Great selection. Fabrics are broken down by type. Batiks in one store, traditional in another, flannels yet another. Several stores all within walking distance from each other. Also a mancave to park your husband!

Disappointed really. When talking with employees on a nonprofessional level or to past employees they tell more horror stories than good. Alot of how they were told they are a family company but they really don't care about family. Someone probably needs to really comb through the HR department without them knowing so they can see them as the employees do.

Missouri Star consists of many storefronts in downtown Hamilton, Missouri. Their merchandise may stick to a particular theme in each store, and some stores are adjoining. One area is a mens lounge where you can sit and hang, and a tv is there. Each store is spacious, plenty of room for customers to shop. With that spacious feel comes a price. There is decor there, but it doesnt have a homey feel that small and medium size shops tend to have.

4.5 years have gone by since my first review, whic...

4.5 years have gone by since my first review, which was pretty negative and I've almost forgot about it but received a message from Google that for 52 readers it was useful. And I realised that the company has changed since that time and I do need to update my impressions.

For the last couple of years I've got fast shipping and careful packaging. Very prompt responses from the Customer service department. The company has developed tremendously from all points of view.

Half a year ago (a bit more. doesn'matter) the guys survived a really challenging transition to the new stock management system (they know how hard it was) and it seems it works now.

I do appreciate that a customer, probably, should not care about internal challenges of the company, but I do admit - there was a huge job dob done and I do like to be the customer.

Hi jenny... love your company have definetly done business with you to my benefit ... you have done a tremendous job marketing an upstart company however, first time I saw you at a quilt show, hershey,pa, i was so disappointed. Biggest problem, beside too many photos of you, ..you do not need to do that.. biggest problem for me was the products at the show were not at all like the products I have ordered and loved it felt like an outlet sale and face time marketing. The pa shows are amazing they bring new and inspiring products and demonstrate the best of the best sorry but I was disappointed

Wonderful small town - everyone was friendly and helpful, food was excellent everywhere we ate - Duste Dee s for breakfast was so good, we went twice! Hamilton Bakery for lunch was delicious! Hank & Tank s for dinner was scrumptious! Even Hy-Klas Foods, the town grocery store, did not disappoint. MSQC, the star of the town, was awesome! 13 shops, all quilting and sewing related, plus the Man s Land hangout zone. We saw the Aurifil World s Largest Spool of Thread & added to it. The Quilt Museum was closed early, so that will have to be another visit. We also enjoyed the non-MSQC shops along the main road, Davis St. My sister wishes there was a shop selling quilting and sewing things already made, as she s not a sewist (hint). We stayed at the Morning Star Inn & loved it.

While the fabric selection is unbeatable, and customer service IN THE STORES is pretty great, online is another story. I've placed many online orders in the past few years, and lately, I'm getting concerned. My orders are taking almost 2 weeks, when I called to inquire (after an email stated my order would be shipping within the next 1 or 2 business days), customer service on the phone was almost beyond rude. Now, my fabric cuts are just shy of a half yard (I ordered half yard cuts), and the other while a generous cut, started out at 18.5 on the bottom and ended up 18 1/4 at the top. I sent an email last week with attachments/pictures showing the miscuts, and have received no communication. How disappointing as I loved to make the trip to Hamilton several times a year with a group of friends. I sent another email this morning, I'm hoping I'm not disappointed.

TWELVE stores of awesomeness!! You will find something you "need" in every store! We happened to be there during the employee quilt show which was fantastic. There is a great little "man" room full of recliners, tv's and a pool table to keep hubby occupied while you shop.

Shipping is so slow! It took me 10 days to get my order. I actually wrote customer service an e-mail to cancel my order when I did not receive a shipping notice for 6 days, but they never responded and didn't cancel my order. I had to order my fabric from another source because I had a project with a deadline. I received my fabric from the other company before my order from Missouri Star Quilt Company ever even shipped. I think it's terrible that I never even received a response back from customer service. Worst company ever. I will never order from here again.

They were open, that is the only positive I can comment on. Real quilters, those who actually want an heirloom when finished, or hand quilters STAY AWAY!!!! It was very hot the day we were there and no place to get a cold drink or lunch. Yes, there are places, but they are so so small that there is not seating for more than a few at a time. The grease in the air at the burger place had us backing out the door. If you are into making things with substandard fabric and already cut so you use their patterns this is the place for you. No room for creativity here. If you want a "cookie cutter quilt" this the place for you. Your quilt will look just like everyone elses. This is the place for you. Drove over two hours and was extremely disappointed and sorry we wasted the gas. The place looks so much different when you look online, very deceiving.

If you order fabric from them make sure you don t need It anytime soon. Order fabric over a week and half ago, called a week after I ordered it, It hadn t even been cut yet! Told them I needed it by Wednesday, they said they d get it cut that day and shipped ASAP. It s now Wednesday and I don t even have shipping information. Use to love this shop but won t be shopping here again.

