Everyone was pleasant and helpful to me. I do think some nurses need to watch how they practice sterile technique. I witnessed someone dropping a syringe in the wrapper on the floor. It was picked up, opened and used on me to rinse a leg wound. The nurse didn't wash her hands after picking the syringe from the floor. What a good way to introduce bacteria into an immunocompromised patient.

Dont have your baby here at Franklin square hospital they are the worst!!! The staff were terrible the security office was rude and would not let me sit in the lobby for my ride and threaten me . The nurse didn't do their job i was the the cna and caregiver for my sister. the night shift is lazy and doesn't have much experiences and didnt do their rounds!!
Theeeee worst hospital I've ever been in !!! Came in at 2 pm. discharged at 5 am. No medication nothing !!! Chf , Afib stage 3 kidney disease and the list goes on ... Horrible !!! If you can help it don't come here go to Bayview 20 times better !!! The doctors care they aren't racist and they try hard to get you in and out with care ...
If I could give 0 stars I would. This has been the worst hospital staff service I have ever seen. No organization, lack of service to the patients and no regard for priority injuries.
ER-long waiting hours. when I checked with the stuff they told me there are two people before me. then they kept calling people. now it has been four people. I don't know when it will me my turn. horriable attitude. they don't care about how you feel. it has been 11:30pm and I don't know how long it will take.
My father was hospitalized here and now 3 years later I can not even drive by this disgraceful death hotel. Now, it's a 5-star hotel for sure but like the Hotel California you can check in anytime .. but you can never leave. I flew in after my father had a heart attach. I was told he was brain dead/there was no brain activity. Now some 36 hours after the event while speaking to the sole doctor on the entire ICU who came for his daily 60 second visit advised me that there had been no cat scan and he simply assumed that there was no brain activity because it was ''not typical.'' I demanded he be seen by a neurologist. The neurologist came the following day..about 18 hours later insisting he had just been called. He later said that there was no indication that there was any permanent loss of brain activity. ( Initially a resident came to read the cat scan and started by saying ''I don't really know how to read a cat scan so I'll do my best.'' At least there were residents..and nurses..there was one lone doctor who was about as present as Santa Claus in the ward. Let me tell you nothing like the hospital shows you see on TV. Nobody giving a damn.) We were told that still with brain activity there was nothing that the hospital could do aside from a very experimental treatment could be performed the following day. The doctor however did not support this saying it was pointless so I called other hospitals to find one that would and agreed to accept his transfer. The doctor was very upset and called the hospital and tried to dissuade them from accepting him. Ultimately he said said something like ''it's up to you, you'll pay for the ambulance to take him there.'' Unfortunately my father developed a hospital born bacterial infection which caused his liver and kidneys to begin to shut down over that night before the transfer could happen. ''Clergy people'' of various faiths all came to tell us how ok is to die and had absolutely none of the beliefs of traditional clergy of any or almost any of the faiths they represented. My father was later removed from life support. The hospital brought a basket with chips and soda while he was dying as if we were at a movie theater. The hospital had lied and said that we had a choice to make - if we did not remove him from life support at that point they would permanently install the life support device in him and it could never be removed meaning he could live in a vegetative state for decades, the rest of his natural lives. We later found at that the timeline they provided us to make this decision was incorrect and much rushed. As far as I am concerned Franklin Square had an active part in assuring my father's death and there was a pro-death culture there. The clergy supported it, the doctors and nurse made 60 something sound like a long life lived. If you have an option, any option to go somewhere else..do it.
Very bad experience I gave two stars(they deserve 5 stars alone) for the few good nurses that were a blessing and in my opinion helped keep my mother alive (Joy) being one in particular and Mya on the 5th floor. KC was a evil nurse that had no patience for a elderly person screaming out in pain. The Doctors have no compassion and just want to count an elderly person off as a lost cause. They take no responsibility for their mistakes. They immediately wanted hospice for my mom that came in with seizures. Told me she wouldn t live three days because of her condition. She s still living but I m so much pain from bed sores and in infection. Vitals are still on point without machines. She does a have a small feeding tube for nutrition. The residents run the hospital and charge nurses are oblivious to what s going on in those hospital beds filled with patients. Some are still studying for school to further their position and stay in their computers. The higher the position the more evil they are as if they could never see themselves or loved ones in a bad health position...I could go on but I m not
Spent 10.5 hours in the ED without any speaking with us about our family member. Staff seemed to be uncaring and very stressed. Did not see the doctor until midnight and we got there at 1:30 p.m. He was as bad as the rest off the staff, acted like he was just "fed up". Would never go there again if I had a choice. Family member was finally admitted.
