My father, with dementia, was treated terribly.
1st Er visit they sent him home even though he still couldn t walk. I shouldn t have taken him
There again. Finally admitted the next day, he was ok but declined with a couple of days...I m hearing from visitors that came when we weren t around, were abruptly told to leave and couldn t come back because he has to be changed embarrassing him.
The night nurses yelled at him and
Within 3 days he stopped eating and then they lied to us about the rehab facility and what they would do for him just to get him out of there. Another disaster! But the social worker didn t want to Do more work and look for a better facility.
She then signed the release form where family was supposed to sign because my mother told her she wouldn t sign until I got there to translate what she was signing.

I saw nurses being yelled at by supervisors and other nurses angry and throw tantrums
They don t care about the patients

My father will to survive and his dignity dies there.

If I had gone to a different hospital, my father would still be with us.

If I was bleeding out right in front of their doors, i wouldn t go there!!

This hospital may be one of the worst place to visit. Patient care is unbelievable. The only way to see a doctor speedily in the emergency room is if you are on the verge of dying. If your child is sick, please do not take them to this emergency room. They are not equipped to handle your child needs. I would strongly recommend you take them to the Children hospital (Maria Fareri Children's Hospital) in White Plains/ Valhalla NY. It s shameful that this hospital is located in Bronxville as the quality of service doesn t match the affluent area of Bronxville.

A message complaint from 3 years ago I realized I never made public.

Good Evening All,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am VERY hesitant to write this message considering the circumstances of the situation.
Also, please note I have omitted the names and gender of my family from this email for fear of retaliation from any doctors or nurses involved.

The circumstances of the situation is as follows;
A close family member of mine has recently been admitted to NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville. During their stay, another family member visits them quite regularly and speaks with doctors and nurses concerning medication, dosages, treatment and other options in hopes of getting my ill family member well. This family member is also very particular in that they like to write things down like the names and dosages of drugs being administered.

On Friday, November 10, 2017 from 1AM to 2AM I had this same visiting family member complain to me that on several occasions throughout the week doctors and nurses spoke to them in a very unpleasant manner and also berated the patient (my family member) on some occasions. One doctor in particular spoke to them in a VERY harsh, unprofessional and condescending manner. The family member also stated on one occasion a "nurse" had administered a higher dosage than necessary of a drug (this drug being MORPHINE) to my ill family member. When questioned as to why HE did this he could not provide an answer. When questioned as to why the lower dosage, which the doctor had told my visiting relative, was not administered HE could not provide an answer.

Please be reminded these complaints as well as a few others were being brought at 1am in the morning by a very concerned individual.

Now I would have considered this an exaggeration had I not experienced something similar myself.

On Friday, November 10, 2017 @ approximately 8pm I visited my ill relative at Lawrence Hospital. Upon arrival I found that the relative that had been complaining to me was there.

During my visit my visiting family member asked my ill family member, "Are you in any pain?"
Their response was, "Yes."

My visiting family member asked, 'What is your pain level?'
Their response was "6."

(Something interesting to note... My visiting family member was told by one of your doctors that the lower dosage of Morphine would be administered for pain levels 6 and below.)

My visiting family member proceeded to press the call button for the nurse on duty.
The nurse came and asked my sick family of their pain level. Again they responded, "6."

The nurse left the room and returned with the higher dosage of Morphine. When asked 4 times, 3 of which were ignored ( I am a witness to this), why she is giving the higher dosage if the doctor said at pain level 6 and below the lower dosage would be administered, her response was, "I don't see that written anywhere."
She then says she would give a little less than the higher dosage. Which I don't even know if this was done or not.

BUT what I do know for sure is rather than typing pain level at 6 into the computer system the nurse did in fact type in 7 (the pain level for the higher dosage).
If she/they had not been told this, why type pain level as 7 into the computer? A little strange don't you think?

This leads me to believe that the complaints my family member made to me had some substance which is the reason for this email today.

This is in no way a joke! It is genuine concern and fear for the well being of my family member, your patient who is under your care.

Sincerely,

I highly recommend you NOT to attend this hospital. Yes certain staff were a pleasure, over all the doctors have HORRIBLE bedside manner and nurses are nonchalant about their jobs. When being admitted to a hospital, it is so you can begin a journey of recovery -NYP made things WORST. thumbs down.

