Let me start out by saying we are extremely pleased with our experience with MedVet Columbus!

For almost a month we ve been going back and forth with our regular vet, trying to figure out what was causing my 1 yr old lab s eye-squinting/rubbing/tears. Finally they were stumped and referred us to an ophthalmologist. I called OSU first and they didn t have any available appointments for 6 weeks. Called MedVet and they were able to see us in two days. We obviously didn t want to wait long to get seen, as our pup was clearly in pain and we didn t want her to cause more damage to her eye from all the rubbing and by not getting it taken care of.

Went for our appointment and were seen very quickly. We had been told and were prepared to wait, but they got us in within 5-10 minutes! Her diagnosis was Ectopic Cilia, and surgery was needed to remove the hair follicle. Surgery was scheduled the following week (3 days later). All went well and our girl is doing great! We are so relieved she is feeling better and no further damage was done, and the folks at MedVet were so kind and thorough.

As far as the cost: The initial appointment alone was $170. Which I was told up front, and we knew we would have to pay more to see a specialist. For the surgery, they quoted us $600- $800, and the total ended up coming to $620. YAY! (This included antibiotic drops, pain pills and lots of instructions, and a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks. They also sent all the appointment and surgery information over to our regular vet to keep them informed!) So YES this was a little pricey, but we feel like we paid for great service and care, and more than anything are relieved that our pup is A-OK now!

We would DEFINITELY go back to MedVet Columbus in an emergency situation or to see another specialist. It was more costly than our regular vet, but this wasn t a routine visit or check-up. You will always pay more to see a team of specialists- but TOTALLY worth in IMO.

Thank you Dr. Webb & Team! Very sweet people and great at what they do!

Fantastic. My dog somehow ate an entire femur bone from a cow in less than 3 hours and began to vomit bone shards. I took him into these guys and while the wait was longer than I'd have liked, they took great care of us. The receptionist was great, came out to see my buddy Tyson and make sure nothing was immediately wrong. He was excited to meet so many strangers. We got seen and the vet was really cool, told me to not let Tyson eat anymore bones and how to help him calm his stomach. They did x-rays and everything to make sure he was fine, and the vet actually sat down with me and went over the x-rays so I understood and was calmed by it. Really great people, and for being an emergency 24 hour clinic I was pretty impressed by all of the experience. Will definitely take my pets here in the event of an emergency in the future.

Our 8 year old dog was bitten during a walk by a s...

Our 8 year old dog was bitten during a walk by a stray and developed an abscess. We took her to the regular vet, and then MedVet, back to the regular, back to MedVet. Both of them kept missing additional areas that should have been drained and cleaned. This lead to necrosis (dying tissue, the most horrendous sight of your life). She ended up with an open wound with a pump to suction out any remaining infection for a few days and then another surgery ~5 days later to close up the wound. She was released the day after her surgery. All of the care we received at the facility was very good. I think they did their best and everyone was helpful and considerate during visiting hours. I'm not sure how culpable they are for missing all of the original infection, but overall, we were satisfied with the care. Follow-up calls were delivered about 70% of the time as promised. However, the release instructions were horrible. We were directed to give her 8 and a half pills, at 4 AM, 6 AM, 10 AM, 12 PM, 5 PM, 12 PM, 2 PM, 8 PM and 10 PM. For those of you who work, you are cringing and understand that this means severe sleep deprivation. On top of the schedule, keep in mind that you will possibly be forcing pills down the throat of a dog who starts clenching her teeth at the sight of the pill syringe. We also had to force feed her with a food syringe 8 times a day. My boyfriend and I are losing our minds. We have the good fortune that his mother can come and stay with us to help, but all we do is care for her. The worst part is that they told us it is quite common that she need further surgery to remove additional skin and then a later closing surgery again. This means we will need to go through the entire force-feed/pill schedule/wound cleaning/suction device-emptying/1,000 loads of laundry/journal-keeping/carrying outside to pee three times a day process all over AGAIN. Did I mention, our bill currently stands around $7,000? Not including medication and supplies. I do sincerely love my dog. She is a family member. But I believe in this case, the compassionate thing would have been for them to counsel us to euthanize her, which was never presented as an option. They never explained any of the challenges involved with her recovery. It was all, "Here's what we'd like to do." This situation is not fair to her (she is suffering) and it is sure as hell not fair to us. If anyone out there encounters this situation I would encourage you to think long and hard before agreeing to go down this road. Knowing what I know now, I absolutely would have chosen differently.