The worse hospital I have ever been to. Long waiting times. Poor customer service from nurses and doctors. Terrible!!!! Went there with my cousin who had severe back pain and was basically told her condition does not warrant the ER. They did a bladder test with a dip stick, gave her pain killers and sent her home. She had to go to te doctor the following day and is now undergoing a series of tests. This was after a 8 hour wait. Only go here if you are bleeding to death. Terrible place!!!!!!
Please do not use this hospital. This hospital is the most sued in the state. The doctors do not care. The staff is incapable of doing their job. The lack of concern is unbelievable. My grandmother died as a result of incompetent doctors and staff.
How could you believe I spent 16 hours at the ER with my patient vomiting blood and dehydrated? when she had surgery at the same hospital 2 weeks before. And once we asked to leave without no apologies or any kind advice, we just had to sign had to sign the paper and that was it.
I used to live less than 20 minutes from this hospital for 43 years and it never was a quality facility. It has become worse as years have gone by. My father had terrible care there back in the early 90s until he passed away and my mother had some of the worse care I have ever witnessed until she passed in 2013. An ambulance always would take us to Franklin Square being the closest proximity to us and convenience. I also have had poor experiences there with Doctors and staff multiple times. The ER is an absolute disaster and the wait times are unacceptable and inappropriate. I had my mom there countless times with her illness and they would send her home same day with a bogus diagnosis until one night I almost got into a fight with the staff to admit my mother to find out her deteriorating condition. Finally found out afterwards she was in final stage 4 cancer. She died 3.5 months later after fooling with this place almost a year. I hope this review helps others to stay clear of this place. If you have anybody you care about do not seek care at this hospital. Dont just take my story just look at their other endless terrible reviews.
Is better to die than to come to the emergency room. No matter what the emergency is or if you come in an ambulance, drive or walk here. You will have to wait at least 6 hours to be seen. Been here since 3 P.M. came in an ambulance die to car accident and still sitting in the waiting room. Its 11:24 P.M.
Here is an update. I was contacted by someone a few days after this review. I was told that someone would get in contact with me soon... all I received was a letter in the mail telling me that someone would be in contact with me. No one has. I don't want anyone to get in contact with me at this point. All I want, and I'm sure I speak for others, is for the hospital to fix the problem in the ER. I know that some people go there for a fix, looking to get high or to have a place to sleep. But there's many of us that go bc we have real emergencies. We shouldn't have to pay the consequences of that and on top be insulted by some of the patients the frequent the ER. Staff should be trained to recognize frequent flyers and treat the emergencies as such. It does not matter if you come in by car or ambulance, the wait time I'd horrible. The emergency room was way better and faster when it was on the other side of the hospital. Medstar has great physicians, but when it comes to the ER facilities they get 0.
Rude nurses, lack of PA's at the ER room. While they have patients waiting, these PA's and nurses are talking and having conversations. What kind of hospital is this? No wonder it has 2 stars.
In order to leave a comment, I had to at least select 1 star. Customer Service is not displayed within Patient Services for case management resources. Very unpleasant, unprofessional and unproductive.
If I had the time, I would have called the person's manager although she said that she was one.
We just Left franklin square hospital due to lack of customer service.. we waited in the room for 3 hours, the freaking doc didn't show up. I afked the nurse if I could have a glass of water for the patient, she said, " sorry I'm busy." I suggest that no one dhoush visit franklin square hospital, since the staff don't really care about The patients. They deserve 0 star
Got here at 6:55pm. I told the PA why I was here. She sent me for an x-ray. I was never seen again. Being up at 4:30am, nothing to eat all day and being tired sent my anxiety up, the pain in my foot got worse because I couldn't put it up, just had to keep it on the floor. The people I did deal with were nice. I can't even tell if a Dr was here I haven't seen one. I had to leave this place. After 5 hours of sitting on the most uncomfortable chairs, my back hurts. No food in my stomach all day and now a migraine. This place is the worst.
