We took our little kitty, Buddy, to MedVet last night when he suddenly lost the use of his back legs. We had no idea what the heck even happened. The staff at MedVet were so kind and compassionate. They took him back immediately when we arrived to try and stabilize him. The Veterinarian, Dr. Quigley (I think was his name), was so patient with us in explaining everything so we could make the best decision for Buddy. Although we lost our dear little Buddy last night, I don't think his last hours here on this earth could have been more dignified and peaceful. My husband and I are extremely grateful for the wonderful care our furry little guy received.

Really great experience today at my dog's annual dermatology recheck visit. Everything about the dermatology team has been great, and I'm very happy with the results of the allergy immunotherapy he started 5 years ago.

But what prompted this review was the incredible level of service provided during today's curbside visit (due to the ongoing pandemic). Everything ran incredibly smoothly, and I was informed about the new process calmly and cheerfully by everyone I interacted with. I was particularly pleased that the technician taking my dog's initial history was proactively concerned about any anxiety my dog might feel being in the building without me (as he is on prescription anxiety drugs for generalized anxiety disorder / noise phobias). Really impressed with the smoothness of curbside service and the professionalism and skill of the entire care team.

Our beloved 10 year old, 120 lb German shepherd mix died unexpectedly in the middle of the night, and my boyfriend and I were hysterical with grief, and unsure of what to do next. We called medvet and they were so kind and calm over the phone, which I'm sure can be difficult when someone in a complete panic, choking on sobs is on the other end of the line. We got our boy to medvet and the technicians took care of the body for us. They let us visit with him, and were so gentle with him throughout the moving process. The ladies working at the front desk were incredibly accommodating as well, and did all they could to make us comfortable. The price to take care of his remains was very fair as well. Although I hope to never have to return again, I'm not sure what we would have done at 2am after losing our best friend if they weren't around.

I was referred to Dr. Matthew Barnhart by an ortho vet in Cincinnati. My standard schnauzer was accurately diagnosed by Dr. Barnhart with a full CCL tear on the right knee and a partial CCL tear on the left. He recommended one surgery with a TTA repair on both knees. The cost we incurred was the low end of the estimate we received. Our dog received excellent care and care plan and medications for home. We received thorough and precise instructions on how to care for our dog and rehab her. Whenever I called with questions, my calls were promptly returned. As a result of the work of an excellent surgeon and good care and instructions from the people at MedVet, my dog is walking pain free with no limp and doing most of her normal activities at only 7 weeks after her surgery. I am thrilled she was able to get one surgery and recover so quickly. I am sure she will be at 100% when fully recovered. A dog doesn't have a long life and I wanted to minimize the amount of time she spent with surgeries and discomfort. Dr. Barnhart made this possible.

Of course, veterinary care is expensive, but we are talking about exceptionally skilled people with extensive schooling, training, and expertise in specialties. There must be a lot of overhead for this facility and staff. Some of the reviews here focus on complaints about the cost. But this is a business and not a charity, so realistically, it is going to be expensive and health outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

I thank Dr. Barnhart and the people at MedVet for returning my 5 year old dog to her happy life and good health.

Our 13 y.o. shihtzu fell off the bed and pulled out her toenail. Lots of blood. It was late, and I was 8 days out from a TKR surgery. They were quite busy. Still, everything worked seamlessly from registration through triage and medical care. Our Ladybug is on the mend. We are so grateful to MedVet.

Where do I even begin... I cannot recommend them highly enough. I rushed my 15 week old kitten to medvet at 3 am, in the middle of a terrifying first seizure episode. they met us at the door and dove in head first to save her. After being unresponsive for 40+ hours, the amazing medvet staff saved her life. she is now 5 months old and doing incredible.
the front desk staff was equally amazing. they took all 47 of my calls (lol) the two nights she was there and were so sympathetic and responsive, despite how often i called. neurology was incredible and the nurses kept her so safe and comfortable, and worked 24/7 to keep her alive.
i cannot recommend them highly enough. they saved my kittens life. Thank you to the selfless staff of Medvet Columbus.
I d like to specifically thank Emma in neurology, she was always calling me with updates and never made me feel like a burden.

Our poodle was having trouble breathing, so we too...

