There was hardly any wait time between the time I told the salesman which car I was interested in to the time I was in a car test driving. I felt valued as a person and was recognized from the start as a potential buyer. Throughout the entire purchase process I felt all my questions and concerns were addressed and that I was treated with respect. I always choose Toyota as the vehicle I drive and now I feel like a family member of Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota due to the fact that the service department is as helpful and dependable as the sales department.

My last visit to Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota was to have the engine software updated and to have an annual safety/emissions inspection. As with every visit I have had in the past for my 2010 Prius the service staff was at the top of their game. Everything that needed to be done was completed and fully documented in about an hour. I trust the Johnson Toyota staff to do what is needed and right. I have never been disappointed. The Toyota brand is the best car I have owned and Johnson Toyota is the best dealership I have ever bought from. Good people, good product, good service; you can't ask for more.
I have never had a dealership experience as good as this one was . Tony the service guy that took care of my truck (recall claim / service work ) was as professional as they come . They kept me updated on how my truck was coming and went above and beyond. I will definitely go back . They gained a customer for life. I had previously went to Toyota of Gastonia and had a awful experience and will never go back there. It is a little farther for me to drive to Mike Johnson but well worth it .
We just purchased a new 2020 RAV4. Tatum and Justin were AMAZING!!!!
They made the experience about us and was even happy to show us several cars (even after we thought we had one picked out).
Due to me recovering from a wreck, we started the process online. If it wasn t for Tatum s quick responses and friendliness, we might have went somewhere else to purchase. Even at the dealership, Justin had someone take me around on the golf cart so I could be apart of the process. Tatum was so great even after the sell by reaching out to make sure everything was perfect!

Be aware of what you get into. Sold me a car and told me to come back in 10 months and I could get a truck with no problem and even have lower payments. 10 months later and they will not honor that. Very dishonest and going to let owner know. Be Aware people this is a place that gives car dealers their bad reputation. Just thought I would add on to this after some research. Seems they tell you that you will earn loyalty cash toward your next purchase but what they don't tell you is that this is for service work. You have to go and see that you can get up to $2999.00 back to you for having service done at Toyota. All I can say is if you talk to Sean Van Horn be careful con artist. Don't appreciate being lied too and don't want anyone else to get screwed. Guess this is what you might call lawyer consultation time. Just be aware people.

The Manager was the bomb... Nice , congenital and so helpful. Wasn't.my car it was Eda McGalliards, car and I was impressed. Break room was clean and so was bathroom. I just came to drive other car. Really nice Guy. I'd ask for him.if inhad a Toyota. And shell go back to him again.
I have purchased 2 cars from Mike Johnson Toyota and they have taken very good care of me and my vehicles.All of my warranty work and oil changes have been performed here. A couple of recalls that were completed immediately. When I purchased, I didn't get the best deal but I felt like it was a fair deal. I always try to establish a business relationship, so I get to know the sales and service staff. Zach Queen is a great guy to deal with in the sales area, he has always treated me with fairness, respect and kindness.
If I could give them a zero, I would. My family tried to buy a car from here recently. When we went to the dealership, looking for a specific car, they told us they would be able to get it to us in two weeks. The next day they called and said that there was another offer on the car and that we couldn't have it. THEY LIED TO US. They didn't say that we could have it unless there was anther offer or anything like that. They told us that the car was ours. Terrible service. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMEND THIS BUSINESS.

What an absolutely horrible experience, was told we couldn't finance because we had no credit score amd to bad of another. We were told we should go to a buy here pay here. We left and went to a leading competitor not a mile away and got approved several different ways and drove off with a new car. I would highly recommend you STAY AWAY FROM MIKE JOHNSON TOYOTA

I was out the door by 7:45 which was truly impressive. They are a wonderful team and a great local business to give support to.
Took a 2013 Tundra in for a transmission/4x4 service. I had to reschedule once because of changing work obligations. I worked with an associate named Cindy in service. She was noticeably busy, still made time to be polite and informative. I did not feel rushed or pushed to pay for any other services. I would also rank her communication skills as exceptionally good. Service was done faster than estimated. It is a work truck with 183k hard miles on it. (Construction sites, ROW, state to state travel) The transmission downshift and reaction time from peddle to tire, was getting a little sloppy. First thing I noticed at pickup was the throttle response was restored. Truck drives like its new again. I would highly recommend having this service and any other done by Mike Johnson's Toyota. Anyone who can handle the large volume they do. While still maintaining the professionalism, communication, and quaility is 5 star in my book.