I willl say thank you God and the doctors and nurses in this hospital they treated me like king God bless you all if you wanna be treated good must treat good also
This is the 1st time I've been in Franklin Squares ER. I was brought here after suffering from severe issues throwing up bile and terrible issues with my digestive system. I've been here since about 8:30p.m. I was given fluid. I suffer with Epileptic seizures and let several nurses know I have to take my TIME RELEASED MEDS AT 9:30 pm. Or I will suffer with a seizure. It upset me when one after another told me "No, sorry we can't do that the Dr. Has to see you 1st" they lack a level of Common Sense and Patient concern. The PA came in and she allowed it after I begged. Other than that , my blood was drawn right away when I was brought back and it's still sitting on the table next to me. Wyd draw it if no testing is being done! No doctor yet. This is the worst experience I've had at a hospital... I had to listen to staff members outside the room talk loud and ghetto about thier lives, work, appetites ect. I will go to John's Hopkins where my Dr. Is next time! Staff issues are great in this place. Changes need to be made.
Always quick in and quick out when we have legit emergencies. Very easy to look past the pain med seekers and the folks who don't have insurance and are in for some BS reason. Or cold, stomach bug, ext.
My aunt arrived via ambo @3-4 o'clock this afternoon. She already been admitted; however, it is now 1155pm & we are still in the ER. The doctors and attending a are very nice. It's the nursing staff that is a cold bunch. They talk at you not to you. I just watched 1 nurse eat his food with his hands in the middle of the ER. There was food and crumbs falling all on the floor. My aunt's IV pump started alarming and there they sat. He was standing right over another nurse still eating-- food steadily falling on the floor. He looked at me with a mouth full of food saying, "I'll be in...". What!!!?!? After you finish stuffing your face!?!?! This is so wrong and so disgusting. The other nurse is just not a nice person altogether.... My aunt is in end stage renal failure. She doesn't deserve this.
ALL of the staff in the ER were EXTREMELY kind and pleasant. To all of those who complain about the long wait, do me a favor, google all ER's in your city and you will see that all of the waits are about the same. You people want care, but then complain when you have to wait. Please do not demand instant gratification when it comes to your health. The ER is a health system, not a take out spot. Labs have to be read after blood is drawn, etc. Anyways, My Triage nurse Sam, My male nurse after triage, My ER nurse Michelle, and my ER doc gave me the best care that I have ever received. Also, my transporters and radiology staff were extremely kind as well. Tanya from registration was so kind to me. I walked in scared for my life, but all of you turned my day around. Thank you. As a Healthcare Administrator and former MedStar Health employee, FSH, your patient satisfaction surpasses most.
On September 9th... Avoid the Emergency room at Medstar Franklin Square in Rosedale if possible. This was the worst hospital experience that I encountered in my life. Poor customer service, bad admitting process, short staffed, etc. My wait was unneccesarily long. Lack of communication. After waiting for over 5 hours to go back to a room, I was informed that there is a shift change and that the doctor will see me last..
Also, when I finally arrived in my room in er, the sheets were dirty with hair on them. The tech when into the closet and they were dirty as well. Smh
After getting settled into the er examination room. I was left in the room with no further communication from staff for over 45 minutes. I walked out to the nurse desk to ask for assistance. My nurse walked up and appologized and asked if I needed anything. I explained that I have been in the er for over 6 hours and how long before I see a doctor. She told me that there is only 1 doctor and there is currently a shift change. I waited for about an another hour and than requested the charge nurse. The charge nurse told me that I could leave and go to my primary care doctor next week.
THEREFORE, AFTER 12 HOURS IN THE ER, I NEVER SAW A MEDICAL DOCTOR.
I came in to be seen at franklin square since 6:00pm and was in the hospital until 2 in the morning. I was seen twice each time and in between that time I was seen about an hour each. I left at 2am with no results as I m pregnant and had not eaten since I been in the ER and was told I can get my results online. I called in the morning because I didn t understand the portal and they told me everything was fine which was great. But I would ve still been sitting down had I not asked if I could call for results nor was I properly discharged, S.N. I asked on multiple occasions how much longer respectfully and was told that I was up next... that was 4 hours before I left. Why have me wait all that time and wait until I ask in order for me to be told I can just call in for results. In addition to that I sat down for about 6 hours with an IV in my arm that really had no reason to be there. The doctors that I see affiliated with Franklin are great but I will not be going to franklin square s ER after giving birth. I won t go to this hospital for this reason alone. There are closer hospitals. I guess for good customer service and speedy you have to be belligerent and cursing about wait time in order to get attention that s what I ve witnessed as I sat in the waiting room all that time.
