Was here for 4 hours would give no stars if i could. My son had problems and yet no one would help and could not tell us anything about the wait time but yet staff just stood around ordering food

Unacceptable customer service in response time trying to book a follow up for the Hand Clinic after my daughter was seen at Urgent Care on E Broad. They said we needed to be seen within two days. I called 5 separate times waited on hold for 20-30 minutes and no one ever picked up. I can't wait longer due to my job. I called the operator to send a message to department with my number and requested an appointment thru the on-line portal. No response AT ALL!!! Onto Ortopedic One who answered the phone and scheduled an appointment within 5 minutes

I have a preemie right now at Nationwide. If you have a preemie and you have a choice don't come to Nationwide. They have 36 beds in a very close confined area. It is constantly noisey. It is not very peacefull place for you child to grow strong. On top of that seems like a perfect place for germs to spread. This is what I expect to see in a third world country not in one of the top ten children's hospital in the US. I am sure all the people are top notch. Just a horrible environment to have a preemie grow strong peacefully.

This place is a mess...for the last 6 months my son has been sick..I been to urgent care 5 times and the er 3 times.my son even got sick because of the meds they gave him! Only thing the doctors do is listen to him and boom that s it. No other testing or anything!

If your child has to be admitted then there's probably not a better place for them to be. However, visiting the emergency room is a different experience altogether. Be prepared to wait a very long time to be called back and be prepared to set in a room for a very long time.

We gave up on taking our daughter to the ER for anything and we go to Dublin Methodist instead.

The surgery was good. The process overall was good, even with the strain of current events. Real reason it s two stars almost one is the runaround and lies. Surgeon was in last night, talked about how great she was doing, no reason we wouldn t go home in the morning, he d be in at eight AM to see her. Nighttime physician was impressed and said we would be going home in the morning, nighttime physician checked on her at six thirty this morning, said she was great we were going home this morning. Team checked at eight AM and said we were getting discharged. Now we are being told we have to stay till two PM. I have made multiple trips to the cafeteria and vending machines to get my daughter drinks and food. The liquids and nutrition that is provided to her is not near enough. Beyond healthy enough and ready to go home. Want this review gone. Discharge is already.

Terrible place with employees with bad attitudes. More than a 5 hour wait time with no communication. I ask them about how long more it would take to check her ? So they said they don t have times to see them they just passing to the kids more sick. So my child Is with a high heart rate and temp, and is supposed to sit in the waiting room with no way to monitor her temp or meds to give her. Very unprofessional, terrible customer service/patient care. If I could give negative stars I would.

Waited for 5 hours without being seen (besides vitals and triage) for my brother who had had a seizure and hit his head. His blood pressure was also high. No one ever communicated a wait time. Most of the patients were there for the flu, therefore I don t understand how a seizure wasn t a higher priority. We finally left as there was no end in sight and went to a different hospital. Very disappointed in our experience. I m not one to write reviews, but I expected more.

The staff our family dealt with, set a whole new standard in hospitality. The courtesy, the sense of urgency shown, the thoughtfulness at every turn... very special, passionate group of people working there! Thank you Childrens Hospital!

Worse hospital ever. Can t get my daughters referral sent to another hospital so she can be treated. Doctor lied about my daughter getting treatment. And admitted it. I asked for the doctor to be removed off her case and she was still treating her when we left!!! I need my daughters records sent to another hospital!

My daughter had surgery recently and I couldn't of ask for a better nursing staff. They were very attentive to very nervous parents and took care of our daughter like she was their own. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication.

I can not describe this place. It was amazing. 23 days and the staff was incredible every step of the way. From housekeeping, nutrition, patient transport, nurses, doctors, surgeons, admission, every single person made our stay less stressful. Shout out to the amazing team on C5B...you all made my daughter's recovery outstanding. My husband and I felt like we had a family there with us. Family asked how we could do it and the best way was "If it wasn't for our daughter being sick. It would have been a 5 star vacation with friends." The food isn't 5 star, but far better than I expected maybe 3 sometimes 4. The personal care was beyond exceptional though. In my book, best hospital in the nation.