Our golden retriever, Woodstock, was not yet two years old when we noticed him limping and not bearing weight on his right hind leg. After a thorough examination, our primary veterinarian who is himself an expert in orthopedic surgery referred us to Dr. Matthew Barnhart at Med Vet.

We could not be more pleased with the care and attention Woodstock received from Dr. Barnhart and his team. Given Woodstock s age, our concern as pet parents was that he would not recover fully and experience years of pain. He was a young, active dog with a luxating patella and a partially-torn ACL. Instead, Dr. Barnhart s skill as a surgeon as well as his dedication to post-operative care has assured that Woodstock has made a full recovery. He is now able to walk, run, play, and enjoy life just as he did prior to his injury.

Of note is the personalized care Woodstock received while in his recovery stage. Detailed discharge instructions were given, allowing us to work on Woodstock s rehabilitation from home. Additionally, Dr. Barnhart was never more than an email or phone call away. On two separate occasions, we contacted Dr. Barnhart via email with a question. Both times he responded promptly and thoroughly, giving us peace of mind that Woodstock was recovering well.

We do not have children; we have Woodstock. Dr. Barnhart and the staff at Med Vet have assured that we will continue to have an active and happy dog for years to come. We cannot recommend Dr. Barnhart more highly.

Dr. Barnhart took care of our dog after he broke his leg. He had a complex fracture in his wrist that required surgery with placement of a plate as well as a bone graft. We had several weeks of recovery time with multiple visits. Dr. Barnhart was great and took the time to explain each step of his recovery. We also received excellent care from his staff - everyone from the front desk staff to the surgery nurses and surgery residents was kind, patient, and always greeted our dog with enthusiasm. They were transparent about the cost, and I felt the cost of care was reasonable considering the extent of the injury. Most importantly, our dog had a great recovery, is functional and doesn't appear to have to have any lasting pain. I would recommend Dr. Barnhart for any ortho needs that you may have.

Had to wait 3 hours for some antibiotics for a upper respiratory infection for our kitten. Staff and Doctor were nice but the amount of time it took get the medication was ridiculous. Unless your pet is in serious condition, it would be better to wait out the weekend to see your normal vet to receive medication rather than waste your time in a waiting room for several hours. Additionally, make sure they review all documentation before prescribing medication. The doctor did not look at the medicine that was already prescribed to our cat even though we brought in the documentation for it and ended up duplicating the medication we already had. They referred to the active ingredient rather than the brand of medication. We did not realize this until we got home and saw the new medication was the same brand but different application (powder vs. gel). Please make sure the doctor really reads through any paperwork that you bring otherwise you will ended up paying double for medication. Unless your pet is in for a real emergency do not use MedVet.

Please Save your animal and do not go here. Your animal will be better off not receiving any treatment at all even if they were just hit by a car. They wanted to charge us $4200 (not a typo) for an MRI. They take advantage of people who love their pets and after we turned down the $4200 MRI they charged us $340 for 4 prescriptions which they prescribed without even knowing whats wrong with him! went to a different place got the MRI done for $3000 less! Our puppy after being treated at the other clinic is now fine.

Not a great experience - old dog couldn't walk to get out of our car. ER tech wouldn't let me carry her back as it is "against their policy". My dog is far more comfortable with me carrying her. I'll avoid going forward and find another option.

We were a past client of Medvet, and had no complaints until our older dog took a turn for the worse on a Saturday afternoon. By Sunday morning it was apparent he was suffering a great deal and struggling to breathe, I called Medvet to ask about having him put to sleep, an option we had discussed with his regular vet but were trying to avoid. Medvets wanted $188.00 for the service, his regular vet charges $30.00. I understand they are an emergency service and we were paying for the availabilty of services 24/7. However to charge more than 6 times the price of another vet goes beyond paying for extra service and seems more like taking advantage of a person already in a difficult situation. The OSU Veterinary clinic performed the service for $ 111.00 still quite a bit more than my vet but a reasonable charge for emergecy service. I highly reccomend OSU for your emergency veterinary needs.

