Lovely place and very good service. Ambience and outdoor remarkable. They have seating isolated and one can find cozy independent seating as a group. All around in the restaurant is made up of wood and gives beautiful finish and ambience. Food is great as well.

Wonderful decor, great menu, variety of meats to try, bison, pheasant, antelope, well you get the idea my bison was wonderful. Probably not for the toddlers, but they would cater. Very rustic in the woods setting. Price wise, moderate, but you will get your money's worth in several ways.
The cocktails were great but I ordered the steak & eggs from the brunch menu and the food was just okay. Excellent service so I'd go back and try a different brunch item.
We absolutely love this place! Amazing food and wine! Many gluten free dishes that will make you crave coming back every couple days like we do! Thanks for the great food and service!!!
My favorite restaurant in town - the ambiance is unmatched by anything else. The patio is fantastic. The food is generally quite good, and the menus change. The feature lots of game options from venison to Buffalo, quail etc. Good selection of wine and fine spirits. Service is generally spot on.
Food was good. Service was horrible - very disorganized. Took ten minutes for the server to come over to the table after we were seated. We started by ordering wine, appetizers and salads. Salads and appetizers came out all at the same time - about three minutes after we ordered them. Talk about rushy. Then it took following up with the waiter twice before our wine was delivered. We decided to hold off on ordering the main course to avoid having it rushed to the table. This left us juggling menus for half the meal. Not an experience I would come back for, and particularly poor for this price point.
I went here with my husband for the first time and I just have to say that the bartender was rude to me, because when I got there I asked a question about a margarita and he said he did not know, he did not work in a Mexican restaurant, but the waitress, Rose went above and beyond great service. She made it a wonderful dining experience. The food we ordered was good, but a little overpriced, but we had already looked online at the menu and had already decided what we wanted. Something that was not planned was that Rose asked us if we wanted an appetizer and made a suggestion, and that was the best thing we had, which included some venison medallions that just melted in our mouths and were so flavorful. The next time we go there, we are definitely ordering those. I had a basil pear martini which was excellent. I also had another drink with vodka and ginger beer, which Rose made herself for me, and she left out the citrus part, so it would not be too tart, and that was probably the best drink I've ever had and it was very nice of her to do that for me. We did sit outside for a little while before and after dinner which was very relaxing. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience for both of us. I thought the restaurant was very nice, we had a good view, and we were very comfortable because there were not very many people there. The bread and butter was so delicious. We also got a cute little dessert, with Happy Anniversary spelled out on the plate with melted chocolate which was a great touch. We will definitely go there again and I hope we will see Rose there because she is probably the best waitress I've ever had. Thanks so much Rose for making our anniversary very special.
I hated this place. The food was just mediocre at best. The price is wayyyy over-priced for the service we received. What the kicker is when we valet parked, I gave my ticket for them to pick up my car and I was the first to give it to them out of four. I got my car last and they couldn't find my car, I was so mad.
Disappointed. My husband and I had been excited to try this restaurant and decided to go and celebrate New Years here. The entire evening felt like we were being rushed out and it seemed clear that some of the food had been pre-cooked to speed things up. I was expecting a nice well paced dinner, but we couldn't even enjoy a sip of our cocktails before the appetizers were out. I got the scallop appetizer, and the scallops were cooked perfectly and were truly excellent, but the chowder they came on was cold, as if it had been plated well in advance. As an entree, I got the pheasant, which was extremely dry. Again, it seemed as if this had been pre-cooked and perhaps pheasant was not a big seller that evening and sat under a warmer. Rounded off the evening with creme brulee, which did not have that great hard crack into top, but rather was on the soft/soggy side, so I assume this was made ahead of time too. While the food was underwhelming at best, the cocktails and espresso were excellent and very reasonably priced.
Based on other reviews of Rainbow lodge, I feel like we had a 'one off' experience, due to the special New Years menu. If anything, I was hoping a special menu at the price we paid, would have been executed much better.
If you like game meats no need to go hunting for it when you can have it here. You also have a diverse selection of seafood. Great for a date or anniversary or a more formal event.
Excellent food, great value business lunch and outstanding service gave my group a wonderful experience. The halibut was delicious. We enjoyed the chili and gumbo. The buffalo steak was exceptional.
Rainbow Lodge is a beautiful restaurant and the food was delicious. My only complaint was that during our brunch service on 4/29/18 their fryer was not working so many of the items were unavailable. Also, there was no hot sauce to accompany TexMex entrees besides Tabasco. The service was good and they have a diverse brunch menu, and I look forward to sampling other items.
Everything is fantastic. Drinks have generous pours. The wild game dinner is a way to get a variety of different types of game. The fried oysters and sausage and duck gumbo were the better appetizers.
