The valet should really park there customers cars away from the apartment exit next door. Someone is going to hit these car parked here.... please close out the area.
Excellent food and service! Very professional! Great atmosphere. Thanks
We ate here News Years Eve, taking advantage of their NYE special. It was fantastic! Service - Excellent, Seating - Excellent. Food - Excellent. Prices - reasonable for the setting. Avg cost on a four-course meal with drinks, was about $100 per person.
It was excellent the food was great and the service was amazing
Upscale restaurant?! WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD. My husband surprised me with dinner reservations for my birthday here. We arrived 10 minutes early for our 7:00 reservation and had to wait 5 minutes in the car for valet. Once inside ,we were seated in a cozy table; however, we never had a server. Our water was filled TWICE with NO menu. After 15 minutes, the table that came in after us had menus and a server. Needless to say, we left completely disappointed and baffled at the horrible service. When leaving, the hostess thanked us for coming (she had seen us 20 minutes earlier!) and we waited 5 minutes again for the valet. This place ruined my birthday.
Great food. The chef tasting menu was excellent, the wines chosen for the pairing were good as well but not a great value (the restaurant obviously makes a huge margin on the wine pairing)
I'm just now getting around to writing a review.
I went about 4 years ago, and the experience was amazing. It was quiet and had a rustic feel to it. I've never had wild game and our waitress(I can't remember her name) walked us through the menu and then the course selection. The staff was attentive and made sure everything was perfect. It definitely isn't the cheapest restaurant in Houston, but like I said, the experience and quality of the food made it well worth the price.
I recommend this place to people all the time.
I love the bacon for brunch, hard to find good food with a great relaxing atmosphere on the patio, I have returned several times and the Lodge never fails me.
Absolutely amazing experience!! Great place for date night. Our waiter showed us all the artwork and all the head mounts it was truly an amazing experience seeing all the different rooms. The food was phenomenal highly recommend getting medium rare!
Variety of wild game and wooded cabin atmosphere. Food is simply great.
I paid $38 dollars for a steak and I liked it. One of the best steaks I ever had in my life and the wait staff is awesome. I really like their selection of wine and you have to try their specialty drinks.
Excellent with beef and wild game, seafood offerings marginal based on overall expectations for fine dining, service is one of the best in houston.
A fav place for tasty american food. This place has a good atmosphere. Reminds me of a place in New York I liked to visit.
Romantic and nice service. You can come here for any anniversary. They will make you feel like unforgettable
Beautiful views out in the patio. The food and service is great. Good place for a date night.
The food is great, setting is very nice, staff is wonderful.
Simply amazing. The food was great and the service was wonderful. We hope to come back soon.
Delicious food and drink. You need to try it. We had a large group for a business dinner and it was perfect. The service was amazing. The room was quiet enough that we could have a conversation. The menu has too many great choices. Everything we ordered was excellent. I will be back.
I'd been to the original Rainbow Lodge and was pleased to hear that it was back and very well represented. The decor is great and the food was wonderful. We plan on returning for a combined brother's birthday celebration after the first of the year. I know my two brother's will find much to appreciate at the Lodge!
My business man's lunch, fish was a bit under cooked, however everything else was delightful, sauce with great! The environment was very pleasant, wait staff was good and the out door view was excellent. I would recommend the lunch when you have time to take it all in.
Lovely place, i enjoy my Valentines day, thanks guys
We enjoyed the atmosphere and scenery of the restaurant. We had Sunday brunch which was very good! From the smoked duck gumbo, to the shrimp and grits and lastly the warm croissant bread pudding, it was all delicious! The mimosas did not More
If you want a one of a kind experience you MUST dine here! The property is beautiful and romantic, great views. Quaint and intimate setting. The selection of wild game was impressive. We had a hard time deciding but we started with the More
Food and service are always exceptional. Great date night spot.
Amazing variety of food and flavors. The business lunch I chose was a great value at $15. And it was definitely worth adding a bowl of the gumbo.
Our table added a couple of appetizers, and with a couple drinks each, the total came out around $200.
Haven't been there in the evening, but I'm interested to hear the quality of the live music they bring in.
Sunday supper was delish. Hibiscus margarita hit the taste buds just right. Our waitress, Ashley... wow she went above and beyond. She was engaging and knowledgeable with recommendations. Being our first date, she made sure it wouldn t be our last. From flowers, coffee Mugs and an Oreo cheesecake dessert that was personalized made this a long lasting impression. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
BEST EXPERIENCE! My (now) husband and I held our wedding at the Rainbow Lodge last Sunday, February 23rd. From first speaking with Manager Tim, leading up to the week of the wedding and even to the day of - They were SO easy to work with and was willing to work with every request I had (swapping menu options, creating Menu cards for our event, etc). I cannot say enough about this place. Our event went smooth, the food was DELICIOUS (my guests kept saying how great it was), to the impeccable service! I highly recommend and can't wait to eat there again soon. Thank you Donnette, Tim and the rest of the staff!
Amazing atmosphere, great food, best service...highly recommended
The food was great and every one was so nice. The place is beautiful too! Definitely recommend!