Wow! MSQC blew me out of the water. The staff is friendly, fun, helpful, accommodating, patient... I could go on and on. The selection is amazing, the prices are great. The quality of the material is excellent. They even have a programme where every purchase earns you money towards your next purchase. The man's land area was so good for my husband. We drove two days to get here and it was more than worth it. I just can't rave strongly enough! Thank you, MSQC for this wonderful experience.

My first ever order from MSQC just arrived. The packing was good, the fabric quality is high, as expected, and the service was speedy. But there was more than that. From my initial inquiry, through a very and prompt pleasant service reply, to the charming text of the shipping receipt, to the delightful, personally signed shipping order in my package, the whole experience was so friendly and enjoyable that it gave me multiple large smiles and left me with a wonderful feeling. I believe I was dealing with caring people who treat their customers as individuals and as significant people.

I've ordered many things over the internet and dealt with many companies. This was my all time best purchase experience. Thank you for being so nice!

Very quick to take your money, not so quick to send the fabric. There are lots of places to buy fabric with much better service. A few of my favorites are Shabby Fabrics, Bear Creek Fabrics, and Connecting Threads. None of these charge your credit card BEFORE shipping your order. I just think Missouri Star has gotten too big to either care or know what's going on. They are really NOT the only or the cheapest place to go.... For those who get their cards charged and no fabric, all you have to do is call your credit card company to get the charges reversed.

It is not illegal, but it is unethical for an online seller to charge your credit card before they ship. HOWEVER, your particular credit card company probably doesn t allow it.

According to the Federal Trade Commission many credit card issuers do not allow merchants to charge your credit card before they ship. If you want to pursue this, you should contact your credit card issuer and ask about its policies for prematurely charging your account. You can then send a complaint letter with specific information about this merchant.

I have in my possession an email from Missouri Quilt Co saying it always does this, and so does everyone else. Baloney!!!

This gets me so excited inside. It s so hard to explain to some people, how exciting it is to piece together a quilt. And then there are people like you who I could listen or talk to about quilting all day long. Thank you for your talent and your wonderful way you show people how to quilt. I order fabric from them and it always arrives very fast. I love watching the videos that Jenny makes. I find them very helpful with great instructions. As a fairly new quilter I have to give most of the credit to Jenny go getting me started. The first thing a made was the tree skirt that's under our tree at Christmas. Thank you all at MSQC!

I have ordered many times from MSQC and have never been sent the wrong items.
They aren't particularly fast in shipping but it's just my opinion that in this day and
age we think everything should be instant. People, please, remember that MSQC
is not Amazon! Have a little patience.

First let me say that I love their shop it is a 5 ...

First let me say that I love their shop it is a 5 Star location but this review is strictly for their quilting service.

I have now sent a total 7 quilts and get more disappointed with each one. When I sent the first one they did a great job & got it back to me in the time expected. The next 2 were sent together, I ordered the backing fabric from them at the time I did the quilting order, after they had the quilts for several weeks I was contacted that they didn't have one of the fabrics I had ordered for the backing so I had to change it, these came back a couple of weeks later then expected. The next one was sent prior to the "back before Christmas" deadline & arrived a few days before Christmas, a couple of weeks after the date I was told I would receive it by. The next quilt I sent had a quilting pattern that needed to be lined up exactly in order to look right, it was a jigsaw puzzle, in some areas it was so off it just looked terrible. They did refund my money for the quilting but they also took away all of my quilters cash, fortunately for me I had already used most of it. The next quilt arrived a week later then expected so that wasn't too bad except that it was supposed to be a Christmas gift, the only reason that ended up not being a problem was that we were hand delivering it in January. Now for the most recent quilt, a baby quilt, the smallest quilt I have sent them, I was told, before I ever shipped it, that it would be 6-8 weeks, that fit in my time frame so no problem, I sent it in. At the end of 8 weeks I sent an email to check on it & was told it would be another 2 weeks, well that stinks but ok. At the end of the two weeks I emailed again to check on it, I was told another 2-3 weeks, NOT ok! I sent them an email complaining about the amount of time it was taking, and that if they were 12 weeks out then that's what they should tell people when they call & ask instead of saying 6-8 weeks. That was over a week ago, I got a shipped notice but no other response to my email. Apparently they have way too much quilting business to care about apologizing for the delay or having told me 6-8 weeks instead of 12 weeks.

Today I have a top ready to be quilted and I am taking it to a shop that is 2 hours from my home to have it quilted.

MSQC has lost my machine quilting business. I guess they are not motivated to get these done in the time frame they give since they have already received all the money up front instead of when it is done like all of the other long armers that I have talked to.

June 9, 2018 Update:
As you can see I did get a response from the company and they did what they said and gave me the quilters cash, which I enjoyed spending. As I stated originally I am a fan of MSQC and will continue to be but it may take awhile for me to be ready to give their machine quilting another try. At the time of my review I was on my way to a quilt shop, 2 hours from my home, to drop off my most recent quilt top. Though they were more expensive MSQC it was worth it to me as I received the quilt back in less then a week and that was a week faster then they estimated it would be done. Now that's what I call service, not so much that it only took a week but that they had it done earlier then expected. Maybe MSQC will be able to get on top of their quilting dept, I hope so, but for now I'm just going to stick with the shop itself.