We are still here and me and my wife are here with our daughter and some of the nurses I will give them 100% and some I wouldn't and hell this is the children hospital and the children are number one to comforting them we cought a few nurses chatting for a half hour to hour chatting and last night they were supposed to call me and my wife and the didn't

The campus is beautiful, welcoming, and our little one loves checking out all the statues. The nurses are fantastic, and show such compassion.

The urology dept is impossible. Cannot get a call back, cannot get direct answers to direct questions. Scheduling months out. No appt reminders, just "you should have seen it on mychart." (PS, not everyone has used mychart before, myself included. I had no clue how to do more than read and send a message). My level of frustration with this office is overwhelming, and I wished we had chosen Dayton or Toledo instead.

Registration leaves a little much to be desired but after that the care (Which is the important part was excellent) My daughter leg was broken and there was a worry of internal injuries. They double and tripled check things and made sure everything was right. We where upstairs in about 4 hours (Which after a Xray and CT on a busy night was great). The rooms are huge and thought out not only for the patients but family as well. Nurses on the 10th floor where great and Jennifer was incredible. She made sure my daughter was in no pain and was as quiet as possible during check ups.
In morning the patient transport staff was very professional (Mike) He told us exactly where we where going and what was happening next. The staff at the OR prep area was so nice. (Amanda) Dr Ruggles she was great and had every thing fix and even checked up on us before we went home
The after care was just as good and I hope they hire a student named Liz in therapy She was great. Thank you all so very very much. Its nice when even the security guards are nice and smile.

My experience with children's was good in one way. However doctor's manners and attitude were (no words to describe).. Try being asked by the Dr. "What are you here for?" in a nasty way and screamed at told" if you can't afford the trip" on and on.

Very long wait times especially for sick kids. Not very organized. The rooms should be made to be a little more comfortable since the wait times are so long. I wished that there were more Children's hospitals, not pointless Children's Close to Home urgent care facilities in the Columbus area.

4terrible days in my life.I have two children.my second one is now14months.3days before suddenly he cant able to breathe properly and didn t eat well so i went to urgent care the shifted me in ambulance to this hospital ER.In Er every one is good .They diagnosing my kid have pneumonia that leads him to asthma. So they change-my child to ICU.Head nurse name is Chester. He treated my kid not like 14month old.He grabs my kid from me and forced him lie down the bed .My kid is afraid about strangers so he started crying.Suddenly that mans face was changed red and he try to force him. That time one good and kind Dr came his name is Dr Ayad.He tells him dont force the kid leave to her mother he is already ill he needs his mother.then that man give my chid when he came in my hand he stopped his crying .When the Dr leaves they started to gossip him. They told he doesn t know their pain. But actually Chestor don t know my pain. They dont care about our feelings. They need sessions for how to treat kids and parents .Here I want to mention about one good nurse her name is Carly. She is the best I want to thank her.and another one her name is April.she is gossiping and chitchat during her work time and if we ask her any help she won t come

Horrible hospital went to ER for sons arm waited hours to be seen and no one saw us but they charged us because they checked us in? What kind of hospital charges you to wait in a waiting room without being seen. We ended up leaving but they sent the bill to collections! Not from around here came here for a emergency they weren't able to help with the emergency so we left and they still managed to charge us $99. I understand you are a business you need to make money but if we are just coming in and being checked in for a consultation why would you charge us? Nothing was diagnosed nothing was checked nothing was done but good on you to give us a bill. The best part is they never even sent us a bill and sent it straight to collections. Get your finance department together and become more human Children's Hospital Columbus OHIO do the right thing.

First off, let me say that the nutritions are the worst in general. Finally, most of there staff don't give a hoot and holler about the patients morals. They only judge you for how you look. Only a few of their staff care. Point being don't go.

We were transported by ambulance from Adena to Nationwide for admittance. 11 month child testing positive for flu A and pneumonia. After getting his vitals we were sent to the the ER waiting room where we sat for nearly 4 hours. I asked the woman at the information desk why were not taken to a room. She advised that they didn't have any. We waited another hour before complaining to someone else and they claimed they didn't have an admittance form from Adena and we had to start the entire process all over again. This has been the most absurd visit to any hospital. I would never come here again.

