Super place selling Super Automobiles! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Needless to say we bought another Avalon! The one we had was totaled in a head-on collision, but my wife didn't get seriously injured thanks to a well built vehicle! We will be coming back to them in the future.

We took my mom's car to service about 2-3 weeks ago because her battery light kept coming on and off. We told them that it was the alternator not working properly and that it needed to be changed. For granted the battery was only 1 year old. It shouldn't have gone out that soon.
After we dropped off the car, we get a call saying it was just the battery that had died.
Okay! So we went ahead and replaced the battery and other minor maintenance that needed to be done causing us $800.
Just 2 days ago, my mom's car died on the road because the alternator had finally gave out. We didn't take it back because we was not gonna spend another $800 again on something that we told them was the cause from the beginning.
We ended up changing the alternator ourselves.
After we changed the alternator, the battery voltage read correctly, and the light disappeared. I don't think they will be receiving my mom' service again.
This place used to be great 4-5 years ago. Now they just don't care anymore. All they care for is making money.
Depends on the employee speak to, overall however the experiences are positive. The atmosphere is as you would expect from a dealership but some of the employees actually care about your business.

After taking of work early and drove an hour and a half to look at one of there cars i was told the car was not there it was loaned out even though they knew I was on may way to see it. A day later after several request of why the car was traded in . And wanting a car fax was told the car had been in an accident. They should have told me that when I was at there dealership . BUYER BEWARE !!!!!
Great staff..but the customer service needs a redo.. Well the service dept. I wasn't greeted and didn't get all the details of what they done to my car. The second time I had it serviced I did .get greeted ..and was told everything. So its hit or miss. And with a little business like that ..it can't be hit or miss.
There are no words to describe my experience... Eddie Pressley was EXCEPTIONAL! He worked with me from the minute we first spoke on the phone - he did not meet me until about a month later when my new 4Runner arrived. He took my call & returned my messages - answering all of my questions before, during & AFTER I bought my vehicle. Returning for all future vehicles!
Side note - Eddie is a down-to-earth, easy-to-work with guy - he works for every customer like they are family!
I grew up/lived in the Morganton, NC area. The general consensus has been you have to travel to Charlotte to get a descent deal. I shopped 4 Toyota dealers total, from Boone to South Carolina. My first contact was with the internet manager Chris Impson. I was initially shopping for a different brand of truck and settled on Toyota because of this dealership. Chris took the time to facetime me and show me the features of the Tundra. I have never had a car dealership to this point take the time to show their product and propose the deal they could offer to this extent. This was a simple phone call I placed to internet sells and I could tell Chris's intent was to sell me a Toyota. As everyone knows the salesman you deal with may be off work when additional contact are made at the dealership (nature of the beast). The second thing that I was impressed with: Chris handed my information off to Josh Carpenter and nothing had to be repeated. They obviously took the time to communicate and work as a team, and not concern themselves with who made the sell but to ultimately get the sell. Long story short we worked a deal on a 2016. The 2016 Tundras were all sold in the South East with the options I wanted. I was bummed, the price was right, but no 2016 trucks to buy. I emailed Andy Lawhon and expressed my interest in a similar deal on the 2017 models. Andy emailed me back immediately and had a salesman call me. They instantly went to work on a price point we both could live with on an available 2017. The truck was found, the price was right.... I am driving a Toyota
My overall impression of this dealership is that everyone that I dealt with had one goal: To sell vehicles. Non of the cliche car dealership stuff, just professionals that treated me the way they would want to be treated while buying a car. No selfishness, with salesman trying to steal deals from other salesmen, that I have seen at other dealerships. My best car buying experience to date, and I thought it would be unfair to be treated so well and not write a review. Best of all I was able to buy in Hickory and drove 12 mins not over an hour.

I drive a 2013 Prius and the tire light came on. I was out of town so I went to this dealership and they said there was a nail in the wall of the tire (which cannot be fixed) so they quoted $105 for new tire installed.
I had just purchased new tires so I checked with online store I bought them from - Discount Tire - and they gave me a good deal, no tax, free shipping...so we just put air in it and I went on my way.
Went to my local tire shop once I received the new tire, they looked at the nail and the guy said this is fixable, it was NOT in the wall of the tire - charged me $5 and said the repair will last as long as the tire.
Very disappointed in Hickory Toyota...the service guys must all be on commission as he tried to pull one over on me...I will not go back - they are not trustworthy.
I was shopping for a new car and it came down to a Camry or a Jetta (I have owned several models of VWs). Josh Carpenter at Mike Johnson was my contact and he was great! I met him late on Saturday afternoon. Josh answered ALL my questions, he was extremely patience and very kind. On Sunday night I had made the decision to buy a Midnight Black Camry. Monday night I pulled my new love into my driveway. Thank you Josh for all your help, Chris for calling me when I made an inquiry online and Gus for making it all happen. Work on our 2010 corrolla.. Finished work in a timely manner. However when we came in to pi k up our car our keys disappeared. It took about 2 hours to find out what happened.a woman had come in to pick her car up and she picked my keys up and left with them. The moral ic this story is the deership should not leave keys layubg around for other customers to pick up!!!!!

