We enjoyed our visit to NASA but were very disappointed with the Tram Tour. The Saturn rocket is worth seeing but hard to justify the two hours spent on the tour. The shuttle service needs to be streamlined to reduce the amount of time standing in line and sitting while the waiting for the tour to begin. The audio on our tram was very poor and apart from the Saturn display it's really not worth the effort. They need to get some people moving expertise from Disney. We were not impressed with the price of our "security" photos, $30.00 for a six pack seems a bit steep.
The rest of the attractions were great!!

Starting with a ticket price, not to expensive for such a amazing place and I will say its is one of the best place to take your kids for a trip. I feel, It is so vey inspirational place for kids. This place is huge and you cannot skip anything so be prepared to spend entire day. This place has places to visit for all age group so you will never feel bored. For me the best place was the control room from where the mission to moon was operated.
I was sooner in Florida in the space center and therefore I comparatively compare. Florida definitely wins: more interesting, better exposed. Here I have the impression that the exhibition is made a bit by force. There are many attractions for children and this is undoubtedly a big plus. An interesting thing is the shuttle packed into the plane, but unfortunately this is just a model of the shuttle, although it is quite interesting to reflect the reality. You can see what the cabin or space of the hold looks like. The Center devotes the most attention to how toilets look in space. Missile rocket park. Only two old rockets. The Saturn V rocket disassembled into parts (rocket units) is quite interesting. An attraction is to look at the windshield from ISS control stations and its individual elements. Overall, I recommend it.
The expositions change through the year which is good, the different times that i've gone, they have different expositions and they have presentations and demonstrations of findings they have done through the space history, they provide tours and some movies to show about the history and how is that they have evolved through time
This place was a disappointment. The tickets are expensive, and what you get is bad. You can clearly see that it's mostly for small kids. There's almost no cool things for people actually interested in rocket science. The tram tour was cool, nothing too much. The staff at the store was super friendly though
Flying to the universe, vast and innocent, here you will see the greatness of the universe, the smallness of human beings, and the possibility of creating the future! Amazing place! It is worth to bring children to inspire!
This place is absolutely must visit place for all lovers of SPACE and NASA. The museum has got main entrance hall with 3-4 rooms to be visited, toilets and food court. Plus additional tram tours are available to visit real NASA working buildings and offices. Gifts and presents are available in the main entrance, so no need to worry you can purhase them at the end. Place is massive as well as crowded, so try to arrive before 9:00 in the morning. Must visit place for all tourists
Super Covid safe (I would expect nothing less from a science based place!!). They make sure you know the wear your mask properly, covering both your nose and mouth and say it again once you enter. They also said to come get a NASA person if you spot anyone not wearing the mask properly. Hand sanitizer literally everywhere and it wasn t busy on a Sunday.
When you arrive, you can enter the tram tour virtual line on your phone via the NASA app. They said it was just for Covid, but it s working so well they ll likely continue using the app vs physical line in person. You enter the virtual line and it alerts you when your time is up. They only offer the visit to Rocket Park, but seeing Saturn V was incredible! Even the tram had an extra row open in between parties, and you re required to wear your mask (good!).
The only thing I wish they d change is do an adults only tram tour- the kids got bored somewhat quickly and it felt rushed when they all headed back to the outdoor tram. There are AR plaques, but we didn t really have time to try it out!
Cafeteria is extremely limited to packaged foods- even coffee option is just a Dunkin iced coffee plastic bottle instead of hot coffee. I appreciate they re keeping us safe though- I d suggest bringing your own food if you re a picky eater.
Overall it was a really fun escape! This was the first museum I ve been to since February! Glad there s a way to do it safely.
Security is very rude... African American lady driving white truck in blue uniform could be a little nicer, and a little more educated with where she's working... Ruined a great experience... she was talking down to my wife and I, told us we had to leave when clearly, the hours on Sunday end at 7PM... It wasn't even 5PM yet...
We were there the day before Thanksgiving Day. It was very crowded! If you're from out of town, it may be a good idea to purchase a season pass so that you can see everything in at least two days. And download the app because no printouts of the schedule are handed out.
Pros-
*original space rockets, capsules, etc. *Another part of museum is inside a space shuttle mounted on a 737. *3 tram tours
Cons: no printouts of the day's schedule. When we purchased tickets, we were given a large foldable brochure with a small map surrounded with ads from sponsors; and a brochure advertising membership benefits.
There is an app to download; however, it didn't include all of the movies and videos available for the day. Signs are posted on the walls the times of each movie or video.
We entered the museum a few minutes after it opened. We chose a tram tour, the one with the Saturn rocket. We were informed that it would take an hour. It ended up being three hours because we stayed so long.
It was lunch time when we returned. While in line for lunch, we heard the announcement for the lunch with an astronaut five minutes before it occurred. Because we didn't have a schedule beforehand, we don't know if we would have been able to attend.
After our lunch, there was another announcement that the tram tours were closing at 2 pm, and that there was a one hour wait for a one hour tour.
We looked at the app and it showed that the events for the day were already done.
I went to the information desk to ask why these events were only in the morning and early afternoon? The employee showed us the printout of the schedule, which included events throughout the day, which we could photograph. She thought it strange that the app didn't include the entire movie and presentation schedule. She said she would report it to management.
Even without going on another tram tour, it was impossible to see everything else before closing time at 5:00.
It s really beyond me how y all gon go and let Oppurtunity Rover die like that. Like couldn t even warn him, wow. Imagine being like My battery low and it s getting dark and then get bamboozled and have no idea what s going on via violent storm. 0/10, do not recommend ever. Dae dae af. Hope y all go out of business. NASA isn t even real. Probably never went to moon smh. A big scam.
