I have flown out of this airport three times in the last year. Twice because of connections and one flight from Midway to st. Louis. I have yet to leave on time. Every flight has been delayed over an hour and I've yet to talk to anyone who has had a different experience.

Compared to the ugly sister, ORD, this is the better option (unfortunately you're probably going to be locked into South-worst). Much closer to downtown and also a B+ rating for on-time landings and departures compared to ORD's D-. Smaller, so easier to navigate and as it's closer to downtown it's usually a shorter travel time to downtown. Love that it's connected to the Orange line as well, and shorter than the blue line's journey to and from ORD.

Inside, in Baggage claim, there's not a lot going on, there's a food kiosk but not a lot of selection, you'll be hard pressed to find even bottles of water. However, the airport staff working here are exceptionally helpful, they offered to announce over the PA for me when I lost something.

On the other side, past the Security check points, there is only one food court -- mediocre and I think the Potbelly's is gone.

If weather is a concern, book Southwest -- this airport has a better chance of taking off on-time or at all compared to ORD. 5 stars!

Decent airport and clean but there s no free WiFi and all the restaurants are terrible. Drinks are over priced too ($13 for a rum and coke??). Just don t buy anything and get to the airport early.

This airport while trying to improve is going down hill terribly with food and ammentities. They've recently taken away potbelly which was their best restaurant. Now it's a very poorly run awful tasting pizza place. Same goes for Chinese place and a couple others. Don't come here hungry. I can't fathom why they changed to these restaurants. Someone made a terrible decision. Plus the employees they are hiring are not competent or kind. No other issues with airport just know a lot of unhappy travelers regarding what I just mentioned flying through here once a month or more.

Decent airport for flying out of. Traffic is not that bad as compared to getting to O'Hare. Biggest issues are long security lines due to fewer checkpoints and poor options for food and shopping. Not the greatest airport but certainly far from the worst

This was the worst airport experience I have had. We flew southwest and had to wait in line for our infant ticket that took about 45 minutes since they had only 2 agents working that line. We arrived an hour and a half before our departure as recommended. I have added a picture of what the TSA line looked on a Sunday morning at 8am. I have never seen any line this long.
We got through the line faster then expected but still running against the clock to make our flight on time. One of our trays got selected to be checked by tsa the agents took their time to change what line they were going to be checking bags at which was stressful. We could have really used that extra 10 minutes before our flight. We barely made it to the gate before we took off.
I would arrive 2 and a half hours before the departure of your flight just to be on the safe side.

Ok its an old average airport. Small ceilings, not very modern and the planes have to take of and land super fast because it midway inside the city. I don't choose it for its options rather because of convenience

I like Midway, whether I'm flying through or staying in Chicago. It's a big airport in a city that already has O'Hare, but not so huge that you can't get between gates in a reasonable amount of time. There are tons of food options, but beware of some of the sit-down ones. They can have significant waits, which is no bueno when you're about to board.

Terrible food choices. Limited diversity. Few food places resulting in long lines to grab a sandwich which often is low quality. With the increased need and demand for food services and the limited choices and stores offering that, customer service in most of the food establishments in this airport is poor. Bathrooms also very crowded and busy although they are relatively clean considering their heavy use
The general looks of the airport are depressing and looks like it is a very old airport ready for a major overhaul in both its management services and looks

Shockingly incompetent security staff, busy normal day and precheck closed, tsa having people take regular headphones and USB cables out of there bags. I watched them accost people for have sealed granola bars. I NEVER review airports because I know how difficult it is to scan a bunch of uncooperative people but I fly 50+ flights every single year for business and this experience was that bad. TRAIN YOUR TSA AGENTS AND DONT CLOSE EXTRA LANES ON BUSY DAYS.

Good.

What a terrible experience. Airlines need to warn passengers flying out of MDW with regards to the line system. If there is NO line for Sky priority passengers, why get charged? What s worse is that you are putting customers at risk of missing their flights. WTF?!

Left phone on waiting area seat... cleaning woman found it and gave to staff at Chicago PD at Terminal C...they were already on the way to my gate with it when I went back to find it. Awesome service and yes, police lives matter.

TSA super slow. How about less people standing around telling jokes and get people through the lines. Spent almost 40 min in line on Sunday. Sad considering we have spent billions on this false sense of security

Seriously ... not much here when you are waiting for your family or guests to arrive.
Even the USO is not accessible to those waiting for others .. the USO is inside the secured area and only passengers in flights can enter (which is unfortunate .. given it was Disabled Veterans picking up family and we couldn't access the USO!)
only food accessible is donuts that were overpriced ..