Our poodle was having trouble breathing, so we took her to Medvet. I clearly indicated on her admission paperwork that she had mega-esophagus, was syringe fed in an infant car seat, and could not have water only ice. They admitted her, and no one requested her food, car seat, syringe, or ice. Therefore, I assumed, since they said she would be getting an IV, that she would get any food, water, and medicine intravenously. When I called to check on her the next day I found out that she had been given food and water. When I asked why, they assured they knew how to treat dogs with mega-esophagus and were holding her upright after feeding her and giving her water. Then I asked how they were going about administering her medicines, since we would grind them up and mix them into her pureed food before syringe feeding her. They said they had found some rotisserie chicken in the kitchen and just put her pills in it. I told them she couldn t have chicken. She had mega-esophagus and was syringe fed. They assured me again that they knew what they were doing, and she was fine. Seven hours later we received a call from the emergency room doctor telling us our beloved pet was in respiratory distress. They had pulled a piece of chicken out of her throat and wanted to know if we wanted to have her intubated. Before our wishes could be relayed to the doctor treating her, our precious pet was gone. I am not saying Medvet was the cause of our poodle s death. As I said, she was having trouble breathing when we brought her in, and she had a long history of extensive medical issues. However, you should make sure they really know what they are doing if your pet has a special condition and requires special care. Our poodle should NEVER have been given solid food. She hadn t been on solid food for nearly 3 years. Because I requested an investigation into how it came to be that our pet was given solid food, MedVet did accept responsibility. They acknowledged our instructions were not followed and for that I am grateful. This does speak to their integrity and the situation has supposedly been discussed with their staff. Nevertheless, we re heartbroken and hope no other pet owner has to go through something like this. In hindsight, I should have monitored her care more meticulously and not accepted their statements that they knew how to treat a dog with mega-esophagus. Unfortunately, I will now have to live with regret.

Took my cat here because she was having issues walking and eating. Within 24 hours they were able to diagnose she had cancer. Sadly she was terminal and didn't make back home but Dr Malone and many of the other Vet's and Techs there tried there best and for that I am grateful. It may cost a more to take your pet here but that's only because its some of the best care they can receive with 24 hour staffing and an emergency room. They made her last few days as comfortable as they could be.

My tabby cat, Bingley, had a urinary blockage and stayed here a couple different times during that ordeal. Bingley was treated well and the staff were very supportive and compassionate and also highly trained, jumping into action when critically ill animals came in. Bingley is doing great now, thanks to these great veterinary providers.

I had the best experience at MedVet in Worthington when I had to take my dogs here in the middle of the night. The entire staff made me feel very comfortable. Everyone was very friendly. Dr. Dunlevy did an excellent job of addressing my concerns and making sure my fur babies got the exact care that they needed.

This is the WORSE PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN IN MY LIFE!...

This is the WORSE PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN IN MY LIFE!!! We took our 8mth old puppy "Roscoe" that is like mine and my fiancee''s son out here on Thanksgiving because our regular vetenarian was closed due to the holidays. We had spent $352 on Monday and he was diagnosed with parvo and they gave him fluids, and medication to take home. Well we got scared on Thanksgiving night because I felt like he was getting worse so we get there and the nurse took his vitals which were good, and he was responsive and still alert ,which are all Good signs. Then finally 3hrs later the doctor came in and made us feel like our feelings and Roscoe's well being meant nothing to her because we had no money on us at that time and had got turned down for the med care loan!! Instead of tryin to help our poor sick dog that was vomiting all over the floor she just suggested putting him to sleep WTH?? She never once mentioned his vitals or our work status, ( which we are both employed") and were capable of getting money the next day and however much we were short then we could've set up a payment arrangements, seriously?? I basically cussed her out and told her.... Hell No she wasn't killing my dog!!! We left brought him home and yes he was very sick for another day, but I'm proud and happy to tell you guy's he made it and is still apart of our family because we were smart enough to go AMA on her advice!! He's back to being Roscoe playing fetch with his bone, running around the house, wagging his tail, giving kisses, and eating and drinking!! That place is no place for any animal not even a bug in her office she would just stomp it and March in to whatever room has $ signs. That place is a joke and should be investigated for animal cruelty!!!

Everyone was so kind when we brought our dog in for a sudden issue. We were really scared and everyone was patient and clearly cared. When we sat on the floor with our dog, Dr. Connole sat on the floor with us. It made us feel so much better knowing that the staff truly cares about animals!

Waiting half an hour in the waiting room, not impressed with the professionalism of the front staff. They seemed to just be joking, standing around\ and staring at me while my dog is bleeding in the waiting room. I will say that the doctor who actually saw my dog was very informative. However, 20 minutes after I left the facility (after 2 hours of basically waiting around there), they called to say they forgot to add something to the bill and if they could take a credit card payment over the phone. They sent me my receipt via email but never returned my messages when i asked if they would send me a breakdown of EVERYTHING done that night, including what they FORGOT to add to my bill. Obviously, this place is very expensive... I would have liked the professionalism of the front staff to be better to justify the price of this emergency.

We had to rush our girl here on a Sunday afternoon, due to possible pneumonia. We are so thankful for this facility and staff.

While our outcome was not what we wanted, we knew there was nothing else that could be done for our Lily. She had somehow contracted a fungal infection in her lungs, as well as other parts of her body. Issues we only suspected were all connected.

When we arrived they immediately rushed her to the back, hooked her up with i.v. fluids and made her as comfortable as they could in an oxygen tank. Ex-rays determined it wasn't good and we had to say our goodbyes.