I have been dealing with Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota for 18 years. During that time, I have developed a trustworthy relationship with Nick Julian. I have four vehicles that I have serviced at Mike Johnson's. Nick has been my Service Advisor for about six years. Whenever Nick advises that something needs to be done to any the vehicles; I simply do it. Nick's advice keeps me on the road, and not on the side of it. That alone means a great deal to me. There is never a good time for car trouble, and Nick realizes that, and takes it seriously. Used to be a good dealership, but has definitely gone downhill and lost my business. My mom went in to turn a lease in and get another one and they took advantage of her not knowing and did not even mention that she would be receiving a bill in the mail for almost $2,000 for having different wheels and tires on the truck (more expensive wheels and tires at that). They either need to get more educated on the lease turn in process or stop taking advantage of unknowing people. Well worth the little longer drive to go to Scott Clark s Toyota in Charlotte. They re a lot more educated on these matters. Will never recommend Mike Johnson s again I ll tell people to run away as fast as possible.

Stephen Ingram and Andy Morrison were so knowledgeable, helpful and courteous when I took my 2018 Toyota Tacoma in for service and factory recall. The work was done efficiently and we were provided a rental car to use while our service was being done. We own 2 Toyota vehicles and wouldn t think of buying anything else. Mike Johnson s Hickory Toyota is great to work with for buying and service.
A good car dealership. The service department is very helpful. They have done all the service and Maintenance on the car that I use. They make sure that they are prompt and courteous.
This was the second time that our 2006 Toyota Tundra has been to Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota and it was unfortunately the second time that we had issues! When I walked into the service area, I was greeted, and asked how I could be helped. I told the young man that I need to get my oil changed. He politely let me know that it would be about 45 minutes before they would be able to get my truck into the service area to which I replied that would be okay. While I waited in the waiting area, the young man came and told me that my battery was not performing at optimal performance and let me know the price of batteries. I told him at that time that all that I want today is the oil change and he said ok. A little while later, he came and told me that my truck was ready. He told me that they had changed the oil and filter and rotated the tires. I asked him why they had rotated the tires and why were they charging me for this service. I informed him that my tires had been rotated the week before and I wanted them put back the way they were when I came to the dealership. He then said that he thought that I said to rotate them. I told him that I had not and in fact, repeated that I only want the oil and filter changed when he talked to me about the battery! He had the tires returned to the way they were when I came in and removed the charge from my bill. The first time that I had service performed at the dealership, the gasket from the oil filter was not removed and all of the oil from the engine came out and I had to have the truck towed back to the dealership. My engine still has a clicking noise when it is cranked until the engine "warms up" following that incident. I really love my Toyota Tundra as well as other Toyota vehicles and will definitely consider them for myself, my wife, as well as my daughter as she will be driving soon, but my faith in Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota has definitely been impacted by this series of events.

When I had to have something fixed the 2nd time he made sure to make it as painless as possible. Kept me updated throughout the entire process until it was finished. Everyone there is super nice and friendly. I was there for routine service and for it to be crowded it was surprisingly fast. My wife bought her car there new and it was a pleasure doing business with them.
Josh Freeman and the Finance Department did an excellent job during my purchase! However the service department was not accommodating when having items owed placed on the vehicle. It was arranged for a rental car to be provided during service. In the end they would not honor the agreement made with sales and decided saving money on rental car was more important than future business.

I had a great experience having my Tundra serviced (4 wheel alignment and an oil change). Steve, the Service Writer, was very helpful, and even sent over some pictures in a text, about a concern he had with my water pump. He was honest about the urgency of the matter, and managed to save me a few bucks. Service like his is why I continue to return to Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota for all of my service needs.
From the Service staff, the mechanics, the receptionist, Parts counter, and the Sales department... even the ladies that work in the cafe', Mike has hired a great group of people, with genuine concerns for my overall customer experience.
After nine months of trying to deal with Toyota at national level, I called back to Mike Johnson where car was originally purchased. In 10 minutes, Ashley told me exactly where to go and what to tell my local dealer. From what I can tell, the issue will be solved by end of week. We bought a van from Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota, and we have been so happy with the service we have received! Even after completing our year of free oil changes, we have continued coming back for service, even after moving down to Kings Mountain and having to drive 50 minutes! It is still worth the drive to get the type of service and care we get at Mike Johnson's. We really appreciate the time that the service techs take to explain what needs to be done, and the care that they take in helping us to make a plan that is best for us to get the work done. I also the transparency they show with the costs associated with any service.

Combined the trip to Hickory for car servicing with a trip to Vally Hills Mall for eye exams and new glasses. Mike Johnson's gave us a ride in the shuttle to the mall and pickup after our car was ready. It's a long way to go for servicing the Prius but always receive courteous service and they pay attention to how the car is doing better than I do, letting me know if anything needs attention.

I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma that needed maintenance (fluid change, tune-up, etc.) and a new tailgate. The service rep, Austin, provided stellar customer service. He walked me through the entire process, was professional, thorough, polite, and very helpful throughout the entire process. The new tailgate had to be painted to match, so I used the dealers nearby body shop. I was very happy with the service that I received and I strongly recommend this dealers service.