My son was taken by ambulance to Franklin Square Monday morning in horrible pain in his left side and vomiting. They left him for over an hour before even seeing triage. Long story short. Is in St.Joe's getting great care his kidney was in stress and only functioning half. Admitted and going for kidney procedure. Franklin Square left him for hours in such pain. Inhuman. Never ever go there again.
Terrible experience I've had goo and ba d but this is too much when the staff says to you theirs other hospitals being here for respiratory 2.5 he. To get a treatment. I'm done . It will be another beware. Not a good health faculty.
Came in with asthma attack at 8:30am. Still sitting in the waiting room while using my albuterol inhaler. That is not helping. So disappointed. Should have went to urgent care.
I don t know where to start with this place. 6+ hours to get results on an X-ray for a visible hand and wrist injury. I never even got 1 update during the time. If you suspect anything is broken or sprained just go to Patient First or an Urgent Care.
Went to get a biopsy from my spinal cord, the staff was just a joy to have in a moment that I was scared and confused. I remember the name of Patty and Mrs. D, but all the ladies at the area of prep and recovery around imaging are just great people to have around you when you really feel a little scared of the process, the Dr's and nurses are just amazing you feel safe from the moment you make contact with them. They really rock, thank you guys xoxo
Went to the emergency room with a gall bladder attack which I ended up needing surgery for, and waited 9 hours. You are no longer a person. They don't call you by your name, they call you by a number. Lousy customer service.
We are new to this area ,I had to go to the ER and my hubby had a sleep study test done at Sleep Center ,Er visit was prompt ,the staff was excellent,The Dr was rude, very nasty attitude ,I was kept overnight for observations ,the nurses on the floor was OK but I wouldn't give them a happy dance. Now my hubby experience with the Sleep Center ,the ones whom did the test was excellent,The staff that sets up your CPAP .was unprofessional, never returned my calls ,Now mu hubby was diagnosed with SEVERE OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA ,and a very enlarge heart ,That was a month ago ,still no machine .so I took it upon myself and got everything on its way ,our insurance Company was notified by me ,VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICES
Quite possibly the worst ER in the state. I grew up in Scotland where you don't pay a penny for treatment and there is no more than a 4 hour wait yet here where we pay HUNDREDS a MONTH the wait is outrageous. Franklin Square ER has no one cleaning the emergency room so it is filthy and no one emptying trash in fact you are pretty much forgotten about . We were there a month ago and waited 17 hours to see a DR. My husband was there yesterday and waited 17 hours and had to LEAVE because, guess what Franklin square, people have children and families and responsibilities (kind of like your responsibility to give patients quick and effective treatment) . They won't release YOUR medical records to YOU to take to another ER or dr right there. They won't update you on the wait times either and when you ask they will just add a couple hours onto whatever time it is to cover their own arses. Oh but you will still bill my insurance and send us a bill for co-pays. 17 hours waiting around and less than an hour spent with an actual dr & taking tests. I know they will say they were just 'swamped' and it's funny because 3 weeks ago they just happened to be swamped as well. No, 17 hours is a normal day for this sad excuse for an ER. They had to retake everybody's blood because the blood they took 3 hours ago had gone stale. Unbelievable.
If I could leave 0 stars I would, my daughter arrived there by ambulance and when she arrived she was sat in a hallway for over 40 minutes. During the time of the arrival the lights went off, their system was also down. The doctors was very nasty and careless as well. When I told them I was taking my child to another hospital they told me I couldn t sit in the hospital and wait for my ride, I would have to sit by the sliding doors and wait. This was by far the worst emergency visit ever!!!!
This is the worst Hospital in the world came in with stomach pain and I'm leaving with stomach pain I wasn't giving a perscription for pain medicine, after having a CT Scan the doctor/nurse didn't even know how to explain the results he kept saying we see in the CT Scan that I had surgery before on my stomach but couldn't tell me what was causing my pain I spent 8 hours in here for absolutely nothing waste my time now it's 12:35a.m just leaving been here since 4p.m.
