Northern Protocol Inc. Review

I had Northern Protocol custom build a computer for my business 4 years ago and it's performed flawlessly since. Recently I brought it in to have some updating done (and to have it cleaned). I was kept informed of it's progress and the work was completed quickly and at a very reasonable cost. Northern Protocol would be my first recommendation to anyone looking for computer service or a reliable purchase!

My first time using Northern Protocol and I was pleasantly surprised by the professional and quick service I received. I was contacted within minutes of leaving a message about my broken laptop, and when I dropped it off, it was fixed and back in my hands within a couple of days.

I want everyone to know what a GREAT experience I had at Northern Protocol. From that first great welcoming smile of Amy's, I felt confident my computer problems would be solved. She went through everything I wanted done and assured me it would be done in a proficient timely manner. I called back with further requests and spoke to Cory who was working on my laptop. He assured me I would get what I wanted. Boy, was he right. The service was beyond what I expected and I was able to pick up the laptop the next day. Amy showed me how to do a few new functions I requested and then I paid the invoice which was extremely fair for what I had done and I was off. Bravo Amy and Cory!!!

I brought my laptop into NP for a graphics issue. During the testing they discovered the SSD in my laptop was failing their test (running slow). Luckily under manufacturers warranty still. I brought a drive in to transfer data to and as it turns out it wasn't large enough. There was a miscommunication at the store and I didn't get a call to let me know the issue. I was compensated then and there for the issue. Not only that, the owner of the company personally called me to make sure I was satisfied with the resolution.
Customer service is alive and well with Northern Protocol! I highly recommend Aaron and his team to look after your computer needs.

The staff at Northern protocol go above and beyond their normal scope of assistance to give you "second to none" expert advice and on line technical assistance any time I have called on them.

I made a post a few weeks ago and i just want a response i sent my pc in to get looked at because it was stuttering. They where nice over the phone took a week for them to do what they needed to do but they told me is was a os issue causing the problems but in truth it wasnt because when i got my pc back it was the same and also on top of them charging me the 100 dollars for the new os installation they didnt even properly reformat my other drive which i thought they would know. I have proof of payment for sending my pc in im just not happy with the end result that my pc is the same as when i took it in.

I brought the pc in april 4th 2020 and if i could get some feedback of what you guys even looked at and did that would be nice because paying 150 dollars and nothing changed is really annoying.

Aaron has gone above and beyond the level of expectations in regards to the service and quality of product he has provided and delivered us since the first day we met (by coincidental chance as he came highly recommended), through a mutual colleague. I have gotten to know this company over the past few months and what is mind blowing is every time I have interacted with this business I constantly have been treated with the highest level of service and appreciation. I respect the fact that they have always been honest and upfront with me and instead of "up-selling," or "pushing product or service," instead they took the time to explain what would best suit mine and my business needs from a economic standpoint. Which is very rare I find these days. Aaron especially always made me feel like the door is always open so you know you aren't just a quick sale or turnover but yet building a long relationship. Typically I don't do "reviews," but when a company goes above and beyond for me, I feel this is the least I could do in appreciation by letting others know they are in good hands!

I was looking for a solution to why my laptop was eating up space everyday without me putting anything new on it. Took it in to Northern and Brad had it solved in 10 minutes. What a surprise when he said no charge for bench diagnostics this month.He explained exactly what was causing my problem.

Aaron has been looking after my computer needs for 7 years without fail. I moved 90 km away and I still return to Aaron for prompt, reliable service and the computer fixed the first time, every time. I have tried local service repair shops and I always have to return as the issue is not fixed. Well worth the drive to Barrie.

I purchased a computer from here. A month later, it was crashing and getting the blue screen. I gave them a call. I was told that I would have to bring it back and leave it for a min of 3 days. They would then let me know if there would be extra charges (if it was a software issue). I did my own research and did find it was a firefox issue. I took the crash file and figured it out. This is something someone could have walked me through. I rely on my computer and 3+ days to troubleshoot is way too long for me to be without a computer. The woman told me that is just the way it is. Not good for a business.

