Chris and Mike S. made this the easiest transaction I've ever had! Mike helped me as soon as I walked through the door and was ready to listen to every detail of what I was in search of. He walked me around even in the heat and was patient and informative with every option he had for me.

I have been debating whether or not to write this review because my parents taught me that if I do not have anything positive to say, I shouldn't say it. However, to spare the community the frustration I went through, I'm going to have to put that aside. This is a lengthy post but please read before giving your business to Mike Johnson's Toyota.
I recently purchased a 2013 Acura TSX from their Pre-Owned section and the salesman told me the vehicle was a CERTIFIED pre-owned. The following day after the purchase, I noticed an air bulge approx. 1/4 the size of an egg on the front passenger side tire wall and the tire was peeling. Toyota did replace the tire but initially, the repair staff was giving me passive-aggressive, vague comments, such as: "I"ll see what we can do." or "I'll take to management first."
Shortly after this, my wife told me that she has been hearing a strange metal-on-metal clanking sound. My brother-in-law and I jacked up the car and noticed a bolt on the brake caliper was missing. I took the car back and again, instead of apologizing, I get a passive-aggressive "we'll see."
The mechanic at the dealership came and informed me that both the bolts were missing. I looked thoroughly and only saw one missing at the house so I suppose the other bolt could have been so loose, it came off during the drive back to Toyota.
Toyota did replace the two bolts and if that day had not been such a busy personal day for me, I would have liked to have word with the location Manager.
The reason why people come to large dealerships is for peace of mind, Mike Johnson. I would expect poor quality cars from Johnny's Rink-a-Dink Used Cars down the road but to be a major dealership, what is the point of saying your pre-owned vehicles are CERTIFIED if the inspection failed to recognize a dangerous bulging tire and loose bolts in the braking system. If this is what CERTIFIED means at Mike Johnson, I would hate to see an UN-CERTIFIED pre-owned there.
If there were 0 stars, that would be too many. They don't deserve a review. What a waste of time, effort and breath. Go anywhere but here! I would go to the Dodge Dealership in Gastonia before here. That should tell you to turn around and FLOOR IT!!!
Mike Johnson's Toyota has the best team of people working for them. I test drove and purchased a new 2020 Toyota 4 Runner on Saturday, July 25th. My Sales Associate Greg Willis and Finance Manager, Anthony Carter made this the best car buying experience I have ever had. They were very courteous and helpful!!! He has always made sure we get taken care of! Mike Johnson is an excellent dealership our car was purchased there, serviced there and been through the collision center. I bought a used Camry from another dealer and took it to Mike Johnson's for a once-over. They showed me that the car came with the wrong size tires. Cindy worked diligently and got the other dealer's warranty company to pay not only for the right tires but much better tires. I was very pleased.
Everyone I met in the service department (especially Cindy) was friendly and helpful. The service was reasonably fast, the waiting room was great, the drinks and popcorn were nice, and nobody tried to sell me something I didn't need. I had a positive experience all around.

The customer service from Andy Lawhorn and Pat Avery was the worst I have ever had in my life they are crooks and for the life of me will I ever buy from this Toyota again would rather go to any other Toyota in the entire county than to ever give them a dollar more. my boyfriend got a car from here and don't get me wrong it's a good car, but honestly, can't afford the payments anymore. I've talked him into going to a buy here - pay here place and he's finally agreed, the only problem is that the Toyota place won't let him return his car. They won't lower his payments or anything. We have spent a large amount of our time at this dealership and it always takes them about 3 hours to tell him they can't do anything. basically saying he's stuck with a car he doesn't even want anymore.

I took my Toyota to Mike Johnson's for a routine maintenance and inspection. I was told my car would not pass inspection due to a variety of major issues including a broken top motor mount and a long list of repairs totaling around $3,000. Fortunately, I realized that most of the things on their "diagnostic list" were not even considered for an annual state inspection. I went straight from Mike Johnson's to a mechanic a friend recommended and asked him to look at my car and tell me everything it needed to be in good working condition. Nothing on Mike Johnson's list was necessary for my car to pass inspection.The only things my car actually needed from the long list of "problems" Mike Johnson identified were spark plugs and rear brake pads. There was no broken top motor mount or broken transmission gasket or return hose, etc. Interestingly, I was given no documentation from Mike Johnson regarding my inspection being denied, and the long list of recommended repairs with the accompanying estimate were missing from the paperwork I received when I checked out. This is not the first time they're tried to hoodwink me into having unnecessary work done on my car. One time they told me during a routine maintenance that my transmission was leaking and the next time I took it in they said it was fine. I've had my Toyota ten years, and, believe me, I learned early on that I always had to take my car to another mechanic and see if it actually needed the work Mike Johnson recommended. I think I'm going to call Toyota and let them know how Mike Johnson does business. I think they deserve to know their reputation is being put in jeopardy. Certainly, trusting customers need to be alerted.

Customer service was friendly and helpful, Waiting room was very clean and comfortable. Wait time was reasonable. All questions were answered to my liking. Future expenses for car expenses were discussed and we were not pressured to have work done immediately. It was told repairs did need to be done within a reasonable time. Overall we were very pleased with our customer service Rep.