10/10 - Would recommend to EVERYONE! Excellent staff and service. Could not ask for more!

We found that our cat died unexpectedly at midnight on July 4th. We were shocked, devastated, and at a loss for what to do. We googled vet hospitals and they were the only ones open near us. Even though we had never been to it before, when we arrived they treated us with great compassion and sympathy as if they had experienced the loss with us. I can't express how grateful I was to have a warm and caring intake staff to greet us in our time of grief. They took care of us quickly and efficiently while allowing us time to cry. They gave us the option to receive a paw print in the mail which I accepted. They sent us the paw print on a lovely durable cardstock with her name at the bottom the very next business day. In the envelop was also a card with a handwritten note of sympathy, a beautiful poem, and suggested resources for help with loss. It was a lovely gesture.

On top of everything being handled perfectly in terms of bedside manner, the clinic was also affordable. We paid $60 for the cremation of our cat, and there was no charge for the card with the paw print and card. We would've paid more than double the price in our circumstance.

To the MedVet Staff: Thank you for being there for us and making this loss of our dear friend a little easier to handle. Your help has been priceless.

Wanted to charge me $2K+ to do tests on an obviously dying 18 yr old cat with multiple known degenerative diseases. When I asked what else we can do, because shes old and obviously dying, they gave me a pamphlet to open a line of credit and said "Don't you care about your cat?" I refused treatment and it took them 45 minutes to discharge my cat, which they never treated for anything (why did they even take her in the back?), despite an empty waiting room. They charged me $165 for doing nothing for her. Rascals Animal Hospital saw my kitty fast, did a blood test, gave her a steroid shot and fluids to help her feel better so she could make it to business hours to see her regular vet. They charged me $165 total, took care of her and let her stay with me. Only go to MedVet if you want to torture your pet and part with all your money.

Called in today because my dog had managed to eat some chocolate. I was very concerned about the amount and the risk to her health. I spoke to two staff members who were very courteous and did an over the phone screen. The man I spoke to (a tech or assistant) completed the screening and was very understanding and kind. I was so worried and his patience and explanations were very helpful. He talked me through the risks and signs I needed to look out for and gave me a time frame for monitoring. If I ever do need emergency care I know where I will be taking my baby. Thank you for the excellent service.

Edit: several months later my dog ate some gum with xylitol. She spent a few scary days at Medvet but recovered well. It wasn't cheap (like an ER visit with no insurance) but my dog survived when she could have died. They saved her life and tolerated my daily worried calls.

My beloved Doberman needed spinal surgery in neck ...

My beloved Doberman needed spinal surgery in neck & Med Vet doctors performed the surgery and my boy has been in recovery now. Learning to use his legs again, working with Physical Therapy.

Everything has been pretty great with one standout exception, The lights in the pooch recovery room are on 24hour High Beams. This atmosphere in no way helpes to reduce the canine/feline patients anxiety. In fact, it adds Anxiety. There is never any night night time for these patients. My dog always would bark when he thot it was lights out time at home and now he's just Blinded by the lights on HIGH BEAM in recovery which, for my pooch, is creating an anxiety lever that Blue has never experienced before. Its a well known fact that our bodies heal whilst they are sleeping. Would it be to difficult to put a dimmer on the switches or install some track lighting along the floor? Please, Please, put in a dimmer switch at Least to provide the atmosphere that IS conducive to HEALING & Lessons ANXIETY which I am seeing in my dog, and I am observing this in the other patients also. Its hard enough for these patients to be away from their families & wondering what in the world just happened to them. Dimming the lights &playing some classical music at night will go Far to reduce patient anxiety & therefor actually promote Healing. Everything has been great except the constant high beam lights that never go out. So for this reason, I am going to rate you 2 stars. just please Turn out the lights in Recovery & then I am happy to rate you 4 -5 stars. My review is based soly on the lighting issue. Its upsetting & anxiety inducing. Please turn Lights out at night for these already stressed patients. Everyone will thank you. The rest of care is very good. The lights are a BIG issue for this family & my dog.