I did think a few times before posting my review.

I did think a few times before posting my review.
I have had several issues now. So, I had to leave them a negative reviews
First, my daughter has special needs. A couple years ago she got extremely sick and she spent a long time in the PICU. One doctor, he was a resident doctor back then, advised me to just let my daughter go . He said that she was in pain and she would be better if I did not keep her alive with all those machines doing all the work for her.
She was on a ventilator. Then she required also dialysis.
I did think about what the doctor was telling me. No mother deserves to hear anything so heart breaking from someone who is supposed to be doing anything to save your child s life.
I told him, that she never gave up on me before and that I was not going to give up on her .
Well, everyone according to the comments I heard, was really believing that my daughter was going to die. So everyone was so nice and kind to me because they felt pity. However, a few days passed and my daughter was still alive. With all those machines attached to her little body but she was fighting for her life.
So, I noticed some of the nurses and even the social workers were changing theirs attitude towards me. They were being rude and nasty.
I have another little daughter and back then she was 3 years old . Children aren t allowed to be on the PICU but because they thought my daughter was going to die, they let my little one be there. When everything was getting better, the nurse in charge of the PICU just removed the privilege of my little daughter to be on the PICU without telling me absolutely anything. So I asked her what was going on and all she said was that because of the condioof my other daughter changed and she didn t die like they thought they had to stop the privileges for my little one.
I was so hurt. I was treated like a piece of trash by nurses and social workers only because my daughter didn t die like they thought.
I even had a couple arguments with them because they said the only reason she was still alive was only because of them . I told them that yes I agreed to that, but all the stuff that was going on with my daughter would require more time, that even a cold needs a couple days to get better .
I have learned so much from that horrible experience at this hospital and I don t ever want any parent to go through that.
I feel like being Hispanic didn t help.
Now almost three years later, I went back to do some shadowing/observation for OT.
I went to the OT floor and they put me to observe a couple OTs. One of them Meghan was the sweetest ever. She was so nice and helpful. However, some of them looked at me, like if I were a weird animal.
They were arrogant. They forget that they were students one day and that someone gave them the opportunity to shadow.
I really wanted to give this hospital the benefit of the doubt, and thought that maybe one time happens. But twice is just not right.
Everyone working at this hospital seems arrogant and they think that they are better than anyone else.
What a sad situation, because they have a job only because parents like me take their children to them.
My daughter is not a patient of them anymore. I have found a better hospital and even though it s far away I trust them with my daughter s life.

The Emergency Room Nurse Shift change left familie...

The Emergency Room Nurse Shift change left families stranded in the waiting area waiting for 3 hours!!!. I brought my infant in at 4:30am with a temp of 104.8, we were triaged at 5:30am but then forgotten. When I advocated for my son at 7:30am the 7am shift change nurses had to retake his vitals and basically start over. I was walked to Urgent Care in the same building at 8:am by an ER health aid who explained to me that there were too many trauma patients in front of my son for care. Mind you there were only 6 families in the ER lobby at this time who had come in after my son, so that explanation was not accurate.

Urgent care was wonderful as always, got my son in, checked him, got our meds, and sent us home within in 2 hours! The emergency room visit felt like a waste of time. I would not recommend going here between 4am and 7am because there evening shift change to morning shift change process is a mess!

Great hospital with great staff BUT it is VERY dirty. The PICU floor is our "home" floor and the night after my son's surgery we woke up to bedbug bites and a bedbug on my pillow. Staff worked quickly to get us out of the room with new sheets but this morning I realized they put us in a room that was NOT CLEANED before we entered. The PICU should be held to a higher standard since most children on this floor are medically fragile and VERY sick. Again, the staff is great but cleaning could use some work. I've also heard of other families finding roaches in their room and rummaging through their belongings. Voice for your child and make sure the staff keeps your room and belongings safe and bug free.

Took my child in to get checked because she had so...

