They periodically have special days that are full of special events. We were there for homeschool day. We also go there when family visits us from out of state. Pick up the schedule of shows for the day when you first arrive. And head to the tram ride first thing. Later in the day there can be long lines. If you can't do the tram ride you can still go to rocket park after playing at the main space center by driving to security, telling them you want to stop at Rocket Park. The security will wave you into the tiny parking lot and then you can walk the rocket park grounds without doing the tram.
