The tomb of Christ exhibit I really liked with the presentation and the stuff they had about it. I thought there was going to be a mock up of the actual tomb inside but there wasn't which was a little disappointing. You were able to take a 've tour though which was pretty cool. The 3d movie we watched was really neat except I almost fell over. The bird picture exhibit was next as well but the rest of the group rushed through which was upsetting since I wanted to look at everything closer.
Wonderful free hallway history of NatGeo. Cool gift store.
The price of admission is $ 15, I find it expensive to just see some photos
Love the Egyptian exhibition on the Queens of Egypt. Very well curated and informative.. Must visit
Visited during the Queens of Egypt exhibit and it was wonderful. Staff was helpful.
Unless you are going with childs no need to go. They shoud tell you that when purchasing the $15 tickets!
The museum is small, but their use of multimedia and virtual reality is outstanding. The whole tour takes about an hour. Parking is a nightmare, best to use the metro Red Line to Farragut North station. Recommended.
We went to see Story District in the theater here. Very nice.
I toured the exhibit of Egyptian queens. There is a fee to get in with situation-specific discounts available. They had a fantastic 3D xzibit, a VR feel for one of the most well-preserved Queen's tomb in the valley of the Queens Egypt. There were a couple of displays directly related to children, and they did have a scavenger hunt like game for children to play, I really feel that this exhibit is better appreciated by an adult. Well worth the time.
Great place for the family with small kids. Exhibits are geared for children 5 to 12 years old. Shark exhibit had some great photos of sharks.
Very nice museum.Great space with amazing programming including virtual reality exhibits.I loved it and want to go back.
Great exhibit on the ground floor. Might as well pop in on your way to the National Mall.
One nice exhibition about women from Egypt and another small about their work. I was expecting something more. If you have little time to explore - definitely forgive this museum.
Nice museum. Definately not as good as the free ones DC offers. We paid $15 and saw 3 exhibits. Still recommend once you are done with the other ones.
Not much to see. However, they have theme exhibit. Greek culture was the theme of the exhibit during my visit.
The free portion of the museum is very small. Neat but small. The paid exhibits rotate. We visited the sharks exhibit which was filled with beautiful photographs of sharks. Cost was $30 for 2 of us and we spent about an hour there.
The Queens of Egypt exhibit had amazing pieces. The 3-D rendering of Queen Nefertari's tomb is a must-see. However, I was a little disappointed by some of the presentations and much of the exhibit lighting. Many of the placards were difficult to read, at times a result of the poor lighting, and at others, a result of the size and type of the fonts used. The poor placement of the lights from above often made it difficult to see the placards without casting your own shadow over what you're trying to read. Other than these minor annoyances, the exhibit really was amazing and well worth it.
Great museum and great exhibits. I loved the African arts.
Really cool place and loved the exhibits. Downside is it is not very big and made it through in under 2 hours and we stopped at everything
The tomb of Christ is a terrifically done interactive tour with a virtual tour near the end. The other exhibits were cool, but it was expensive for such a few exhibits.
Permanent exibition is a let down... We thought that overall it was overpriced.
Queens of Egypt exhibit interesting, but not worth $12 each person. Free exhibit area interesting but was expecting it to be much larger, based on N.G. history
We were let down and disappointed. Expensive and not much at all to see.
Just go to the free section. It's totally not worth paying $15 admission since the free display is actually better than the paid exhibit.
Visited one of the virtual sessions- very good speaker and great interactive goggles. Wished I could purchase or watch the entire film in the end?
Great exhibits and my kids loved it. But rather small for the price.
This was terrific. Just stumbled upon it. Really enjoyed the exhibits.
Truly disappointing and extremely limited. I had high hopes for this museum knowing the quality of the magazines which National Geographic produces and the stunning photography which they are known for, however none of this was evident at my experience at this museum. The exhibits were very small and were sadly disappointing with the exhibits not relevant to the work which national geographic does. It was very much a waste of time and I would highly recommend you not waste your money and instead visit the FREE Smithsonian Museums as they have many more exhibits and are much more interesting.
I was very impressed with the pleasant and peaceful atmosphere I experienced while interviewing for a position.