Took my child in to get checked because she had some issues breathing during the night. To start off to make sure she was feed they said they were going to put her on the finger foods list and after 7 complaints and 14 hours later we were released and they NEVER brought us any finger foods for out kid. They were supposed to do a nasal examine with the first couple hours and they only did that right before we left because the last doctor made it a requirement before we left. SO if you can't get food right and you cant get your exams right what makes me think you can diagnose right??? Well apparently they cant do that either. We said she looses her breath at night and we are worried about sleep apnea. they kept us over night and only monitored Oxygen levels. Well when oxygen levels got low the machine beeps and wakes everyone up so of course its not going to be like it was at home. Its like they never listened to us at all. we had to tell the story more than 7 times and for what?? to be ignored. If I can avoid it I will not go back. Hopefully you have better luck than I did.

If zero stars was only a possibility, this place is disgusting! The patient rooms are a messy disaster and the nurses are not qualified. The nurse performing our shots, stuck the needle in her arm and started fishing around for her vein. It caused so much pain that even weeks after our visit, her arm is still black and blue with bruises from these shots. Very bad service and super unprofessional staff! We will never be back!

If I could give the outpatient sleep clinic zero stars I would have. Including the RT and RN who were both rude to ME and ultimately had me escorted out of the hospital by security. My only fault was I was trying to tell the RT about my child and difficulty keeping monitors and leads hooked up to him. I finally gave up after being cut off / interrupted several times. I finally just said just go ahead since u don t want to hear anything I have to say about My child. I then requested someone else or her supervisor. She was only RT working with 12 patients which explained her rushed, rude attitude. And when the supervisor came she would not listen to me either regarding the situation. She only came in to tell me that the RT was refusing to perform my son s test and that they would need to reschedule me. (Which they never did). I was then left in the room not sure if I was supposed to leave or what. A security guard brought me some papers but I still was not told what to do or given another appointment. Put call light on and no one came. Twice. Call light was just switched off both times. So I packed up our stuff and went to desk to ask about the appointment reschedule and ask how to get out. I was met by RN and security guard who escorted me out following me all the way out into parking garage and even stood by where u put your ticket in to leave. Very intimidating and treating me like some kind of criminal when I did nothing wrong but try to educate this RT on my child.

Horrible. The worst experience of my life. Rushed by squad for a seizing toddler only to sit with my son in the lobby for 2 hours and them tell us to contact our pediatrician. NO testing. I m a nurse, horrible horrible hospital.

I am new to this area and I just called to find out what services the ER can do for a child with a new onset heart condition. I was told they can t give me info over the phone. I live an hour from this hospital and needed to know what can be done before traveling that far. I finally asked if my child could receive an echo or an ultra sound at that hospital and was told possibly yes then a dial tone as I heard her deliberate HANG UP the phone on me.
If this is my only portion for a children s hospital here in this area I d rather drive back to Memphis and take my kid to Lebohner children s hospital or St. Jude s. This place here is insanely rude and no where a child should be cared for. I m in the medical field and I m disgusted.

All of our Nurses and Pediatricians were awesome! Take each employee with a grain of salt. They are in an busy environment, working as hard as possible, so work stress is there. Be understanding amd patient and you will get the best care they can. My son tested positive for RSV, and instantly we were given every exurtable options to treat him. You can put your full faith in this campus

We had to reschedule my son's appt in Jan for his diabetes . They couldn't reschedule him until August then they were rude when we try to get refills for his insulin and test strips because he hasn't been seen since October. Like it's our fault they couldn't get him in until 7 months later. Now we're having trouble getting him signed up for camp hamwii. Waiting for them to fill out the medical papers I hope they don't keep him from going to camp it's not his fault. I hope you don't have to reschedule your appointments here this has happened to us several times. And then when you try to switch doctors they act like you're crazy and they won't do it.