Dr. Chin was amazing. She was understanding and did everything she could to help us feel better. We were able to go into the back and hold our girl as she was peacefully euthanized and was given the time we needed with her.

Some may feel the prices are high, but considering the fact that this is an all hours emergency hospital, it was worth it. Everything was completely explained to us with compassion and understanding.

We will miss our girl, but would never hesitate to return here with future pets, if necessary.

A huge thank you to everyone for taking care of our Lily. Thank you.

Update: I picked up Lily's ashes yesterday. I bawled all the way home. They were in a lovely wooden box, with an engraved plate, paw prints, hair clippings and so many beautiful touches. Thank you, MedVet

Awful they charged me over 1000 just for testing my dog and I didn't get any answers, this place is a racket! Long wait lines and they will charge you as much as they can. They also had so many vets and not one returned my call or showed much compassion everything was about the cost of the treatments. Took my dog to a local vet who cured him for less than 150 dollars and provided excellent customer service. Stay far far away if you care about the health of your pet and good service!!

Car met dog, resulting in broken leg. OSU Hospital unable to treat, referred us to Medvet. They gave Ralph tender, loving care, lots of pets and attention. Brought him in Wednesday, operated on him Thursday. It wasn't cheap but they were through, did an ultrasound which found a mass on his spleen, they removed during surgery on his leg. They let us call for updates, even in the middle of the night. The techs and doctors told us he was a sweetheart which we already knew. Although he is a large pitt, 85 pounds, he considers himself a lap dog. We were told he already had a fan club, offering to put his head in any available lap.if you need emergency care, they are a good place to visit. Don't expect cheap but do expect top of the line service.

A visit to a pet ER is nothing to look forward to, but the staff that we worked with was very compassionate and helpful during our visit. Thank you to everybody who took the time to care for Bud.

I would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Kevin Render. Although we lost a member of our family, your compassion and genuine attitude really went a long way for us. I truly thank you for your efforts and take comfort in knowing that our Bud had someone like you caring for her in her final hours. That is something we will never forget.

Although I hope that a visit to Med Vet is not in anybody's future, sometimes that is the way life works and I feel that your furry loved one will be in good hands with this team.

Our beautiful 7yo furkid boxer had been misdiagnos...

Our beautiful 7yo furkid boxer had been misdiagnosed by a local vet who said she needed to lose an eye! I called MedVet & their ophthalmologist was able to see her immediately. We both relaxed instantly when Dr.Greenfield came in. He spoke quietly & calmly as he examined her, explaining to both Sugar Bear & myself what he was doing & why. He took his time with her, for which I will be forever grateful, because his extensive examination led him to a decision that would allow my baby to keep her eye. I was so relieved! He went over the procedure with me, explained the pros & cons, also giving me other options as well with NO pressure & explained the estimated cost of each one. Surgery day was set in Columbus, 1.5 hrs away. Dr. Greenfield was there to meet us & go over everything again & let us know approximately how long surgery would take. He also warned us (again) that she would most likely have an odd shaped eye but it would be saved & vision wouldn't be affected. The staff was fantastic! Free WiFi, got us something to drink, made sure we were comfortable, even suggested a place to eat that was near the hospital. When sugarbear was brought out to us I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Her eye was perfect!!! Took a few weeks for recovery, the staff was more than helpful when I called with questions, Dr. Greenfield would even take the call if he could or call back that day. I thought the cost was more than reasonable considering the level of care we received. We've returned several times with our other precious pets & ALWAYS receive professional, courteous & empathetic care. Without hesitation, I highly recommend MedVet for all of your furkids needs that goes beyond vaccinations, the level of care far exceeds the cost any day.

Our cat Olivia was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma before the holidays. MedVet was highly recommended by an outside party, so we went there scared but hopeful that someone could help her. We were blown away by the compassion, knowledge, and pace of the care provided by MedVet (specifically ER, Oncology, and just general staff). Everyone was really friendly, and Olivia got all the care she needed. Even though she can't fully recover, she was in the best possible hands we could find and left her overnight feeling nervous but hopeful. Every staff member was great, and they kept us up to date with Olivia's needs and status. They even let us come in to see her and drop off some toys for her around midnight. We hope Olivia never needs to see a vet; but if she ever were to need to again, we know she will only get the best at MedVet. Thank you all!

We had to go to MedVet for the worst experience a pet owner has to face after we found out our Boston Terrier had terminal caner and a few days later was clearly uncomfortable. Almost everyone we dealt with at MedVet was so compassionate -- a number of the technicians and doctors were in tears right there with us when we had to put Chloe down. Thank you for making one of life's most difficult experiences a little bit easier and making sure Chloe was as comfortable and loved as possible. We were so thankful for all that you did.

