Food here is over priced and taste like they don't care about it. They brought in all these new restaurants and it's all mediocre.

I've been to this airport too many times since this is the hub or stopover for the Southwest Airlines. Therefore either I came here to visit Chicago or walk to the far end of the airport to catch another flight. Each time I had only one hour in between flights. With bathroom time, buying food in line and walking to the other end to transfer to another plane, I barely made it right before boarding. One of those days, I discovered filtered water dispenser everywhere. It was a relief that I didn't have to wait in line to buy a $3 water bottle.
When I went outside, I took the train to the Riverfront area. It took an hour. Next times, uber was called to save the time. Train ride was ok. I ride trains from the airport for the experience and it wasn't bad here although it was a long, confusing walk.
This is a review of the new restaurants they put in. Lowest price of about 10 per person. All sit down. If a restaurant serves fast, the line will be long. Don't plan on eating at airport if you are short on time. They also got rid of potbelly and other go to restaurants. Eat before coming. Would be one star but nuts on Clark is still open
Nice Airport because Southwest has made it that way. I think if Southwest didn't practically own this airport, it probably wouldn't exist today. Very nice airport, well set up. It's not too big or too small. Definitely has some nice shops and some good views of all the planes taking off and landing. Definitely a nice hub until weather doesn't permit takeoff's or landings. Then you'll have a major domino effect on the entire SWA system.
Lots of great shopping and food options. Access to trains and other public transportation is easily available.
If I could give it less stars, I would. Countless times I've come through this airport and never once have I thought, "wow. The workers are so happy and helpful. And always willing to help and have a sense of urgency."
Such a rich historically named Airport(after the battle of midway in the Pacific theater). The interior of the airport has many amazing works of art from a spitfire ww2 airplane to hundreds of mini airplanes in different shapes shaped together to form a bird. Lots of great places to get a bite before a long flight like Pegasus & Mannys. The security line tends to take a long time so get there early enough and they sometimes bring a drug dog into the terminal to sniff your luggage(but no biggie if you got nothing to hide). I've always flown here instead of going deeper into Chicago @ O' Hare Airport and have never regretted it because Midway has such a great feel to it
There are almost no good food options, the airport is dirty, TSA lines can get really backed up, and some of the staff here are terrible!
Not to mention, all of our bad experiences with Southwest Airlines have happened here.
If you think this a good alternative to O Hare, you would be wrong.
Crabby tsa people. Overpriced food that's not that great. They charge you for WiFi (straight Chicago). Aside from that, a decent yet older airport.
Loved this airport! It's small, neat and clean, and has a range of stalls to pick from. Very easy to navigate and seemed to have facilities like a yoga room etc. I had a very peaceful layover in Midway!
Not quite as crowded as the other airport across town.
Its small, not the most modern but fast and convenient.
Great alternative to O'Hare, it's a fun airport to land in!
There's this really big airplane mobile sculpture hanging from the interior ceiling of this airport which is rather intriguing. The sculpture itself is made up of a bunch of miniature airplanes which in turn, then form the shape of another, giant airplane. It definitely gives the airport a very unique and distinctive touch. It's nothing which I've ever seen in any of a number of other U.S. airports that I've travelled through over the years. And there are also quite a few murals adorning the airport's walls within the main terminal building. These are mostly of the Chicago skyline as well as a lot of the city's other notable landmarks including Navy Pier & the Willis Tower, among others. The airport also seems to be pretty well operated and very clean, especially during these unprecedentedly challenging times while the Corona Virus pandemic is playing out. While not as large or as grandiose as O'Hare International, Midway Airport can still certainly hold its own!
I like that it's not as busy, and they've got a Potbelly's with non airport prices. The location isn't optimal.
Absolute s*** for food options. Over priced, not well known restaurants clearly set up to price gouge and *appear* to be fancy when all we want is a McDonald s, security has 4 checkpoints and only opens 1 of them on a busy Monday Morning. If you have dietary restrictions of any kind, do not count on finding anything to eat on a morning flight, or any flight for that matter. Eat before you come to the airport.
Management took a halfway decent airport, and ruined it. Thanks.
Landed here from DIA. This airport is samller and quieter than O'Hare but having nice environment and good service.Very clean. Easy to navigate. WiFi should be free.
Terrible food options, they have no chain options at all so everything is "not really local but looks it". Seems like the same corporation owns multiple establishments as you'll find the same menu items all over the place. Your choice is cafeteria/catering style fast food or better have a long layover sit down restaurants. Being "local" you get that markup on top of airport price gouging. A grilled cheese is $11 and it only goes up from there.
Always on time or earlier. Clean. Lots of food venues and shops.
Checkin was easy (Southwest), TSA wasn't too bad, but picking up luggage was terrible. Took them 2 hrs to deliver bags to the carousel.
Its huge & reminds me of Hartsfield. My only concern is you can't really social distance. Its crowded in most parts. It made me anxious. A lot of shops were closed so I couldn't really shop for souvenirs. But I ate at Hubbard Inn and the food was so good!
