Most memorable place I visited. A very important landmark
So many amazing art pieces to see and to reflect upon in the louvre. The place is too big though you simply cannot tour it all in one day your legs will hurt. The mona lisa was a wait and a bit small but personally it did not disappoint. There are several cafes for those who want to relax a little. The glass pyramid is also amazing. The lines are long so buy your ticket online and be there early to avoid big crowds.
Good place like diamond fitted in ring (in the palace). My kids enjoy the palace.
The largest and best of all museums in the world! 800 years of history. This one is serious, very, very serious. Do not make the mistake of underestimating it.
I recommend at least 3 days to visit the whole museum (just inside) plan your visit carefully or choose a theme or period (maybe two) for one day. In any case it is a marathon, it means you have to dress sportively.
Truly a beautiful place to visit. I highly recommend you purchase your tickets ahead of time and pay the extra charge to skip the line otherwise it can take you 3.5 hours just to get in when it is busy. Also if you are planning your day, anticipate 3 hours to see all the exhibits and 1.5 hours in line to see the Mona Lisa. Long wait but well worth it.
It s a great museum and in non COVID times I d recommend going but despite having to book a ticket in advance during COVID tickets are completely non exchangeable and non refundable. In my case I booked a month ago and the airline changed my flight to a day later. I contacted them to ask to change and was told there was nothing I could do and my ticket price was wasted. In these uncertain times more flexibility is needed around tickets (almost everywhere else has but this in place but not the Louvre)
Super fantastic place to visit for family (baby with pram, olds w/wheelchair). Spent 3hrs with my family. Just come on time rainy/cold season indoor hangouts or summer!
Huge! Planning needs to be done in advance as it is impossible to see everything in 1 day! In COVID times, tickets need to be booked online. There is a timed entrance but not exit - so earlier times are better. Toilets are not that easy to find in here. Also, some places are just crowded with people - a multi-layered mask is recommended as many people don t respect social distancing in Paris. It s a must visit nevertheless and shorter queues now with many of the non-EU tourists out of bounds.
Such a wonderful museum. So much there besides the Mona Lisa! When you visit allow yourself at least 2 hours. Slowly go around and take it all in. It's breath taking. Staff for the most part don't seem that friendly but they will answer any questions you have so don't be afraid to ask. Please be careful and sensible. Some people will climb on the sculptures please don't do that or let your friends do that. It's a space filled with some of Europe's best art pieces be respectful to the amazing artists.
That was a wonderful experience... That was soooooooo big that I just manage to see a part of Iran Egypt and some of the painting that Leonardo da Vinci draw when he was in France for example Mona Lisa...
I mean... it's the Louvre.
Waiting time was not too long on a Friday after 6pm. Maybe like 20 minutes.
You can enter the Pyramid without a ticket.
On Fridays after 6pm the entry is free for students and youth from Europe younger than 26.
It's mainly statues and big paintings.
Also different exhibitions like Egyptian art etc.
I would plan in like 2-3 hours to spend here.
Some bathrooms were really smelly!
I was happy to see paintings of Soulages here. Probably my favorite part! ^^'
First time when I could check it in 2006 it was a little bit easier to enter in.
Mind-blowing wide spectrum of international art treasures you have no chance to see everything not even spend a whole week with only in it.
Need to focus and make a plane what you want to check. There is an official map with the most important and well-known attractions ( Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo etc) But I have to say I wish I had one free week only for it. Nevermind. I am aging so... :D
One of the famous museums in the world. Amazing architecture and beautiful collection of paintings. Will recommend to take the audio guide for more information. The -1 level is a one big mall for shopping and junk food, which takes out all the authentic of the place.
Enjoy :)
Mesmerizing beauty thanks to a combination of neoclassical architecture and art spanning through the ages. This museum symbolizes the core of Western civilization and should serve as the bedrock going forward.