Unfortunately, I have a decent amount of experience with MedVet. Everytime, they have been wonderful. The most recent trip ended up being some really awful news, but the staff was amazing. My kitty got great care and it's obvious they take their jobs seriously and love what they do. Because of them, I still have a few months, maybe more with my cat. This is a good place if you're in need of emergency or specialty care.

Good care but VERY VERY Expensive.. I recommend pet insurance if you have to take a pet here for any reason.. I have pugs and 1 got pneumonia a few years back and had a collapsed lung. Her bill after 3 days of care was 2500. I took a pug in last night b/c I seen it coming and caught it early.. well she has pneumonia too and the bill is over 3200 the FIRST NIGHT... I am currently waiting to get her back and see what the final bill will be after a few more days of care.. They add and add test upon test to rack up the charges for sure.. I will be comparing bills from the previous trip with my other dog who required more extensive care..

We usually take our Big Love to Rascal Unit in Dublin, but not anymore. We were very pleased with our time at MedVet! They took such good care of our big guy. He is always so terrified at Rascal Unit and we thought it was just the vet in general, but when we took him here, he was the calmest we have EVER seen him with a vet. He was seen for a major ear infection, and they took great care of him. We also saw Dr. Neilsen and loved her!!! Thank you Med Vet!!!

We used this place twice because they are the only place open late, and both times the front desk seemed wholly uninterested. They charge a lot of money just to diagnose the animal. They told us the cat needed a blood transfusion and then he *might* survive. We chose not to do it, because the cost was too high for a possible failure on a foster animal, and the staff did their best to make us feel like horrible human beings for asking them to just put the animal out of its misery. We did feel bad, but we had the body sent to our regular vet, and his diagnosis made us feel better. Turns out the cat had an autoimmune disease and could not have been saved anyway. Thanks Columbus Veterinary Emergency Services!

Will you pay a little more here yes, however the treatment your family member receives the entire time is 5 star. They go over every detail with you and give estimates before anything is done. Our boxer boy is almost 10 and after the proper diagnostic tests, they had to remove his kidney and part of his lung. When we visited our boy, he was clean and happy. His incision line was clean and dry. I would definitely recommend this place.
Because of Med Vet we went from a few months with our boy to a few more years.

We received two estimates that were inconsistent with fees discussed with the vets. We agreed on a course of treatment for our dog and then they pressured us to do more surgery, more visits, more bloodwork, more money. I believe they are preying on people's love for their animals to spend more money at their facility. They said when I needed more prescriptions, just call and they would have them ready. When I called they wanted more visits, more money...it's scammy.

We had a very positive experience with Med Vet. Our wait time was very reasonable considering my pet had an urgent (not emergent) health concern. They did not blow off my concern for my pet. I would highly recommend this location to anyone that needs after hours and/or urgent/emergency pet care.

I took my dog in because she was hit by a car. The doctors and surgeons were informative and diligent. However, the front desk staff seemed rather uninterested in doing their job. One gal rolled her eyes at me when I handed my completed paperwork to her. I was told my dog was to be kept overnight for a possible surgery in the morning. Before we left we were asked to pay $3500 as a deposit for the estimated total cost of surgery. We paid the deposit. The next day, I was informed there would be no surgery; due to the extensive nerve damage it would be best to wait for surgery in case amputating her leg would be the better option. I was thankful that they didn't do an unnecessary operation but, I was annoyed that I had already paid for half it. I was told to be there at 2 pm to pick up my dog. After arriving at 2 but, having to wait an hour, I finally was able to see my dog. As I was checking out I was told that we would be refunded almost $2000. It just seems like a very odd/inefficient way to do business. I feel like them waiting one more day before they charged me could have saved me the hassle of now having to wait for a very large refund. I am very thankful that they did what is best for my dog but, overcharging such a large amount as a "just in case your bill is $6000" seems like bad business. Did they really need a "deposit" for my dog? I obviously love her enough to try to save her life, I am clearly going to come back to get her...couldn't they have waited less that 24 hours for my $1600? The point is, the medical care is good but, the administrative and business department is very poorly operated.

I took my dog to the Hilliard clinic for acute weight loss. The doctors ran a series of expensive tests that didn't find anything wrong. She was then transferred to the Worthington clinic for further testing, which also failed to find anything wrong. I later discovered on my own that the cause of her weight loss was chronic dehydration. I was able to fix this easily. The doctors noticed that she was dehydrated and administered IV fluid but failed to identify this as the main problem.

I'm one of the lucky ones. My 3-year-old cat neede...

I'm one of the lucky ones. My 3-year-old cat needed a CT scan and polyp removal from his ear, deep in the tympanic bulla. I was referred here by my vet, whose office isn't equipped for that kind of surgery. I was scared to death after reading a review where someone's young cat had the same procedure and died as a result of it. However, my boy pulled through and his incision healed quickly, he was able to stop wearing his cone after 10 days. Dr. Dudley and his team explained everything thoroughly in the consult so I knew what to expect. They also called frequently on surgery day with updates. The office even called a couple days later, after I brought my cat home, to see how he was doing. All in all, I felt I received excellent care and my fears were alleviated.

