Came in for lunch to watch the chile Spain World Cup game had the veggie burger which was served on a delicious brioche roll with a simple side salad delish!!! Had an ice cold Stella in a frosted mug to wash it down. Bartender is friendly and observant and the 6 flat screens in the bar area make it a great place to watch the games !!

I took my girlfriend here to celebrate our engagement. While we were waiting for a table, we went to the bar. The bartender messed up our drinks repeatedly. Once we got to our table we found out that the chefs tasting menu was not available, despite being told that it would be when I called to make my reservation. Since this was the whole reason we picked the lodge, after a half-assed apology from the management, we left. Thanks to Cavatore across the street for getting us a table last minute and going above and beyond to make our engagement night special.

Do not speak to Tim. Definitely does not want to help give ANY info on utilizing this venue. I felt rushed off the phone. Sad, because this place is so known for their food and great atmosphere, it's great quality so much so that I wanted to have a huge party here. Service sucks.

The fare is unique mix of big game and upland birds from wild, mixed with classics, served so well, by such nice and well trained staff, that only a vegetarian could be displeased.
The setting is like a forest lodge: once entering, you are transported into the habitat of the Rocky Mountains' goats, elk, mule deer, antelope and sheep, and of equatorial and Savannah's of Eastern Africa, with it's Zebra, Kudu, Elan and Impala.
Just the most unique experience one can imagine in Houston.
Kudos on the quality and the ambiance, and the celebration of our wildlife and game heritage.

TLDR: Don't bother. Give someplace else a try instead.

My boyfriend and I went here last night for date night. Pulling up and having complimentary valet was nice, and the building was really cool. Unfortunately, we stopped being impressed immediately after that. The hostess didn't smile once, and seemed upset to be there. Which, people have bad days, so I didn't think much of it. Menus weren't given to us immediately, which wouldn't have been an issue other than that we were ignored for 8 minutes after being seated. So we had nothing to distract us from the incredibly long wait for a greet. Eventually, a man walked by carrying drinks for another table, and we assumed he was the bartender. He wasn't. He was our server, Marko. As he walked past us to another table, he said nothing. He finally came back by to give us our menus a few minutes later. He also was not friendly, and didn't seem to want to wait on us. Again, we tried to give him a second chance, but he continued to not care about us the entire time we were there (while spending time at his other tables chatting). We ordered food. My boyfriend got the wild game mixed grill, and I got the lobster risotto, with the roasted brussel sprouts as a side. The food came out very quickly. His meats were very good, and the elk was excellent. My lobster was over-cooked, and the risotto was under-seasoned. The brussel sprouts were great. Overall, though, not what we expected for the price point. Once we finished, it took a long time for our plates to be cleared and for Marko to check on us. We politely got the check, paid, and left. We both normally give places a second chance, and if the food had been as outstanding as the reviews made it seem, that would've been the case even with poor service. But, we won't be back.

This is our favorite restaurant in Houston. I always choose it for birthdays and anniversaries. The lodge atmosphere and gorgeous patio cannot be beat. The best part is that rainbow trout stuffed with lump crab! My husband and I were very impressed tonight at how well they handled the COVID precautions. Tables were well-spaced on the patio, all staff had masks, menus were disposed of after every use, and they let you park your own car as opposed to the normal valet. I just could not love this restaurant more!

Rustic feel, lots of space. The wine list was varied, some fun cocktails (not super adventurous but good variety and unique twists on classics), good food. All of the sides we had were awesome (Brussels, grits and spinach). The snapper special was great and my friends were all pleased with their food - avocado wedge, crab cakes. A good wait staff. All in all, good.

Today was a beautiful day, and to top it off we had a superb table overlooking the beautiful green landscape. The food was extraordinary and the company was memorable. Quiet moments abound at this scenic restaurant for both families and couples. A definite must if you have never taken the opportunity to visit.

The decor of this restaurant is the only attraction. We were there on Saturday night and the food was either very good or mediocre. Portions were inconsistant as were temperatures of the food. Service was pretty good.

