These guys are great!! I have used them to fix my laptop when I broke my screen and spilled liquids all over it! We also use Northern Protocol for our business here at D. Carr Excavating and they come as soon as they can which both times has been within an hour. When they come they always fix the issues. They are awesome!!

They also know how to explain things in terms that everyone can understand.

I had an issue with my Mac book pro. I took it in had the problem diagnosed in a timely manner and fixed quickly too for a reasonable price.

I went to Northern Protocol 2 years ago in hopes that they could help me build a personal computer. The customer service and overall friendliness I encountered was extraordinary. They were 100% willing to help and work with me to give me the best product that was within my price range. From the list of parts I had given them they offered advice on which to stick with, and which to avoid or change. Being a computer building novice at the time, this advice was extremely helpful. I ended up with a product within my budget, that was actually above and beyond my expectations going into the purchase.

The computer 2 years later is still in great working condition and I consider it one of the smartest investments I've ever made. I have zero complaints, and I look forward to my next interaction with the very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

The woman at the store who took our laptop's problems was thorough and explained the process. After we had okayed the repair estimate we got a call a day later to say it was ready for pick up. Rewriting this review after Aaron from the staff at Northern Protocol spent nearly an hour on the phone helping me with the issues in wiring with my computer. He is eager to help with anything that has issues and stayed on the phone to make sure everything was working as it should. 10/10 Northern Protocol, would shop again.

Wow! Very happy with my service I received. Had an issue with my gaming pc and took it to northen protocol, it was there for about 5 days but came back and they found the issue. Took it home and the system is working great again !

These guys are legitimus maximus. PERIOD!

I was in a pinch and needed some unusual screws to get my PC going for the weekend. I came here and they spent 20 minutes rooting around a big bucket of screws to find what I needed and wouldn't take a dime. That's 100% good service right there. I suspect you will be well taken care of if you go here.

I had a wonderful experience here. Friendly staff, great and fast service. I went in for a laptop repair and ended up leaving with a new computer due to the old one being beyond fixing, and the staff made the overall experience pleasant despite the bummer of losing my files and having to spend cash. Helpful and friendly every step of the way, 100% would recommend!

Edit: I just went back after a year with a few factory and performance issues with my computer. I cannot express how highly I would recommend this location, always on the side of the customer and providing above and beyond service. If there was a 6th star I'd hit it. When I decided to build myself an expensive gaming computer, I had to do a lot of research on the parts I needed to get the performance I desired for the streaming and many games I play. With the help of the people at Northern Protocol, I learned much more about the parts in question. They explained the depth of the specs of each item, and discussed price options that fit within my budget. A gentleman named John took charge of assembling my computer once I had ordered all of the parts, and I have to admit that I am overly satisfied! The organization of all of the cables was flawless, everything worked cleanly as expected, and the technical support he provided was great! He seemed almost as excited as I was to have it built :). When I encountered a software problem that I didn't understand about activating my second hard drive, I gave them a ring and they answered and addressed my issue as quickly as they could, and it was shortly resolved over the phone with much professionalism. There front desk customer service is also something I really valued, in addition to their computer knowledge and service expertise.

Northern Protocol is a Barrie based company, and if your in the area, I highly recommend going to them with any computer inquiries. Being a small company that they are, it seems that they really value their individual customers and rely on local advertising/word of mouth for their business. The staff they have on hand seem to all be very rehearsed in their respective computer fields, and are also very friendly and informative to customers. I believe they are a much better option than the big named companies like Best Buy or Future Shop. Friendly small town customer service goes a long way, and I am very glad to have discovered Northern Protocol.

All in all, Aaron Weston is running a great business, with good staffing and computer expertise to answer any purchasing, troubleshooting or general questions one may have. And lastly as a result, I have one BEAST of a computer!!!

Northern Protocol , Aaron Weston and his team are amazing !! They have helped my self and others out with lap tops , computer Towers and printer issues. Service is outstanding !! Aaron is always always available as well as his staff. He has also helped my parents out who are senior citizens !!! They were unable to get to his site and he had staff go to them !!! AMAZING SERVICE! Aaron and his team from Northern Protocol have been my consistent go to for computer service for over 6 years now. I had built a computer with their guidance on custom parts, and it's still running at peak condition due to Northern Protocols consistent support. Even now that I have moved to Western Canada, they are happy to answer any questions I may have, most recently providing some advice on replacing a case fan, and recommending a graphics card upgrade based on my computers specs that I eagerly want for my PC.

Went in to get a data transfer from hard drives that I have save over the years, I brought in a functioning external drive and a computer tower. Was told that my tower was old tech and needed replacing (not sure but I think it was 7 years old). Also told that only 4 of the 7 hard drives were functional. They tore the external apart and told me that the data was not accessible. I ended up buying a new tower and spending WAY too much for what they did and the tech recommended. They even kept my old tower also.....I successfully retrieved ALL my data... Never again, will I use or recommend the services of Northern Protocol. Save your money and go somewhere else!

UPDATE:

Since I place the less than satisfactory service received from Northern Protocol. The owner called me twice and also called my employer twice in attempts to get me in trouble because of the sensitivity of the possible images and documents on the drives there were none . In my initial post I said that I brought my hard drives to another computer store, my mistake I did it myself and following threat of legal action against me from the owner I removed that comment. My apologies if I lead anyone astray. Like you Aaron, in my line of work we record all our phone calls. But we do not use them to threaten legal action against a customer that complain about our services.