However, the cost is absolutely ridiculous for such a small, common procedure. I wasn't about to refuse and let my cat's polyps grow and ruin his hearing/vision/balance, but still. Onto the credit card it went, it'll get paid off in time. Based on other reviews, it seems like the company, which has offices all over the country, is eager to gouge patients. If you love and value your pet's life, you'll pay anything, and they bank on that.

There's a lot of staff behind the desk, and they are continuously busy. Be prepared to wait and be shuffled to the waiting areas (I would like to note that there's a cats-only area, walled off so dogs aren't rushing at your cat carriers. Doesn't do much for the noise, but it's still considerate). For as busy as they are, the clerical staff can sure keep themselves entertained. During one of my checkouts, I watched as they swapped personal stories while an upset person brought in her dog with a mystery ailment, she was beside herself. They checked her in but mostly ignored her while laughing at their stories. At the same time, they were saying to bring out a cardboard coffin for someone else's pet who didn't make it, in a tone that was more like "we're out of paper clips." I suppose in this line of work, you have to keep distracted and positive, but from the point of view of a worried or grieving pet parent, it's highly insensitive.

Like I said, I was very lucky to get out of there with a healthy cat. Someone I work with recommended I cancel my appointment and take him to a low-cost, walk-in clinic, but after looking into that place, I decided I'd rather take my chances here. Looks like I made the right choice.

Dr. Barnhart is the best! He has performed surgery on two of our dogs that had ruptured their right knee ligament. Our first visit was in 2014 with our labradoodle - he now enjoys a happy life being able to run around at full speed and playing fetch again. Our second visit was with our other labradoodle in 2016. He is currently in the 7th week of rehabilitation and is doing just fine using the leg again. MedVet has an extremely friendly staff and is well organized. We will definitely return with any future issues. Thank you so much Dr. Barnhart!! Our boys Ripley and Oliver also thank you! :-)

Dr. Barnhart and his staff and everyone I delt with at Medvet were all very professional and kept me at ease before and during my dog Griffins surgery. I would reccomend Medvet over any other pet facility even OSU. Everyone made me feel comfortable and that my pet was their main priority through the whole process. Thanks for taking care of my best friend.

The staff here is very comforting! I went in with a medical emergency with my puppy and yes the staff does "make jokes or acts quite cheery" but it really did help me calm down! I went in thinking there would be some sort of panic or something but they were saying that this kind of thing happens sometimes and she is in good hands and telling me how cute she is... Well it really helps to calm the nerves! I definitely did not see that as them "not taking it seriously" like other reviews have have stated. Not to mention the most important part, they saved my puppy's life!! she had to stay overnight for treatment and monitoring and they allowed me to call and check on her, keeping me updated and I could hear the compassion in everyone's voice that I spoke to over the phone. It's just really nice to be able to trust that your baby will be taken care of to the best of their ability and that they really do treat you and your animal with respect and compassion. And yes treatment does cost money... That's part of owning a pet. Just as your medical bills will cost money, so will your pets medical bills. And from the information I've collected, the medical expenses could have been way higher for the same exact treatment she received so I did not think this visit was too much money to ask for to keep my puppy in good health! I'm very thankful for the veterinarian, vet techs and all of the other staff that has taken care of my puppy!

The staff is really friendly and very helpful. They took great care of my puppy when he broke his leg and we were waiting to find a place for him to be splinted and have surgery. Talked us through the whole process!

The only downfall is the price.. 167$ just to be looked at is just so high.

The staff recognized my dog needed help upon entering the front door. He went for emergency surgery that night and they saved his life. Everyone we encountered at MedVet were extremely caring and helpful. The surgeons called me with updates, and we were also aloud to visit and call whenever we wanted. I can't say enough about this amazing facility!

Care is wonderful, only complaint is that sometimes I don't get the information I need. I left two doctors long notes with detailed questions and never heard back. Other than that, they've always been wonderful. Not cheap. Recommend getting pet insurance. The wonderful but this is the second time I've called with a question about my pet, who is having ongoing treatment and I never heard back.

My wife called these folks at noon on Tuesday 5/2/17, and our Veterinarian, Dr. Lutz has presumably also called them in an attempt to schedule a CAT Scan for our dog. Thus far they cannot be troubled to even call back, and we only get recordings; nobody live. However, these reviews seem pretty rational, and they do seem to reply to the reviews consistently....so I guess the best place to get a response from this fine organization is on the GOOGLE REVIEW BOARD! Call us please, Ferguson, Marietta, OH. THANKS! (I will update this review once we finally obtain services....at the moment "Neutral" is the best I can muster.)