Took my Lexus in for just an oil change. I was not aware that the inside of my tires were worn almost bald. Had Brandon, my Service Advisor, not been thorough with inspection then it would have been overlooked, and could have cause an accident. He always goes above and beyond. I have worked in an automotive service department. I know what good service is. I come to Mike Johnsons Toyota because of the great customer service given. Management and crew at the Express Service center of Mike Johnson Hickory Toyota really do a first rate, top notch job servicing vehicles to Toyota (and in my case, Lexus) factory standards. After doing a 4-point inspection on a pre-owned vehicle I purchased: They did an electronic fuel injection (EFI) service, an oil induction service, brake fluid flush, air filter change, as well as an oil and filter change. Upon completion of these services, I realized an extremely noticeable difference in engine performance, fuel efficiency and overall drive ability. With that said, I give these guys a 5 star rating and highly recommend anyone to visit.
This is a good dealership and I would recommend it to others. However, I took my car in for oil change service and had to wait an hour and a half. I did make an appointment. If I hadn't made the appointment I could understand being worked in. That's the reason I gave them 3 stars.

My FJ Cruiser had over 200,000 miles with little maintenance. However the folks at Mike Johnson's service department pointed out to me several much needed preventative maintenance issues. They were done quickly, efficiently, and a thorough explanation of why. I expect the car to last me another 200,000 due to Mike's work. I will use him for any other issues that come up.

I had a great experience at Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota. I went in for a routine oil change and was in and out in less than an hour. If you want good quality service go see Randy Quinn up at the Express center; he is always honest and will not pressure into buying service that you don't need.
After days of visiting dealerships I finally ended up here. I wish I had come here first! They are first class all the way and treated us so well. The first car they showed me was everything I was looking for and I was in and out with my new car. I worked with a salesman Jeff who I felt was very authentic and knowledgable. If you want a great experience come here and ask for him. I love this place!! I would never go anywhere else!
Had a great experience here like always. Very friendly staff and has a great waiting area. The cafe is a tad expensive but the food is outstanding. The wait sometimes is a little long but with a dealership that handles a lot of volume it is understandable. Will return for all my vehicle service needs, thank you Mike Johnson for such a great experience.
They were very accommodating when I went to look at a Toyota Camry I saw listed on Cars.com. I ultimately decided not to buy one of their Camry's but it was nevertheless a good experience. I will definitely be back in the near future as I'll be looking for a car for my daughter.

Do not give this dealership a down payment. They took my down payment, verified my loan from bank before noon, and agreed to meet the following morning. After taking off work, credit hit for my loan, they call and say they sold it to someone else (yes, they called the following morning, while I was on my way to get the vehicle). Upper management knew someone that wanted a vehicle. Oddly enough, the vehicle was still at the dealership, still showing availabe on website and was being held for someone they knew. The sales manager and manager of dealership didn t offer anything else only said I wasn t getting it. I m waiting on refund and going back to bank to cancel loan. Unethical is the nicest description I can give. Obviously the owner makes enough that customer service doesn t matter as reviews on other sites for this dealership are not good. Thank you for your response. There was no confusion. If someone else would have been buying it at the same time, your GSM should have called during that time, immediately refunded my deposit not the next morning. Most of the time, the vehicle wouldn t still be at the dealership if it had been sold. Did you verify what your being told by all involved? I have requested something with a time stamp showing the vehicle was taken out of inventory (not anyone s personal information) and have not received. I spoke with your GSM (before this post), he offered nothing to make it right and he was the one who said you re not getting this vehicle . Look at yelp reviews, it s not his first time your GSM has been unprofessional. Which leads me to believe he may be family or this Toyota dealership doesn t have the same standards of those that I have dealt with since 1995.
HORRIBLE SERVICE. I WENT IN TO GET MY OIL CHANGE AND THE GUY TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT AN HOUR. IT TOOK THEM TWO AND HALF HOURS. THEY KEPT TELLING ME SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND I KEPT REFUSING OTHER SERVICES. ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY!!!!!
I am upset with the service dept. I've been taking my Tacoma there for several years. The service manager argued with me about putting synthetic oil in my truck. He told me that it wasn't necessary and that the normal Toyota oil is what he recommended. When I said Id prefer a better quality synthetic he became agitated and asked, "WHY?! We have trucks coming in here with hundreds of thousand of miles that haven't had synthetic oil." I took my truck to a local Toyota mechanic who told me Mike Johnson only want their customers to use the Toyota oil because you can drive less miles between oil changes and therefore you pay more to come back and get your oiled changed. My new mechanic also told me that my bearing were dry and that Hickory Toyota has failed to do the simple take of greasing them. My new mechanic suggested I use a full synthetic in my truck just as I assumed would be best. I went to mike johnson because I thought they were a reliable and trustworthy service dept. I will NEVER GO BACK to these guys!
Had appointment for 9:00am for a recall and service. Being told different things about a rental car I didn't even ask for after being bounced around between a service advisor and a service manager. Very unorganized and difficult to deal with this morning. The service advisor kept trying to pass me to the assistant service manager instead of taking care of me.
After being contacted by the actual service manager and another manager my issues of dealing with service have been resolved. Kudos to Scott and Dennis for taking care of it quickly for me. I am once again a satisfied costomer.