They never do any treatment for waiting patients at ER - even 10 grade pain. my wife waited for 5 hour with 10 pain- childbirth pain(kidney stone) . She could not sit because of the pain. She cried and begged them to do something but they unkindly answered "I am sorry, we can't help you nothing". She could not help it, she had to leave and took pain killer at home and went to another hospital. That was most horrible experience in her whole life. Is that hospital? or Hell?
Not a very good hospital. My grandmother was able to sit up and move her legs freely when she first got admitted. They didn't allow her to move around all she needed was some assistance. Which lead her to be pretty much unable to move at all by the time she was discharged. I don't think that is how it should have went. She should of been allowed to walk with assistance so that she didn't get to the point that she ended up at the end.
On Thursday a.m. my mother suffered a bout of CHF. It was bad enough that I called 911 and they brought us to Franklin Square. I noticed that the review was only 2.1, but our experience has been 5 star all the way. The ER had qualified reception with eager smiles and great security. Kristen was great in Transport. When we got to the 4th floor (room 4140), Connie, our nurse, was efficient and welcoming. The techs were all great. Precious made us laugh while doing a finger stick. I-Win was most notable too. Armani in housekeeping is a true ambassador of patient care and comfort. She was lively and had a smile the entire time she was servicing the room. In 24 hours, we are totally impressed with the medical care and kindness of Franklin Square Hospital!
Any other time that I had to go here, it was always a pleasant and professional experience. This last time I went, I was in 10+pain with no relief. It was 2 AM and I was having severe abdominal pain, I was registered and triaged. Then I was sat back into the waiting area. 2 hours later I still had not been taken to a room. There were people in the waiting area that had been there since the morning before! After waiting an additional 2 hours I couldn t sit up any long, I left. There was nothing going on in the back, patients were everywhere and you would have thought they were casualties of war the way they were strewn around the halls and such. No one could get any answers, people half dead, projectile vomiting etc. As I was leaving I heard another woman say that she had been waiting since 8 AM the day before!! Something needs to be done! Please do not apologize for the behavior because clearly nothing is being done. I have only seen this type of madness one other time at another hospital. It s sad and sickening!!! ADMINISTRATORS, DO SOMETHING!!!
My THROAT IS SWOLLEN. I can't even close my mouth and I'm still sitting in the waiting room. And everyone talks to you like your on welfare and beneath them. I'm upset!!!!
I originally gave 1 star due to the way I was treated when I arrived to Franklin square. I wanted to give a 2nd review but I'm not sure how. Anyway once I was finally called to the back and the PA looked at my throat they began to take it very serious. Franklin square ran every test possible to attempt to figure out the issue. They're also keeping me over night to make sure the swelling goes down. I'm truly grateful to say the least.
Terrible hospital! Discharge patients that are in crisis. Triage in the waiting room of the ER...MedStar is the worst, too bad this is the closest hospital...I would rather be treated by my pet's vet!
Worst er ever I went there for asthma attack and I couldn't breathe they made me wait in er till I left and when I got to mercy my oxygen levels were 17 and I was admitted thank god for mercy or I might not have been alive today
Poor and I do mean Poor .. Got. Here at 4:30pm and its now 10:30pm. . Have not seen a Doctor yet. l have given Blood . had a ekg and and a breathing treatment. To only be sent back to the waiting room . Poor . Still in pain and still feeling bad.. I want to leave so bad.. But I have a Iv port in my Arm.. This sucks... Im so very unhappy Now its 12:25 am .. Lady. Just passed out .. This pleace is not fit to be open
My experience was okay. I had a endospy and it was my first time having anesthesia the nurses eased my worries. The nursing staff was very friendly and helpful.
Really sucks came in at 730 am ok I got hurried to get chest xrays done and an ultra sound and yet it's 203 pm still sitting here and nurse at check in desk very nice tells me I'm high proarty but here I am still sitting I didn't even want come here but couldn't hold out till Fri cause my breathing is hard if I had money I would gone to patients first and yes I git insurance good one at that but yet I sit watching a girl rub her self alarms going off a lady screaming more alarms yup a least get entertainment while wating
Smmfh.... this is the worst hospital ever been in pain for at least six hours and still have not seen a doctor! If your in pain or sick this is not the hospital you go to!
