I've had seats in the orchestra and I've also been all the way back in the nose bleeds. The accoustics are amazing from every seat! The downside to being seated nose bleed is that you need binoculars/opera glasses to see the humourous expressions on the performer's faces. Trust me, it is worth it during comic moments. Drinks are pricy, so visit the local watering holes beforehand. :-)

Delightful place for the opera. Comfortable seating. Nice venue.

This was my first time going to the opera and we just couldn t wait! For our first time, we picked La Boheme. Despite rushing after work to head here, trying to find parking, running in, we still managed to get there too late: right at 7pm when the show started. They re very strict at letting people in once it starts so you have to wait for the second act to go in.

We were bummed to miss it and thought we would just have to waste the first 30 minutes of it and be lost forever. They re prepared for all the latecomers so they have a room, kind of the size of a movie theatre room, where you can watch it in a big screen and not miss a thing.

Once we got to our seats, despite them not being the best seats in the house we still had a great time. The seats are comfortable and you have subtitles in at least 5 languages (English, Spanish, German, Italian, french). We had a great time and can t wait to be back for our next show in March!

If you re super confused and stuck on what to wear like I was, you can t really go wrong with anything. We decided to go with cocktail attire but there were many people dressed formal as well as casual with jeans on. For a nice night out at the opera I definitely think you should go all out and stay classy. Might as well right?

Absolutely spectacular opera house, with a most magnificent entrance, of red carpeted spiraling grand-staircases and majestic chandeliers, befitting of NYC.

And, I do believe, that I had counted at least six balconies, within the theater.
Also, the moving additional chandeliers, and lighting displays, designed for performances, are elegantly reminiscent of classical grand European theaters, but modernly technically operated.

I was extremely fortunate enough to attend the performance of Don Giovanni, on my mother's birthday of April 9th, in remembrance of my father Don Giovanni.

(Although a completely opposite personality, my father, not at all a Don Juan, of low moral character and abusive corrupt nature with no integrity.)

My father and grandfather, both named Don Giovanni, although my grandfather's full name was the most honorable Marshall Giovanni Tartaglia, who was commissioned by the Neapolitan King, to save the lives of Italians and the freedom of all humans before the corruption, of the fascist party take over and massacre of World War II.

Both my grandfather and father loved my mother dearly, their entire lives, as their one true love.

I wish everyone would have the enormous, golden opportunity, of eternal motherly love, which gives birth to all life.

Thus, this is a most majestically magnificent venue, to immerse oneself within the harmony of classical perfection.

A must visit. So much history and a variety of amazing performances. ABT ballets are fantastic. Same with the opera but I've only seen 2 in this venue. Might depend on which opera you see. Production value is phenomenal. Buy tickets the day of at the box office for the best price.

For years my friends have felt intimidated by the word Opera. Of course these same people watched Pretty Woman and like many of us took a made up movie and made the experiences the real gospel.

It ain't true folks. If you can't afford season tickets then shoot for a same day rush ticket.

You can wear jeans or a gown, just don't come naked. You don't need to know another language either but you do need to go and experience at least one opera before you make up your mind about one of the oldest performance plays ever.

Just try it you may love it.

You can enter from directly from the parking garage underneath but I wouldn't miss the wonderful Lincoln Center plaza and its fountain. Make sure to note the raising of the chandeliers right before the performance begins.

A wonderful experience where the best of the best come to sing. Some production are lackluster, some are astounding, but the caliber of music is always amazing. Get a glass of champagne and enjoy the show!

I was thrilled with Der Rosencavalier, by Schtrauss. Just incredible, staging, voices, costumes, and most of all the play and performance. After an extensive travelling abroad, the facility looks outdated and not glamorous

If "Art is the right making of the thing to be made" then the building, the acoustics, the level of the artists excellence who perform there, offer the chance to experience Art in every performace.

Stroll through the Metropolitan Opera House even if you are not going inside for a performance. Every element of this opulent building - from the limestone architecture to the lobby's glittering chandelier, to the acoustic in the concert hall - is gorgeous

My home away from home! As an insanely devout opera fan I visit the Met some 20 to 25 times per year and have sat in literally every section of this enormous 4000 seat auditorium. If money is no object go for the Grand Tier. In terms of sound, however, the balcony is best. The Met is hands down the gold standard of opera houses world wide thanks to 40 devoted years by Maestro James Levine whose brilliant artistry will live on in the hearts of those of us who know and appreciate his dedication to the art form. Just enjoyed the new production of Tosca at the magnificent Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center. The set, the costumes, and orchestra, and the cast were all at the top of any scale. Having seen it many times, this evening made it refreshingly new again!

Took my mom to see The Magic Flute (the show my husband and I met in as performers) and we had the best time. The gift shop is great too, and the 'My First Opera' book we bought for my 3 year old was a huge hit! She's played over and over so much that we already need to replace the batteries.

As large as it looks in photos, nothing compares to the awe and Majesty of this classically designed opera house. Yet, as large as it is, I never felt too far away from the stage. I was close enough to see all the details of the wonderful show. Opera glasses may be needed if your eyes aren't the best, but I wear glasses and could make out every figure and movement.

Dazzling experience! Javier Caramena's and Pretty Yende's performances in LA Fille du Regiment were as advertised, even better as I think back. His high Cs were encore-worthy but it was soprano Pretty Yende 's performance that was a delightful surprise. Think vocal gymnastics. Amazing! Opera at the Met is a transporting experience and this one just soared!

What an amazing experience.....I went to see the production of Porgy and Bess. It was superbly produced and the performances were amazing. The opera house itself at Lincoln center is beautiful (some of the staff weren't that friendly/courteous when I observed other attendees asking simple questions)

Unique in architecture, centrally located and a huge variety of shows with international casts. Awesome costumes and stage design.
Prices for drinks are ridiculous and all of a sudden guests nicely dressed in Chanel and Gucci, sipping 40$ bubbles out of a plastic glass. My, sooo tacky! This ruins the atmosphere and is an unacceptable trash production.

The most beautiful venue to see an opera, the ballet or a play. It's the heart of NYC! One of the busiest sections of NY, with tons of restaurants, plenty of places to sit outside. If you want to get the full feel of the hustle & bustle of NYC, then you've come to the right place! Enjoy!

I've only been to the Opera three times in my life; two of them were here are both were absolutely unforgettable. I saw La Traviata, a stunning minimalist performance, and Tristan und Isolde, which had a modern coat of paint and unforgettable visuals playing with cross sections of space and the interplay or light and dark. The place exudes the sense of monumental space and just being in it makes you feel like part of some huge endeavor. I'm no expert, but I think it's a beautiful opera house.
