Terrible. I felt like I walked into the shop of an unscrupulous car mechanic. Dr. Carr tried selling every diagnostic test at once. I m on a budget, had called for estimates before traveling 1 1/2 hours, and what was 1500-2300 soon became 3500-4500 for my cat. I spent 610.00 on consultation and essentially the same diagnostic tests my home vet already did. This was after I asked if they were forwarded the papers and X-Ray, Dr. Carr seemed confused or arrogant, not sure which, and briefly shuffled around the papers in her hand before recommending more tests. Also, she tried to sell the pre-anesthetic screening (chest x-rays and abdominal ultrasound) for the relatively low cost of 675 because, although my vet did chest X-rays, the abdominal might show cancer or something that could be problematic to complicate anesthesia especially in older cats. When I told her my vet and I think she s about 2 years old, Dr. Carr responded that we don t really know since she was a stray rescue. While the staff was kind, Dr. Carr was clearly not a cat person, and I don t feel that MedVet regards cats with respect. My cat waited hours for her procedure in a back room alone. And because they found nothing and could only throw more test options that seemed like surgery was iffy anyway (plus, I really couldn t afford all of it), I ended up euthanizing her. I wish I had done that in my hometown instead, where she would have been surrounded by family and spared the extra time on the road. Instead, with hopes of making her life better, she spent her last hours as a by-product afterthought to MedVets priority of paying off their equipment. I m disgusted that medvet attempts to disguise their lack of true care under the superficial esthetics of hospitality; coffee, nice waiting room, and fancy cardboard casket with a baby blanket to return your pet that they didn t really care about.