I almost died infront of the emergency room, I had trouble breathing and was brought by the ambulance to the er, the checked my ekg and brought me out pending when the 7hr awaited doctor I started having serious pulmonary problem I told them I could not breath to my greatest surprise the thought I was faking it, for the first time in my life I gave up, told my dad "where my belongings are gave him my bank card told him who my next of kin was" thank God am still living today, even the nurse Manger came out and told me that she will send me out if I continue requesting, never go to FSH if you are your situation is similar. I stand with this statement and will defend it at anytime.
I've been here 6 hours from Kaiser with an ambulance and no attention from any of the staff members. I needed to use the bathroom, I asked 5 different nurses for assistance because I felt dizzy to no avail. Kyle felt for me after 50minutes and helped to the ladies. It is such a shame for that place to be call hospital. The nurses are expected to care but in this place, they simply dont and there is no shame about it there. They all need to be retrained from the head nurse in the ER.
This was the worst experience i have ever had in my life. I was laughed at because i wamted a hiv test..like ppl cant ask for one of those in the ER. The P.A had a very nasty demenor. I was there from 430pm to 12 am for a UTI I told the. I knew i had. They asked me if i wanted tho leave after waiting 5 hrs..i said no i don't cats if im here til tomorrow i just want the proper care. This plave has no integrity no sensitivity. It wasnt even that many ppl ..average for a er..like 20ppl when i went in..like 40 when i finally left..if tht many. I wouldn't goi back here if it was the last hospital on earth.
My daughter had her baby there yesterday, the nurses were outstanding especially her main nurse not sure what her name is but we were very pleased!! She had him in room 107 at 2:55 .
My girlfriend and I are currently still in the middle of a horrible experience here. Starting with an emergency room visit, which I've reviewed separately. The innefficiency of the ER is frightening. No common sense applied to prioritizing patients, and an apparrent lack of regard for my girlfriend's pain and suffering. Since then, communiation has been nonexistent, as we have satt through delay after delay with no explanations. I understand that no organization is perfect, but when aa patien, potentially facing surgery, encounters issue after issue, it is horrifying to think about submitting to a potentially life threatening procedure in such a place.
They all gave my husband and I mal practice while we were there! I'm pregnant, and the jackass doctor pushed on my stomach so hard he could have caused a miscarriage!
Me and my child were told to come here as my child had got bit by a stray dog and her hand was swollen and infected we have been and still currently are waiting after 7 hours and have still not seen a doctor the absolute worst thing they had ever done was get rid of the pediatric wing I used to have a very compassionate and caring experience here but I can honestly say that is no longer the case ! When you have a special needs child and are told pretty much just wait and sorry they don't know what to tell you and have no clue how much longer you will be waiting is ridiculous almost 230 am and my child has yet to be seen ! Sad very sad !
Honestly the worse hospital you can go to in Baltimore. Dr treated my child so bad I had to leave in the middle of being serviced because I refused to have my kid treated so horrible.
[Written on July 21, 2013]My experience occurred earlier this year, mid January 2013. I was miscarrying, bleeding uncontrollably, in pain, coming to the ER and they still made me wait to be seen. WHAT!!! I couldn't even sit in the waiting room chairs. I could not believe how insincere the staff was. There was no order. When I finally get back in one of the exam rooms, the doctor was okay, she actually spoke with professionalism. My family came to the ER, they even said, "The ER staff is pretty rude". Then when it was time to be discharged and they did discharge me a couple of hours after doing an ultrasound, and giving me pain medication, they didn't even offer a wheel chair or any assistance. The nurse or doctor didn't offer any towels/wash cloths, wipes or even a wet paper towel to freshen up (mind you I had just been bleeding uncontrollably, thank goodness I had on black pants at the time). My mother even said, "That's it?! Not even a wheelchair?" Going through that experience is very emotional, but to have a HOSPITAL treat you like nothing is even worse. I used to go to Franklin Sq first, whenever I had a medical issue. Now, I will never use them again! EVER. Not a great place to be seen for medical attention. And I never got a survey in the mail either. How convenient.