If my family member was in this hospital any longer she would have died, this hospital said they could do nothing for her and while she was in there she was worse then before she was admitted. She s in another hospital now and they are giving her treatment and she is getting better and better. Thanks Laurance your really saving lives

I walked in to the ER with abdominal and let me tell and i dont know why people complain about this place,I only waited about an hour and a half to be called in(compare to 4 hour wait at the hospital in NYC) and the nurses and doctors were great during my stay(i had to be admitted) couldn't ask for a better treatment and care. specially nurse Jade.

I had a really bad experience. I went there for chest, neck pain, headache, left side numbness, difficulty breathing and nausea. The person who took my vitals was very unprofessional, he did not know how to put properly the blood pressure cuff. Then when they took me to a room at the emergency department, a lady asked me for my urine example which she never took from my room. Then the physician, an old man which I thought could have had some experience, didn t show any care, didn t know the possible reasons why I was in pain. He also told me to go home without even take any exams to determine anything. They just took my vitals and that was it. I totally regret about going there and do not recommend it to anybody.

My husband has been there since 10.30 with chest pains and it s 1.30am still sitting here. Worst hospital should have gone to White Plains hospital never use them again. Folks do your self a favor and go to the Bronx you are better off.

After going to Montefiore s ER on Gun Hill rd in the Bronx for the flu, we came here and received the proper treatment. Lawrence Hospital performed all the necessary tests to confirm and treat the flu, where Montefiore didn t even do a simple nasal swab. The wait time is usual considering we are in the middle of the flu epidemic, but once you re in you are in good hands!

Though I have never (and don't plan to become one) been a patient at this hospital, I am an EMT of a busy 911 agency that frequently transports patients here. I can speak from personal experience that ER waiting times are excessive. At one point, we had transported a female with facial trauma needing stitches. We came back 4.5 hours to find her still waiting for treatment. I have also ran into several (I'd say 85%) nurses who are completely rude and utterly unprofessional. Will roll eyes, give you an attitude, etc. when asking for the slightest of favors and or information. I can say that Maternity and Pediatric beds/floors/areas have better, more professional and friendlier staff. If you can afford it, go to White Plains, friendlier staff, less waiting, better patient interaction. At the end of the day, a hospital is a hospital, and I'm sure (I hope) that ER staff/Docs will treat serious injuries with a better sense of urgency than what I've seen.

I thought Montifore, North Central, Jacobi, Saint Barnabas and Lebanon hospitals were the worst, Lawrence hospital topped all the above hospitals today, November 26, 2018.
I contacted my dads primary doctor office and spoke to an on call provider who took my phone number and a physician called me back. I explained to the on call physician that my dad was not feeling well and that he also has a condition and the physician instructed me to take him to the emergency room.
He arrived at the emergency room at 9:00pm , gave his name date of birth, signed a paper, an I d placed on his wrist and was asked to sit down. Fifteen minutes later, I walked to the reception desk and told them he had a condition waited another 10 minutes and he was called to check his vitals and asked twait. We waited from 9:00pm to 12:05am and he still was not seen by a doctor.
At 12:05am, I once again went to the reception desk to ask how many patients before he would be called and they told me that he needed to be registered before seeing a doctor.
That s when my 74 year old dad decided that he could not wait any longer and wanted to go home.
I asked the person who was going to register my dad why it took 3 hours to register and she claimed that there were many patients being bought in via ambulance. Liar!
I made clear, that I was going to contact the insurance to inform them that they should not be charged because he was not seen.
This hospital has down graded. You have security guards who are chatting and on there phones around the reception area. One particular receptionist, looked as if she was asleep and looked like she did not want to be bothered when questioned.
Think twice before going to Lawernce Hospital emergency room. You will be waiting hours before you see a doctor.

I totally agree with the previous review and a special thanks to my gynecologist Dr. Pan who recommended me this place even though I live next to a difference Hospital. I could not expect better for my first child and I will definitely come back for my next one(s). Everyone and everything was amazing from the doctors, nurses, my room, service, food and even the housekeepers!