I LOVE the Youtube tutorial videos! Great content and so professionally done. She does a wonderful job with the step by step instructions that even I can learn to quilt! I have bought many items from the on line store and been happy with everything I've bought. LOVE LOVE LOVE this store and videos!
How smart Jenny is to have created those video's to complement sales! That's a business woman!

Just had a really nice conversation with Summer at MSQC. My husband and I have had a trip to MSQC planned for June (before the COVID 19 pandemic) and was calling to see if the quilt shops would be open then. She suggested that I check the messages on the website as they are not sure at this point when they will reopen. Summer was very nice to talk to and said she hoped we could still visit MSQC. Just a very nice customer service experience!

I placed an order for fabric for the back of a quilt and used the measurements of a pattern on the Missouri Star website. After receiving the fabric it was obvious the yardage was not adequate to construct the back. I called MS and told them and they agreed. I returned the fabric to them and they refunded the cost back to my credit card. A day later I placed a new order for the correct yardage. The charge for that fabric was immediately put onto my credit card; and then I received a call a couple of days later telling me they did not have enough fabric to send me the amount I ordered. I canceled the order but they would not refund the credit card charge until they received the other fabric back in the mail. I disagreed with their business practice. These were 2 separate independent orders. Both times the orders had to be cancelled due to issues at Missouri Star, not on my part. There is no reason for them not to refund the charge for the second order immediately. I am not happy with their handling of this issue and do not feel comfortable purchasing from them in the future.

Don't get me wrong- each of the shops are top notch and very nice staff that work there and Jenny is very pleasant...one star is for some of the staff at the retreat center when you book a retreat...keep your eye out that they dont cancel your booking EVEN if all you do is inquire about something...they cancel your booking for the retreat and its a hell of a time to get it back! Excpecially when its a booked retreat!!!

I choose to do business with Missouri Star Quilt Company

I have to say I have always had great service from Jenny store and always seek her out at Quilt shows.

I placed an order, choosing her business vs others. Based on previous business dealings.

I placed my order and left one cut of fabric off, quickly realizing it and added the missing cut of fabric.

Then I email them, asking them to combine the two orders to save them time and also ask to refund my 5.00 shipping charge.

I followed up today and was told they THEY DO NOT COMBINE ORDERS. AFTER THEY ARE PLACED!

Everyone in this town seems so nice and friendly, so happy to help! I came for the MSQC Academy and really enjoyed my time in town. Lovely quilt stores. They could use some more places to eat, but they're growing.

I purchased a gift card for $100 online on Thursda...

I purchased a gift card for $100 online on Thursday, May 5 for Mother's Day and paid $100 for it. On Friday, May 6, a sale was announced for a $50 gift card to be purchased for $40. I contacted the company on Friday morning to ask if an adjustment could be made or if I could receive an additional $20 gift certificate. MSQ refused saying that they do not issue refunds and would not issue an additional $20. The sales associate repeated that she was sorry, but sounded like she was reading form a script.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I will NEVER give them my business again.

EDIT: Since being contacted by the CEO (see response below), Missouri Star has refunded me in full for the fabric I returned. Alan was very very pleasant to work with and he valued my input as a customer. The selection at MSQ is very broad and beautiful and I am certain that the company will take my experience and move forward with that information to make it better for everyone.

My advice to anyone looking to buy fabric online is once you get the package, keep all the components, flip through it and if it's not to your liking, assemble it exactly as you got it and send it back without any folds in order to exchange or refund it.

Thank you MSQ, and Alan especially, you have restored my faith in your company.

I have used Missouri Star twice now in my quilting and my first experience was nothing special. My second experience, however, was a nightmare. Missouri Star has been one of the worst customer service experiences that I have ever had. I am still somewhat shocked by how a company can be so awful in terms of the quality of their customer service.

I bought a layer cake on the website and the carrier didn't deliver it the first time so I had to wait for a month to receive my package. When I opened the package, the colours of the fabric were nothing like those posted online and, in fact, I thought the cake was utterly unusable and ugly. I looked for a return policy on the website, but couldn't find one so I called the company and was told I would be able to send it back for Quilter's Cash (store credit).

I spent 20% of what I initially paid in order to send the fabric back and a few days later I got a call saying I wouldn't be refunded the full amount because the fabric was sent back without the cardboard backing that it came with so it was not "resellable". This is an utter lie because the fabric had not been cut or used, a new cardboard piece could have been added and no one would have known the difference. This is the last time that I will be buying anything from Missouri Star.

If you like sewing or fabric crafts I would definitely try to find a local independent store to support. You'll be able to feel and see the fabrics you pick out without the headache of dealing with the terrible customer service at Missouri Star. I will be sticking to my favourite local quilting store from now on. Goodbye Missouri Star Quilting Co.

I have been shopping on line with MSQ for over a year now and I am pleased with the excellent service I receive. I love the tutorials , which is how I started quilting in the first place. Jennie is fun and delightful to watch. I would like to see more quilting tutorials in country colors since my home decor is country. This is a GREAT place to shop!!