Went to MedVet -Worthington from out of state with my golden for OFA hip xrays. The staff stated they completed the testing on a regular basis. Staff reported xrays looked good but OFA failed one hip for subluxation. Sent xray for second opinion who states his hips look great that dog was positioned incorrectly for film. So sedated my dog for no reason and paid over $500 just to need to repeat films and pay it again. Of course - no refunds for MedVet's mistake available. I won't be returning.

Came in late last night with 3 dogs on an emergency (ate a bag of coffee beans but we didn t know which dog) . They were able to start treatment right away and helped us determine that the third dog likely didn t ingest any and didn t need treatment. The vet and the tech were so friendly and seemed to really care about our dogs. They even called this morning to follow up with us. So far everybody is doing well. They are angels.

I took my dog here after he was recovering very poorly from a surgery done by another vet. He was weak skinny and looked terrible. He was seen by a local vet of mine who suggested MedVet as they were the best staffed for this. He had unusual swelling bruising and an incision that was coming open. It was awful!!. Medvet wasn t cheap but honestly when we got our dog back he was brand new again. They cleaned him up of all the blood he had been leaking and he just looks amazing. I got updates regularly and they didn t do tests they initially recommended when they realized they weren t necessary. Dr Dudley was great at explaining everything and taking time to talk to me for several minutes and answer all of my questions. He looked like he gained his weight back in the two days they had him. And he just looks so good I was floored. His bruising was almost gone the swelling had become minimal and they added more stitches to the incision that was opening. He isn t bleeding at all anymore. He s eating again. I m so happy. My dog is my everything. Thank you MedVet for saving my boy.

People complain about the emergency pricing here, but it's like a human ER - seeing a specialist at 2 AM is going to cost you more than going to your regular doctor at 1 in the afternoon. I'm glad they're there. When my cat had an emergency Christmas eve at midnight, and needed surgery the following day, I was so grateful they were there to help. Everyone was kind, they got to my cat quickly despite being pretty crowded, and my cat got the care he needed. They saved his life. You can't put a price on that.

MedVet Columbus is AMAZING! I brought my dog to this location for an emergency two days in a row and could not be more pleased with my experience here. The staff was extremely kind and attentive. They thoroughly explained his condition, gave us several treatment options, treated us with the utmost respect and most importantly helped my pooch get on the road to recovery at a speedy rate. They have continued to help us with any questions, comments and concerns we've had. I can't even begin to express how grateful I am for the staff at MedVet. Thank you so much for helping my beloved Mason! You guys are INCREDIBLE! I would recommend this location to anyone

Took my dog there in the middle of the night last week. After taking Xrays, they determined she had a blockage and needed emergency surgery. They wanted $5,000 at the time of service, and because I couldn't afford that, they released her to go home. Upon carrying my dog out of the room, the staff member picked her up AROUND her stomach (which had the blockage,) and put her in my car. By the time I got her to another vet in the morning she was no longer stable enough for surgery. The reason being? Internal bleeding. Less than 12 hours after being seen by Medvet my dog was dead, from something that could have been treated. This place seems to be all about making money, and they couldn't care less about turning away a sick animal if the owner isn't rich enough. I don't know many people that have an extra $5,000 they can drop on the spot, so it makes me wonder how many animals get sent home to suffer and die. Hopefully I never have another emergency in the middle of the night, because unfortunately this is about the only option within 150 miles of where I live.

Our dog had parvovirus we were given three prescriptions to help him we totaled his daily does of medication to 874mg a day our dog pasted away today due to an overdose he was only 4.6 months old

Hey was on

Maropitant 24mg 1 tablets orally 1 time daily for 3 days
Started on Monday
Amoxicillin 200mg 1 tablets orally 3 times daily for 5 days
Started in the morning
Metronidazole 250mg 1/2 tablets orally 2 times daily for 7 days
Started when we got home from vet

I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. We lost a Siberian husky puppy our friend our family member. Akc registered pure bred. Very upset at our lose and very disappointed in the care he was given.
Let alone they didn t send him home with a saline bag for fluids and had to call our vet in town for one and they them selves were shocked at how much our baby was given for the dosage for his age and the fact they didn t send us home with fluids

My two year old West Highland White Terrier had a horrible skin infection and rash covering her entire back. For 3 months with two different local vets trying to fix the issue, I had no luck. I took her to MedVet Columbus and in 15 minutes they had a diagnosis of demodex mites with a staph infection and treatment plan that helped immediately. Her rash was gone within days!!! I was able to make an appointment without a referral but had my vet send the referral and her chart at a later date. I live 3+ hours away, but I will definately use MedVet for all my major veterinary needs! Best by far!!!!

