Terrific permanent exhibit of the history behind National Geographic! Regardless of the rotating exhibit, this place is well worth 60-90 minutes of your time to appreciate how this organization has brought our big world a little closer to all of us. The courtyard offers a beautiful respite for weary feet!

Featured was a collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts dedicated to the Queens of Egypt. The jewelry, specifically the stunning necklaces that would look beautiful around any modern woman's neck. Even though this museum charges admission, NGS is a worthy recipient. The gift shop had ancient Egyptian jewelry reproductions and I couldn't resist two pair. Take extra time to look at the coffins, the large statues and the cosmetic containers. Some of the paint looks as though it were painted yesterday. The 3-D visual recreation of Nefertiri's tomb was memorable, especially since that's the closest we'll ever get to the real thing.

The lobby is a bit cramped for space. Great presentations on Jerusalem, but without the large crowds. I wish I had seen this before I actually went to Jerusalem. I would have appreciated it more. Guess I will have to go again .

An absolutely lovely museum experience perfect for filling up one's morning or afternoon. Don't forget to visit their other building across the courtyard to see their exhibit on the history of National Geographic.

Oh my goodness. T hi is was a must do on our trip to DC. I was so excited about the Tomb of Christ and my mom was about the Titanic. Both were AMAZING!!! I can't even put into words the surreal experience while taking the journey through the Tomb of Christ. It was so much better than I ever expected and the virtual reality presentation left me in tears. I highly recommend to all! Plus the people that work there are so helpful and kind. Just perfect!

The Tomb of Christ exhibit is a must see. Amazing detail captured in the main portion of the exhibit, and then the virtual reality section at the end lets you actually walk into the tomb. Other cool things to see as well, including a picture exhibition from Nick Nichols.

First time in years. Always enjoyed the NG museum but it has changed. Not really a museum at all. More of a gift shop with a display to purchase tickets. Used to be so unique. Not sure what happened. Will still subscribe, but the museum is now in the category of "I'll pass on it."

Over priced! Very small museum. Only one floor with 3 small exhibits which are geared towards children, although descriptions and facts were not "child-friendly", using adult terms and definitions. My family completed the entire museum in one hour which cost close to $50 for admission. Dont waste your time or money! Highly disappointed!!

Queens of Egypt exhibition. I knew little of the history. It's fascinating. Egypt was a very progressive culture where women were integrated into most roles. They had duties of motherhood and other domestic duties, but held power, we're judges, owned land, etc.

Since I m in love with the magazine since as long as I can remember it was a great experience visiting the museum.. this is their work place as well so you get to see the NetGeo team and a glance in their work life

Fantastic and I was blown away by it. Only $15 entry fee and worth every penny. At the time I was there they had a display on The Queens of Egypt . Fabulous!! Like being in the Cairo Museum itself. Lots of statues, sculptures and artifacts to enjoy and read about. The display is extensive with many mummies and sarcophagi to enjoy. Incredible.
I talked to an employee of NatGeo who turned out to be the video and sound technician for Natgeo films and he introduced me to the director of the Museum.
Friendly warm and personable people. Highlight of my day.

I reviewed the current exhibit which is Tomb of Christ and Titanic. The Tomb of Christ was AMAZING. The museum itself is small but with all the virtual reality technology, the exhibit seems so much bigger. I would definitely recommend coming and seeing this exhibit!

Depending on the exhibit, the NG museum can be excellent to only fair. Considering the cost of entry, it's best to wait and hear reviews of temporary exhibits. Don't visit this museum expecting to learn about the history of the magazine or the organization itself.

It s a comparatively smaller museum but one of the best. When we went, there was a special exhibition on Christ. It was awesome. The 3D experience was mind blowing. It felt as if you are actually in Jerusalem. Highly recommended to visit this museum.

First place to visit on my list and it didn't disappoint! The permanent exhibit and current ones on Sharks and photographer Brian Skerry are just amazing. The cafe serves really nice food for little price and stuff are just so friendly. Would highly recommend.

This is a fairly small museum but the exhibits are well considered and interesting. I would put this on the second tier of DC museums to visit unless you happen to be a tremendous fan of National Geographic. The gift shop is a good place to get your friends and family some nice souvenirs.

The National Geographic should be on everyone's list of places to go in DC! I go every time I'm in town. There is always a free exhibit in the windows surrounding the outside of the building and can be accessed 24 hours a day. There are usually 2 exhibits inside accessible with 1 ticket and a 3D movie which must be purchased separately. The exhibits are always top notch! I saw Day to Night a photo exhibit. IT. WAS. AWESOME! There is also usually a free exhibit in the lobby of the National Geographic working building next door.

We went to the Titanic exhibit during its final week. We were struck with how well done it was. It revealed an exciting history with remarkable documentation. The exhibit was crowded (during the government shutdown) but less than the other Tomb of Christ NGS exhibit. Having visited NGS for other events and exhibits, I'd recommend it for its reliable quality.

I visit the place whenever I am in DC. The virtual reality behind the Tomb exhibition is fantastic - you feel you are there as you are transported through the air, and as you explore the Church on your own. I was amazed, made me want to go there soon.

A lot smaller than all of the other museums that I'd visited and one of the wings was closed. It occurred to me that Nat Geo's contribution is the exploration and research they do along with their photojournalism. They aren't in the artifact collecting business so the museum was a little sparse. I was a little disappointed but happy I went. It is also a place of business and sitting in the courtyard having a coffee sent that home to me.

It was an amazing experience here. They usually host exhibitions on different topics every few months.

When I visited, they had the "Queens of Egypt". The collection of artifacts, the detailed explanations and the 3D recreation of Queen Nefertari's tomb were extremely interesting. They also had a collection of mummies, various perfumes and some Egyptian mythological stories.

I enjoyed most of the museum. But the information is very basic pandering to the moderately educated on earth science. The Indiana Jones exhibit has some great props displayed and some real NatGeo Mag history of real archeologists. Much of it is very basic and the IPad walk through speculative and redundant on what is on the wall in writing.

65% of the stuff in the iPad your was interesting, much of it obvious and annoying with no real insight into what you are looking at beyond what an adult can decipher on their own.

The museum currently only has two exhibits. The tomb of Christ, and the Titanic: An untold story. While the entrance is not free, costing about $15 per adult, $12 if you re a student, I d say it s definitely worth it. The Tomb of Christ is very well done with the virtual/augmented reality, direction and editing of the different explainers. The titanic was a little underwhelming by comparison, but still well worth the experience. In my experience there, the ticket prices were well worth it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I d drop by again if I m ever in the city and they have a different exhibition going on.

It took no more than 15 minutes to run through most of the museum. There were only pictures of sharks and rainforest animals. For $15 absolutely not. For the selection DC has..don't spend your money.

You MUST visit the museum when you are in Washington DC!
So beautiful, full of interactive stories, affordable entrance fees, and there is a shop inside where you can buy souvenirs ^^

You need in average of 1:30 hours to finish the tour inside and taking pictures

We went only to the shop which sells all kinds of stuff related to exploration and the like. Very busy. Good selection.

The problem with geography is that it is so stable. What if Western Maryland was given to West Virginia in exchange for the Delmarva? What about giving Texas back to Mexico? We need more maps without labels.

The exhibit was just fantastic. The entire place is well organized. The only place is that it has an entry fee. If you look up the exhibits online before the date you and find something interesting I would definitely recommend going there for a short day trip.