My flight from there was terrifying though. We were going to Atlanta on the evening of Oct 15 and at first I thought it was turbulance because of storms in Indiana/ Tennessee but once we cleared the clouds the plane was STILL shaking and felt like it wouldn't make it. I couldn't stop trembling after that initial dip the plane took. It was Boeing 737-800. I wouldn't dare get on that plane again.
Better of the two airports in Chicago in my opinion. Easier to get in and out of. Still a pain, but less so than ohare. Close(r) to the south side if that is where you call home. Off rt50 and close to 294 and 55. Less crowded, less likely to have delays, and home of Southwest for Chicago, MDW is a pretty good airport as far as they go. Also, security seems much faster here.
Terrible baggage claim system in place. It takes an freaking eternity for them to get luggage to the baggage claim. What a disaster
First and last......very poorly designed airport. Rental car shuttle service is all the way upstairs to the end. Did not enjoy flying in to this airport.
Bathroom are not clean and they need more food vendors
simply the best airport in the world. been about 20 times now.... ALWAYS checked bag and security in less than 20 min total.
Originally from the Midwest, I fly into this airport often on my trips back home to see my parents and friends who live in Chicago. I'm a Southwest Airlines fanatic thanks to the nonstops flights they offer out of my home airport In Las Vegas. This is their hub for the city of Chicago and my primary airport when I return to the area. Over the years, I've found MDW to be efficient for my travel needs when visiting the Windy City. They have completed some major renovations for this airport over the years, so it's worth revisiting if you've avoided it for its past subpar reputation.
Pros:
Revamped food/restaurant selection of fast casual food choices
Public transportation to downtown is simple via the L (orange line will take you right downtown (no car needed)
Ride share options such as Uber and Lyft are located right outside the baggage claim area with clear signage. Grabbing a cab is easy, if that's your thing.
Free WiFi for travelers - watch a quick advertisement and you're on your way
Seats have charging stations to ensure your gadgets and gizmos don't run out of juice on your flight
Overall, MDW is easy to navigate and get in an out (especially when compared to O'hare). It's not too big, and not small -- just right.
Great hospitality from checking in, grabbing my bags and maneuvering through TSA - I haven't had a bad experience to date.
Flights generally on time (outside of times when weather
Cons
Even with TSA pre-check, security lines can be long -- plan ahead and arrive early with some patience. They do their best to move it quick.
I have visited during the holidays and noticed seating can be limited during heightened travel dates/times in November/December.
Parking shuttle service can be slow, and if you rent a car plan to arrive early for TSA and the shuttle service
A little confusing to be able to take uber or similar services for the first time
Airport is poorly designed for the amount of travelers that come through. Lines are long to get through security, seating is hardly available near gates due to overcrowding, delayed flights, and total confusion at the end of the B concourse. If you can fly in or out of any airport besides this one, you should. Southwest usually is not this bad at other airports in my experience.
Pains me to give it even one star. What happened here? Junk food vendors, stale, way overpriced, very poor service. Most appear to be one-off vendors. Even the Dunkin Donuts is of the poorest of quality and service.gives this long standing brand a very bad name. All the other top fast food franchises are long gone. Probably, and surprisingly, unable to stomach stooping to such low standards. Concession workers sit and eat in areas reserved for flyers being loud and messy. Just kind of a sloppieness and decease of service all the way around. I'll only fly SW in a pinch now. It's a totally disgusting experience. Somebody's getting rich here. I'd like to know who?
Easy to navigate, convenient via train to downtown.
Very nice airport, big, good design, good security. Many food and drink options. Shopping within it. Many VIP rooms. It has something that is fantastic is that it has a train terminal on the first basement down a staircase from where the suitcases are removed. Those trains go in the direction of the center of the city (direction to the Loop), and they are mu and economic.
Much more relaxed atmosphere than O'Hare. Helpful employees. Outdated decor.
Worst airport food in America. Whoever decided to change the food lineup is an idiot!
This is for L'Appetite near gate b1: Walked around midway (which we like) in our terminal to try and find some good food. This place seemed pretty straight forward and I love paninis! Too bad they were served COLD. Took the food on the way back to our gate to sit down and eat since the food lobby was too full. So, to be fair, I did not give them a chance to rectify the situation. It looked like they grilled the bread then assembled the Panini rather than putting it together and then grilling it. Also got a little salad out of their case- soggy croutons. Is there anything more cruel? Save your money for another place. I just wasted $35 there.
They pushed to become an international airport in recent years, Southwest only operates at this airport. The food court has its very own Ben & Jerry's where there is actually none in the city itself which I find ironic.
With renovations, places are moving. Yoga and Mother's room were on concourse A on 5/21/19. Yoga room had no wipes.
Midway is Great and the TSA is very efficient compared to other airports
Much less crowded than ohare. You're still going to wait in security but it seems to move faster.
The food there was extremely overpriced, everything on the menu read like a gourmet experimental pretentious project. . .