We have made a number of visits. Tonight however was one if our best. Our server was exceptional. No matter what you order, the chef has created some amazing dishes. The restaurant week menu was amazing! You won't be disappointed with the food.

Houston does not have a lot of above good restaurants, mostly are chains and professional waiters (so no food bringers) are non-exsistant except for some owner managed places. These people at the rainbow lodge understand it and stand above the good, they are excellent. The food is good and so tastefull but the best is their wine menu, its for true connaiseurs and definately in the top of Houston. The location and atmosphere is one of a kind. Waiters are professionals, so pleasent. Quality has a price, but its worth it.

Lovely place if you love wild game, try the 7 course meal, its an experience to say the least. The game is so tender and juicy and just melts in your mouth. Parking is mostly valet... and the ambiance is safari like. Service is top notch, everyone there is so nice. Been there twice and got the mixed grill the 1st time, and ooooooiiiii the food is ridiculously good. Expensive but worth every penny...

We held my 50th birthday party here and I can't say enough about how wonderful everything was. The theme was a 1920's party and the menu, the food and special drinks were created by the Rainbow Lodge to carry our theme all the way through.

We had about 28 people and the service was phenomenal. No one ever had to ask for anything as every need was met before it was needed.

The food was so, so amazing and perfectly presented! The night was run so smoothly and flew by. The service so good you didn't even realize they were filling drinks or bringing things around. The attention we got and the details met were above and beyond. Even though a wedding was going on and reception in another area we felt like the only party there.

The night was perfection and I can not recommend enough the Rainbow Lodge for a private party.

The log lodge was tastefully decorated with wildlife taxidermy and festive lighting. Menu selection was varied from fish and fowl to wild game and beef. Our couce was a mixed platter of several meats along with crispy shoestring sweet potatoes and quail egg spinach salad.

An old hunting lodge from early 1900s that has been converted to an amazing restaurant. They specialize in atypical game such as quail, boar, and elk. The food is amazing although expensive. Cocktails were great and they have an extensive wine list. Overall a very fancy and delightful night.

We celebrated my husband's birthday here, he was so excited about come to this place and when I came, I just wondering if we ll be at a fairy tale's castle, is so lovely but stunning. Then, they attended us so kind and gave us recommendations about wine and food. I ordered the exotic wild grilled and was amazing. If you read this, give my gratitude to chef and his staff.

If anyone goes here who is a vegetarian, like the Wanda woman who reviewed Rainbow Lodge earlier. You are just plain dumb. Its a wild game centered restaurant, what do you expect.
This was my third time here ( i would go more but i am one of those who always tries a new place. ) I love the restaurant, this was the first time I had been here since they moved locations. This new location is nice but i prefer the old one. Decor was similar but that 100 year old lodge on birdsall road was incredible.

In essence, food great, new decor...eah but still very romantic...service as usual was also great.

My family and I were invited to our cousin's daughter wedding on 3.10.19 at 1:00pm. I am so glad the weather held up for the outdoor wedding. The nature is so beautiful and made for a perfect wedding. The service was superb. The food was very tasty. We had a limited menu to pick from and my hubby ordered the steak and eggs which came with sweet potato curls which he asked if he could get green beans instead (low-carb lifestyle). The waiter did a look when he asked if he could get some cheese on his eggs..., but other than that, our experience was satisfactory! I am sure when the waiter told the chief that a guest would like cheese on his eggs, he probably said "Cheese on his eggs??? This is not I-HOP!" LOL!! His steak was very small compared to our relative that ordered the same exact meal, but he said the food was good. I ordered the Rainbow Trout Filet and got the green beans instead of the sweet potato curls as well. The restaurant has valet parking which we found out is complimentary. That is a huge plus!!

Really good service, had some of the best wine I have had in a while. Took a couple bottles before the server and myself came up with a bottle that was great. "Soul of a lion" is a great big cab that I highly recommend. A little bit of miscommunication between the server and I on a few items but it was fixed in a timely matter. Overall great service and good food, better wine.