Great. They had an interactive display of a temple. It is like you there for real.
We we're visiting Washington DC over the 4th of July weekend.although all the Smithsonian museums are free it was so incredibly crowded it was almost impossible to enjoy those museums. It cost my family about $80 to go to the national geographic museum to see the queens of Egypt and the mummies 3D movie but it was totally worth it! The museum is absolutely gorgeous the exhibit was fantastic the movie it was a great the atmosphere was cool and quiet it was not overcrowded. I would definitely attend this museum again when in the Washington DC area and recommend the queens of Egypt exhibit to anyone who is interested in egyptology.I think this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a lot of people that don't travel overseas to see actual mummies and artifacts of Egyptian tombs.
Love the Church of the Holy Sepulcher exhibit. I have seen it three times! And now the Titanic exhibit is stunning. Everything is so well presented.
My first time visiting this museum and I thought it was great. The Jane Goodall exhibit was really well-thought out and organized. Slightly text-heavy but also had a lot of really interesting visual displays, including a replica field tent. I ended up learning a lot more about her life and chimps than I expected. Even reading every label and display, we finished the Goodall exhibit in about an hour a half, so it is a smaller museum. There was a second exhibition on photography featuring women which was also very interesting. It was nice to see so many different, admirable women in various roles and how they got there. Overall, would highly recommend for varied, rotating exhibits and more of a low-key museum experience than the Smithsonians.
This is best museum I've ever been to. I felt like I was in Israel at the actual tomb of Christ. The virtual reality experience was incredible. I didn't want to leave. I will go back soon. You will truly enjoy this event.
We saw the outstanding Ancient Greece exhibit. It made us really want to visit Greek mainland and islands.
Love this place! Great exhibits rotate every few months.
It seems to me that the price is not according to what they offer, very little material
We saw both the Tomb of Christ and The Titanic exhibit. Very interesting and well put together. The 3-D experience at the Tomb of Christ was a nice bonus.
This helped me a lot for my homework/schoolwork/project
It was not worth the price for entrance in my opinion. I love the National Geographic Magazine and expected more.
I came for the photography exhibit, knowing that National Geographic employs some of the worlds best nature photographers. Many of the images were stunning. I was a little disappointed that there weren't more (though there were a lot, I just had expected even more for some reason). The tour of the tomb of Christ is a new exhibit that is uses some augmented reality: a bunch of projectors show the walls of the tomb on actual walls of the room. A door opens at one point. One section has you wear 3D glasses, though I thought this part was pretty clunky since the seams between the walls, especially the bottom, were distractingly obvious. It was definitely a neat idea and it was executed fairly well. To me, it was more inspiring as a pointer toward the kind of augmented reality experiences we may have in the future.
Not much to see. More info available magazine then here.
Great museum. Neat exhibit on Egyptian (Kemet) Queens. Expected more Egypt stuff in gift shop.
When I went, it was written at the door that hijabs and earrings are not allowed, I was taken.
We went for the Titanic Exhibit. It's a good combination of history and movie props.
We went to see THE TOMB OF CHRIST. The exhibit was extraordinary, informative and emotional. I would do it again.
So, so good and no crowds. I highly recommend this gem.
I loved the virtual reality section. Everything was very interesting and informative.
We visited the Queens of Egypt exhibit during a business-trip to DC. Despite the exhibit space they have available their curator has made it a great experience.
The way everything was displayed along with the information was amazing.
There were also part that were hands on/interactive. It wasn t too small nor too big. It was a great walk through history.
Very nice exhibit, especially the shark exhibit. It has a nice interactive area.
The topic was Egypt. Small, well put together, but 15 dollar? Not worth it. The tiny National Geograpic section was sorry to say abit dull.
stumbled into the place by mistake, paid ticket, and all the displays you can see on National Geo.'s instagram webpage. the other half of the gallery shows the contemporary photograph with different themes, very impressive, because it was irrelevant to the museum hosted it.
The tomb of Christ exhibition was amazing. Like being transported to the Sepulchre in Jerusalem. VR was amazing
The tomb of Christ was amazing. Great educational experience.
Lots of money to get in but not a lot to see. A big disappointment.
