The MET is one of my favorite places in the world....

The MET is one of my favorite places in the world. I've seen a number of productions over the years and I'm still awestruck every time I go. For instance, recently I saw Nabucco, and they actually set the set on fire during the scene where the city is taken.

Their occasional abridged, English-language adaptations of opera favorites like The Magic Flute or the Barber of Seville are a great way to introduce friends to opera.

Student tickets are available for $25 for most productions. But even when those sell out, you can go the day of any performance to the box office on the morning of the performance to get standing room tickets for $25. Those tickets are seriously worth it, and honestly, the standing room location is pretty comfy for what it is. Best value for what you get I'd say. Not that there's anything wrong with the Grand Tier... heck, if I had the money I'd get seats there more often. ;-)

If you don't know Italian or whatever the language your opera of choice is in, fear not! Every seat has its own subtitle screen that can be adjusted to display titles in English and usually a few other languages.

Stunning facility that regularly provides world class opera!! There is such joy for an opera fan such as me to experience the beauty, majesty and virtuosity that the Met offers. We traveled there to see Tosca and what a rare treat. The sets were just amazing like you were right on the roof on the stage when they execute... well, you get the picture. Bring your children and grandchildren to this amazing place for a magnificent musical experience.

Though it was built in the 50s - 60s it still stands classic today. It is NYC opulence and a cathedral to the arts at the same time. Always appreciate having that glass of champagne between acts.
The productions are off the charts, the number of extras, the entire orchestra, it is a phenominal experience. Go even if you dont love opera.

Without this place my life would not be the same. It's a temple of music. One live performance could change your life forever. If you have never listen to Opera, go buy a ticket for the family circle level that will cost you only around $20.00. Start with an Italian Opera. I will advise that you also go to UTube and get familiar with the music. Familiarity with the music and the story will give an extatic appreciation.

This is an absolutely stunning venue for both opera and ballet, much prettier than NY State Theater, in my opinion. Definitely worth a trip to see American Ballet Theater or the Metropolitan Opera.

The building is very detailed on its architecture and host several pieces of fine art. The amazing factor for me was the fact that they have subtitles on every seat so no matter what language the Opera is you will always see the original line and the English line. Great experience overall!

I like it. The building, staff and shows are good. The production of the shows are outstanding! Minus for wine in normal plastic water cups. It is possible to be a little bit more classy.

No one loves the Met as a building. The auditorium is a barn, the public spaces are awkward and insufficient and the design is ugly and dated. The Met Opera under Gleb has been in free fall with atrocious productions and slipshod performances. However, at its best, the Met can put on opera as good as anywhere in the world. Tge problem is that it reaches that standard less and less often. One night in five or ten rather than one in two in the pre Gelb era.

Student rush tickets at the Met are the best thing since...something very important and memorable. World-class singers in a fantastic theater with the best sets and tech of the day, performing in fantastic productions. What more do you want?

This is the best operatic experience you can find. They are always finding new talents and attract the best from the best. I recently attended La Fille du Regiment with Pretty Yende and Javier Camarena. The voices, the costumes, the decorations were fantastic. Also, the building itself is very photogenic.

It is always a privilege to attend an opera performance at the Met. This is where one can hear the best voices in the world sung to a music conducted by the best directors. It is refreshing to see the younger audience attendance increasing. Thanks Met for introducing Fridays under 40, and for bringing in amazing set and costume designers. I would love one day see a Zeffirelli production - i hear that experience was magical.

What s can I say, it s the Met. Not only is the building itself gorgeous, but you ll rarely find another occasion where people get dressed to the nines to see a show. The experience is exactly what you d expect from old NY high art and certainly does not disappoint.

Also, if you re under 40, there are special prices for tickets that you can grab that allow you to have a free drink or so, plus better seats at that price.

Quite simply I love the Met - I've seen a number of productions over the years and I have never been disappointed. Value for money it is head and shoulders above the ROH which is so expensive.

I always love The Met Opera. Fantastic performances and top notch music. My only complaint is the subtitles in the seat back versus projection over the stage, as it requires constant refocusing of the eyes.

I attended the MetLive performance of Madam Butterfly. I attend your performances regularly. Was very disappointed in that production. The tenor, whose voice was fine, sang to the audience instead of to his beloved. No emotion displayed. One puppet was bad enough .. two is worse. The whole production was full of distractions.

New York is always top in everything they do!!! Like the song by Frank Sinatra.. I have the jingle in my head as I write this review. I have been coming here since I was a kid either with my parents for recitals I was in. Or for enjoying a show with family and friends. You can't go wrong by coming here, not only are their performances packed with things to see and hear. Its really relaxing to watch. Some people really get into it. And I have to say that is my favorite part. So come be a part of it.. buy tickets and have a great time. I love their weekday specials you get two tickets for the price of one and you can't beat it. After dinner this is the perfect place to come. Enjoy!!

This is the finest opera house in New York City. As soon as you enter you will be transported into another world. If you arrive late don't even bother trying to take your seat because you will be stopped by an usher. Lateness is considered rude to the performers and you will be relegated to the standing area until the first intermission

Grand opera all week, every week. The productions are lavish, the sets are beautiful, the theatre boasts fantastic acoustics, and the programme is spangled with Stars! Each seat is equipped with a personal device for subtitles in English and quite a few other languages.

Andrea Bocelli at the Metropolitan Opera House was phenomenal!! He put on a show with the energy and passion of a new to the scene performer. My friend had an issue with our tickets for the performance on 02/10 and the Staff from the Metropolitan Opera House as well as staff from the promoters not only sympathized with our plight, but also made it possible for us to see the show on 02/17. I cannot praise them all enough for the experience they allowed us to have!! We were also lucky enough to wait with many other concert goers after the concert ended and were able to meet and have our CDs and Books signed by Andrea..Once in a lifetime event for many of us.

Going to the Met Opera was an amazing experience. I had never been to an Opera before and had an amazing time watching La Traviata. The building itself is also beautiful. An awesome experience and would highly recommend!

I had a great here the other night, such a cool space and everyone gets dressed up for the most part, the seats were not the best but I had binoculars, the performance as a whole was really great, though I wish I read more about the story so I could follow it better.

The seats made my back hurt, specifically a disk issue at L4-5. The publicly available drinking water was also warm, but that's being super nitpicky. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone. If you have lower back issues bring an appropriate pillow to sit on.