An absolute amazing place. Lourve does not only offer a place to go back time but also Instagram-worthy. The queue during Covid is faster and you can see the artworks very clearly without getting in long lines. Mona Lisa is a must-see. You should spend at least 1 day here in Lourve.
Wow amazing and no words to describe this master piece building and rare and unique art galleries of French culture and represents Europe art forms. We need to spend at least 3 days to cover entire museum. In this universe you can find Mona Lisa here only. The museum will not open to public on Tuesday's. Must visit place if you are planning to visit paris/France.
The Louvre! Not more to say.
Online Infos are insufficient and misleading.
You can buy tickets there!
Locker are available for jackets and umbrellas!
At least one day for the visit.
All the world history brought under one roof. It is a well organized museum that cover the French and Europe history as well as the rest of the world. Simply it is one of the best world wide!
There is no doubt that it is an absolute must visit for anyone who visits Paris. The place is the most beautiful museum of the whole world and houses a great deal of artworks, paintings and monuments. It is a real gem with lots of very high-end artworks. The quality of all sculptures is way too high as you can easily see and feel it. Mona Lisa is also in this museum. I was simply amazed at each and every part of this museum as it was full of history and has lots of very fine artworks around. It is very well organized and maintained and worth every penny. I would recommend to must visit it if you are going to Paris.
Must see in Paris! I recommend buying online tickets with fixed times to skip the line! ;-)
It s one of my favourite places to visit in Paris. The collection inside the museum and the beauty of the facade is amazing. The exhibitions and the history are mind blowing. Would recommend to visit it more than one day, the museum is enormous and would take few days to see everything. Overall it s worth visiting! Should be on top of your Paris must-do list.
Every-time I m in Paris I visit this museum. It s simply breathtaking. You cannot finish it in a day or a week! The entrance is free for children 16 or less and for students of the European territories ages 26 or less you just need to go directly to the entrance and show your student if or Id otherwise the general entrance is 15 euros.
One of the most iconic museum in the world. It holds the Mona Lisa that was painted by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. Surprisingly the actual portrait painting was quite small and there was a long line to get an up close view. Lots of other great prominent paintings inside and even found a statue of a sphinx from Egypt. Though I m not sure how that has to do with french history. And then there was a fortress with walls from a castle sometime ago. The outside architecture was spectacular too with the pyramid shaped buildings and water fountain. The best thing is going to this museum was free!!
Be aware that Musuem is not fully open when it is "free". It depends on number of agents accepting to work more or not and
In my experience of Saturday Oct 3rd, the 2nd floor with french paintings and most of famous egypt antics was not open. It is a pity. The Musee du Louvre was usually free every first Sunday of new month, meaning 12 days per year. Now, it s every first Saturday evening from 6pm until 9:15pm and you must havz prerserved via internet (a bit silly and unfair for people having not reserved since there was not so much people visiting practically the museum)
One day is not enough to see through.... Best place in the planet
Everyone is crowding and waiting in line for the Mona Lisa. In my opinion, the Louvre has much more interesting works, the same Da Vinci. Personally, I most liked the hall where jewelry and dishes are displayed, it is very richly decorated, all in paintings and gold
Pros:
Amazing collection of artifacts
Well maintained.
Cons:
Very crowded
Not kid friendly
Overall:
Must visit. Once in a lifetime experience.
What is there to say about the largest art museum in the world? It features a massive amount of works of art from different time periods and cultures, with any proper visit undoubtedly taking up a full day.
If anything, it can be argued that, despite its massive area, it suffers from its popularity as the amount of attendees is not for everyone.
Advice: if you're not really looking to visit the whole collection, be sure to visit the 1st Saturday of the month as entrance is free from 18:00 onwards, with the museum being open until 21:45. Be sure to queue well before 18, however, as queues for entering will grow quite a lot, with not everyone being guaranteed an entrance slot. At the time people go in, some of the wings will already be closed but this type of visit will at least allows you to view the popular works like the Venus de Milo, Victory of Samothrace and the Mona Lisa amongst many other works.