New office of my primary care physician. Very roomy and clean. Have been there twice since they opened and I was called early and had zero waiting time.
If I could give negative stars I would in a heartbeat. Waiting in the ER for going on 4 HOURS with someone with an OPEN INFECTED OOZING WOUND. With an empty waiting room.
Stop blowing money on new buildings, remodels & do something about about your ridiculous ER.
Had my tonsils and adenoids taken out a couple years ago when I was 17 and they were very caring and patient after that I developed graves disease an they took good care of me with how badly I was off I was skin and bone and dehydrated as I couldn't eat or drink anything and they made me feel better and now 3 years later they are still my favorite hospital (though wait times do suck) I am now 20, 16 weeks pregnant with my first and will be having my child on January 1st at this hospital. Thank you franklin square for being the only hospital I trust in Maryland.
I would like to thank the ER nurses and Ashley on the ICU unit for saving my son life. The staff were amazing! A special thank you to Security, Tech's, Nurses, Sitters and all the doctors who played a major part in saving my son. You Rock! :)
I already knew that Franklin Square was a lousy hospital so when an EMT asked, I said I did NOT want my child taken there , but I got talked into it. It's clear they only wanted to go there because they just didn't feel like driving farther to get us to a good ER. God help you if you have even ONE question about the "treatment" or if more than a WebMd search is needed to diagnose your problem. Staff uses a bunch of med school jargon and gobbledygook to discourage questions when they don't know what's wrong but "We don't know, so go home" is the general attitude. They don't explain anything they are doing and get indignant when you ask for details. I guess I asked for clarification too many times for one nurse who cut me off with "so do you want it or not?" I wouldn't send a dog to that emergency room. If you happen to be near that hospital when in need of an ambulance, DEMAND they take you to GBMC or St Joseph. Don't let the EMT's talk you out of it.
My mother went in for a scheduled neck surgery to Franklin Square. On the day before she was released to a rehab facility, she was showing signs of a Urinary Tract Infection. She has had these in the past and we know the symptoms. Despite all my efforts in talking with the Charge Nurse on the 6th floor and the NP (the doctor was out of the country), they would not put her on an antibiotic for her UTI before she was released. It was as if they didn't want to be bothered. They were also very rude as if I were annoying them while trying to advocate for my mother in her 80's. So my mother will have to suffer with a painful UTI until a doctor in the Rehab Facility can see her. They wouldn't address the issue while she was in the hospital and just "passed the buck". I'll plan to get in touch with the Patient Advocate Manager and take this issue up. This is just wrong...
WAITED HOURS BEFORE WALKING OUT AND GOING TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL, ALSO A LADY IN THE WAITING ROOM WHO WAS HAVING SYMPTOMS OF A HEART ATTACK HAD BEEN SITTING THERE FOR 7 HOURS, AND A GUY WHO HAD 3 BROKEN RIBS THAT HAD BEEN WAITING FOR 5 HOURS, THE WAIT TIMES ARE SO CRAZY.
This hospital is a COMPLETE JOKE!!!!!! The staff ARE NASTY! Believe the reviews! THEY DO NOT CARE. Then to have people from the company reply to unpleasant reviews seeming concerned. The waiting area is FILTHY. I wish i could upload the pictures I've taken and videos of roaches crawling! After 8 hrs of waiting, I simply left. You would think after receiving the same type of reviews, something would change. NEVER AGAIN!
This place is the worst! I have set up 3 appointments. All 3 were cancelled, the last one right before I showed up to the appointment! This place has had a horrible reputation for years (AKA Franklin Scare) and apparently nothing has changed. I hadn't been to this hospital in about 15 years and this is exactly why. Stay away if at all possible.
Just out right the worst er iv ever been to the wait times are way to long the rooms are always dirty and the place keeps upgrading but nothing improves I'm hear with my wife she is having chest pains crying in pain and shes just sitting in a room waiting on the nurses talking and joking out side the room
While visiting Baltimore, I was admitted to Franklin Square. I received the best service. The doctors, nurses and other staff members were very attentive. All my needs were met.