They took great lengths of time to explain everything to me, and broke down all the details of what was happening and discussed potential costs of treatment. It is expensive but I know my cat is in great care and they insisted I call at any time of the night if I wanted to check up on her as she is staying there overnight.

People are decently nice. But you can definitely tell there all about there money. They will not go above and beyond to help you or freebie nothing (don't expect it but little things help after spending over 3 grand) they basically gave my dog back in a great amount of pain, why they didn't inject a steroid shot or whatnot while his inflammation was crazy in his spine is beyond me. He cried and whimpered the whole way home till the medication we gave him kicked in. They never explained what to do or what not to do when it comes to movement walking or anything like that. Overall. I guess if it's an emergency, sure take them but you might need to borrow someone else's check book too.

My experiences with MedVet Columbus have been outstanding. I live about 3 hours away, so it's a bit of a drive, but worth every mile and minute it takes it get there. I first took my dog to MedVet in October 2017 with a very serious medical issue. He was not expected to survive. Dr. Fulton and other folks with internal medicine have helped turn his life around. One year later, he's now in a period of remission with his disease and I am so thankful to have my best friend by my side!

If you care about your pet please for god sake do not take them here. I a business professional and I know about business ethics and quite frankly I would not be surprised if they have not been sued for Emotional Manipulation. Ill tell you about my dog Achilles long story short he slipped a disk and became paralyzed from the waist down.. When arriving to the hospital they were pushy and told that surgery was needed right away. Its not till I had my best friend show up that a lawyer that they seemed to be less pushy into the immediate surgery..... hmmmmm weird.

2 Days later went into surgery. Came out still not walking. They recommended PT for the dog at a ridiculous price per day. I will have to say after a week they cut down the cost a little. But it was still over 100 bucks a day. So 8 weeks go by still not walking. Comes time to make a decision. I choose to put my baby boy down weds. Monday we give him a great meal. I get cards and then a buddy of mine Doctor David Ryan in chiropractic care gives me a call and wants to try re adjusting him. I agree Tuesday morning and then weds comes and in the morning my dog is chasing his chew toy with all four legs.

They had me paying for 8 weeks PT and did not even suggest or attempt to adjust the dog?
Then after that nerve they ask for the bill to be paid in full when I was paying on a weekly basis.

I wish the company nothing but the worst and hope that some client with more time gets the chance to pursue a lawsuit and take down this business ethical nightmare of a company.

I took my ailing cat in to be examined last Thursday. The staff were more experienced at raising the credit limit for my Care Credit card than they were at figuring out what was wrong with my cat.
They ran a multitude of tests which emptied my pocket of approximately $1300.00 and as 'specialists', they STILL could not figure out what was wrong.
In the 24 hours that she was under their care, she was NOT seen by a specialist. It was a question of extending her stay, hence, the expenses before she could be seen by a 'specialist'.
When the medical reports and test results were sent to her original vets, they made MUCH more sense of the data and were able to come up with a much more effective plan to support her condition.
Medvet is more experienced with 'financing treatment' than it is applying treatment, and for a medical institution, that DISGUSTS me!

That's why they take the time to educate clients about their pet's condition or illness so they can make informed decisions about their pet's health.

MedVet also works closely with referring veterinarians across the country. They understand that many pets require ongoing medical treatment after leaving their facility; therefore they collaborate with primary veterinarians who continue caring for these patients after discharge from hospitalization.

The company has multiple locations throughout different states in America which makes it easy for clients seeking specialized veterinary services without having travel long distances or wait long periods before receiving treatment.

In conclusion: If you're looking for high-quality emergency or specialty veterinary care services anywhere within America then look no further than Medvet! With its experienced staff members who are dedicated towards providing compassionate yet effective treatments using advanced technology & equipment coupled with an emphasis on client education - this clinic truly stands out among others as one worth considering when seeking help for your beloved furry friend(s).