Beautiful views and always impressive food. Definitely for meat lovers but other items as well.
I'd seen this place online and had wanted to try it for several years. Reading the menu online and seeing the posted pictures of the ambiance was enticing to me. I finally did try it recently, taking my mother there for Mother's Day. There wasn't any like.. acknoledgement of mothers day.. no rose or mention. Which, is no big deal usually, but... this place charges quite a bit for nothing else real special at all. The menu is very short on available options.. didn't expect that. And the food was just... eh, alright. I enjoy great food, especially wild game options. I just wasn't impressed here. The waiter seemed bland.. The nearest part to me was when we were leaving, we walked out back to a deck/patio seating environment that looked neat. Other than that, I just want impressed for the hundreds of dollars I spent there that night. I probably wouldn't return or make a recommendation here.
I looked up romantic restaurants in Houston for a special place to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary.
So glad I did!! This place did not disappoint.
Valet parking was great!
Our waiter was persona let and even took us out on the patio to take a couple of photos of us for memory sake.
The food was delicious.
We had the lamb rib eye & a side of fried oysters.
The atmosphere is rustic and beautiful.
I went there for lunch the other day and ate from the Houston Restaurants Weeks menu.
Service was also wonderful.
Can be a very romantic place or a family place. The food was excellent and the staff was very pleasant and helpful
Amazing is the only word I can muster up. From the food to the service. I'll definitely be a regular now. Waitress was amazing amazing AMAZING!!! Don't cheat yourself treat yourself.
This place was phenomenal! The food and service were top notch. We were there for a work dinner party and they took great care of us! I had the halibut with butternut squash risotto and let me tell you, the flavors were amazing! The bread pudding was amazing as well! Do yourself a favor and eat here!
Extraordinary place for weekend brunch. The slowed cooked venison is awesome.. paired with $2 mimosas is absolutely amazing. Finished with the bread pudding and Irish coffee, can't ask for much more!
My wife and I went there for fathers day 2020. When bill came I signed it and left a $20 cash tip for waitress. When I got home noticed they charged me 20% tip that was not explained nor was it on check I signed. Be careful if you go to eat there. They are not ethical in billing practices.
Great food, amazing wait staff, very attentive and knowledgeable. We went for dinner on a Friday night and we're more than pleased with the entire experience.
Lodge like atmosphere with really good food. A bit on the pricy side.
By far some of the best food I've ever had. Service is always a 10.
I love this place! The food is amazing and it is a great date night spot.
Incredible place for a very special night. Beautiful decor, delicious food and wine list. Great atmosphere inside and outside. The staff was extremely helpful and knew exactly how to coordinate with us on everything and provided helpful recommendations. We won t ever forget our experience there!
The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was great too!
I wish I could give 10 stars for their hospitality alone. They were amazing in accommodating my request for flowers and late reservation.. due to delay in my flight, we end up reaching at 10pm(closing time) rather than my original 830pm reservation. They graciously welcomed us. Excellent food, aura, setup and environment. They even let us walk around the lodge to checkout their amazing outdoor seating, bar, etc after dinner. I highly recommend this place fr a romantic evening.
Good food, particularly brunch and specialty game meats. Interesting historical building with a lovely backyard patio.
Had an excellent time. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and plates. Great place to get away from the common fare. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was relaxed.
Visited the bar first. Very knowledgeable staff that is friendly
Went we went to the table, handoff from bar to waitstaff was seamless. Recommendations were excellent. Make sure too save room for dessert.
One of my favorite places to find the sort of food my mother cooked while I was growing up. Last time I was there I enjoyed some quail and red wine while I visited with a friend. Delicious.
Delicious!! Stuffed Trout and bread pudding! Yum.....Relaxing atmosphere. Will return!!
Brilliant food. Very attentive servers. Excellent ambience. A little expensive though.
Excellent food - thoughtfully prepared and delicious. We did the tasting and had a wonderful tour of the menu. The seafood and game were done really well. The somalier was very fun and engaging. The decor is also very cosy, which made for a great date spot. The restaurant is expensive but not pretentious.
I really loved this place. Definitely worth going back to.
Good food, good service. Sunday brunch has good mimosas and bloody marys.
We had a great time with friends celebrating our new company, food was excellent with one exception. I had the 16 oz Ribeye Steak and it was very good, the veggies that came with it were fingerling potatoes and Asparagus, with the Asparagus I expected 3 large juicy, plump stalks of Asparagus but what I got was 3 pencil size Asparagus stalks, I was disappointed in that. Other than that we were all pleased. Our server was excellent and everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship. We will return.
think this is a great restaurant with an unusual and good menu, nice cozy atmosphere, great service, friendly and prompt and personal. We go when we want to go someplace "nice" but not too fancy.
Girlfriend and I ended up here for restaurant week. We were both very impressed, and thought it was better than Brenner's on the Bayou which we had visited shortly before. Atmosphere was great, and thought the service staff did a great job. Highly recommend giving this place a shot, but I will personally be visiting other nice restaurants before returning since Houston has so much to offer.