I went to Lawrence on January 16th 2018 to deliver twins via C section.... My nurse Patricia met me and my husband at the door of the L&D ward. Beautiful human being. She assisted me like my mother through surgery and even the day after.... My other nurses Janet, Katie (Katherine), Jung, Sheeba, Liz and last but by no means least Mary, were all angels. They took care of me, my twins and my husband like we were family... I wont be having anymore babies but I will definitely be recommending Lawrence to any and everyone who needs a hospital with wonderful staff to have their babies... Oh Holly in Ultrasound, thank you, thank you, thank you for putting every thing together for me... You are a blessing.

Alas, I cannot give their ER high marks. The tech was downright unpleasant and failed to follow through on her work on multiple occasions. Then I couldn t get them to provide a call button and more than two hours passed before anyone looked in on me, despite my calling out repeatedly when I was in distress. Won t be going back.

Horrible staff. What a disaster and mess.

Horrible staff. What a disaster and mess.
1st when I arrived I was told I was not on the system and I may not get my procedure done. She said to me many people show up thinking they have called. Luckily I was able to prove that I called and scheduled an appointment.

2nd I was sent to radiology late because the first person messed up and Myrna accusing me of being late when her co- worker messed and told her the incident.

3rd Myrna full of confidence told me she make sure to give me the CD. right after my procedure I specifically reminded her for the CD she disappears and did not take care or start the process. I had to tell the next specialist to get the CD .

they take to long to call you and the e.r is empty. they look at you like if you were crazy and dont know what your talking about. ex: my chest is hurting me and its my asthma. oh how you know its asthma, well im weezing and my chest is tight and im having trouble breathing. they looked lost andnlike they didnt know what to do. ont recommend anyone to that hospital. its a waste of time and management needs to step up their game if they want to stay opened.

I have been in this emergency hospital many times and every was so great. Past 2 times but especially today on 2/3/18 I see a lot of new faces in the front desk and they have no clue what they are doing. My husband has a twisted knee and a lot of pain. They kept telling me give 2 min and will call you. We waited for 2 hours without any doctor seeing him and when I checked with the front desk they said he is good to go, he is discharged. I m like what. These people have no clue what they are doing it s been approximately 5 and half hours waiting before calling us in this is super terrible and very disappointed

Went there once 8 years ago in the middle of the night for a tooth infection, immediate care. Went there a week ago for incredible pain, was left in ER for 30 hours while they did tests, only after screaming for pain meds was I given first pain relief after 12 hours of suffering. Not allowed to drink for 30 hours, throat swelled up from dryness. Surgery next morning, discharged next day, never slept due to noise level of grand central station, most staff have zero realization what time it is.
The surgeon was good, some night staff were good, but communication sucked. Was supposed to be put on patch because I am smoker, but nurses never told by ER, was supposed to be on solid foods after surgery, but no one ever told kitchen, so for three days all I had was ginger ale and jello.
These guys need a lot of work.

The worst hospital to go to. Sitting in the emergency room for 5 hours with no explanation and I still wasn t seen until minutes after. Patients going in before me because of their condition is not right. A 5 hour wait while you re in pain and nothing given to you. I will never go there again.

Their bill may be expensive after deductible from insurance, but the service is worth it comparing to others emergency room I have been to before. Definitely better than Jacobi hospital. No doubt.

Despite a few hard working staff members, this hospital is ill equipped for critical care. It's fine for minor incidents, tests and voluntary procedures as long as the patient has a sharp health care proxy to clarify any specific needs and to monitor any mistakes. They are particularly poor with eldercare. The doctors communicate abominably both with the patients and each other. Again that is why the more complex the case the worse this hospital. The administrative staff is hit or miss as is the nursing staff but this is typical of any hospital. However there were a few nurses lacking basic critical skills and experience such as catheterization, blood drawing and administering an IV not to mention the rough physical treatment.
In an emergency, Do not take an elderly or critically ill patient to this hospital.

I had a freak accident on the morning of January 15,2016 and Lawerence Hospital made me feel at home. Dr. Polakoski is the best. He stitched my forearm/wrist back together.
The entire staff and nurses all the way down to maintenance are compassionate.
Highly reccomended

No continuity of care. The right hand never knows what the left hand is doing. They did NOTHING to facilitate a positive experience for my grandmother's care. She suffered unnecessarily because they couldn't get through their own red tape. This hospital is a joke.