I can not say enough great things about nationwide children s burn clinic! My 4 year old daughter had an encounter with our pellet stove, a freak accident, she received 2nd degree burns on her arm. Children s was wonderful, let her blow bubbles in the room while she had her arm looked at. Anything she wanted they would do. Children s does not take our insurance and I could care less. I will always go to children s no matter the cost! Can t get any better

Words can t explain this place

Words can t explain this place

I was in a bad car accident a couple of months ago and the doctors were very cooperative and the nurses were very patient and understanding

I know people drag on the hospital food but it was the best that I have ever had

All the decorations and statues and stickers on the wall were so beautiful and cute for the young children

The Ronald McDonald house was very beautiful and it made me feel right at home when I came back for a checkup

HORRIBLE! This team had received blood work for my daughter from my Pediatrician. They had my insurance information, my address and my telephone number, and never contacted me or filed with my insurance. They claim that they sent 4 statements that I never received, and they sent me to collections. I had to call and prompt them to file with my insurance company. The kicker is that they HAD all of the information, I didn't even have to get out my insurance ID card. They just didn't bother to attach it from the lab paperwork onto the file. I have specified that this team is NEVER used again.

Very unprofessional emergency room staff, and Doctors. Was very unhelpful finding anything wrong with my 5 year old child with vomiting due to not having insurance that could be billed. I thought a hospital was supposed to help a child even though there wasn't insurance. This is why there is a billing department do what needs done then if there isnt insurance then bill the parents of the patient. I will be getting a second opinion from another doctor. Big companies don't care about people they only care about what they can bill out.

The staff are absolutely amazing. Nationwide has been the only one to help find a diagnosis while Dayton Children's acts like a chicken with its head cut off. The doctors are extremely educated and well versed. Their RMHC House is amazing too if you need it!

My son recently had surgery at the hospital. While waiting for the doctor, we were asked to take part in a research study during his surgery. This felt like a door to door sales person asking us to buy something. If the hospital or department wants to ask if families will participate in research, this should be asked prior to the day of surgery, not a few hours before when the infant is crying. I couldn't even hear the doctor talk because my baby was so upset.
Next, we go to the pharmacy in the hospital to pick up his prescription. While my husband is paying, a pharmacy tech asks me to scoot over so a mother and daughter can check out. The mother and daughter had been sitting nearby on chairs waiting. Once they get the little girl's prescription, they walk away, and the tech comes back over to me and apologizes for asking me to move and tells me that little girl has Covid so she wanted me further away from her. She told me normally they do curbside pickup but the mother didn't have a car. So they were inside a crowded hospital, sitting on the chairs that I never saw anyone go clean afterwards and the little girl had COVID.
The surgeon was great aside from being late, and the staff in the family waiting room were wonderful, but that was about the only positive experiences we had.

If I could give this place a negative star I would. The staff was nice and courteous but the doctors failed to treat my son even though my pediatrician called ahead and asked them to test him for a specific problem which nearly cost my son his eye sight. Took him to Cincinnati children s and he was diagnosed and treated within the hour! I wouldn t bring my dog to this hospital for help!

I have always spoke highly of NCH. When I do have to come here I try to go to the urgent care. On this day I started off in the urgent care and ended up in the ER. I have 3 other family members at home waiting for me. I am a single parent. I woke up this morning about 6:00 am. I went to work. After work my son needed medical treatment. We arrived at 8:30 pm. In a few hours it will be 6:00 am. Again. I will miss work. I will not be able to sleep in this cold clinical hell where Doctors play God and keep you in this purgatory for as long as they can. Right now my son is not on an IV not being monitored. Just laying in bed. I submit that we could be just as ignored in the comfort of our own home. Hey "Doctor!" what are you doing to the children when you do harm to the parent?
Maybe you are not here for the children...
....just your ego.

At first they were doing great but I m watching people leave and they are not taking people back. There are so many sick infants and toddlers and they are worried about the older kids that are injured first and too busy talking and lingering amongst each other. We have been here for two hours and people that came after us are being out first before our one year old.

Currently waiting in the lobby at Childrens. We have been here for over 6 hours now. They checked my daughters vitals hours ago but yet we still haven't been seen. They said their waiting for more rooms. They need to have a better plan of action for these sick kids. I spent my entire night waiting in the lobby. I do not recommend this hospitals emergency room. I will definitely choose a different place to take my child next time. (I rate this place 0 stars)

The few times that I've had to go here, they are t...