My husband and I were seated in a really dark area then were told another guest had a problem with her eye/eye's that's why the lights were turned down. We couldn't see the menu and were forced to leave. WOW! Some service RIGHTTTT
I had such high hopes for this place, but the food really wasn't that great. Went for brunch with my family and later that day, both my step brother and I got violently sick. We both had the wild game plate - do NOT recommend it!
We have been coming here for year and Rainbow Lodge is one of our favorite restaurants in Houston . Recently the service has been slipping with inattentive and unknowledable servers. I hope to add back the 5th star soon. Food is always fantastic!
Rainbow lodge is alwaus perfect. We go a lot. I especially love the red snapper. Our granchildren love it and they love to roam the gardens. They love the deserts.
American food and the setting at this place is super good. this location is one of my favorites. really nothing but good experiences here. food is similar to a place in san francisco i loved.
I had one of the best lunches in Houston today at the Rainbow Lodge. Great quality food and the wine was the creme Dela creme of my meal I bought the whole bottle. Wasn't very welcomed in the beginning but the waiter took great care of us and made us feel like a customer should. Enjoy.
The atmosphere really makes this place. Cabin look and feel. It s impossible not to see cozy here. Incredible food. Great wine selections. MUST try the bread pudding (w/ Whiskey Sauce). Maybe not the best place to take a vegan... haha
The waiter Mark Anthony was the best waiter we ve ever had! He made our anniversary very special and was so nice and just made our experience the most memorable The food was absolutely amazing too! Best quail I ve ever had and I didn t even know I could liked quail that much!!! Definitely will go back!
We ordered a Cooked Turkey from them for Thanksgiving last year and it was the best turkey we've ever had. I'm getting another one for Christmas this year. I haven't eaten there, just bought their Turkey and sides to go for the holiday.
Can NOT express enough how impressive this place was. Its in a bit of an odd area, but once you get inside, nothing else matters. Incredible waitstaff, great service overall, and literally everything we tried may very well have been the best we ever had. Crabcake appetizer was incredible. Mixed grill medium rare was amazing Blackened red snapper unreal. All the sides were absolutely delicious, and fresh. Before and after dinner drinks were nothing short of spectacular. Dessert was just wow. Will be coming back for sure, just wish we hadn't waited so long in the first place.
Great service, fantastic good! This gem has it's own herb garden and some fruit trees they get ingredients from, which I thought was pretty neat. My husband and I went for our 10th anniversary, and we're so glad we did. We had the mixed game grill and quail bites for apps (they have to be the best poultry I've ever eaten in my life!) For entrees my husband got the Nilgai antelope, and I got the venison osso buco. Both very, very good and the meats perfectly cooked! Unfortunately I did not realize it was a stew, and I am not a stew fan. NOT that it wasn't good, it was AMAZING! However, with stew not being my favorite kind of flavor, I didn't want to not fully enjoy my experience so I ordered a second entree, the lobster risotto. My husband finished off the osso buco at home, and he really loved it. The lobster risotto was amazing, and I'm glad I went ahead and ordered it. Compliments to the chefs, everything was absolutely delicious, and the great service was a perfect match to the great food. These people know how to put a little flair, as well as great pride, into the service they provide. This is our new favorite spot to celebrate anything with eating. We were blown away, and it was a PERFECT place to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Thanks y'all, and this is now my new favorite restaurant
Wide array of menu options available, and food is cooked to fairly decent standards. This place is well respected and the servers take great care of you. Will be returning because of the good job they did for my graduation party.
We showed up with a party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us without a reservation. Quite impressive! The one and only reason I'm not giving this five stars is because the older hostess made it clear she was unhappy that we did not have a reservation. The young hostess was very friendly however and was able to seat us quickly. After we were seated, we unexpectedly had an additional two people added to our party. They made mention of how the older hostess didnt hide her negative feelings toward having to accommodate them. But, our server Mary was kind enough to move us to an even larger table in a private room (reservation for room had been cancelled prior to our showing up, so it just happened to work in our favor). Although we were all very apologetic, Mary made us feel welcome and thankfully remained our server. Our wait staff was amazing and the food was delicious. We ordered the braised beef ribs grilled cheese sandwich, fried oysters, crabcakes, quail, Habanero chicken sausage scramble, steak and eggs, etc. Our entire group of 12 loved their meals and all want to return. The $2 mimosas were all champagne with a drop of orange juice! Spicy bloody marys were the bomb! Loved it!