Excellent customer service. Brought in 2 laptop computers, one was a simple repair and the second had a few finicky details to work out. Spoke to the technician directly for an explanation (am not a computer person) and they explained all the work and invoice details very thoroughly. At one point I had to speak with Aaron and was extremely satisfied with his customer service and very friendly attitude. Would absolutely recommend in future!

I had been a customer for over a year now.. and I had exceptional service. The first time I was not even charged because my mac book would have been too expensive to repair. They recommended I just go out buy another one rather than waste my money. The second time I brought in my imac which needed a new superdrive they tried to get me one the quickest way they could. However, when I received it back I had problems with it. They picked it up from my own home! When I finally got it repaired which took some time,( although it was not there fault for the wait ). Yet again they made it right-- the owner called being very apologetic and gave me a store discount because of the inconveniences... THANK-YOU NORTHERN PROTOCOL !!!!

Screen Replacement. First screen arrived DOA. Second screen is enroute. Aaron is great at helping solve the issues quickly to ensure total customer satisfaction.

You can't say enough good things about this business. They walked me through purchasing a gaming computer for my son with ease. Each staff member I was in contact with was able to answer all my questions in a friendly manner which I was able to understand. From the front desk staff to the technicians who put the unit together, everyone was excellent. I would buy another computer here or take a computer here to be fixed without hesitation.

I originally gave this company a three-star review, but then the owner called me while I was at work, pressured me into talking about why I wanted to "make (him) look bad on the internet", and then proceeded to call both my cell phone and my house many times that night.

When I called there originally I stated that I knew the issue was the SATA cable, and the representative told me it would be an "easy job. 3-5 days, and a $45 diagnostics fee." In total, the price of the repair job came to $157.07 and took over two weeks.

We have found Northern Protocol and all it's staff go above and beyond in helping their clients CONSISTENTLY. We would recommend their services to absolutely anyone.

Excellent service. Fixed the computer remotely in an hour. I called at noon and had a call back by 1:30. I would highly recommend this company.

I Brought My Computer In And There Was A Communication Error,I Didnt Get What I Whad asked for. I Posted On Here With A Negative Review And Within An Hour I Got A Call From The Owner, on a Sunday afternoon. He Wanted To Rectify This As We Had Just Picked Up The Computer. We Brought The Computer Back Within Half Hour Of The Phonecall And Another Hour After That The Computer Was Fixed And All Issues Resolved.

Overall a great place for computer repair and sales. Unmatched knowledge from the staff and friendly as well! Gave them a complicated build, from multiple systems and I was very impressed. Highly recommend for any thing computer related.

No return policy on used computers, and the ones they have out do not turn on for you to demo. I was not told at time of purchase about this return

Wanted to charge two and a half hours labour at $120 to install a $7 piece (which I bought myself) which would take 15 minutes to complete. Overcharging people on the basis that they think their customers do not know computers is both unprofessional and crooked. Pricing needs reviewed badly.

Edit: That being said they did let me use their equiptment to try myself but without a solder pump I ws unable to do so.

In response: Well you can step up and tell the truth if you want to. If your responding from the Alliston location then you may wish to check your cameras at the Barrie location and you'll see me enter the back area and attempt the fix myself. Lying gets a business no-where. I would also like a public apology.

Update: Still no response to checking tbe cameras which would prove I am right, but alas, liars will hide from the truth.

I had an uninstalled important program which another technician had twice failed to install. It took Derek 10 minutes tops to get things up and running. Northern Protocol is simply the best. But to elaborate, whether in their office, at your home or over the phone, I have never been disappointed. They're friendly, professional and reasonable when they do charge for service (and they've done a number of tasks on my laptop, which I bought off-lease from them) for absolutely no charge. If you need service on your computer, there's no need to look anywhere else... Aaron and his team are top-notch.

To actually get effective service, that solved the problem, on a Sunday after 5PM was just incredible..

I had a fan error on my HP Pavillion. Glad I brought it to Barrie's best computer repair shop. Before charging me for a diagnostic, they checked the fan for dust and a simple application of compressed air solved the problem. Thanks for not taking advantage!