Ashley Brown was amazing ! I had a third party install tires on my vehicle and unfortunately they damaged a stud on my wheel. The third party offered to pay for the repair, but wanted me to pay for it upfront of which I was unable to do. Ashley coordinated with the third party in having the driver take me to their shop, present the invoice and get payment for the repair done at Mike Johnson Toyota. Both she and the driver were awesome in making me feel comfortable with a seamless coordination of awesome customer service. Thanks so much !!!

Stephen Marsh was the person I bought my new Rav 4 from. He was very nice and helpful. He made car buying stress free. And Christopher S. Was the financing and he was very nice and helpful and between both of them I was in and out fast from the time I drove on the lot and I left I was only there 3 hours that was including test driving and all the paperwork. Both of them was great and I recommend them to anyone looking to buy a new vehicle.

I've always received good service and friendly associates. Today I witnessed Mike Johnson employees helping a gentleman who became ill and close to fainting. Employees made him comfortable and even monitored his vitals/blood pressure until Fire and EMS could arrive.
I went to apply for a loan , i couldnt get it but they kept trying and trying , run my credit 8 times i dont think its fair to hurt the customers credit like that checking their credit after the first attempt failed.
They'll lie to get you in the door. Don't trust what they say, and expect them to go back on whatever they put in writing.
They will give you fake quotes in writing, and then claim someone made a mistake and they can't actually give you that price. And they might not even have the car they are offering to sell you in their possession.
EDIT: After calling Andy Lawhon, as suggested by the owner's reply, it is clear this is exactly how they do business.
We were once again offered a different car and a different price than what was originally quoted to get us in the door, and the salesman's (even though he's a GM, he was just a salesman) insistence that everything is perfect because he's offering us the same discount (which doesn't match the original advertised price) on a different car really doesn't matter.
If you're going here, just expect the bait-and-switch.
I purchased a used vehicle on a Wed. It was to be ready on Friday at 7 pm. When I arrived the salesman told me it should not be to much longer. As we were sitting there the "detail guy" called and said he was on the side of the road out of gas. I finally got in my car at 8:20 the car was still dirty the detail job was a joke. I have purchased 5 vehicles from Mike Johnson so I feel like I have been a loyal customer and this how they treat you. I will never purchase another vehicle.
My wife and I bought a used car in October. We were told by the Sales Associate and the Finance Associate that the car came with a 3 month/3,000 mile warranty from Mike Johnson. The salesman told me verbatim , If you here a sound, a button doesn t work, ANYTHING, just bring it up here and we ll fix it. They provided me with a CarFax, anti-lemon paperwork, etc. We drive the car around town then home and the engine light comes on (maybe drove the car 50 miles in total). Also the sunroof on the first time opening it makes a loud pop and will not stop in any direction (it just runs back and forth). So I take the car in to get it looked at. They have the car for about a week and all is good. Paid no money, they gave me a loaner car for my troubles. I m thinking GREAT! Fast forward to today, my outlook has changed. An interior door handle mechanism broke. I get that it might not be covered, but the A/C also does not blow cold air. I was told by someone on the phone that there is nothing they can do unless I pay for the parts and labor. What good is a warranty? I guess all they care about is the sale, then after that they will give you the runaround, at least that s what I seem to be getting now. BEWARE.
At first wasn t too happy with customer service as I waited 5 minutes at service center that is attached to the sales building without being acknowledged only to be told that I needed to go up to the service center on the hill; however, my experience at the service center up the hill I was treated with exceptional service by Cody Kelsoe. Cody was really kind and honest and more than willing to talk to me about my car and maintenance. I did not feel like I was trying to be upsold on any services and left a satisfied customer.