Highly recommend this place for a first date, anniversary, job promotion, whatever! The selection of game that they offer is prepared incredibly, and the wait staff is extremely knowledgeable about the selections they offer and recommend certain things to make your meal even better. The view is also a very calming and relaxing addition
Had dinner here with my husband for a date night and was very impressed! I loved the feel of the inside, it did not feel like we were in Houston! The food was so great! But in my opinion a bit overpriced. My only complaint would be it took an hour for us to get our meal after ordering due to the kitchen being backed up from a party.... But, we will definitely be back! Delicious and nice experience overall.
Fine spot for delicious american food. don't worry if it's busy, it is worth the wait. i will probably become a regular. this place has a good design. they have so many great reviews for a reason.
The service was top notch. Food is absolutely delicious and the cocktails were amazing. Everything was esthetically pleasing and the restaurant was beautiful.
First time visitor as of 9/29/20. My bf and I were on a mini vaycay from San Antonio and I brought him here for his b-day dinner. I heard about it through a friend and thought the concept of having a quaint little dinner in a log cabin in the middle of the city would be a fun idea. Trent was our waiter and he was absolutely fantastic! He was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. We asked for his recommendations for both, our entrees and dessert, and we were not let down! I had the rainbow trout, While my bf had the Nilgali antelope loin and we split the lobster avocado wedge salad. Everything tasted amazing and we definetely would recommend this place to anyone traveling from outside of Houston, or even to a Houston native. The scenery is super laid back and relaxing. Will definitely return next time we make a trip to HTX!
It was a very enjoyable experience, a tiny bit more expensive than I liked for what we got (about $100 for two after tip, excluding alcohol and dessert), but the server and atmosphere made up for it if you're looking for a nicer quiet environment with a great view. Definitely will be back!
Great experiences always enjoyed at this restaurant. A beautifully decorated restaurant with an upscale edge and pleasant atmosphere is what you can expect to find at Caracol. The drinks are creative, beautifully crafted and divine!! The waitstaff are friendly, accommodating and very efficient. The menu items are innovative and definitely tantalize the taste buds. Beautifully plated food items that never disappoint and are always fresh. Convenient valet service to help with quick parking. Well worth a visit!!!!
Excellent business dinner last night! Atmosphere, food, and service on point. Jacek did a fantastic job, silent service is the calling card of a high end restaurant. He stayed close but didn't intrude. I enjoyed myself and recommended it already to others.
My husband and I stopped by for dinner just to try something different. We ate inside, the ambience was quiete, romantic and relaxing. I had the Lobster Risotto and he had the Mixed grill (wild game plate). Honestly, I wasn't entirely satisfied with my plate. It may have been the leeks in the plate but something tasted strange. I expected more flavor and lobster for the price. Please note, you will have to valet your vehicle so bring cash if you want to tip. I gave it a 3 because my husband absolutely loved the quail, elk, venison, and lamb.
Great place, beautiful gardens, windows, excellent food and service, and QUIET. You can actually talk in this restaurant. Very few restaurants were you can here yourself think, and even hear the person you are meeting.
In summary of the Rainbow Lodge, reality does not meet the hype. My partner and I arranged our 10-year anniversary dinner here, and we were disappointed in the food quality and service. The server, Sydney, was obviously stressed out, More
Such a beautiful place for Sunday brunch. The decor is beautiful! The view towards the back is amazing, it's perfect for a nice romantic date.. I'm only giving it a four because the food wasn't necessarily the best. I was expecting the food to have much more flavor than it did! Still going back to give the food another try.
The restaurant is so beautiful! Really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was good but I wasn t super impressed. However, the duck gumbo was very good! I m more likely to come back for a bowl of the gumbo and the atmosphere, rather than for a full dinner.
Honestly a little pricey for what you get and the experience. Decent food but the atmosphere was lost on my wife and I who couldn't understand the attraction of the restaurant or layout.
Service was admirable but the waiter was making circles throughout several sections of the restaurant to take care of single tables in various areas, making it feel like we were at a Chili's at 3 in the afternoon as he would stop by as he ran around.
We visited on September 28th from 6:20-7:27
It was a 68$ tab 12$ tip & 5$ tip for valet. We ordered; Lobster & Herb Risotto 29$ Pesto Grilled (3) Shrimp Bruschetta $12 1 Glass of Wine Lemon Icebox Pie
Hostess were befuddled we didn't have a reservation, the restaurant was 1/3 full, and we were seated at an outward corner post in a hallway overlooking a multilayered deck that overlooked in a retention pond with Christmas lights in it.
Excellent food based on a wild game menu. The atmosphere is like you are in a giant cabin with different levels. On Fridays, they have the wild game burger, it is worth a try. I liked the Taste of Texas lunch portion to try out the various meat preparations in a small portion. Fairly fast service for lunch from knowledgable wait staff. It is on the pricier side for lunch and parking is limited to valet. It is good for a try for the experience and the food will not disappoint.