UPDATE: I added a star to a net 4-star review, because for a relatively thrifty money experience, they told us our dog was essentially "done" owing to extensive cancer, and did not show any inclination to wring us out of undue monies to drag out the process. Let's face it -- most folks go to these extravagant vets with all the imaging equipment because they've been given very bad news, so the idea of any outcome ending up "favorable" is pretty low. I wouldn't want to be in this business -- the choices are always between "Bad", "Worse", and "Hopeless".

Go to OSU. They don't care about your pet, they're only worried about money. They also don't get results back in time. Also, their dermatologist are idiots. You would think someone who specializes in the skin of animals would know what skin cancer is. Charge you 600 for a skin biopsy, tell you it'll be back Wednesday, Wednesday comes they tell you no it won't be in til Friday. Friday comes and the dermatologist is out of state? Really. THEN after finding out our dog has malignant melanoma, they call you and try to sell you a bunch of very expensive options and treatments, for our 12 year old pup who is clearly dying. They do not care about us or our dog they just see it as more money.

Everyone here was incredibly kind and sincere. From the first call I made, to ask questions about my cat s symptoms, the receptionist and technicians were warm, empathetic and knowledgeable. I then had to visit Med Vet because my cat s symptoms worsened. I was immediately greeted by a warm and professional staff member. She outlined the process clearly and provides great curbside care . I did wait in my car for 2 hours while my cat was being cared for, though I was given frequent calls and check ins (since all of this happened during COVID19). The technicians and doctors were great listeners and thoughtful practitioners. I hope my pet doesn t have to return to Med Vet, though if they do, I feel at ease knowing they will be given such great care. The cost of the visit was well worth the peace of mind.

We have been taking our Welsh Corgi here for over 5 years now. Dr. Fenner is the best for neurological disorders. Our mini doxie had a ruptured disc and was quickly losing use of her rear legs. Dr. Barnhart, who has national recognition, performed emergency surgery, and after a four week recovery period, our little girl is up and running and enjoying life again. Dr. Barnhart kept us informed and educated and basically saved her from paralysis. He spoke to us on a first name basis as if we had known each other for years. We have been to MedVet several times in the past with other dogs for other needs as well. The place is top tier and has some of the best vets in the country. It certainly costs more than a visit to the local vet, but you get that for which you pay, and they have specialists whose skills go way beyond the basic training and capabilities of your local vet. We cannot thank Dr. Barnhart enough. And thanks to Dr. Bancroft as well for her expertise and suggestions for physical therapy we were able to do at home as well as at MedVet.
And thanks go to the MedVet Emergency Department also.

My dog was an oncology patient there for the last year. The communication and abilities of every person I interacted with there was second to none. Sadly, I had to take my dog in for an emergency on the evening of Saturday, August 10. Unfortunately, my dog passed on to the rainbow bridge that night, but every step of what was an incredibly difficult experience was made easier by the wonderful and caring and compassionate MedVet staff. Thank you for all your hard work. The staff, from the front desk through the doctors, are a beautiful light. I cannot be more appreciative of their help.

I brought my cat here last night. My cat seemed like she was dying. 21 years old and liver issues. After crying the entire 20 minute car ride, I get out to talk to the lady who approached our car. My cat is cold and I was keeping her warm in a towel. She gets my info and then goes back inside to "grab a carrier". She comes back out and tells me I can't come in. I was 90% sure I was going to have to put my cat down. The "carrier" she brought out is a clear tote with holes in it. My cat is shivering and they aren't going to carry her in. Sad. I understand that COVID is freaking everyone out, but they could've set me up in a room, like some other reviews mentioned.

So I walked away back to where my brother parked the car. We went to OSU VetMed (another 15-20 min away) and my cat is staying under their care for a couple days. They gave her fluid/electrolytes and pains meds. OSU let us in the lobby and of course we respected the 6 ft distance rules, masks, and whatnot.

Never considering this place again.

Our lab tore his ACL and had to have surgery. Dr. Barnhart was our surgeon. The staff was so nice to us and on our initial visit everything was explained to us, about the procedure, the time line. We knew what was happening. The day after surgery we were able to bring Sonny home. But before his release, we received instruction on home therapy that we had to do week by week for six weeks. On his six week checkup, an X-ray was taken and the knee was healing with the plate and pins right where they should be. It is a very stressful time when your dog is hurt and in pain but the Dr. and his staff did everything they could to reassure us that they would do all they could to get our Sonny back to normal and they did. He is once again back to his old mischevious self running and playing . Many thanks to MedVet and Dr. Barnhart !!!!