So this place is a quaint restaurant but has my vote forever .. do hands down the best bread pudding... among other things. Came here for a business dinner 2-3 weeks ago. Service was top notch, with food selections you don t find everywhere. I had the rainbow trout which was delicious and very flavorful. The buffalo was super tender and very good as well. But, let s get back to this bread pudding. Man... I even ordered one to take home and my kids were amazed. Cute lodge with tons of charm and flavor. Whether you need a spot for a good date night, business dinner, rehearsal dinner or just don t want to cook tonight dinner.. head over. This spot did not disappoint!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time here! The restaurant had beautiful natural light and a nice garden area out back. The food was delicious and the service was flawless. The fluffy, light bread and butter was so good I had to ask for more! This was my first time here and I came for Houston Restaurant Week, I will definitely be back based on our experience.

Very nice ambiance and service. Surprisingly my dad's filet was tough, a little disappointing after hearing such high reviews of Rainbow Lodge for so long. Still a great experience overall!

Wonderful rustic atmosphere, located in The Heights. Quail bites and rib appetizers were yummy. Simple green salad and nice cocktails (Rusty Nail was TASTY). BUT....Then came dinner. First time, so had to try the Wild Game medley...Boar, elk, venison, and quail.... Unbelievably good. Well prepared and simply delicious. Very minor 'gaminess", but just delicious.

Charming setting and atmosphere. It really feels like a lodge, a hunting lodge of sorts. The restaurant is a collection of small dining areas which makes it private and cozy. It also has a nice outdoor area with a patio that provides the opportunity for some great photos. It would actually be a perfect location for a small family gathering or even a small wedding reception.

As for the food, it was good and tasty. Flavors were strong. Visited for Houston Restaurant Weeks and we tried the Duck Gumbo, Texas Fried Quail with Grits, Pan-Seared Snapper with Jambalaya and the Jumbo Crab Cake. My favorites were the Grits, Jambalaya and Gumbo. Yet, it's nothing really special. They have $2 Mimosas till 3PM for brunch.

Would go again for a friends/family gathering but don't know if I would return just for the food.

Quaint log cabin atmosphere with lots of game mounted on the walls. A collection of small rooms provides a quieter and more cozy dining experience. The food is excellent! Varied and interesting selection and everything was prepared perfectly! Game, being their specialty, was very tender and flavorful, as well as being paired with just the right sides.

I've been wanting to come here for years and I finally was able to check it out.

I was blown away by the quality of food. I got the wild game mixed grill and it was absolutely delicious. The portion looked small but I was stuffed after I finished sampling everything. Each of the meats were exceptionally prepared and were very tender. The sauces went really well with each of the meats. I highly recommend this dish to anyone.

The interior was beautiful with a romantic cabin feel. I highly recommend this place for anniversaries. It's perfect for couples and dates. Their outside patio is gorgeous for special occations.

I was pleasantly surprised that they carried Icewine which is a unique type of dessert wine produced from grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. This is the first restaurant I've been to in Houston that carried it.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu.

We've been here a number of times while in Houston visiting family. They always deliver great meals, excellent service and a top shelf dining experience. We've been here for both large and small groups and always delighted. This trip was a modest group that included 2 small children, they were very accommodating. Food was excellent with a great choice of fish or meats. Drinks and desserts were excellent bookends for a very enjoyable meal. Great place for events, special occasions or just a great meal

Fried Bananas!

Fried Bananas!
If you're visiting Houston, coming here is a MUST DO! The food is great, you won't find anything like it in this part of the country. Guaranteed. Their fried Bananas are just delicious. I totally recommend.

I had never had wild game before coming here, but after trying it, I can say that my opinion on it has definitely changed. I think the quail that they prepared is the best thing I've ever tasted in my life. Very warm and friendly ambiance, it feels like sitting by the fireplace in your distant relative's log cabin. Great food and great wait staff as well! We were extremely well taken care of, and I really enjoyed my time there as well as my meal.

I m a big fan of their wild game burger for Friday lunch. Have also had a great experience there for brunch, happy hour, and have also attended a small wedding followed by dinner. Every visit has been exceptional from the food to the service.