Amazing museum with lots to see. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to get lost! Was only focusing on see the top 10, and only found 8 of them. Spent 5 hrs there, but well worth it! Buy your ticket thru the Tigets app so you don't have to stand in the long line.
Biggest museum of the world. Impossible to see everything in a single day. I highly recommend the Egypt exhibition and America/Africa/Oceania exhibition. Were the most fascinating for me.
We downloaded Rick Steves free "Louvre" audio guide and so glad we did, he directed and guided us to the highlights with entertaining commentary. His PARIS guidebook was also invaluable during our visit. I hope to return again to the Louvre because our quick three hours there was totally insufficient to explore properly!
Book in advance
Get ready to walk
Find the amazing rooms in the palace that are better than some of the exhibits
Don't just go for the mona lisa, there are other da Vinci works in there too!
Huge and rich museum,a must see at least once in a lifetime (of course if you're into museums)
So much art. Like, seriously, the amount of art on display here is crazy. I don't think I've ever seen more art under one roof. Do you like art? Because if you do then this place is for you.
One of the biggest art collection in the world. One day isn't enough to visit all. You can find very famous pieces of art.
Glad to have visited such a great museum. A must see in Paris.
The Louvre is considered the world's largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris, France. This central and stunning landmark of the city, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine. It is a must to see and really easy to visiting as the transportation in the city works great and the train/metro/bus stations are only steps away from the museum.
For me, visiting the Louvre Museum was the most memorable. I will definitely return to here. And I will with great admiration look at the paintings, exhibits. You just fall into other eras for a while. and it's awesome!
Great! Much less people during this pandemic period.... Worth visiting now!
And the staff amazing!
Usually my mantra is "early bird gets the worm" but not for The Louvre. My fiance and I had a last entry tour (from 3 - 6 PM) and ended our tour with Mona Lisa. It took us a maximum of 10-15 minutes to get up close. The lines were controlled by the same ropes you'd find at a nightclub. Security ensures people aren't taking more than their share of photos and quickly gets the line moving. I understand I did come early December so perhaps there were less crowds due to off-season as our guide Susan said.
Either way, I'm grateful I got to see Mona Lisa and the other paintings and sculptures. Our guide (Susan with Walks Tours) was so knowledgeable and passionate about the meanings and backstories behind each item we saw. Which by the way... in the 3 hours we were there we didn't even scratch the surface! I'm attaching some photos around the Louvre so you can get an idea besides just Mona Lisa. For example, there was an organized coat check/bag storage area, and a small dining area if you need a little something to keep going....
Great and amazing underground the glass pyramid which focus at the heart this beautiful building near the Seine river at the heart of Paris..! Famous with Mona Lisa painting and incredible artefact from all around the world..! Make sure you get to queue early and prepare to spend the day to discover this magical place. Absolutely worth it. Best time to visit is during the winter season as less crowded.!
Words can not describe this place! Spectacular! The art collection and Napaleon's apartment was simply fascinating. This museum is huge and it can take a whole day to wander around and see everything! But is definitely worth it and it is a must to see in Paris.
If you are an art student it is essential to attend this edifice as attending is a course of art education. You may leave feeling small - Dutch masters like Rembrandt humbled me the most. But then, miraculously, the inspiration hits you. I am amazed that the place rates below 5. Would recommend without reservation. The Louvre made me the artist I am:))
The Louvre. Wouw. What to say. Beautiful from the outside as even impressive from the inside. To see good from outside come early as less busy. The see inside book in advance and not only one day before, do it a few days upfront as quickly fully booked. Rest is just enjoy it all as much as possible.
This is the most beautiful place. If you are a student you should go there. You can be enjoy and learn something.
The place is huge. Thanks to Covid19 there's an attempt to make the visit unidirectional which can be confusing at times. Obvious must-see with lots of works of great quality beyond the Mona Lisa.