The Microsoft Certified Experts we worked with (Allan and Jim) were courteous, listened to our business concerns, and developed secure, affordable solutions for our server/back up/and remote desk top needs. Aaron and his team are dedicated to customer service along with honest, helpful and prompt communication. I brought my laptop in for a screen replacement and tune-up and it was promptly done. Even when the screen they installed came with one faulty pixel, they promptly contacted their supplier and it was replaced again, no questions asked. Speaking of questions, I'm an experienced user but always have questions of the basic and trending variety, and Aaron and his staff have been nothing but helpful, courteous and very informative.

A great experience from the friendly greetings each time I'd walk-in to the simple explanation of what was going on with my PC. They offered alternative solutions to the problem, with pros and cons of each, which made the decision simple. They did not push the most expensive options, and I found the pricing quite reasonable compared to past experiences with others. Its nice to see the time taken to keep inside of my PC neat and tidy as well as the external add ons match,(unlike past experiences with others). If you want to go with JoeK computers out of their garage cause they're a little cheaper you will get what you pay for. Cheapness. Made that mistake before. Then when problem persists in a few months, try Northern Protocol they'll fix it properly. Definitely a repeat customer.

My laptop was able to power up but screen stays black. Sent in my laptop for checkup and they told me my motherboard burned. My brother from Saskatoon checked my laptop and found out that it was a faulty GPU. The laptop works normally after he took out the GPU

And today I was back in and Brad was able to service the same laptop for a broken optical drive that he took the time to diagnose and fix for "free" warranting the original work. Had a problem with the Hard Drive on my 27" iMac. Read the online reviews about this place which were great. The computer was diagnosed and had a new Hard Drive installed in a matter of days. Price was acceptable. In my experience this shop lived up to its reputation. Based on my experience I would gladly recommend Northern Protocol and I would use them again.

The knowledgeable technicians who work behind the scene did an excellent and expedient repair on my five year old Windows 7 computer following the performed hardware and software diagnostic confirmed major problems in the old original hard drive.

It was a great experience with Northen Protocol. I actually went in search of laptop screws I dont know whether they sell it or not but I got what I'm looking for from ther spare collections. It was crazy searching because there were millions of screws and they also assisted me in searching. Yeah overall I had a great experience with them.

I've always been able to troubleshoot my computers on my own, but last year I finally ran into an issue I couldn't resolve. Northern Protocol was able to find the issue and retrieve all of my data. The process took a number of days and I was pleasantly surprised that NP would call every couple of days with an update on their progress so I wasn't kept in the dark about how it was going.

I met Aaron Weston of Northern Protocol about seven years ago while working as the promotions consultant for a medical facility. The clinic had drawn on me for technical assistance in running their network, but with the introduction of electronic records and new regulations we had to call in true experts in network and online integration and security.

In spite of being light years ahead in knowledge compared to everybody in the clinic, including me, Aaron and his team worked with us, and never over us. They respected that we all had our own areas of expertise, and we were working as a team. They listened to our questions, they did not belittle any concerns, and they implemented policies, safeguards, and training to effectively bridge from old technology to new, and to implement effective countermeasures to problems, including some pre-existing the upgrade.

My contract with the clinic ended, but I have since maintained contact with Aaron, and I have happily sent to him several clients; all of whom have spoken very highly of this work.

I've dealt with NPC from business and personal perspectives. In both cases they've been professional, prompt and courteous. Staff is always friendly and ready to answer questions. I didn't find that anytime I went there was a huge wait, which is nice (Barrie Location). I typical use them for things beyond my capabilities since I can manage the basics myself. Last time I brought my personal computer in, then cleaned it all out while doing their inspection which was nice to see.

I got my computer fixed here just before school started in September during their busy time of year, they were quick and very helpful and i feel i got what i paid for. I had a 2nd issue come up with my computer about 3-4 days after having gotten it back, they fixed the 2nd issue and didn't even charge me for their time, just the replacement part. They were always friendly and helpful! I will totally be bringing my computer and other electronics back to this place!

This is my fourth time using this firm over a number of years. I have had both, in house and office visits. I'm always impressed with the professionalism of the staff, their knowledge base and the speed with which they are able to serve you.