The work these guys do is simply amazing. This is now the 3rd time I've used their services and could not be happier. They have replaced my trackpad on my macbook twice (due to my own fault), both times with zero issues. Recently I did quite a bit of damage to my macbook by dropping it about 4 feet. After the drop, I started noticing issues right away, so I brought it in to Northern Protocol. Their staff was able to do a hardware diagnostic and found that my hard drive was damaged. They replaced my Macs hard drive with a SSD drive, transferred all my files from my old hard drive to the new SSD, and were even able to get my old operating system back on it (haven't updated my operating system in a few years due to compatibility issues with programs I use). Simply amazing work, fair pricing, and within 3 business days I had my macbook back in my possession with all my files restored. Thank you very much to the entire team at Northern Protocol. I look forward to doing business with these guys again in the future.

It's fixed or it's free isn't just a flimsy promise - they live by this - worked on my laptop 3 days and couldn't revive it - so free. Then helped me to get a new system and set it up. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Professional, and great communication.

When you are out of the Country and your computer fails you, who do you call? Aaron at Northern Protocol. I am originally from Barrie Ontario and since have moved to the United States. I was experiencing a few issues and technical difficulties with my lap top. I messaged Aaron and asked for his help, and though we are now in two different countries, he was able to use a program to work directly inside my computer and correct what needed correction, add and delete what was needed for the performance of my lap top to get back on track. Aaron dedicated over 2 hours of his time tonight, to the satisfaction of his client, myself. I just bought a Eurocom (a Canadian company!) laptop from Northern Protocol. Aaron took the time to listen to my requirements and budget and was able to suggest different manufacturer models and configurations that would be suitable for a high school student's needs (and wants) prior to the actual purchase. We went in to the Barrie location yesterday, saw the display model that met her requirements and took it home right then and there :) Excellent prices and helpful staff :) Will definitely be going there for any service needs as well for my own laptop :)

My older brother Mike, would always use Northern Protocol if and when any of his computers, where being stubborn, Mike swore by their Honestly and great knowledge of his wares. My brother funny enough, built & programed Automated Robots for the Automobile industry, but never wanted to learn the fixing or building of the tools (computer) he used to on a daily basis, no different than a mechanic fixing his diagnosis equipment. I only mentioned it because Mike if anyone would be able to pick out a dishonest person, and that's the furthest that Northern Protocol is, they are Very Honest, hardworking, plesent, as they can be. Excellent service! Incredibly knowledgably staff, let me know exactly what they were doing and why, answered all questions along the way. I would definitely suggest Northern Protocol for your computer needs!

Told me I needed my entire motherboard replaced which seemed questionable to me, but fine. It was like $600.. Then when I got my laptop back they returned it to me with a faulty battery. Nothing to do with my original concern. Now my laptop shuts off if it's unplugged since the battery doesn't work. How does this happen? Poor experience. Now I'm left to buy a new battery out of pocket.

I have now purchased 2 computers from Northern Protocol, and have had several experiences when I've had to call on them to trouble shoot issues and provide general assistance. A few things have struck me:

First: They never make me feel like I'm unintelligent. I don't know a lot of computer "lingo," and so the desk staff and technicians always explain things to me in a way that I can understand.

Second: They are always straightforward and sincere. They never beat around the bush. If there was a genuine problem, they would tell me, and I never felt like I was being up-sold. Very quickly, they earned my trust. They really want to figure out the problem.

Third: They are competitively priced. In fact, I often walk away thinking, Shouldn't I have paid more for that?

Last: They are super-accessible. Do you ever think, 'Man, I wish I could call someone and talk to an actual human to help me fix this problem?' Me too. And that's what you get at Northern Protocol. They are efficient, have your best interests at heart, and really want to help you. I have friends who are less helpful!

When I first moved to Ontario I had another internet supplier that was unbelievably slow and even unreliable. When we switched to NPI we couldn't believe how fast we were able to download/upload and have not had any interruptions in service since signing up with them. I went to Northern Protocol in Barrie on Bayfield street due to my external hard drive acting up. They were exceptional. They were very friendly and easy to talk to. Aaron and his team are TOP DOGs! I liked that I was able to work with the tech and get exactly what I needed. Yang was able get my old DOS software running under Windows 7. Aaron's remote support was fantastic and was able to get my printers and scanners running.

We met to discuss our clinic systems and from that recommendations were made to fit our needs. A quick turnaround to schedule the tech team...Chis & Allan are AMAZING! They really know the full scope! They also have great personalities and keep it simple for us to understand and easy to function. What I respect is they completed the work! We ran into some snags with godaddy and they took the time to get it done with no drama. I have been left in the past, and understand the headaches IT can be. Recently, I have had the opportunity to work with Aaron directly in developing my website. My experience with Aaron was very pleasant and positive. Aaron was very patient and accommodating. A lot of patience was required, as I was very new to the the experience of developing a website. Aaron was very professional and talented in producing the work for my website. We had many conversations and changes, all of which Aaron did professionally and patiently. He was very knowledgeable and creative, things much needed when working with people who are new to this experience and people who may not be as creative. Further, when asked to make changes that were challenging, he took on the challenge without resistance and made it happen. Added to the above was the fact that the cost was affordable and reasonable. Overall, it was a very pleasant and wonderful experience working with Northern Protocol and Aaron.