The museum is bigger than one day visit. My visit was for free on the European museums night. I searched a lot for the statue of Venus de Milo that was represented by Eva green in "the dreamers". Me and a friend stand in front of the statue to feel the beauty. For Next visit i will not take any camera with me and just give attention to beauty.
It s indeed a beautiful place. Highly recommended to visit this after Eiffel Tower. Again it s beautiful in day as well as in night. The whole area is good. If you are interested then you can buy a ticket and have a look inside the museum. I didn t so I ve no idea about it. But I m sure it would be worth. The queue is quite long though. As soon as you step out of the area of museum you can view a very beautiful view of Paris. Museum is basically left side of Paris ( if I m not wrong, correct if I m ). You can go to right side of Paris by just crossing a beautiful bridge. Although I asked a local book seller according to him he said left side of Paris is more beautiful and there are many places to see on the left side. My suggestion just walk around the place for the while you can see many beautiful things around. Paris has a rice culture. Totally worth.
Beautiful architecture and expositions, a little much for one day ! But if you like religious art and Roman, Greeks and Egyptian art is this the place to be !
We came to Lourve on Tuesday - the closing day. So we can only walk around the square.
One day is not enough to visit the entire museum. It is awesome to walk around there. I would recommend going with a guide as it will give you a very different perspective about the place and art. It is advisable to get your ticket in advance and avoid popular hours.
Absolutely breathtaking! An obvious MUST SEE while in Paris. Security only took about 10-15 minutes around 2pm. The line for Mona Losa took longer than security did. But the lines are worth the wait! The grounds of the Louvre are so well maintained and such a beautiful sight to see!
I highly recommend the Louvre! Besides a vast number of people trying to take pictures of the Mona Lisa at the same time, everything about this museum is marvelous. This is one of those places where you will need the whole day to explore!
Must visit place when in Paris. So much to see. On Wednesday the museum is open until late but cafes close at usual time around 5pm.
It s now possible to purchase tickets at automated counters. Entry is free for children.
Cloakroom is so handy and free.
This is a fantastic museum and the only place I have ever found that will rival London s V&A museum. The site itself is huge. It is made up
Of multiple building that house an array of arts and histories. Many of the pieces are breathtaking in their history and quality. You will probably want to book in advance as it does get very busy being a popular tourist attraction.
Absolutely incredible. Don't try to see everything in one day, it's not possible. To truly appreciate everything at the Louvre, including the architecture and interior design, it would take at least a month. Absolutely worth it visiting multiple times
It s not just a museum, it s an institution. Many words have been said and written about this place, see for yourself to create your own memories.
The world s biggest museum is probably also its best. From a London perspective it s like having the National Gallery, British Museum, V&A and Tate all under one roof, along with a royal palace. Incredible.
(Sorry for accidentally deleting my last review on Louvre Museum, which was more detailed) In general, Louvre Museum is a place that you can smell and feel history in the air. A fact shall not be denied that the appearance of Louvre is beautiful; however, it s especially famous for the enormous (not hyperbole) amount of exhibitions. You can literally find everything that you can imagine of relevant to France, from sculptures to paintings. The only problem is ... Louvre is sooooooooo LARGE! You can easily get lost even with a map. Anyway, it s definitely worth paying a visit, definitely.
Exceptional, huge, wonderful. No words to describe the beauty.
This museum is best i ever visited. It looks more beautiful at night.
Have a list of what you want to see and do your research first. If you looked at each art work for 2 seconds... you'd be there for 2 months. My feet knew we'd been round the louvre.. It took us half an hour of following the exit signs to get out. Glad we did it and totally worth it.. a fabulous experience.
We visited the museum during the Covid crysis so we were in luck to not having a lot of people around us. No waiting time, no crowds anywhere. We had more then 5 minutes to take pictures with Mona Lisa completly alone. I am sure that in normal conditions the waiting will be painfuly long. The museum has a rich collection and it is impossible just to walk through it in less then a day so I would suggest to prepare a plan what you want to see. The audioguide is ok but the maps could be missleading.
