Crosstown Apartments NYC Review

Too bad there are no 0 stars.

Anyone that gives this place more than 1 star is LYING.

This place was horrible.

1. I saw an ad on Craigslist that they posted. It clearly stated that dogs are ok, and that the fee was "negotiable"

2. I sent them a text and they started texting me back. They had me rush out of work, and said that instead of meeting at the apartment, we'd need to go to their office (that already smelled fishy to me).

3. I show up and the place is full of people that really seemed like they weren't doing anything.

4. I'm left there, waiting, because whoever was texting me couldn't be found. I even called him and instead of coming over he actually tells me (on the phone, at the office) to just sit tight and wait.

So I wait.

5. The guy who was texting me, Taylor, finally shows up and sits me down with some other guy, who was the real realtor, and right away he sat me down an in an uncomfortable chair to interview me. I was at this point worried, figuring they were not going to take me to the apartment.

Now, I have excellent credit, make good money.

6. The other guy, not Taylor, starts talking to me like I'm 5 or not a New Yorker, telling me how real estate works here. First off, I'm sure he just stepped off the Kansas bus, so I didn't appreciate his condescending tone at all. But I stayed cool. I let answered his questions.

7. Right away, I told him that I wanted to know about the 15% fee that the form they gave me said. I reiterated what I saw on the Craigslist Ad, he was obviously uncomfortable and trying to find a way of getting that fee from me.

8. Finally, he tells me how we're now going to take our time and he's going to search for apartments for me. I right away was unhappy, and told him so. I told him I expected to see the apartment that was listed on Craigslist, and was upset he wasn't going to send it to me. He was dismissive of this, and was quite happy to send me on my way, telling me that the apartment that clearly stated that dogs are OK, was in fact not going to work out because I have a dog.

I could NOT believe they had me waste my time like this, and treated me in such a way.

I'm already talking to a friend to see if I can send a complaint to some kind of realtor association because this place is UNBELIEVABLE. I've dealt with other realtors before, and have never been treated in such a way.

Great Experience With Edwin. He Really Cares About His Clients Me & My Wife Worked With All The Local Companies In The Washington Heights Area & Kept On Getting Lied To By All These Brokers. I Told Him Exactly What Our Budget Was & Where We Wanted To Live & He Did The Rest. We Got To See A Good Variety Of Apartments Within Our Budget & He Was Super Knowledgeable About The Different Neighborhoods & Recommended Great Places To Eat/Shop/Hang Out.

He Has A Great Working Relationship With All The Different Leasing Offices Which Made It Easier To Schedule Appointments To See Apartments & To Communicate With The Leasing Office Of The Building We Ended Up Signing With. I Really Appreciated How Quick He Was To Respond To My Emails/Texts & That He Always Followed Up On Everything.

He Made The Entire Process Effortless. I've Already Recommended Him To Several Of My Friends & I Would Definitely Work With Him Again If Needed In The Future.

I recently rented an apartment with Nicholas Kattar at Crosstown Apts. At first I was hesitant about coming into this office and working with another broker as I have had some pretty bad experiences in the past. The apartment I inquired about was in Inwood and it didn't make sense to have to come into their midtown office first but Nicholas explained to me that while it was a hassle we could do a more efficient, time saving search this way so I consented.

I had already seen quite a few places with random brokers I met at the apartments and they were either nothing like the pics I saw, or I applied and found out later the landlord wanted extra security or the apartment was already taken. When I met with Nicholas at Crosstown Apts. he was extremely patient, pleasant, and knowledgeable on the market. He explained to me the different landlord expectations and showed me potential options on his database. We were able to pinpoint places based on my financials and criteria for an apartment. We ended up seeing four different apartments and all were close to what I was looking for.

Yes it is a hassle having to come into the office but I definitely see the benefits of it and I essentially ended up applying for one that day.

Nicholas wasn't pushy and never came across as "Salesy" or "Broker looking for a deal" A real pleasure to work with and I highly recommend him. There are a lot of sketchy real estate agents out there. He is definitely not one of them.

Chairina Defrank was my agent. She was professional and consistent...She was very flexible and worked around my schedule....She was very knowledgeable about the Hells Kitchen area of NYC and got me a great deal on a place....the entire experience was amazing...

The agents and brokers were very helpful in finding me an apartment that met all of my hopes and dreams of living in NYC. Their office was at a very nice location in midtown. My only advice, which has nothing to do with them, is that you should never let the pressure of the housing market and the renting process in NYC interfere with your sound judgment. Don t sign until you re ready and sure on a place.

Valerie was great at helping me and my boyfriend find our first apartment together! She showed us multiple listings in just one day and we ended up finding our home! She is super friendly and responds at any questions at a timely manner and we couldn't have had a better experience.

We were moving from across the country and Chairina, Sophio, and Hossein were so incredibly helpful! Finding a place was a nightmare and Sophio actually FaceTimed me to view the apartment and actually went on a separate occasion to take measurements with me on the phone with her-above and beyond!!! Chairina was super helpful with the paperwork and got our move in date as close to our move date as possible, saving us some money. She even cut her brokers fee down for us! Unbelievable team!

The sales rep I made an appointment with never showed up even though I confirmed with him 30 minutes before the meeting. I got really offended by one of their agents who "took care of me". I can not believe how rude and unprofessional they can be to their customers. Disappointing experience.