Eeeek! Avoid ER. No sense of urgency or triage when my hand was dripping with blood (lacerated). Parking garage staff didn t care either. Good lord. I did go to Montefioere Urgent Care on Central Ave just north of cross county and received EXCELLENT care.

I only put 1 Star because I couldn t put Zero!!! ER Wait is beyond ridiculous . Not enough doctors or rooms. The parking situation is even worse. Worst hospital ever. Will drive the extra 15 minutes to go to White Plains.

Today a good or shall I say great memory was made at Lawrence Hospital. Staff welcomed me with opened arms. Made a 15 platter delivery of sandwiches along with food and beverages too. They appreciated our efforts . I can only offer food to them because I am not a hospital employee nor does it interest me to become an employee but that just means that the people who work at the hospital are willing to go to school to educate themselves so that they can provide care to people. I honestly admire the people who can do this. Thanks for the amazing memory that you have made today. Keep up the great job....

HORRENDOUS experience at the ER, I arrived on Jan. 24th. at 1:47 PM Chest Discomfort, was taken into an unclean room trash overflowing from trash can given and EKG told to remove the contacts that were stuck to my chest if I wanted to. Had to wait in the Waiting Room until 8:07 PM before being seen. OVER 6 HOURS. The Waiting Room became packed people eating food from containers, someone ordered pizza, people sitting on the floor in the hallway eventually they brought folding chairs. Several people left because of the conditions. Calling patients to be seen by someone shouting out names from behind the reception desk over the noise in the waiting room. Disgusting a Third World experience.

The staff has been extremely compassionate and professional and attentive to all my mothers needs. I could not have asked for better medical care from Dr Theo Nowakiwskyi he took my mother's case knowing how difficult the situation was and gave us the most respect and medical care for my mom I can only respond by the experience prior I originally took my mother to Lincoln Hospital where she was cared for dehydration and diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver then she was placed in a nursing home for rehabilitation soon after she had a UTI and was taken to Lawrence hospital. we are so grateful for all there care

The E.R is disgusting. The only reason I gave it a star is because I couldn t put zero. I went to the E.R recently because my son had broken his arm in the play group. My mistake was taking him to this hospital. I will never again step foot in this E.R. The doctors seem like they got their license out of a Cheerios box. The doctor that saw my sons X-rays said that he would need surgery right away. She said that a cast was not sufficient and that they would have to open his arm and put screws. She kept pressuring my husband and I to make a decision. Thankfully, my husband made some calls to different doctors including my sons PCP and we were able to make the right decision and take him to the children s hospital in Westchester. It s turns out the Doctor from the emergency room was wrong. My son went to the children s hospital in Westchester and they said that his arm would heal perfectly fine without surgery. He now has a cast and is doing fine. Laurence hospital needs better qualified Doctors in the E.R. They also need to teach Doctors and staff how to have better bedside manners. It would also help if the they had clean rooms. I can go on and on about my horrible experience.

My niece almost died at this hospital recently. S...

My niece almost died at this hospital recently. She had a scheduled hysterectomy and it turned into a disaster. A 4 hr surgery turned into 10 hrs because her gyn (Dr. Hughes) ruptured her bladder. She remained open for an hour before they got a trauma surgeon to repair it. Then a few days later she was vomiting bile and was in great pain. Meanwhile, they were trying to transport her to Columbia Presbyterian in NYC which became a problem in itself because they didn't want to be responsible for another hospital's wrongdoings. On top of it all, she developed "ICU delerium" which was very traumatic for the whole family. She became unresponsive, and wouldn't sleep or eat. She was finally transferred to Columbia Presbyterian 3 days later. They immediately found that her bowels were ruptured. At this point her lungs were also filling with fluid and they had to intubate her. They had to go back in, repair her bowels and remove part of her intestines. She was septic. At this hospital they couldn't believe what had happened to her and said the other hospital shouldn't have waited to do anything when she was vomiting bile. She could have died. On top of it all, the ER and ICU doctors were unprofessional, and extremely rude to her family. At one point when my niece was in so much pain "Dr. George" asked, "What do you want us to do, "Put her on life support?" Her gyn admitted that she made a mistake. Columbia Presbyterian treated my niece and her whole family with dignity, were very attentive to my niece and helpful to the family. In order to post this I had to give a rating. I gave one star. But Lawrence Hospital doesn't even deserve one star.

