Within close proximity of some paths along a couple rivers, which is great as I want to go for a run while here. Would totally recommend it!
The service in this hotel is wonderful. The employees are always so nice and accommodating. The Concierge Lounge has good food. I stay here often and I've never had any big issues. When something comes up, the staff is always really helpful.
Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We were buying bandaids in the convenience store and they offered to give us some for free instead. A small thing, but generally indicative of their helpfulness.
I also definitely recommend a room with access to the concierge suite if you're going to be there during the week. Solid breakfast in the morning and desserts plus drinks in the evening.
Meeting place for Brew City Tours. Location exterior was clean and accommodating while we waited.
Good inner city acommadations. Close to just about everything. Only problem ....I asked the bar tender for Galliano and they had no idea what it was.
Rooms were nice but the elevators were unbelievably slow. There was a huge event at the hotel and guests were getting on and off between every floor. It was excruciating.
The location is amazing to get around the city. The nice transportation that the hotel offers helps reduce the cost of transportation. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and helps in anyway that they can. I really enjoyed Brian at the front desk, he was a fantastic example of what you would want out of someone in hospitality.
Attended a conference at the hotel. Easy on-and-off garage. Well lit. Plenty of parking. Enjoyed a late lunch at the bar in the lobby. Very good burger. Nice selection of beer and wine.
Great location, attending a wedding here currently and everything was top notch and the whole event was well taken care of. Will gladly return for another event.
I thought it was ok, the beds wernt as comfy as I would have liked, the breakfast could have been better would recommend for cheap quick stay
Dated rooms, tiny bathrooms, toiletries were scented with very strong masculine scent and room overall felt neglected. Bathroom didn't seem clean, paint was chipping, fixtures were rusty. View was of the highway and four parking lots.
great place for social gatherings and presentations
One of the nicest Marriotts I've ever stayed. Staff was wonderful, down to friendly maintenance workers. Theresa went above and beyond to make sure my room choice was ideal. Paul ( bellman) saved the day with the shuttle. Great burger at the bar too.
Will definitely return.
The Marriott is a beautiful place. Everyone there is professional and I would recommend to everyone.
Great room, very helpful staff, pricey rooms but after it all I felt was worth the cost. Bathroom is small compared to other rooms.
The rooms are dated, they look like they were refreshed a few years ago. Everything is clean, but the building has a dated feel to it. We had breakfast included with the room, but were up-charged $3 a person for buffet eggs and toast, the waitress explained that only "cold breakfast" was included with free breakfast.
Valet parking is $26 a night and they don't lift a finger unless you have cash in hand when you start to speak to the valets. It was $22 self parking per night.
Concierge van is the good. He goes the long way, but he gets you there.
The big issue I encountered in April 2016 is that the Concierge Room is closed all weekend, the sign stated the hours and the room was locked at 4pm Saturday afternoon. From Friday night until Monday morning. Big loss for Marriott status travelers.
This hotel was frequented by a lot of Pittsburgh Penguin's fans on the day I was there, April 23, 2016 for a game. They are across from the arena so it made it difficult to enter the Hotel and the bar and lobby were packed with hockey fans drinking. Could be good or bad for you.
The staff was really nice and the restaurant/ room service was awesome, with great dietary options. Unfortunately our AC didnt work well at all, in fact it seemed broken. They tried to fix it but it didn't make a difference. We were in this room for 3 days and it was slightly muggy and uncomfortable. Our fridge also did not want to cool down. While staff, food, and bedding was awesome, the fact that we were uncomfortable for 3 days and our drinks couldn't even be cold would make us go elsewhere. We also expected alittle bit more of an updated hotel for a downtown Marriott. It seemed a tad outdated.
Confusing parking, average room setup. Clean bathrooms.
Great location too see all that Pittsburgh has to offer. Great staff and an excellent hotel!
Went for college fair, good services and bathrooms well kept
Fantastic hotel. Very clean, very nice all around. It's so easy to continue to only use Marriotts because of the extra features like gyms and pools, starbucks, buffet breakfast, you name it.
Great server. Food was overcooked or had been waiting to be served for quite a while. Nice environment.
Not worth the price. Parking is extra. Room service is lazy. There was a conference room across from mine which meant that people would be making lots noises to prepare the room by 7 am. No breakfast is included. It is in the heart of the city but I'd rather dry elsewhere and travel in.
Very nice! Clean, well taken care of and wonderfully located!
We stayed from a Thursday to Monday in April, 2013 and were delighted with this hotel. The staff was so helpful, generous and friendly, even giving us a free ride in a limousine when the shuttle bus was not going our way for another half hour. We loved the beds because its rare for us to sleep well after one night, but we slept each night. We were able to walk everywhere, even to a baseball game at Pirates stadium. It was a fun weekend and if we ever come back to "The Burgh", we will stay here.
On the constructive side, the restaurant had a great breakfast buffet, but I didn't get a spoon for my coffee on Sunday, and the coffee was cold. I appreciated the soft pillows, but the half size didn't really work for me.
More like 3.5 stars. The rooms are larger than some other Marriott properties, but some don't have temp controls, and none have room safes that I've seen. On the plus side, even on the top floor they can keep the place cool.
Great lounge. Walking distance to anything worthwhile in Pittsburgh. Very friendly staff, rooms are spacious, and nice restaurant connected to the lobby. Perfect location of going to a Pens game.
I was pleasantly surprised to find an updated facility. Service, Rooms and Amenities were excellent.
Beautiful hotel, clean and COVID-19 safe. We really enjoyed our stay.
Clean, convenient. We didn't spend much time but the service was nice.
Location was nice, centrally located. Rooms were the quality and cleanliness you'd expect in a marriot.
Nice property. Very clean. Can definitely tell they take pandemic seriously. Room has cleaning seal when entering. Remote is in a cleaned bag. Sanitizer everywhere. Guy at front desk was incredibly accommodating (think his name was Kevin). Would def recommend this hotel.
A wonderful hotel! Great proximity to the hockey stadium. FANTASTIC room service food and customer service. We will definitely be back to this location.
Enjoyed rhis hotel. Clean and well-located. Great if you're heading to the arena for a game.
Stay here on business often. Staff is super friendly and the hotel bar is solid.
We went to a penguins game and got our Lyft picked us up to go back to our airbnb from here. Would recommend.
Beautiful hotel, clean, close ( walking distance) to so many wonderful attractions.
The best hotel I been at so far. The gym has a sauna and breakfast is pretty good. The TV in the rooms are huge and great hospitality. Parking sucks like always but I think it is reasonable. It is located right in the center of the city hence the name City Center ...haha.. you can pretty much walk anywhere from here, just stay clear from the bad areas. They have a evening "snacks" in the lounge with can replace your dinner. Overall, the hotel is definitely worth it.
The location is great. Within walking distance to all of the stadiums on the north shore as well as many restaurants and river walk. The room was very clean and the service was great. I definitely will be returning.
In had a great room with a beautiful city view. There was a hockey game that night and there was a lot of fun energy in the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the staff was helpful.
Very good staff. Courteous and polite. Food was great
Staff at the desk were alright. Bell boy was the nicest.
We went to Steelhead before a concert and had the buffet. All around for the price it was good and was quick before the concert.
Parking garage is confusing didn't offer meal choices for seminar
Great hotel for a city that is one of the engines of the USA, the home of steel.
Very nice hotel, very nice rooms! Staff was very friendly and helpful
Central location with adequate parking. Nice facility, friendly staff
