Everyone was super helpful in getting my daughter & I set up with a Library card & explaining how everything worked. It was an awesome experience! Plus they have alot for any book lover :)... here's the negs... the kid zone can get a bit outta control in my opinion & it seems like most of the kids are usually unsupervised or possibly that the parents just leave them in the kid zone for the library attendent to watch them. The library is a place to go & study or read or work quietly & kids without supervision tends to get a bit noisy.

This is one of the best libraries in the area. It is easier to get to on a busy Saturday if you have to take Atlantic to get to the Delray one. I went there for the first time today and I m looking forward to going there again. It is a shame that it is closed on Friday and Sunday.

Needed some property brochures from back in the 70's. The archivist there, Susan Swiatosz, found exactly what we needed. She is so great to work with. So nice, so dedicated to her job. By the way, this library really surprised me. It's great!

I love books, and this library is beautiful. They have a large childrens' area with toys and puzzles to keep them occupied. The problem is, it feels as though children aren't allowed in this library! I brought my kids, ages 10 and 4, to the library to get library cards about a week after we moved here. I was excited to be there and so were the kids. The grumpy staff, however, was decidedly not thrilled to have us there. You see, my 4 year old hasn't mastered his inside voice yet. Believe me, my husband and I work on this constantly. He was behaving perfectly well, but he forgets to whisper sometimes. This library prefers to remain as quiet as a tomb, so we were constantly being shushed and glared at by various library staff, even though I reminded my son to whisper and he would comply. We were told in no uncertain terms that they were not going to allow us to go anywhere in the library except the childrens' area. We stayed in the childrens' area for a little while, but I so desperately wanted to look for books for myself. As we left the childrens' area and ventured toward the adult section, there must have been 10 pairs of eyes watching our every move. I couldn't muster the nerve to even attempt it. I decided instead to check out the friends of the library bookstore in the library entrance instead. I quickly found several books to purchase, but not before the woman started lecturing my toddler about being quiet in a library. The thing is, she was speaking twice as loudly as my son! Her voice was actually echoing in the library! And she wouldn't stop! It was mortifyingly embarassing. I ended up putting half the books back that I wanted to buy and still ended up with about 5 books, but I couldn't get out of there fast enough. It's been almost 2 months since thst first visit and I don't have much desire to go back. If I do, it'll have to be without my kids. That makes me very sad. I grew up going to libraries with my parents back when they didn't have the cool childrens' areas. I used to check out mountains of books. I have very fond memories of that and I really want my children to have those same memories and be excited about going to the library. They LOVE bookstores like Barnes and Noble where they're not treated like criminals for being children. Lighten up, city library.

Mike - I appreciate your response. We will try again soon. Thank you.

Edit: Just came for the solar eclipse event that was listed on the library calendar. The event stated that glasses would be provided. What it didn't say is that they passed out tickets for the event prior to the day of and they were out of glasses for the event. How very disappointing.

In my opinion there's always a reason why you can not accomplish a task at this LIBRARY. There was a list of about ten books to read from a book club which I obtained at this LIBRARY only to be told they don't have it in books or audio books. I then asked for audio books by Steve Harvey they didn't have any I asked are they books out ? No we don't have any of them. Then I was told that my LIBRARY CARD was expired and I would have to pay for a new one and given a list of items to prove my address an the list goes on. I asked for a supervisor who's attitude was it's sad you live in Boynton an pay taxes and all but the board members makes the rules. All I wanted was to register my daughter for some tutoring an burrow a audio book. Instead I left there feeling bad about the fact that we still live in a time where we are treated like carp. I visited lantana library Boca Library and never have a problem. I wonder if these board members live in Boynton an if they use this LIBRARY. Thank God for computers you can get ebooks an do your research on line. Maybe we will soon have to cut back like the post office. There's always a positive way to deliver good or bad news. I'll go to another LIBRARY where I'm treated with some kindness and where they have a better variety of books/materials.

I have been coming to this branch for about 3 months now. The times that I have check out movies has been a pleasant experience, however, I recently got a call from the library stating one of the cases I returned did not have the CD inside of it. I am 100% sure I returned the movie with the CD at the kiosk along with all the other 10 movies. (for the record this was 2 weeks ago and I have checked more movies out since I returned this movie) I made sure I checked the cases because I had a scenario when I was checking a movie out the CD was not in the case, they advising me -yes, make sure all movies have the CD inside. There is something really going on at this library with the movies you return! Be aware, and triple check!!

Staff member was rude and acted like I inconvenienced them for asking if it was part of the Palm Beach County Library. When asked about a library card she said wait and I will see if some else can help. Almost 8 minutes later. I was given a form to fill out..really? Never mind I don't need negative attitudes! If you don't like your job leave!!