I bought a 2012 Toyota Camry in February 2012 at Mike Johnson. My sales person was Frank Lenoir and I would recommend doing business with him! He was AWESOME! He is honest, great personality, and very helpful. He didn't pressure me at all. I am single and I HATE buying cars! Every other dealership I had been to either ignored me, asked if my "husband" was with me or tried to give me information that just wasn't accurate. I did my research and had the help of a friend/coworker in regards to price. Once you get to that point, the Sales Manager takes over - he was nice and we worked together to come to an agreement on price. I already had loan approval from my credit union and had no intentions of financing through the dealership. That is the BEST advice I can give anyone because once I was turned over to "the finance guy" my opinion of Mike Johnson Toyota quickly changed. DO NOT finance at the dealership! The guy was demeaning and treated me like I was stupid! I came in with approved financing and honestly had to beg him to take the check the next day! He continued to try to sell me the extended warranty and to finance the car. The sales experience there was great. Do your homework, know what you want to pay for the vehicle, negotiate and obtain financing (if needed) elsewhere!

Recently I purchased a 2013 Prius from Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota. I am absolutely thrilled with my new Prius. I credit this to the folks at this dealership because not only were they friendly and knowledgeable, but the service was great. They did not have the color Prius I wanted on the lot, so they ordered it from another location. I have been to dealerships where I felt pressured to buy, but not here. I really felt they wanted me to have the exact car I wanted. The salesman took time to show me all the features of my new car. This is the second new vehicle I have purchased from Mike Johnson's. I got a great deal on my first new car and an even better deal on my second. Needless to say, I will be buying my next new car here.

I purchased a new remote for my vans tv, and it didn't work. I tried replacing the batteries, and still, nothing, not even the lights on the remote wouldn't work. Called the dealership and was told it was a problem with my tv, and electronics were not returnable even if defective.
My most recent experiences here have been with the servicing department. I would highly recommend Stacy as a first choice to everyone out of all the Service Advisors. There's another blonde headed lady there who is very good too, but Stacy is a one of a kind person. He always has a great chipper personality and he doesn't ever make you feel like you have no clue of what you're talking about. There have been times where I heard something and was concerned that I needed work done on my car, and I've brought it there to Stacy to explain what is going on. He'd let the Service Technicians check it out, and even if they couldn't find anything wrong with it he would still bring me my keys with a smile on his face and tell me "you're good to go!". Some of the others would've made me feel like I was crazy since the technician didn't find anything, but not Stacy. If you're going to have your car serviced, I'd invite you to have it done through Stacy. See for yourself how good he'll treat you.
I drove down from Maryland to have my Lexus repaired. The cost, workmanship and professionalism made it worth the 6+ hour drive. Syd and the staff at the Express center made me feel like i was family and a long time customer. I recommend this dealer to anyone that appreciates not being ripped off with overcharges and unnecessary repairs. This is my new mechanic!!!

Cody was a big help a few weeks back at the Mike Johnson Service Center. I took our Kia in for service and tire rotation. The mechanic noticed a nail in the tire. They could get a replacement tire the next morning but that would have put me in a big bind. So they found tires nearby to get me going the same day. As a former mechanic, I appreciate this type of service. Would recommend them to service your vehicle, no matter the make or model.
A lot of dealerships have the stigma of being dishonest, but I have to say, from my experience, this dealership is not like most. I unknowingly was accidentally overcharged for a copy of my car key. The next day, Scott Wheatley the Service Manager,called me to inform me I was overcharged and wanted to refund the balance back to me. He went above and beyond my expectations. He is one of a kind and I am very appreciative of his honesty and professionalism.

What was supposed to be a normal vehicle service this morning, turned into something unbelievable.
I arrived early and was greeted by Austin, my service advisor. He did a walk around inspection of my car and noticed my NC Highway Patrol decal on my back windshield and asked if I had family in the NCHP which I responded that my S/O was... so I go sit in the waiting area while they service my car and he comes in and tells me my car needs an alignment and my tires need to be balanced... which I give him the okay to fix.. an hour later he comes back into the waiting area to tell me that my service has been taken care of and that they appreciate everything law enforcement does and are praying for them in these tough times..
It s truly a blessing knowing there s still amazing people out there. It s honestly the small things in life that mean the most! Not to mention everyone at Mike Johnson s Hickory Toyota have always had outstanding customer service. I highly recommend them for your car buying/ service needs!! Ask for Austin Gouge!

My 2012 Toyota Yaris time was up and I had been dreaming of a RAV4 AWD for years. As a young woman I was determined to trade the Yaris on my own.
From the start, salesman Saul Rivas was very respectful, informative, communicative and truly cared that I found exactly what I was looking for and in my budget. He worked with me very calmly on numbers and did not try to pressure me into a sale. Not once did he treat me condescendingly-instead relationally made a sale. Because that s the right way to sale a product. I recommend him- highly qualified. The General Manager Andy Lawhon is also great; his professional positive energy is what unites the place. Andy made sure I was experiencing excellent customer service. Gus, the finance officer who took care of my sale, is a pro.