My 13-year-old Pomeranian-terrier had to come in as an emergency transport from the Easton PetSmart Pet Hotel right before Christmas (and I owe a million thanks to Katie from PetSmart for taking her). Sophie was ill before we went out of town but I thought she was well enough to be boarded with our other dog (dogs are tricky like that). She wasn't well enough, though, and her health declined rapidly. There were a lot of long-distance phone calls, consultations, and difficult decisions made. When she was brought to MedVet they were able to stabilize her until we could get a flight home so she could be with us in the end. MedVet was very helpful and incredibly communicative with us, especially given we were out of town and it was a major holiday, and they aren't Sophie's regular veterinarian. They also emailed me a very detailed description of Sophie's health, intake assessment, and her treatment plan from Dr. Stephen Martinez and Resident Ayeley Okine, which I found incredibly professional and helpful. We really appreciate the care MedVet gave Sophie, because it made a really traumatic experience a little easier.

The post-surgery care that Charlie received while in Dr. Barnhart's care was excellent. While Charlie will never compete again, he is able to lead the normal life of a dog. He runs with our other dogs and plays as if he never suffered and injury. I can't thank Dr. Barnhart enough.

Traumatizing experience for my family pet...

Traumatizing experience for my family pet...

Terrible. I brought my dog in to MedVet for a very swollen extremity a few days after a growth removal (which was done at his regular veterinarian office). The veterinarian office was closed so we went to MedVet. At drop off, no one was allowed to enter the building except patients/dogs due to COVID procedures, which I was fine with. Since they told me it would be a wait time of 1.5-2 hours, I agreed. And I understood when the employee told me that MedVet operates just like a human ER and that wait time could vary. I did receive phone calls when they needed more information about my dog and when the doctor was about to examine him. I received another phone call from Dr. Dunlevy staying her findings. She let me know that my dog s regular veterinarian called and they collaborated a game plan moving forward. I chose an option that they both recommended. I asked that I be given an estimate. I received another call from the doctor s technician doing just that and I agreed to proceed. Another call was to inform me that the doctor was starting on my dog. This was after sitting and waiting in the car for 2 hours. I called after another hour (totaling a 3-hour wait time) asking how much longer. The woman on the phone said about 30-45 minutes (after she checked in the back). After another hour (total long a 4-hour wait time) I called again and they said the doctor was just now getting ready to start on my dog. After a total wait time of 5 hours, I finally saw my baby boy being walked out of the building. As soon as I got him into the car, and started crying loudly, shaking, and seemed to be having an anxiety attack. He did this the entire 30-minute drive home! I ve had my dog for 7 years and have never heard him cry. Ever. I know this was from how stressed he was in that building for 5 hours! I called to ask about medication given to him. I agreed to methadone on the phone with the doctor and I was billed for fentanyl, and that s what he was given. When I asked about the timing of the fentanyl injection, I was told he received it as soon as he was handed into their care 5 hours ago and that it s normal for it to have worn off by now. I informed her that I never gave consent to medication until hours after drop off. Then the technician gets on the phone and says he received the fentanyl 30 minutes before leaving. Then I asked how my dog did throughout the 5 hours in their care and was told he was laying down comfortably the entire time. And then the same person said that he was stressed and got a little grumpy when the doctor started working on his case. I feel that the my dog did not receive adequate attention while in MedVets care and that the staff is very good at apologizing. The original plan I had agreed to in the beginning involved taking him home that night and coming back the next night, 24 hours later, to remove the compression wrap and re-wrap the extremity. I wouldn t take my dog back there if I was paid to do just that. He was traumatized! I ended up changing his bandaging at home and taking him to our regular veterinarian the next day. And she said that I did a good job bandaging at home. I don t care to explain other details of our experience with MedVet during this visit because what s done is done and my dog is safe and comfortable at home. I paid hard-earned money for a place with an outstanding reputation. I even worked for a veterinarian for a few years long ago that always recommended MedVet for any 24/7 medical services to pets. And clients always came back with great reviews! I can t believe that I, more importantly, my dog was treated this way. Never going back.
Also, I received an email about a quick survey that would only take a few minutes . When I opened it and selected 0 on the scale of 0-10 of how likely I would be to recommend MedVet to anyone, it immediately closed me off to the rest of the questioning process and said thank you for your feedback . Apparently, they only seek feedback if its going to be positive. Terrible.

Very friendly and compassionate staff. Took my kitten for a non life threatening leg injury. The wait time was reasonable, he was triaged within 5 minutes of arrival. The doctor was very nice and didn t recommend unneeded tests or treatments. Discharge and medication instructions were clear.

Update 12/2019: I was referred here by my regular vet for a polyp in my cat s ear. Like another reviewer, my vet couldn t see past it to the ear canal to be able to remove it and referred us to MedVet for a specialist. We had a surgical consultation on a Thursday morning and surgery scheduled for the next day. Surgery consult was very informative and Dr. Kennedy was awesome. I was a nervous wreck and he and the entire staff answered all my questions with compassion and understanding.

On surgery day, I was kept well informed of my cat s status. Surgery went well and all discharge instructions were clear. They even called a few days later to check to see how he was recovering.