Amazing! We spent 3 hours in the Egyptian section yesterday and another two hours on the Greek sections today, plus a quick peep at Mona Lisa. The wheelchair access is very good, baring in mind that it's based on 16th century palace buildings.
Lovely museum that you can spend hours in, just don't spend all your time trying to look at one small painting when there are thousands of other amazing things to look at in the museum. Also the chances of you getting up close to some of those more famous works is pretty slim.
Definitely worth seeing. The best is to have whole day free for it. Take some snacks and water with. There are cafes but the prices are over average.
The Louvre Museum is a must visit if you are in Paris. I didn't quite anticipate how large the museum is!
With plenty to do and see and interactive guides available to help you learn about the beautiful pieces of art on display here.
When I visited I made use of something called a "Paris Pass" which helped me to get cheaper access to museums (in some cases free entry) and to skip the queue I would highly recommend this as the queue to the Louvre on a normal day can be quite long.
There is more in the Louvre than just La Gioconda . This museum is one of the best in the world! Go check out the Sumerian exhibit. It will blow your mind (that is basically the birthplace of modern civilization).
The pyramid structure of Louvre is more beautiful than the interior. Apart from the world famous painting of Monalisa, we have a couple of other Greek artifacts which are the only few things worth seeing. There is a temporary section also which houses a good collection. The spacing between the artifacts is huge and that makes this museum a long walk. Ensure you take the map before starting your visit. The garden in front of the museum is huge and is very pleasant.
You definitely need more than a few hours to see everything that this beautiful museum has to offer.
I would highly recommend using an audio guide as it will help you find the best pieces in the shortest amount of time.
This is a must see if you are in the city of love! The architecture inside is fantastic. The work inside ie statues, decor, paintings etc are incredicble and it doesn't break the bank to get in!
I hope everyone that is reading this is having a really good day. And if you are not, just know that in every new minute that passes you have an opportunity to change that.
What do you think of this beautiful place?
Instagram ===> @retarophotography
Whats not to love? Well maybe my poor feet . Walked from 5 hrs here just to see this place. But it was worth it. So much to see .such a gem! And this time during Covid .its the best time to see this .no line ups or wait .you can probably buy tix at door .no need to do advance tix. Most of the museums are like this right now .
Louvre and the other great places in Paris are mind blowing and as beautiful as you can imagine, rich with history and great pride I am grateful to have seen this place again and again which reliving my knowledge of European history.
The museum is one of the most fantastic I have ever seen. You know going into it that it has more than you can realistically see, and you are still blown away and simply cannot explain how amazing this place is. If you are in Paris you must visit this place It is a must visit place. Absolutely fantastic!
Exceptional and world famous art museum never disappoints! It is too huge to see in one day. With young kids I highly recommend a private tour geared towards children. Our guide took us to a few of the more renowned pieces.
One of my favorite places to learn about us as a culture and a species...art and history in one huge building. I could go back 100 more times and never be board!
Portrait 5 stars.
Explanation 1 star.
Audioguides 0 stars.
Using Nintendo, they could do something extraordinary for one of the most famous museums in the world.
But the Audioguides are terrible: it's hard to understand which painting they're talking about (with Nintendo in 3D, why not put the image of the portrait they're talking about?).
The explanations are very few and very short.
The Louvre museum is just incredible. This is a must if you are in Paris and allow a full day to really appreciate all it has to offer. Food and beverages are available inside. Staff is very helpful. Best to book ticket online.
Barely managed a small part but very good. Definitely get the audio tour. Maybe take your own earphones though. Use the hidden toilets inside the ticket area, and take some drinks in
Very beautiful inside and out. There is SO much to see! BUT the floor where the tombs are was very stinky!
The museum was incredible. I've liked that everything was divided in sections, so you could find easily every single paint or sculpture.
Love this place, however I thought that since the Covid their services would be better but it was the opposite. No audio guides are available, and the ones that were, were French and English. No map and asked if they have an app answer was that it was not functioning But not too crowded in the afternoon.