I live an hour and a half from Chicago so I'm pretty use to the rude people that live here but I will never ever fly out of midway again. The Airline staff was super nice and great but the TSA employees were absolutely rude. You shouldn't talk to customers like that especially when your job depends on those customers. Instead of being polite and saying instructions they were extremely rude and demanding. I travel for a living and have never been treated as rudely at any other airport so therefore I will never fly from here or recommend anyone ever fly from here.
Definitely not the most modern/updated airport but it is clean and has everything you might want.
Great access, fast TSA, well staffed, full service.
It's so easy to fly out of Midway. Flights are almost never delayed and getting through security usually takes less than 5 minutes. They could use some additional restaurants, but the ones they have aren't bad.
My wife and I are here now using the free WiFi.
Very nice airport, easy and fast check-in with Porter Airline for flight to Toronto.
Passport control and security check went fast and efficiently.
Many nice shops, cafes and restaurants. Facilities were clean.
Nice airport.
This is THE airport to use when flying to Chicago. Where O'Hare is a zoo, Midway is much less crowded and, IMHO, much more convenient in every way.
Super efficient security process and great food selections. Didn't even have to pay for pre-check!
This is by far the worst airport you ever want to fly into. The runway is so short and the decent is so fast that it's like riding on a roller coaster dropping 1000 feet. It's worth driving the extra hour to ohare.
Every restaurant bad. No sanctuary from penny pinching corporate overlords.
Very nice food courts and shops. Much cheaper than many airports. Fly SWA all the time great customer service!
A wonderful airport if you are taking Southwest, with fast and efficient security check, easy navigation, quick parking, fast luggage pick up, short walk to the orange line, auto fill water fountains, good handicap service, and many moving walkways.
Things that the airport can improve on, need more women bathroom stalls, expensive and bad food (there are more restaurants coming), need more auto fill water fountains, and less chaotic ride sharing pick up site.
Overall, it is an awesome airport to have for both domestic and international flights. Much easier to get to and less line than O'Hare.
You need to comfirm where will be the best exit before you move to,otherwise you will carry your heavy property hanging around from upstair to downstair.
Great food and drink options. Very clean. Wi-fi is an absolute joke. Couldn't get a steady signal to make a video call. Regular phone call was choppy until I got of the Wi-Fi network.
For an airport, its the bees knees. Security is always very smooth and Southwest (my preferred airline) flies out of here. I wish there was an easier way to get there with public transit from the north end of town, but we can't have it all right.
Easy to get in and out, mostly use this as a connection stop. Security is being revamped which is nice. Sad they took the McDonald's out in favor of some unknown restaurant. Glad to see Dunkin. Amenities are good, seating is good. Would be better if full free WiFi instead of just 30 mins. Major airport for Southwest airlines.
It's not my favorite drive from the North Shore. Prefer going to Milwaukee. But the Southwest fares are pretty cheap, so we go that way. It's really easy to park and pick up short term. You need to take the departures exit to get to the convenient short term lot. If not picking up from the curb, that's the way to go.
Also, they don't communicate well when baggage claim goes down. Would it be that hard to actually let people know what's going on?
It was OK, but ORD is bigger. The food choices are pretty good. I was last here in December 2015 and the experience wasn't all that bad.
Overall, not a bad airport. The food court could use more seating options.
I love the express line option for security saves the time
The travel experience was good. There is a small walk to get to the end gates, so make sure you're not rushing it.
Tiny gate areas with insufficient seating, temperature is excessively warm, staff at one restaurant, one book store, and the airline gate were quite rude. Will actively avoid having to fly through here again.
I could not find a way to edit my previous review about Midway not being pet friendly. I was there on April 11, there is a pet relief area inside security it is located across from ate A5. My dog enjoyed the experience. The other review was based on a prior layover.
Wifi continually disconnects and the service is slow everywhere you go. I understand waiting in line but the workers shouldn't move like snails.
This airport is easy to get to, and way better than o'hare. Southwest is the best aireline to fly, which is why love this place.
Easy in and out travelled at nite good experience construction got confusing but staff helped out a lot!
Flew back home out of this airport and I'm not sure who's idea it was but having those two security dogs sniff along the queue line prior to the metal detector was absolutely brilliant!!! It sped up the security process and avoided us having to take off our shoes for screening - FANTASTIC!!!!
Bad food selection and charge too much for most of the time bad service
It's easy to to forget Chicago has another airport besides O'Hare, but I am so glad they have Midway too! Midway is a smaller, easier to navigate airport than O'Hare. It has good food options and the best part is you can follow the very clear signage to get on the CTA. Get on the Orange Line and in 25 minutes, you're in downtown Chicago for only $3! Awesome!
A true retro experience. This airport should lose hub status to another regional airport designed for current population levels.
Lines were longer than most airports. Security was more poorly organized than most airports. Restaurant I was at had more problems than most airport restaurants, and they recovered from them more poorly. My flight was delayed repeatedly, and so were the flights at both gates next to mine.
Of course, it may have just been an off-day and a bunch of coincidences. This was just my experience, but I'll plan on using O'Hare in the future unless I get different information.
Dirty old run down airport. Definitely in need of some updates