Great ! it's a smaller Regional Airport, so easy in and out. It is also being remodeled, so the facilities are being upgraded. I totally recommend it for travel as an alternative to O'Hare. The park and fly options amongst local hotels are also very efficient.

Airport is okay, but the TSA Pre Check agents are absolutely the rudest I've encountered in a long time. Felt like they were on power trips where they got to yell at people and bark out orders. We're paying customers, not inmates.

At the best of times, Midway is an excellent airport to get you through and on your way out, or back home. It's compact so getting around is quick, yet has quite a lot of amenities to make traveling relatively easy. However, at busy times, this place can be a headache. It's best to use the CTA Orange Line to avoid hefty parking or transportation fees, and have TSA Pre-Check.

What's sad about Midway is it used to be a great airport. Wasn't too crowded, great food options (Potbelly, McD's and Miller's Pub), and pleasant staff. It has definitely gotten worse here over the past couple years. The food now is overall bad and extremely overpriced, though thankfully they put in an Einstein Bros and Billy Goat. No lounges here still, which is ridiculous for an airport being a major hub of a major airline. Some outlets do not work. Security is very inconsistent; sometimes it's quick, other times atrociously slow. Staff seem to be a lot grumpier here nowadays than they used to be. There's quite literally nothing to do or see except a small exhibit about WW II.

I really don't get why people love this airport. It may be marginally more convenient than O'Hare, but that's literally the only positive about the place. Terrible just about everywhere else. They need to put the Potbelly and McD's back. We don't want overpriced/fancy dining. This is definitely an in and out airport, not a place people want to spend time at.

Christian Ste Maria you are a joke to leave a review saying because your daughter cannot miss her flight you thought you should be expedited through the line? Who can miss a flight? Unreal how some people think they stand above the rest

I flew out of here a month ago. I had a 4 hour layover at MDW and it is a nice and spacious airport to walk around in. Good areas to watch planes are in Concourse B over by the windows! If you want to take a nap and get away from the hustle and bustle walk all the way to the end of concourse C. It s a quiet area and not that many people are there. It s for private airlines so not that many departures!!

Easy to navigate, small and efficient. It can be hard to find espresso here, mostly drip coffee. There is an expansion coming soon, I imagine there will be decent espresso unveiled in that. The yoga room is especially awesome when you want some quiet in the hustle bustle.

The smaller airport of the two in Chicago. Because it gets less attention, many people dislike it compared to O'Hare. While there aren't as many travel options, it operates just fine as an airport, and because there is less traffic, it's also less congested. It's also accessible via the orange line. Don't be too worried if you are scheduled to fly here!

It's not as crowded but it's not very cosmopolitan either. The best thing about Midway is the ease of train to gate access from the redline (if living on the northside neat the redlline) to orange line with no need of going out of the CTA turnstiles to transfer. O'Hare sucks to take public transportation to and from the northside if living close to the redline. Its ridiculous i have to go all the way downtown to double back north via the blue line to do the same type of transfer without exiting the turnstiles. Midway just sucks as an all night public transportation hub so dont rely on CTA or Pace at all at late night flight times.

Pretty good airport. Dealt with friendly staff working for Delta. TSA will always the the TSA, but didn't encounter any long annoying inefficient lines here. Small and not much to see but perfect for those who want to avoid the headache of bigger airports.

The restaurant selections are bad. There are not many outlets. No lt many starbucks or coffee joints available in multiple areas. I mean c'mon it's time to adjust to more people and more traffic.

Smaller that ORD which allows for a quicker travel through, but also due to the size there aren't many options for food and the seating/restrooms aren't as nice. So it's better for short layovers, but not as good for the long ones.

Airport just went through a renovation and a new Food Vendor, Not the best selection, way overpriced even for Airport places. Figured I would get a Chicago style staple, no not a Hot Dog but a pizza. They had to have them right? The Vendor was Home Run Inn they offered up a 6" Round Pizza in a box just a little bigger than a CD case starting at $8.99.

