The restaurant experience is wonderful. The service, ambiance, and view are all top notch. The dining experience is as unique and one of a kind as the menu. The menu includes several staples, but is constantly changing. The food is extremely good. You should come with an open mind and experimental pallet.

Awesome food, super cool atmosphere, great service. Lots of very different food options, items that I would have never thought to try. Servers were great at describing the different options and giving suggestions. Wish I had had enough room to try dessert. Maybe next time!

Experienced the lunch menu. The Smoked Duck Gumbo & the Braised Short Rib and Texas Redneck Cheddar Grilled Cheese Sandwich with house made chips were amazing. The deduction was for the unfortunate bone found on my wife gumbo. Customer service was great, but the check arrived at the table before i had the opportunity to order an expresso.

The food was great, we had the mixed game appetizers and main course. I particularly liked the fried rabbit on blue grits. Desserts were lovely, service was good, interior very nice even though we weren't lucky enough to be seated in the log wall part of the lodge. Only reason they don't get a 5 is because of the wretchedly tiny forced valet parking lane. We had to park our full size truck across the street and dodge traffic to get to dinner.

Excellent choices of fish, steak, and game meat. Loved the jalepano grits and lobster spicy chilies risotto. The scotch was good too! Highly recommended...the ambiance is unequalled...and matches the original location on Buffalo Bayou! Ryan and Daniel were exceptionally attentive to our party!!

Went for a 50th birthday w the wife. Excellent service. Excellent sommelier. Had the chef tasting menu w wine pairing. Hadn t been to rl in 20 years. They moved it but the new log cabin lodge is really neat. A little sketchy driving through the neighborhood so it seemed oddly placed but it s a historical building. Pricey but appropriate for the quality and experience. Surprisingly informal. I like more formal dining. It seemed like formal food but comfortable atmosphere. So you don t have to overdress. Even a tie seemed overboard. A reflection of the times maybe.

Definitely recommend!

Atmosphere was nice the appetizer was good, entree was ok, and the dessert was good. I had to send my first drink back. They got it right the second time around. She asked if I would like another I said sure. Again the first one was terrible and so was the second one.

Rainbow Lodge is a Houston staple. It was my first time there at lunch and the lunch menu is very reasonably priced. Service was good and the is always a great selection of wild game meats on the menu.

Celebrated our anniversary here. Definitely feels like you are on a romantic getaway because once you step in, it feels cozy and rustic.

We ordered pesto grilled shrimp and taste of the wild for appetizers and then seared alaskan halibut and lobster risotto for our main dishes.

The pesto grilled shrimp was delicious, we liked the rich sauce and shrimp. Taste of the wild came out with 3 tastings, quail, venison, and bison. Venison was my favorite, then bison, then quail was meh.

Lobster risotto was bomb!! I liked how they didn't place one lobster on top but instead couple big lobsters on top and medium ones within here and there. It was very yummy, it was my fav out of all.

The halibut was great too, crispy yet tender. Caulifowers on the side were perfectly seasoned. A tomato(?) sauce comes with it too where you pair it with halibut. I added the sauce on my risotto and it was bomb+amazing. You gotta try!

They gave us raspberry mini pie for our anniversary which was nice gesture.

Valet parking. I guess I took off one star because the service was a bit slow. But overall, great experience!

Cannot rave about this place enough. This is a wedding review as I had both my ceremony and my reception there. I could not have had a better wedding anywhere! This is the perfect venue if you want a smaller, intimate yet still fabulous and elegant wedding. Also great if youre going for an Autumn/Winter theme(why wait till the Spring or Summer?). I had 42 people at my event and everyone was well accommodated. Tim, the manager, was ever so helpful, kind and patient to my thousands of questions and concerns. Couldnt have done it without him! The service, food, and drinks were top notch. The food selection for both my wedding and even normally dining there, you cannot find anywhere else in Houston. The outside part located in the back is beautiful and quaint, makes for very romantic photos. Im so happy I had my wedding and reception here. I will always come back to this place. Highly recommend for events and dining for wild game cuisine.

Went for supper and had excellent food, service, and cocktails. I had the ribeye, fingerling potatoes and asparagus which were all excellent. The appetizer of assorted wild game was good too, especially the lamb.

I've been here twice. The first was with my girlfriend and the experience was okay. Great food. Okay service. Then I came again for a business lunch with a party of 5. I was there for an hour and a half and never got my food. I had to leave and cancel my order. Later, when I called and spoke to the manager, he admitted that the server misread the table but offered zero consolation. Not even, "Hey, why don't you come in and have an iced tea on the house." Plus I learned that the server lied about when my table was "completed." It was literally the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I'm angry just thinking about it. If you want to get out of there in a reasonable time then you must let your server know.

So me and my wife go to this place frequently at least twice a week now myself I usually get the bison. Is actually an off menu item that is absolutely amazing. It would also recommend the quail the meat platter. The Alaskan salmon and elk are exceptionally tasty as well.

I loved my experience dining at Rainbow Lodge. Aesthetically you'll find it to be relaxed and rustic.