The few times that I've had to go here, they are the nicest & most helpful. I don't think that bills should even be considered as an actual review for the hospital as a whole, as I read on a previous review. Bc this hospital goes so far & beyond just to make sure that your child is taken care of & also make sure that the parents are ok. Yes, if you do need to come into the actual ER or Urgent Care, be prepared bc you must likely will have a long wait. But that's bc they do take their time with each & every child that comes in. It can be tough, especially if your child is really sick & uncomfortable. But if your child is really sick they will get you through quicker if they need faster medical assistance. Just go as prepared for a wait as you can bc it will make your time there a little easier. And also remember that not every single person is the same when it comes to the admin staff, nurses & doctors. There could be a person there that is just not very nice or says something that you don't like. Say something bc this should not reflect on the hospital as a whole. The few times I've been there, I've never had a problem with any of the nurses or doctors. I did notice that not every person working at the registration desk was as friendly as you would expect seeing that this is a children's hospital. BUT again, these are not the actual people who are going to be caring for your children. So I just let that go & say a little prayer for those people, bc some are just not happy. But the rest of the hospital & all the doctors & nurses are all very nice & shaved to my concerns about my child & did everything they could to get them feeling better. Just thank God that we have this kind of great hospital right here in our city.

THIS HOSPITAL SHOULD LOSE ITS FUNDING AND BE SHUT DOWN, WORST HOSPITAL IN THE MIDWEST .
They may do a lot of good but their mental health side is a joke! My daughter has needed help for a long time, took 5 visits last year before she went impatient. She needed help again this year, She told them she needed to stay so she didnt hurt herself or others today and they still didn't take her. They are severely in need of a change. Thumbs down!! They need to be reported.

This hospital has the worst service that I have even seen in my entire life, the staff were not friendly at all we spent 3 hours waiting for a doctor to come see our baby who had a cough! we walked into the hospital at 12:15 am and by 3:00 am only one nurse came in and said "well his longs look good"!!! and walked back out, there was no doctor to come and look at our baby at all, we finally had it so we just left without getting treatment for our child, I do not recommend this hospital and would never ever go there again. I grade this place a big F for very bad service and unprofessional staff.

This is not the kind of place you want to rate or have to write a review. Being here is not a fun time, but if you have to take your kid to a hospital it's the best choice you can make. We experienced nothing but helpful, caring, smiling faces the entirety of our stay. The doctors and nurses and PCAs and EVERYONE was so reassuring and polite and understanding about everything. They go out of their way to make you aware of what's going on at all times and explain everything to you in terms you understand.

I hope we never have to come back here, but if we do, I know we're going to be in great hands.

Woest experience ever!!!!

Woest experience ever!!!!
I had to bring my daughter to the ER thought they are the best.
Registration: long line & only one desk is open while there are 4. They get your information while standing & no chairs for at least the sick kid!!!
Nurse assistance: got called to take initial vitals, no forehead thermometer whole it's really necessary for fast & accurate readings plus easier to work on sick kids. The NA wasn't that pleasant to have the little girl get some comfort to work with.
This process took around 45 minuets. Then we were advised to sit in the waiting area.
Waiting area: wide yes but not well furnished to suit sick kids. Uncomfortable chairs & no toys to get kids attention away from any pain. After almost an hour we've been called for the registration again to give insurance information!!! Again, the desk in an open place without any chairs!!! Then we've been asked to go to waiting again!!! 30 minutes later called to get in for another information by the RN & told to go back to waiting area till we can see a doctor!!!
After 6 hrs sitting in the waiting room we've been finally called to be seen by the doctor. But you can imagine 2yrs sick little girls didn't have her right sleeping time in her bed how would be!!! I can't imagine a children hospital that is understaffed & doesn't qualify to be a hospital for those who are the weakest of all humans!!!
This hospital should be restructured, remodeled, staffed & managed in a better way otherwise it should be shut down!!!!

This is not everything but I believe this is a clue about the place !!!!

I really want to give Nationwide 5 stars but I can't. The neurological department was amazing, thorough, and on time.

