One of the great drivers here tried to intentionally merge into our family and then felt it necessary to flip us off after making our family of 5 swerve into oncoming traffic and almost get in an accident.

As a local electrical contractor who deals with ALL! the utility companies and who is a personal PVREA customer also, PVREA is a far cut above any of the other rural providers in Northern Colorado. When it comes to responsiveness, customer service and overall experience, i would rather deal with these folks than anyone else. Special thanks to Sarah, Mike, Mike( both Mikes) and Bryant.
Have also had dealings with highest levels of management that have left me impressed. You know who you are. Line crews, you guys are heroes who never get enough credit for the risks you face and your all nighters in the snow. Always remember there are some of us who know that and who think of what you are going thru when the wind is howling.

I am both baffled and offended by customer service and truly wish I had an alternative service option. Someone is trying to use my phone number to start their service, which is bizarre given I still have a Florida phone number. The first person I spoke to was wonderful, but Heather consistently hanging up on me and then the manager (I failed to commit her name to memory, her rude demeanor stuck out more) giving me attitude when I m reasonably concerned is beyond me. I see I m not alone in being repulsed by how customer service treats people. I stated multiple times it wasn t the company s fault so their vile attitudes are so uncalled for. If you cannot work with people, please do not work in customer service.

The supposed costumer service seemed annoyed that I even dared to call with a problem. Human services wake up and hire people that have an appearance of at least minimal interest and problem solving skills

I have had a lot of different power companies over the years, and this is by far the best.

Great rates, uptime, solar benefits, rebates, and even an app to check daily or hourly usage.

I have only called in once, but they were great to talk with.

Mostly only disgruntled people leave reviews. Imagine all of the thousands of people that have never had a problem with PV REA. I missed a payment one time and they worked with me to get it resolved. Thanks.

Horrible power management company. They cut my power and after calling they had the worng house and account? They take there dam time to fix a street light and wow even slower to fix an outage. I know it takes time to fix a down line or transformer but dam are you guys on snail speed???? And your customer service well there is none. Never had these proplems with Xcel Energy oh and at least Xcel they treat there customers like a real true customer and human.

Overpriced compared to excel - look at your bill. There is a $25 facility fee - really? They also send out a four color magazine to customers - what a waste of money - I never read it - use that money and apply it to your facility fee. Also, terrible during storms - power outages galore. I have no choice where I live though than to use them.

Poudre Valley Rea is the absolute worst. I have lived in many places and have never been so overcharged for so many services. Unfortunately they have a complete monopoly on the Fort Collins area.... ILLEGAL!!! so we have no other choice. I wish i could leave 0 stars or negative stars!! NEGATIVE 10

Terrible! If I had another option in the Poudre canyon, I'd go with it.

Customer service employees are completely inept and are totally ignorant of the services on the website. Spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to make a payment with my bank acct instead of my card, only for the employee to say they couldn't process the payment because the entire billing department wasn't coming in that day until noon (WEEKDAY!).

Then she tells me that it wont work to get on the website to add a bank acct for a payment method. So I log on and literally the first pop up on the page is asking me to add a payment method and make a payment. Finished in 2 minutes.

All the while a blizzard is dumping snow and my electricity is about to get turned off, because I can't make a payment because the billing dept wasnt working until noon. Great timing PVREA!!!!

We have a 3000sq/ft Auto Repair facility in Longmont, my electric bill through united power is about $150 a month. We have an 800sq/ft home that I heat with wood, our electric bill through Poudre Valley REA is $160 a month....

Absolutely the worst customer service that I have ...

Absolutely the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. They had the audacity to tell me it was my problem that their phone system was overloaded and routing my calls to the wrong person. Extremely RUDE... I was hung up on... Given wrong numbers to call back... And finally told that I should call back at a time when it was more convenient for them!

The after-hours call center hired by Poudre Valley...

The after-hours call center hired by Poudre Valley rea are some of the most rude, unprofessional, uninformed, uneducated, dishonest, and crooked people I've ever dealt with. Every time I called in and said the phone system was not working right to make an automated payment they said they were going to call and talk to someone from REA. Every time I was put on hold it took 20 minutes for them to get back with me with no resolution. Finally after I told the call center I was going to call the sheriff and have them listen to the call to know that it was constantly increasing by 45 to $100 per call and the system will not allow me to make a payment someone from REA called. He said the after hours company had not informed him of any of this when they've called him in the past and he was very sorry for what happened and he took care of it. One of the worst things I've ever had to deal with in a long time. Being blackmailed by an after-hours call center. 2 hours and 30 minutes it took me to take care of a bill. Unacceptable!!!!! I think by the rating of Poudre Valley REA if we all had a choice weed switch to a different power company but that's what happens when there's a monopoly and there's only one choice.

My son is a paraplegic and his wife left him. We thought she was paying the bills which she was not. They shut my son lights off. He is on oxygen and life alert both take electricity. He is ina electric wheel chair and I don't have a ramp for him. We are on disability so our funds are limited. They wouldn't work with us at all. I can't believe a big company won't help a man in his position. I tried to get help from other sources and they are out of funding. And still REA won't budge. My son is now in ICU at Banner medical hospital sick. Thank you REA. You have a heart somewhere?