I am literally at the Space Center right now finishing the tram tour an it has been mostly a negative experience. The tour had a 120 minute wait and it was very poorly organized and run. After paying for tickets and waiting in line for a bit they told us we could skip much of the line if we paid $185 for an annual family pass. We did it and ended up getting on the tram about an hour after arriving. Much of the tour is looking at the outside of government office buildings with signs on them. The actual stops were interesting but the way they were presented made them somewhat unenjoyable to see. The tour guide was young and seemed like he was going through the motions. At one of the stops a grumpy elderly man presenting didn't use a microphone so he had to stop every 45 seconds when any of the 30 kids on the tour started speaking. Half way through, my six-year-old literally said "I hate space." LOL..not exactly what I was hoping to accomplish. This place has a lot of potential and it had some cool things, but was ultimately a let down.
Interesting place and the tram tour of NASA is a must do if your visiting. It's overpriced for what it is though. Recommended but not something I would place high on your Houston to visit list.
I love the Space Center. it is like walking through the history of our US space program with hands on exhibits. It can be very noisy with lots of kids at times but it still has heart-warming experiences that i don't think you can get elsewhere. I would be lying to say i am not still mad the Space Shuttle didn't come to her real home but there is a tribute to her on the grounds.
If you go, go early, like when it opens. We spent almost 2 hours in line waiting for the tram to the Johnson Space center. If you do that 1st, you will have more time to check out all the other exhibits and shows.
Absolutely the Top Agency of the United States about Space.Always Teach me new Knowledge , Skills and ideas about Space and Universe.I Love You NASA and I like to work for NASA and United States too by Greece.
Horrible Waited three hours in two locations in the heat for a ten minute tour Did not get to see the original mission control because we did not know that it filled up first thing in the morning Came from Florida for this
Amazing place to visit. Will come back someday. Took the tram tour, one suggestion.., educate your tour guides! They seemed like a bunch of college kids who didn t seem too interested in answering any questions. Or maybe they couldn t. For example, between most stops people had questions about specific buildings, and nobody seemed to have any answers. Other than that, the facility is great, gift shop had many cool items such as mission patches and the usual items, all were fairly priced. Plenty of parking and cool views of the Independence replica. The 905 craft it sat on was bigger than I expected. The Saturn 5..wow! what a treat. Must visit again.
A must if you go to Houston. It's like being in a movie all the time. You do the tour in a little train, since the place is huge. It also has a nice cafeteria and gift shop.
I am not a historian, I was there (space) and I am here. and some things the world has taught me. wonder if there is a round earth. I think she is half round.
But the Johnson Space Center, Plaza was not much of a good experience for anything scientific the main tour via VIP access allows you to tour not just the Saturn five rocket and rocket park or the offices of the space centre but unique access to the infamous Apollo control room which you'll be able to personally explore the actual control room and all the old vintage technology used from NASA of the 1960-1970's with out just looking through a window, From there you'll be given access to the boiancy pool where modern day astronauts train for up coming missions in the 2nd biggest pool in the world. After tour the astronaut training facility where you'll witness new peices of technology are being produced and tested for future missions
the tour guides are amazing with tones of information that will shock your mind and you'll learn more things about the centre and what it offers education wise
I recommend it to all who enjoy space and the history of what NASA has done
Plenty to do for the kids. Definitely do the tram tours first before the heat of the day sets in. But the tours are not well marked and confusing. The same line that you queue for does several different tours so you don't know which one you're doing until you at front as the tram pulls up and they announce it doing 'xyz'. They can better plan this for sure!!! By the time your back from the 1st tour the line gets super long. all the tours seem to head off to the same vicinity across the road pass the Longhorns where there's the Space Station bldg, Mission Control and Rocket park (inc. the monster Saturn V inside bldg.). Once you've done the tours then its time to cool off in the main bldg where the mock-up shuttle is. However at this time there's so many people already here that you lose the exploration appeal. there are many to do exhibits for the kids. As we went on memorial w/e this was super busy. Parking is plentiful. FYI you do get a $10 off mil. discount.
If you serious about science - do not waste your money on this "Museum" as its completely not worth it. This is just an attraction for the kids with childish exhibits. I would also not recommend to take audio guide as there a tiny amount of information provided. In summary, my family paid for about $80 for frustration, and inside they tried pull more money from us. Trams were closed at 3 PM (we missed it), although museum is closing at 5 PM. Avoid this place and save your time/money if you visit Houston.
Fantastic Experience. I have guests from out of town on a regular basis. When given the choice of what to do on days off, NASA is usually on the top of the list. I go with them always and even STILL, learn something new. It never gets old standing and viewing history, hearing different people's perspectives on the past and future of spaceflight. For me the 2 highlights are the Boeing 747 and Space shuttle display and also the Saturn 5 Rocket. There are a couple different tours. The lines can be STUPIDLY long especially in bad weather so beware of that. Do the tour early to be sure you get to it. There are restaurants inside, but I'd go to the ones outside the complex. Theres a gift shop of two and they are reasonable prices from what I can tell. Haven't tried the motion simulators yet but there is a computer based shuttle landing simulator that's free. It's not as easy as you think. The other cool thing is the moon rock. I think its the only place on earth where you can touch a piece- not sure on that one. There appears to be plenty of things for the kids to do although I've never taken kids there.
The addition of the shuttle and plane is incredible! The lines for the 90 minute tour were really excessive, we were told it was a 2 to 3 hour wait. We chose use the shorter 60 minute tour of the Buoyancy Lab. It was great, but the bus couldn't get the video to show. Other attractions inside were Great!