Really nice Sunday lunch, good snapper and great service. There are great views, not many bad tables that I could see.
I've been here a couple of times now. The food is great and the service is excellent. Fridays is a hamburger day.
Went there for Easter. Super charming place, great decor, and they had gluten free options for my wife.
Beautiful place for brunch! Mimosas ($2) are poured to the rim! We ordered the Lobster and Avocado Wedge and Field Breakfast. I would recommend.
Hammer Wild Animal Restaurant! Must have visited.
Here is: "Do not look at the prices and trust that it is worth it!"
The service is great too
Hands down the most romantic restaurant in town. If you are in love, you must go!
Celebrated Christmas Eve at Rainbow Lodge and had a great experience. Between the delicious food, great atmosphere, and attentive service the entire meal was nothing but a five star event. The restaurant specializes in wild game and the party I was with took full advantage of that ordering bison, antelope, venison, elk, quail, and boar around the table. Everything was great but the true standout was the antelope, if you are feeling adventurous I would highly recommend it. Finally make sure to ask for a table in the main dining room, it is spectacular with amazing views of the bayou and really shows off the character of Rainbow Lodge.
It is good for palate delicacies, small portions and sometimes risorias. It is the perfect attention
Loved, went for 20th anniversary. Dawn was our waitress so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. MUST Start with fried quail bites and grits. Husband had elk very good, I had the rack of lamb, awesome. Finished with awesome bread pudding . My husband said the Irish coffe best ever had. I had the hibiscus margarita very very good, would recommend. This place is wonderful, would go go again. Kim and Brian King
We had the Friday Burger, Crab Cake and Croissant Bread Pudding. OMG!!! Everything's was fantastic, but I need to make an special mention to the bread pudding: is AMAZING. I truly recommend this place. It's a bit pricy but worth if. It's a perfect place for an special date or event to celebrate.
My preferred scene for american food. the staff was very helpful and observant. ambience reminds me of san diego's scene.
Deceptive! Beware! Food was great. Service seemed to be as well until I realized the catch. The reason for one star is wine list. First page was wine by the glass. I looked to the next page assuming it was by the bottle. Prices were about what you expect for the bottle, i.e. in the range 40 and way well up. I pointed to the server to the one of my choice and said we're going to order this bottle. After they brought the bill it was evident that price was well above. They explained that it was for only for 6oz! I checked the menu and found out it indeed stated in small print that it is in that measure. No explanation of what is the difference between a glass and a 6oz was provided. Never seen it so far anywhere before. There's plenty of places in Houston which won't scam you like that. And there's no self parking as well. Advise you to go some place else, unless you're only for food, which is not cheap as well. Use on your own risk!
I was so disappointed. I made a reservation on Friday with Open Table. When we got to the restaurant, we were seated in the bar area where there was live music so it was hard to talk. Menus didn't come for over 10 minutes. We selected the Tasting Menu (6 small courses) to try a little bit of everything. A busboy would put the food in front of us with no explanation of what it was. The waitress would be over about 5 minutes later to offer pepper and finally tell us what we were eating. When I pay $200+ for a meal for 2 I expect great service, and that is not what we received.
The vegan options are solely comprised of various grilled vegetables. I would love to see more creativity. Rainbow Lodge was once iconic in Houston, I would love to see a more modern, progressive revitalization.
This place used to be better. The food isn't what it used to be, but at least the service is usually good.
A must for anyone who wants to step up from the casual fine dining experience. From the time you drop off your car with the welcoming valets, you are made to feel as though you are the most important guest of the evening! Not only is the menu second to none; this restaurant and its staff serve you to create a beautiful dining memory.
Wonder food and service. Had Easter brunch there with a friend and had a wonderful time. The outside seating has a beautiful view. Highly recommend this place.
Rustic ambiance in the center of the city. Wine list is great. Food excellent
If you are up for a splurge, do the food and wine pairing dinner.
I have to admit that I had such high hopes for my birthday celebration at Rainbow Lodge. After doing some research and receiving feedback from patrons that had visited in the past, I was really excited about my choice. The venue was lovely (set up, decoration, etc). However the huge problem was the lack of customer service, the cold shoulder, lack of professionalism, lack of concern, attention, etc. I was honestly taken aback, baffled. I didn't really look around the entire restaurant as I had asked for an intimate locale but from my vantage point, we seemed to be the only minorities there and were definitely treated as such. Again, I had such high hopes and was so disappointed. My girlfriends arrived before me and they each gave a very similar account as to how they were treated, ignored, disregarded, treated as though they were a nuisance to the male host. I was so embarrassed. We drove from Katy, Sugarland, Spring, The Woodlands and that was certainly not the treatment we expected. Towards the end of our brunch the demeanor changed some, not sure if it's because the waiter realized how poorly he was treating us or because his time dealing with us would soon be over. The food, presentation, ambience and caipirinha were amazing. Sadly, due to the treatment, we will not be returning nor will we be recommending this establishment. Thank you.
Wonderful! The 6 course chef's choice is highly recommended.