Everyone I ve ever dealt with at MedVet has been nothing but kind and compassionate. Yes you will pay a bit more here but it s no different than paying more to go to a human ER. The prices are higher to accommodate 24 hour services and specialty care, which is well worth it in my opinion.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for the MedVet Columbus team. They were so wonderful to Olivia and us during her chemo treatments. We could tell they really bonded with her and she felt safe in their care. Today we received these beautiful cards with notes from the each team member who had gotten to know Olivia. Great emergency vet. You can schedule an appointment or just come in. It's 24/7. I will say it is very expensive but so is an ER visit for a human. It's probably expensive to run this place.
We have taken a cat in with a heart murmur. Everyone was great, it is a benign murmur. they said he did great which is surprising bc he's very nervous.
We also took a cat in bc of weight loss and behavior changes (another 24/7 vet referred us bc medvet has better equipment). They were very good to my cat. The staff was a little too peppy but I think that's how they handle the stress of the job. Our cat was diagnosed with cancer. They offered chemo but were very understanding about us not wanting to put a 11 yo cat through that stress and pain. We got steroids and put him to sleep a few weeks later. Dr hostutler was very kind about it. It helps to have a vet who has also been in that situation.

Although medvets initial assessment fee of 157$ may seem like a lot at first, you will get the best care for your pet and the veterinarian will not try to up-sell you. I was so happy with the care my pet received at the ER and I can't thank the staff enough for how great they were. Everyone I interacted with, from the front desk staff, techs, and vet, were all so kind and truly cared about my pet. They never made me feel like my concerns with my pet were small/annoying compared to other pets at the ER. The vet was so nice and always walked us through each option before doing anything to our pet. She was also really good at explaining things clearly and took the time to answer all our questions. The staff even clipped her nails for her which I thought was really nice. Overall I really appreciate them taking our concerns seriously and I'm really happy with the care our pet received. I brought my pet to a different ER a few days before this and I had such a better experience with MedVet.

Horrid. This was the biggest waste of time, it literally made a bad day terrible. My cat broke his paw at 7:30am, I went to my actual vet Elemental, who unfortunatly recommended Medvet because their vet was not in until 9am. I take my cat to Medvet at 8, where they have him until I'm fed up at 12:30pm. All they did with my cat who's paw is dangling, is sedate him with drugs twice to LOOK at his paw.. to tell me it's fractured. CLEARLY it is fractured, if not broken. So I then had to pay $211 because they just kept drugging my cat all morning instead of oh idk getting an actual x-ray?! Now I am sitting at Rascal Animal Hospital and it's 3pm, waiting to get an x-ray..and to HOPEFULLY fix my poor cat's leg.

Medvet is overpriced, slow, and if you truly care about your pet I would highly suggest you avoide it.

I had to put my dog down after surgery one month. ...

I had to put my dog down after surgery one month. All they care about are money.
They diagnosed my dog had a lung tumor and need to remove. They also said my dog had tumor in his brain and suggested to get MRI scan is cost $3800. I declined it. Then they quoted lung tumor removed will be $4800, but when they operate the surgery on my dog, they add on CT scan for another $1500. Before the they operate surgery, they did physical exam on him and said he was good for the surgery. During the surgery, they said they found out some air pocket in my dog lung, if I want remove it would be another $800. I accepted that option. After surgery they called me and told me that the surgery was successful and I can pick up my dog 2 days later. Later that night they called me and said my dog was developed pneumonia and need to stay in hospital for another 2 days, it cost $800 for a day and they do not guarantee my dog will be survive. I asked the doctor, I believe her name is Dr. Carr, if you did physical exam on him and said he was ok for the surgery, why he get worse after surgery? You called me before and let me know the surgery was success. Now this is another problem. She said I have to understand my dog is old. My dog is OLD, if she knows my dog is OLD why she still recommend the surgery on him??? And make excuses. I still paid for it, over $7000. Oh God, I still not save my dog life. I think if i did not put my dog through the surgery, he will be alive for couple more month or even years. All they care just a money.

Updated: After I posted this review, Medvet reached me and told me to call them to discuss about the surgery. I called and left voicemail to Manager of Surgery Department on Friday April 17th, 2020. Today is Tuesday April 21, 2020 and I still not receive the call back from them. I just wonder if they take customers opinion seriously.

Updated: I called back on April 22th, 2020 for follow up. They said the doctor and the manager were in meeting and would call me back anytime within that day. Today is April 23th, I still not receive any call back from them. They really do not care about customers.

Updated: They called me today, Monday 04/27/2020. The refused the fact that she said my dog is old dog after the surgery. They said I sign the knowledge risk of the surgery paper, bla bla bla,... but they skipped the fact that doctor told me my dog is old and not guaranteed after surgery. Now I'm carrying over $7000 debt. Guys, bring your dog to OSU, they may more expensive but your pet life and your pocket will be guarantee by honest doctors.