I was a little worried finding out poudre valley rea serves my community at first after reading the reviews, but so far my experience has been great. Power outages do occur semi frequently (as to be expected as a rural provider) but power is restored in a timely fashion. Customer service has been excellent. Everytime I've called I have been met with very polite and attentive people. Rates seem a little high, but I'm not complaining. They send a monthly magazine which I enjoy and the app they have makes paying my bill easy and convient.

I Have been with this company for over a year Problem free on both ends. Due to a bank error my electronic payment was declined. Pouder valley has a one strike only rule with this. They also dont feel the need to inform you that you have been taken off this way of payment. So AFTER my power was shut off with no notice I had to pay A reconect fee along with the bill and a $50 late fee. So a $60 bill became almost $400. The I was informed that I had to now pay an additinal $230 in a deposite plus my bill next month because i am high risk. Dispite the fact I payed over a year on time diligently with no issues. They were unwilling to do ANYTHING to help my end of the situation. I was told that the board has to make the money also. So It's not there job to tell you When your account has changed in a drastic way. My final note is that In the office I was treated poorly inadition to the fact a have to pay around $600 for $150 in actual usage. This is a classic example of corpartion GREED and the rich keeping the poor down. Thank you Pouder Valley for supporting the comunitie that keeps YOUR bills paid and YOUR house warm.

Pretty terrible service.. paying a lot for continuous power outages.. I see power in the neighborhoods surrounding us but our power on these 4 blocks goes out for extended periods of time (hours and days) right now I'm looking at power accross the street and none here in our neighborhood and it's just a little rain. Same thing happened last snow storm, we didn't have power for 3 days but accross the street had power after a day..

Not sure why you would mail a refund check for a negative balance to the address I disconnected service from after I updated my new address online with your disconnect service option? It's been two months and 5+ calls to your Customer Service department with very conflicting answers. Just curious how long you plan on hanging on to my money for?

The worst service I have ever experienced. I previously lived in the mountains at over 9,000 ft and had better service with my provider there than here in the city with PVREA. I wish I had another service option, but I am stuck with this half rate company. I have had 3 power outages in the last month. Every time I call to find out the expected time of service being restored, they either don t know or it s 3 or more hours later. Unacceptable.

People don't realize how difficult it can be to provide power to rural areas, especially mountain areas. Been with pvrea at several homes over the years. They always do their to keep the power on, even when it snows four feet.

I switched from Fort Collins utilities to Poudre Valley REA after a move and could not be happier. I recently experienced an outage and my power was back up very fast. We even had a someone come take a look at our meter Mid November (when the front range got that huge snow storm) because it wasn t working correctly and they wanted to make sure we didn t lose power in the snow storm! Again, I am very satisfied.

If there was any way possible to have a different provider I would do it. Worst customer service I have ever experienced with any company, and the cost is rediculous. I would rate this company in the negatives if possible. Disgusted

Worst utility company I have ever had the displeasure of using. Important paperwork is never sent, or sent to the wrong address, then the customer is punished with late fees and disconnect notices. Final bill was never sent out, I've had to hunt all the information down and drag it out of customer service agents.

I called to transfer service and was told I needed a deposit. When they told me that the deposit was going to be 2000$ I was astonished. According to them the deposit policy is based on a combination of your credit score and previous usage. So for me the deposit was 2x the highest bill based off the last 12 months of usage. The previous tenant to this house was a cannabis farmer so the usage was threw the roof. My cousin and I have lived here for 3 months and have yet to pay over 100. They have zero compassion for special situations and are not here to help whatsoever. I am forced to have pre paid electricity service due to them being the only available provider of electricity in my area.

By far the WORST customer service I have ever encountered. The employees (including 'supervisors') are very impatient always rude and extremely unprofessional. Given the situation of many families hit by hard ships this company is not only unforgiving but could truly care less if people have power or not. My family and I can only receive service from REA and are currently working towards solar energy. I would not suggest working with this company to anyone.

I am moving into a house where I have to use Poudre vally REA. They gave me no choice but to pay a $362 deposit for the service. At the rate I use power, the deposit is worth over 7 months of service. This is totally unacceptable, but I literally have no choice, since they are the only service in my area. BOGUS!
ALSO, they charge $80 to reconnect your service when you forget to pay. The system is automated, nobody lifts a finger. The $80 fee is basically as punishment for being late. When did we start letting corporations run this country?

We were recently impacted by the Cameron Peak Fire and our home has been under mandatory evacuation. Unfortunately, we received some fire damage including the power pole being burned. PVREA quickly and professionally answered all my questions and restored power as was quickly as possible. They were amazingly quick in answering all my questions and service could not have been any better.

Absolutely the Worse company and customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I've been wanting to write a review for awhile ,after my horrible uncaring idiots that I dealt with today I can understand why they have gotten such a low rating. We are stuck with them. When our power goes out for 4-6 hours at a time and REA has no idea about it, when the neighbors are calling them, and we get " have you checked your breakers?" Do you neighbors have power?...So uncaring of any special circumstances that arise, I get My hands are tied!!!!? Really...I was directed to 4 people...I was mad, each person gave me a different answer. My rant is over about this horrible company.