This is an amazing place that takes multiple days to tour. Plan accordingly. When talking to customer service or other service providers start, "May I speak English." A friend taught me this tactic and it works majic. I lost my eyeglasses in the bathroom. So, if you see them let me know. Thanks
We arrived from the back end and walked through the inner courtyard area to get to the entrance by the pyramid. We had pre-booked tickets so we were told to go to the entrances in one of the side buildings which presumably goes directly into the exhibits. However, as we had a pram, we were led to the main entrance by the pyramid and was able to skip the line.
The interior was quite breathtaking, particularly under the pyramid. We were able to get the self-guided tour from an information desk but they were kinda hard to use. We pre-booked the guides but they also needed a card (Sister used her driver's license) as collateral. They were really useful when they did work, giving lots of information about the exhibits nearby.
We found it really hard to get anywhere with a pram. We were only able to get out of the area when we carried the pram up some stairs. The exhibits were amazing. We started with some history of the museum and ended up in the basement. This led to the Ancient Egyptian display and the Greek and Roman displays. It was a bit easier to navigate around the museum once we were in this area. We just followed the signs to the Mona Lisa and then had a break before having a quick wander and heading out. We didn't spend that much time since we had a late start and didn't have another day for it.
It wasn't too crowded when we went except for the queue to the Mona Lisa and the cafe. This was between Christmas and New Year. It was busy but it wasn't hard to get around even with a pram. It was easier for us to get around carrying the pram up and down the stairs rather than the elevator (which were kinda hard to find and sometimes didn't reach the right floor).
The museum is huge and would require multiple days if you wanted to see everything. I'm not really an art person but I was amazed and appreciated all the artworks that I passed and looked at. I think I would have been able to just browse the Ancient Greek/Roman area for a day. I think it does have something for everyone because of its rich historical displays.
It was a little more difficult to get around due to the covid-19 measures. I was a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the toilets. Other than that, the museum is spectacular!
Extremely large in size. Really, if one wants to examine it, it will take at least 2-3 days. However, for those who do not have so much time I recommend going in the morning around 9:00 to avoid large queues and tourist groups.
Loads of exhibits. Could walk around for hours. And of course you can visit the lady herself Mona Lisa.
This is definitely the best museum in Paris and it's beautiful. If in Paris it's a must to go and visit this museum. Better to buy tickets online.
Amazing art work and from all over the world. A bit of a labyrinth but it added to the overall experience since it's in such a historic building. Would absolutely go again
It's a beautiful place that you'll never have time to cover in one visit. Take some time to get out when you decide to leave, because it's like a labyrinth. Unfortunately, in this pandemics times, although there weren't too many people in the museum and they were wearing masks, no distance was observed. People walk around without caring for getting close to others. For the museum staff, I would suggest some more reminders to visitors that it's dangerous to get so close in crowded place while the virus is out and about.
Visited the Leonardo De (? must be the French spelling) Vinci exhibit. Get your tickets in advance! Timed entrance, wait was not bad, maybe 10 min. tops. Lots to see. When your done, go upstairs and see the Mona Lisa. And then wander, so much too see and appreciate.
While in Paris you really need to stop here just for the views you will be stunned at the beautiful surroundings. Its a short walk or 1 stop on the metro.
Louvre is monumental, both in its size, and its importance to art, history, and culture. It is the greatest collection of human expression on earth. The funny thing is that the most famous work in it, Monalisa, is the least interesting one in my opinion. Check out other Da Vinci's works, the Mesopotamian collection of artifacts, the paintings related to the French revolution, greek sculptures, etc!
Even if you don t like museums this place is great! ONLY downside is the multitude of people and long lines. The outside is pretty day or night and is surrounded by historic buildings from a different period in time. The paintings and sculptures are so many and so priceless. I think an audio commentary is necessary if you are really trying to enjoy the art work.