I absolutely loved working with Sopio and Nino at Crosstown Apartments. They had me come into the very clean offices where everyone was wearing a mask, and were very transparent and honest throughout the whole process. Sopio really listened to my needs and found me some great options to go check out on foot with Nino. I never felt pressured or rushed and ultimately, they found me a beautiful three bedroom that far exceeded my expectations. Sopio helped me throughout the whole booking process and communicated with the landlord, and even negotiated a better rent for me. Had a great experience when looking for a bigger apartment in Manhattan. I was working with Kharin Anderson who went above and beyond, seamlessly adapted to my ever-changing requirements (from a 1bd to a 2bd, from Two Bridges to East Village, etc.), kept me updated during the process, and was very fun to work with.

Was contacted by Richard Henry through a posting on line, shared my contact info. Spoke about an apartment on cooper sq. And was then blank space, no response. What a poor way to threat a client seriously interested.

Fabulous!! I met with Sopio on Thursday and by Saturday had signed a lease on a GORGEOUS spacious, cost effective place. Valerie showed me 7-8 different places and took care of the whole process.

They showed me my new place less than 12 hours since it had been on the market and well before the open house that night.

Sopio and Valerie did such a great job and took time to make sure I understood what was going on and was as much a part of the process as I wanted to be. Just picked up my keys today and am so thankful for them!!

Coming from California, I was expecting so little of New York. I thought id be put into some shoes box. But I found a listing from Crosstown Apartment by their agent Vikki Le. She was helpful, knowledgeable and very hard working. She had me meet her at the office to discuss my qualifications which Ive never done before ! I am so glad I did it, it definitely help me gain some insights on the market and benefit my search in obvious ways. We then picked out some options at the office and then went on to see the place. The whole process was stress free and easy. I thought this would take a while but I was able to have my place in a week. I definitely recommend Vikki from Crosstown Apartments to all renters !

Walked in was ignored. But the person behind me was assisted and received an application. So I sat down waited for 10 mins still no application. So I left

I made an appointment with Edwin to see an apartment. He never showed and did not respond to my text asking where he was. I just stood outside in the rain hoping he was just running late for forty minutes. If the apartment rented why not cancel any booked viewings? Made me feel stupid

Edwin was very quick to respond to my initial inquiry and showed me several apartments that were great matches for what I wanted. He worked extra hard to get me a wonderful apartment and took the time to educate me about the different areas where I was looking. I happened to choose an apartment that he lived really close to so the move was really easy & now that i have lived here for 3 months i couldn t be happier with my choice.

Valerie worked very hard finding the best fit for me and my two roommates. We all save a lot of time choosing apts from their data base at the office in chelsea instead of going around in the city for spaces that didn t work for us.

We end up having a couple of apartment views with Daryna. They were both very helpful and good people. Any doubt or concerns Valerie and Daryna were always there for help. It was our first time moving into an apartment in the city. Now we live on Hamilton heights in a new renovated 3 bedroom.

I totally recommend.

Chairina and Michella deserve a sixth star for helping my girlfriend and I find a great place. They always made us a priority and were available whenever we needed them. Even when circumstances out of their control cost us a few listings they rolled with the punches and found us an apartment. Next time I have to look for an apartment I ll for sure be using Crosstown.

Crosstown Apartments has a great selection of apartments and the team is friendly and personable. The location is conveniently positioned in midtown to get anywhere around the city. It s not often that you find staff who are willing to discuss your needs for an apartment, but Jada ensured that she provided a variety of apartments to compare.

She and Matt were very helpful and provided transparency on the steps for applying for an apartment. The level of professionalism and commitment to helping clients find the best homes are wonderful qualities.

I got involved with Crosstown NYC after responding to an add posted on Padmapper. I was never shown the apartment in the ad, but after asking me to come to their midtown office and telling them what I was looking for, they took me around town to look at three apartments. The first apartment was ground floor which was the only hard restriction I gave besides budget, the second they could not get into the apartment, and the third was a dump and not right for me based on everything I had told them I wanted but they tried to push it regardless. After striking out thrice they then found a last minute 4th apartment to see, which was nice so I asked to submit an application. They had me pay an 1,800 deposit plus application fee to apply, and then told me the following day the apartment was no longer available and that there was another in the same building they could show me. The other apartment was not even comparable to the first and there was barely a difference in price. I expressed that I was not interested, but was continuously pushed to submit an application after I inquired about how I would get my deposit back for the first place at which point I was told that I might still get the first place. Once I realized that they were pulling a bait and switch I had to threaten legal action to get my deposit back. Absolutely shady and beyond pushy agency.

Got my current apartment through them. They are very willing to do fee and no-fee apartments, although full disclosure you end up paying the fee through your rent or upfront either way, although this is just how the NYC housing market works.

They are a little hipper than most of the rental brokers, and have access to pretty much all of the same apartments. Fee is negotiable and for me was very reasonable. Little touches like being available at my convenience and a bottle of wine at signing were nice. If I needed to use a broker again I'd use them. I used Brett and William and they were both great guys.

Editing my review after some mixed feelings. My first initial impression was smooth. Being from out of town these ladies helped me and my roommate find a place almost instantly that was perfect (location, rent, etc). We filled out the application and submitted it the same day. Following this I felt that the quality of my experience declined. Often they were difficult to get ahold of, they messed up the lease multiple times, wasn't giving us the supers information. What really has me irritated is they were inaccurate about when the prorated days for the lease had to be paid. They said we could pay it a different time but apparently it was due before move in. Now we have a giant late fee and have to get the money together on a very short notice. Valerie and Chairina were very nice and had good intentions but I felt at times things became very unprofessional, considering we paid a nice fee for their services.

First off, I was so compelled to write a review for Valerie and Chai. They were so sweet and attentive and listened to all my concerns and questions. It s hard finding apartments in the city. There s so many out there and it s hard finding More