I liked nothing I brought my 14 month old in with a bead stuck in her nose and watched 4 ppl who where there after me get seen mean while my baby's nose is bleeding and her asthma stated acting up and the only reason they seen me quickly was because they had to call the police because I had to explain to the nurse that I am a nurse and ABC is a requirement to be seen first. This hospital is not good at all for children they don't even have peds doctors in the ER

Terrible experience I will never forget. I lost respect for this hospital. Was having a brain hemorrhage last summer meanwhile front receptionist and nurse or whatever side-eyed my symptoms as if I were pregnant. It took hours for the physician Doctor to request a CT Scan after my mother insisted and hold and behold a tumor bleeding. absolutely disgusted. Now that I am doing a bit better I was just reminded after passing here. No way I m going here for anything. So traumatic.

I would say you are putting yourself at risk if you need to have a serious procedure done here. It s not well run and many of the nurses have to help random people because the person who is supposed to help them isn t there. I felt completely unsafe upon entering registration...and that was just the beginning. My husband almost had a breakdown because he was so disgusted with the place. We got there for a scan at 1:30 and left 3.5 hours later, is that normal? I guess in NYC and Bronxville it is. How the hell are they getting away with being such an incompetent place and have not been sued?? The place needs more money invested so they can run the place properly and stop putting patients at their mercy. It s become like a 3rd world country... never going back

They nurses or front desk people don t have a clue what s going on took 6+ hours to be seen after they said only 2 people ahead of me and that was 3 hours in. One nurse and 2 security guards even admitted this place sucks and not efficient how they used to be. I was told if I left to get a bite to eat they will take me off the list no matter how many people are ahead of me and that someone will bring a kart of food that was a lie on several occasions.

This hospital employs thieves! Do not send your loved one there with anything because they won't be able to find it. Patient services will say they are investigating and give you no details about that investigation. They will only say the investigation is complete and too bad for you. We have evidence that my father entered their facility with his personal belongings including a solid gold chain. All gone! This isn't an isolated incident either, many people have told me they had similar experiences. Wallets stolen and then returned missing money and credit cards. Credit cards used fraudulently. Many people think highly of this hospital because it's in Bronxville, NY but do not be fooled!

This Hospital isn't what it was few years back, the emergency department last more than two hours to take care of each patient, the waiting area had a lot of garbage on the floor and each time you asked the front desk a question their answer was "I don't know I'm not a doctor". Even if the question was about how far were you in the waiting list smh.
I'm not a super fan of St. Johns Riverside but I would rather go there than here.

Worst experience here. Granted, my symptoms were not life threatening, but I was in alot of pain. Waited two hours, and they knew it would be a two hour wait, but of course did not advise when I arrived. I expected better service, since there was ONE other person in the waiting room. I arrived at 7am, they scheduled me with a doctor starting his shift at 9am!

Went to ER after dog bite when I was 9 weeks pregnant and the PA was trying to convince me to take medication that could have potentially killed my baby as she and the staff kept saying I was "only 9 weeks". They never tried to contact my OB and wouldn't do a sonogram until my husband had enough and demanded one. Forget the fact I was left in the ER with open and bleeding wounds for over 8 hours without 1 person trying to at least bandage it up. One star because I can't give less.

This hospital is the worst. The worst experience I ve had. My boyfriend has something like muscle spasm, he can t move his back or walk, he can barely even talk from the pain. He ended up at the ER at 11:30pm, it s currently 2:30AM and we still haven t been seen by anyone. We waited 2 hours to get put into a room which isn t even a room for ourselves, it s a room filled with other tiny stretchers and the heat it up to a million degrees when the hallways are nice and cold. I had to stand outside the room so I can breathe and also find a nurse because there is literally one person working. He told us the doctor is coming soon, and told me I m unfair for asking him if it is going to take long... not to mention there was people basically dying in the waiting room and
No one cared. This hospital is the worst. I work at Westchester Medical Center and there is probably like 15 nurses working so everyone is around to help. I even tried to use the emergency button for someone to come help us but no one came. As I was saying. Go to WMC. Much better service, we should ve went there but he was already here in Bronxville.

