My son recently had surgery at the hospital. While waiting for the doctor, we were asked to take part in a research study during his surgery. This felt like a door to door sales person asking us to buy something. If the hospital or department wants to ask if families will participate in research, this should be asked prior to the day of surgery, not a few hours before when the infant is crying. I couldn't even hear the doctor talk because my baby was so upset.
Next, we go to the pharmacy in the hospital to pick up his prescription. While my husband is paying, a pharmacy tech asks me to scoot over so a mother and daughter can check out. The mother and daughter had been sitting nearby on chairs waiting. Once they get the little girl's prescription, they walk away, and the tech comes back over to me and apologizes for asking me to move and tells me that little girl has Covid so she wanted me further away from her. She told me normally they do curbside pickup but the mother didn't have a car. So they were inside a crowded hospital, sitting on the chairs that I never saw anyone go clean afterwards and the little girl had COVID.
The surgeon was great aside from being late, and the staff in the family waiting room were wonderful, but that was about the only positive experiences we had.