Home Run Inn like all the others are a local restaurant brought into the terminal, the thing is they are also known for their Frozen Pizza too from info I gathered online. So what you got was a factory made 6" Pizza unfrozen and then heated. Not to mention a very generous crust with no sauce and toppings running the whole way around. How hard would it of been to do a fresh Chicago pizza by the generous slice?

Other places, DeColores Burritos, The only thing that was burrito about the burritos was they called the Beef Brisket Barbacoa, Other that they were what every other placed calls a wrap. They did have Quesadillas but did not check them out after seeing the Burrito menu.

The food fare besides the Hot dogs and Dunkins were mostly what you would find at the restaurants in a gentrified neighborhood a little off the beaten path menu items or "unique toppings" on the standards with a few actual standards sprinkled in, I was actually looking for the lofts that sprout up around these type places.

All in all not impressed with the remade food fare on a layover. They Gentrified the Airport

I'm a pilot for a commercial airline and I purposefully take the Mid-way route because Midway has the best Airport bars in the upper-midwest! Theres no airport bar scene like it within a 1000 mile radius.

Cheap rail drinks, two for one specials, and no one drink limit. Everything a commercial pilot needs...

Had the "Big-City" atmosphere and Chicago's culture in every inch of the building! The best part of that though, is that I didn't have to fly in & out of O'hare International; that place is... well, haha O'Hare ! Midway had great policy, efficiently managed the security screening process. I actually had to go to 2nd & 3rd security screenings due to my license being expired - and even during that, the searching officer still maintains a good attitude, a smile, & small talk. Will definitely be flying in - out of Midway more, and more. I believe I saw some construction under-way there as well. They are constantly improving and expanding! Good Job Guys!

My family and I stayed at the Hyatt Place Chicago Midway from October 13th 2019 until October 16th 2019. The staff and management here are very professional and on point. Anything we needed they were there and even anticipated things that we did not need ,seeing as how we were traveling for multiple days..through multiple states, and the weather in Chicago tends to get a little cold. When my son got sick the night crew made it a point to be sure we had everything we needed to make tea just the way I would at home. Mr. Lee the General Manager is Courteous, Kind, and knowledgeable. His true love of his job and the Establishment is seen and felt. We plan on coming back in the Spring and look forward to seeing all the staff and staying at The Hyatt Place.

The better airport in Chicago, but not in the best area. Security lines are usually not that bad and there are a decent amount of restaurants inside. It could use more seating though and more power outlets by chairs to charge your devices.

Er, it's an airport.

PLUSES: Much less crowded and insane than O'Hare. Short security line when I went (though this was 9pm on Friday night). Ben and Jerry's ice cream at reasonable rates. Seats that aren't moldy. Cab ride from the Hilton only $25.

MINUSES: Same annoying bullshit terror announcements as other airlines. Hard to find a place to plug in your laptop to work (I had to sit in the middle of a long hallway).

Picture this it's 10pm on a Thursday. You're trying to get to New York. You have a late flight and it's been delayed. You're new arrival time is 2am. You think, this sucks but I'll have a few beers to get through the night. Nope. Not here. Everything closes at 10 without consideration for you delayed flights. Please delayed passengers, just sit here and stare at your phone. We have no alcohol for you, we don't like pulling in the $10 per beer we charge. So keep you money and go to your destination. Spend it there, Illinois obviously has no budget problems.

Extremely difficult to find ANY gluten free food. No menus are labled and none of the staff know what ingredients the food contains. If you have a gluten allergy, bring your own food, this place is a gluten shrine (at least on A and B concourse).

I had a reservation when in Indy for but i ended up not needing it that day, the next day i was flying out of IN to Midway in Chicago Illinois. Well when i got to the airport there was a horrible storm, and my plane, and planes going into Chicago were canceled!! I couldn t get a flight out for 9+ hrs!! I had my children waiting for me at Midway airport (they traveled in from CT), my Son has special needs and we had figured out all our airline tickets to make sure that we arrived at close proximity to one another!!

So i was in desperate need for a car to rent to drive 3+ hrs to get to my son!!

Than i remembered that i had reserved a cast to

Closest airport if you want to go downtown. We flew into Atlantic aviation and even though though the fees were a bit on the high side they're nowhere near as bad as signature. You're better off not buying fuel and just paying the handling fee. There are plenty of places within 10 minutes that you can stop at that have avgas under $5 per gallon. As for transportation to downtown go ahead and take the L train from the nearby stop. It'll take about as much time as a cab but you'll be out $5 instead of $40.