Every course was tasty and memorable, and I'm eager to return to try more of the menu or maybe the Chef's Tasting Menu. My favorites include the super flavor-packed quail bites (try them as part of the Taste of the Wild for variety!), and a savory off-the-menu halibut. For dessert if you're a creme brulee fan definitely try the Creme Caramel which provides a chocolatey caramel take, and if you're after caffeine check out their signature drink The Nudge.

A full dinner is on the pricey side, but it's well worth the experience and prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service.

My husband and I ate here last night for HRW and it was amazing! Service was superb and each dish was prepared to perfection! The restaurant has a great atmosphere, decorated with lots of wild game (which is what they serve). They have a great outdoor space which looks like it would be great to dine in when the weather cools down a bit. Overall 5 stars for sure!

We loved it! Had my birthday dinner there. Absolutely loved the decor and the food. I had a beet salad, bass, and desert platter. Absolutely recommend all of the above. Reasonably priced for fine dining.

My husband and I had dinner here on a Friday night. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with lights and exotic animal wall mounts. Our waiter was quick to serve us and suggested items off of the menu (we had never been before so we did not know what to get). The food was INCREDIBLE and a bit pricey but it was well worth it. Their "The Nudge" dessert drink is definitely worth trying. What blew me away the most was the scenery outside the back windows of the restaurant. It is beautifully landscaped with tons of trees and greenery. It makes you feel like you aren't stuck in the middle of Houston. I would highly suggest the Rainbow Lodge!!

Google says they close at 10:30, and we got here at 9:30 and they wouldn't take us. They said they were already closed at 9 pm. We told them how Google said they are closed at 10:30 and all they could say was "sorry"

It was very eclectic and rustic feel, good menu with lots of wild game options! Waiter was decent and could have been more attentive (we had a party of 6)

We try to eat here once a month. The atmosphere is fantastic with outstanding service. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the cooks. Sometimes the food is a little inconsistent. Overall, it's a great place to go to

2/17/19 my boyfriend and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon taking in the sights of Downtown. On our way home we decided to stop in here thinking it was a cool little bar and to change up the scenery of what we are typically used to. The bartender seemed to be a lil stressed when we got there, I took it as she may just be a little overwhelmed as she was the only one behind the bar and orders were steadily coming. We ordered a glass of wine a piece, and my boyfriend being the talker he is, engaged in a conversation with the gentleman next to us as well as a table right by the bar. He was inquisitive of the selection of bourbon this establishment had (as he is a huge bourbon guy) asking prices just trying to engage in conversation with the curly haired bartender. We finished our glass of wine and I requested another and already had the money out to pay for the tab. The bartender comes back and says I am sorry we can't serve him (the boyfriend) anymore. Mind you we had one single glass of wine. In return I paid for our 2 glasses and told him that she didn't want to serve him anymore. I get we all have bad days but I truly feel as she singled him out the moment we got there. Even asked if he was a spy because of the questioning off the liquor, perhaps he knows his liquor. We were asked if we were there scoping out the prices for another bar. We were simply just enjoying a day out, which rarely happens, and made a bad decision stopping into this establishment to be treated in this type of fashion. I hope you guys catch her on a good day and have a better experience than we did.

Good food, BUT:

Good food, BUT:

HORRIBLY slow service (didn't take our order for 45 minutes);
Incorrect bill (had to resubmit twice);
Inability to adjust tip for bad service ("Automatic" 18% tip charged).
BE CAREFUL OF THIS PLACE!

Probably the most professional dining experience ever. The food, decor, and service were beyond expectations as I held a private wedding dinner party here. They gave us a private room, intimate attention, and a wonderful host, Brian. I chose this place because they are on every top 10 list of romantic Dining in Houston. I would put them at #1. So grateful for choosing this place for our wedding dinner.

As soon as I walked in the door I was not greeted, I was starred at by the older female lady with glasses as if I was not dressed to what she usually see. Went for Easter Sunday brunch. I was very disappointed to find nothing other than lunch. This place usually has French toast and other brunch type options during brunch, so I was looking forward to visiting and booked well in advance. I understand creating a limited menu for a holiday, however, if you are going to call it brunch then brunch options should be available. If you went looking for lunch then I am sure this place was fine.

Had dinner here with my husband for a date night and was very impressed! I loved the feel of the inside, it did not feel like we were in Houston! The food was so great! But in my opinion a bit overpriced. My only complaint would be it took an hour for us to get our meal after ordering due to the kitchen being backed up from a party. We will definitely be back! Delicious.

Summary: 5 star setting doesn't compensate for lack of flavor, tough meat, and price point.

Really wanted to like this place. The history of the building, the background of the owner, the setting. New to Houston I was hoping this would be a gem that I'd frequent as family etc visited. Interested to know if I came on a bad night, but was so underwhelmed by the food and service.

Service: a response to asking if the waiter could do something to prop up a very uneven table noticed immediately as we sat down - probably. Nothing happened, I folded up my napkin and managed to balance it out - asked for a new napkin. Asked for bread (complimentary) to go with our soup about 6 times before it arrived. I think the waiter was frustrated with whoever was meant to action that request. Was some staff bickering over confusion in front of us which I normally wouldn't care about but just emphasized the experience we were having.