On the other side of it, the opthomelegy department is horrible. My sons appointment was at 11am today. We arrived at 1030am and checked in. We didn't get called to a room until 1215. Then went through the initial exam with a tech. After that we waited 45 min for the eye doctor, who performed the same initial exam. Then waited again for 30 min for someone to dialate his eyes. Then was given a pager, told in 25 min it would go off and to come back for the final exam. We waited 45 min, the pagr never went off, then I tool it to the front desk, and they said they would let them know we were back. Then waited another 45 min to be called into a room. The nurse took us back to room 8. Then another 30 min goes by, the same nurse opened the door and was shocked we were still sitting there, she was trying to put another patient in the same room and didn't know the room was still occupied. Then after that, 20 min goes by and the doc comes in, didn't apologize, and now had to wake up my son for the exam. Once she was finished, we got up to leave, headed down the hallway and got stopped by the same doc and another doc, who wanted to do the inner eye exam again....so all in all we were at an eye appointment for about 5 hours. Also, the entire time we were there not one person apologized except that 1 nurse. In conclusion, stay away from the 4th floor at nationwide children's, it was absolutely terrible.

There is no better place to take a child. Caring staff, thorough, kind doctors and nurses. Beautiful building and child friendly atmosphere. As a medic, and having children and grandchildren treated here, I highly recommend it

A friend of mine recently spent a week here and had the below experience. How is this hospital allegedly one of the top rated children's hospitals in the country? I have NEVER had a good experience here with my children. I live in New Albany, but after 1 year dealing with their subpar rheumatology department, I now drive to Cincinnati Children's for my daughter's bone disease specialist and couldn't be happier. But this most recent ER visit with my 4 year old has me in an uproar, and I will be filing a formal complaint against them. We waited in the ER waiting room with her vomiting and diarrhea all over herself for damn near SEVEN HOURS before seeing a doctor, who then admitted her for severe dehydration and kidney complications. Again, she probably could have been seen faster and cared for properly if I had driven her to Cincinnati, but that is water under the bridge compared to our terrible 6 day hospital stay.

Our room was right outside the nurse's desk so I could hear all of their conversations about how much they partied and what they would do when they were blacked out drunk while my door was open. My daughter did not sleep well because she had to potty every 10-20 minutes. Never once did a nurse assist her, that was all me. She was isolated because she tested positive for adenovirus 40/41 which is highly contagious. Her room was never disinfected or cleaned, even though she couldn't make it to the bathroom in time on a few occasions and messed on the floor. The night time male nurse had some phobia of dumping her toilet buckets they used to measure how much was coming out of her, so our room constantly smelled like diarrhea. I asked him to dump them one time and he gave me attitude and said, "I thought 'so and so' was going to do that while she was here, she didnt do it? Ugh..." I'm sorry that my daughter inconveniences you, sir, but she literally goes every 20 minutes. She was in horrible pain and would scream. If she couldn't keep her meds down, she would have to wait 6 more hours to get some kind of relief because they never had an alternative back up for when she did puke. The doctors had horrible communication. The day time doctor told me one day when she was starting to feel better that they were turning off fluids to see if she could produce enough urine overnight to go home. Two hours later (6:30pm) the nurse came in with a bag of fluids and said my daughter didnt meet her goal that day so they were turning fluids back on. That completely blindsided me! The next morning, the same doctor came in and said "I see she did well off of her fluids overnight and took a big drink of orange juice this morning." I asked him what the hell he was talking about because she had been on fluids since 6:30pm (was still on them when he walked in the room!) and only had a tiny sip of orange juice but didnt like it. He was confused and said he had no idea they put her back on fluids. Fast forward to noon, the lead doctor came in and said THE SAME EXACT THING! "I see she is drinking and did well off of her fluids last night." She had spiked a fever over 103 and was miserable, and he looked at her laying there helpless and said, "Wow you look so good right now! You must be feeling better!" What a joke!!!! I told them I wanted her discharged out of there as soon as I could after that. These people are taking care of babies and have no communication or professionalism. What a sad place to expect quality care for your babies. You are just a number and a paycheck to them. I have a dairy of everything we experienced (good and bad... but mostly bad) and I could write a novel about how awful they are.