I have a cabin in a very remote section of the Laramie Mountains and Poudre REA put in service for me and has since provided reliable service. I also find their app helpful to monitor my property from afar. Good people in my experience.

We've been with PVREA for over 15 years and the service has been nothing short of exceptional. Their response times for trees down on lines is usually the same day even if it is only one customer without power. Serving this mountain area is no easy task for any company - they handle it very well.

AVOID THEIR SERVICE AREA! Constant drops in our service that they admit are happening, yet they offer no resolution. Garage door opener must be constantly reprogrammed, and cannot trust our alarm clocks at all. So tired of watching all of our clocks flash. Love our location, just wish we could get our service from a better provider.

I have always had great service and support from REA.

As a utility they have been forward thinking, provided good rebates for energy savings, and I enjoy their newsletters. They keep their public well informed and involve them in decision making through invitations to meetings, etc.

I have never had a problem with the prompt and courteous service.

"Rural" is the keyword in their name - they provide power where others fear to go and along with that comes challenges, especially in Colorado where ice/snow can take down lines, rural construction cuts or knocks power, farmers snag an overhead, etc. Their responses to the unseen events are prompt and effective.

Like many people here I have occasional outages but frankly it was not worse than City of Loveland or Fort Collins. So far the longest I have been down was about 3 hours. I have a generator because when I lived in Loveland I lost power more frequently for longer periods. Have only used it once since moving to the REA service area.

We have been with REA for over 18 years. Their service has been exceptional in the Red Feather Lakes area. We rely on electricity to power our well so without electricity we have no water. We have never been without power long enough that we needed to use a generator. Their service is much better than Excel in the cities where there are frequent outages that does not get restored for days.

Worst service ever!!!! They don't mantain their equipment so every time it snows powers goes out then they tell you they can't control the weather. We live in Colorado that should be something you plan for don't please don't use this company if you don't have to. Horrible customer service and not worth the headache I would be willing to go off the grid then to use them again!!!!!!

I am shocked at the reviews listed, and recent too. I have had wonderful service from them, and every time I call their customer service (which hasn't been that often) I am met with very nice, courteous people who help me in whatever I need. I can only remember a few outages. One when we had a tornado locally (about a year ago) and one this past winter in a huge storm, but they were not alone, there were plenty of other companies that had outages during that storm. I think during the September 2014 floods there was one too. I have had PVREA for 15 years, and I am very pleased and expect an outage about every 2 years or so.

Hands down the best energy folks I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Often times, we are in there for a reason that is not so fun. Whomever was at the front desk was one of the most helpful people I've dealt with in recent memory.

On Sunday 5/8/16 we were in a mountain cabin we own in Red Feather Lakes. The power went out around 11 am. I was able to use my phone to connect to the REA website. I looked at what to do in an outage and I was directed to the Outage Map. The map showed an outage in my area so I assumed that this meant that the REA staff were aware of the outage and working on it. I also thought that since the map showed a number out outages across their service area, the last thing they needed was to have a customer phoning in an outage they already were aware of. What a mistake that was. We had to leave our cabin around 2 pm and go back to our home in Lafayette. All evening I kept checking the outage map. I did not see any change. When I got up Monday morning the map still showed an outage so I finally called the REA. It was at that point that I was informed that outage map is generated by their computerized monitoring system but this does not generate any alerts to staff to work the problem. Service was finally dispatched to work the outage in my area when someone called it in on Monday morning. All I can say is that this is one of the worst uses of information technology I have ever seen. If I could rate them a zero I would.

Worst electrical/power service on the front range. Terrible customer service. They don't maintain their equipment. Every time it snows, power fails. Every time it rains, power fails. Every time the wind blows, power fails. Every time a squirrel runs down a line, power fails. We've been complaining for years and nothing ever gets resolved. Power blips in my neighborhood for years. Power outages for days on end is a common occurrence. Let me reiterate, worst power company I've ever had.

Horrible service, in the last year power has gone out 6 times at least and each time it takes hours to get back on. A storm I understaffed, but this has gotten ridiculous. We need a new power company.

Editing my original comment from one star to three. PVREA credited my account after they realized there was an error on their part and service was shut off during the christmas weekend and holiday. They provided me a credit towards my account and apologized for their error. They are willing to help if given the chance.

I wish I had another option for our electricity supplier. Would give a zero if I could. Their Customer service just makes customers lives worse and a lot more unhappy. They do not try to be helpful at all. So sad I m forced to use this company since there s no other option in our community.

This company CUTS PEOPLE POWER OFF W/O WARNING. What if someone relies on MEDICAL EQUIP. TO KEEP THEM ALIVE?? They DON'T EVEN SEND WARNINGS TO REMIND people. Those living in mountains---can suddenly find themselves in the dark---like us and we've always paid our bills.

Terrible customer service. If you have a child whose life depends upon a powered medical apparatus or you rely on medications that must be refrigerated I strongly suggest you find another power provider (if another is available).