My water broke at 32 weeks and they don t deliver babies until 34. With waiting and labor and after it was the greatest experience I had. The nurses were so nice and very attentive. The staff really made a difference in my stay there, I was there for almost a month because my baby was in the NICU for 2 weeks as well.

I used to come here and have very pleasant experiences but since it became NYP it has been absolutely horrific and overcrowded. The last time I came with a friend and he ended up leaving because of the wait. Tonight I came for myself and after 2.5 hours of waiting I asked if they had an ETA on when I might be seen. She responded that it would be about 4 hours longer. I saw numerous people leave the waiting room but I only saw one person leave the ER the whole time I was there. I read on numerous websites that if you have abdominal pain you should go to a hospital immediately. What's the point of going immediately for something possibly life threatening if they are going to dump you in the waiting room? I was also informed that I would receive a bill for triage. Wow. You leave me there for 2.5 hours and want me to pay for the privilege of getting my temperature taken and explaining to the nurse that Sunday to Tuesday is not 4 days. Twice.

The ER nurses of Lawrence hospital are the worst, their attitude is so bad, no compassion to the patients or the families. Some of the ER nurses act as if they own the whole Presbyterian .

The worst ER we have ever been to.

Loved all the Employees I dealt with from the security who were very friendly when I walked into the main entrance. The women who helped me in admitting was very friendly she had dark hair and glasses very nice. Went to have my bloods drawn land the girl there was a Sweetheart wish I knew her name. I'm terrified of needles she was very understanding and made me feel comfortable. Very good Experience at the lab she had dark hair glasses she's a great person and very friendly.

So surprised at all the negative reviews. I feel like we are talking about 2 totally different hospitals. My father was seen immediately in the ER and from there the care even got better. The transporters were friendly and caring. The staff though busy, kept me informed and made me comfortable as well as him. They had him in a room quickly. The staff on the floors from the CNAs to the house doctors and pastoral staff were caring and professional as well as supportive. When it came time for hospice Dad had a private room and nothing but caring people and peaceful surroundings to ease his way out of our world. I could not be more grateful and impressed. I was there every day but one for 3 weeks and I never had a rude encounter or felt his needs were being neglected in any way. When all was said and done I still received phone calls from several staff checking on me. I have told many people including my family, if I ever have to be hospitalized I want to be there.

The absolute worst. I wish I could give less than one star. I went with my niece who was having a terrible allergic reaction. She was only 1 year old and had a history of eczema, allergies, and was pre-mature so was skinnier than most children. The second a woman saw her, she accused my entire family of being stupid as if we weren't trying everything in the book to help her. He grabbed my niece from her mother and my niece was screaming. She's insanely attached to the mother and grandmother than rocks her to sleep while she's dealing with all her uncomfortable issues. These people are supposed to work with children and their families in a respectable and professional way. Instead, she screamed and made a scene in the emergency room. Of course my family got defensive, we left and went to Westchester children's hospital in white plains. I will never bring my niece of any child I care for there.

This is the worst hospital I ever been in. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT TO MY WORST ENEMY. The stuff is very disorganized, even with 2 people in the emergency room it takes u a minimum of 6 hours u see a doctor. And once u do u wait another 2 hours b4 u risive any treatment. Two time I been to this hospital and after waiting for 6 hours in pain I was send away without any treatment they said they couldn't help me. And they send me bills for thousands of dollars for treatment that I didn't ricieve. Even with my insurance.

Nursing staff is okay, but the wait is actually disgusting. Waited 3.5 hours with an open wound Before seeing a doctor. Even when I was called an given a room. The doctor didn t enter until over 20 min later. If you re in actual need of care DO NOT GO HERE. Highly unorganized and inconsiderate knowing well aware that the wait is sooooo long. Even when the waiting room is completely empty I ve never had a wait that was shorter than 2+ hours, before even being seen let alone treated. Worst excuse for a hospital.