Was there from 6 pm to 12:45 am and told I had a possible miscarriage and to go follow up and see my doctor.. when I asked questions everything is I don t know we have to wait and see the doctor told me I was 6 weeks and the sonographer told me I was 4 weeks and 5 days, it s frustrating having someone tell you you could have miscarried and then everything after Is I don t know, go see your doctor when it s the weekend.
This is the second time my husband has had to go to the emergency room in a couple of months. The only reason that we went there is because his Oncologist is there. The first time we arrived 300 :a.m. in the morning and finally got out of there at 4:30 p.m. -13 1/2 hrs.later. Today we arrived at 9:00 and at 4:00 in the afternoon we were still sitting in the waiting room. My husband was in a lot of pain and nothing could be done for him. I would recommend that you go anywhere else.
I will NEVER go to this hospital's ER again by my own choice. Tonight I took my almost 2 year old toddler in with an injury to her arm and 7 hours later, I left. If you are in an emergency or semi-emergency situation, you should definitely drive to GBMC or Johns Hopkins...DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. Here's the deal:
1. there's no order to what they are doing and they actively lie about when you are going to see a doctor. A few minutes in their terms is over an hour.
2. the staff is clueless: In the pediatrics waiting room, there was a cartoon-like thing playing (think Beavis and Butthead) - NOT FOR KIDS. The TV show was making fun of what they called "retarded kids", a mans genitals were on fire at one point, and they said the word dick several times. I asked the girl at the front to change it and she said - it's just a cartoon - and it wasn't..not at all. Finally they changed it...but the sound was so loud it was nearly impossible to concentrate or calm a baby up way past her bedtime.
3. What hospital doesn't have a changing table - anywhere? Not in the bathrooms even. SO my daughter had peed through her pants, so finally I began undressing her in the lobby to change her diaper because there was no where to change her. I had 2 people looking for options and finally they allowed me in the grieving room on a chair. WHAT HOSPITAL DOESN'T HAVE CHANGING TABLES IN A PEDIATRICS AREA?
4. We did xrays BEFORE ever seeing a doctor. For them not knowing if it was her shoulder or her elbow, they refused to take images of her shoulder which makes NO sense.
5. My daughter left 7 - yes 7 hours later (after midnight) in the SAME condition as she arrived in. There were only 2 helpful people in the entire place - Dr. Ngigi and someone named Missy.
In an emergency, I would have been better off flying to Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Yes it would've cost more, but I guarantee I would've been in and out with a better outcome WAY before Franklin Square.
This is by far the WORST experience I've received....ever.
If I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS I WOULD. THEY HAVE NO SINCE OF URGENCY HERE. ALWAYS OVER CROWDED. PEOPLE ARE IN THE HALL WAY WAITING. EVERY SINCE THE REMOVE THE PEDIATRIC PART THEY HAVE WENT DOWN HILL. I RATHER DRIVE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN TO BE SEEN THEN COME HERE. THE STAFF MEMBERS ARE VERY RUDE AND THEY ACT AS OF THE DON'T CARE. HERE TO THEIR HOURS AND GO HOME.. ALL THESE EMPTY ROOMS THEY HAVE IN THE BACK AND THEY ARE NOT BEING USE AT ALL. THIS PLACE SUCKS WOULD BE LAST TIME EVER COMING HERE. ITS AT LEAST 70 PEOPLE IN THE AREA TO BE SEEN.
lack of communication between staff and patients. case management? patient relations? we never heard from anyone until we were at a dead end and we had to reach out to them. that is not okay. never thought I would see the day that city hospital is better but they are well ahead, in regards of patient relations and proper communication.
I was just in there for a hernia operation. Outpatient side. All the staff that was there was excellent from the time I was in until it was time for me to go home. Everyone was so nice and helpful in that area. I thank everyone that was with me during my. Surgery. Great staff and doctors especially Dr. Matsuura for doing my operation. Great Doctor!!!!! Thank u
I wouldn't recommend at this place at all! This place isn't worth anybody's time at all. They don't check up on you at all, they won't ask if you want a blanket or drink. The nurses just stand around and laugh while your in need of help. All they do is put you in a corner and forget about you. Upper Chesapeake has separate rooms, individual service and care. If I could give this place a negative rating I would but one star is the lowest. Honestly I'd rather die than come here. My wife and I are never coming back. Bc the staff doesnt seem to care.
Well Overall The hospital is nice and the doctors and nurses are excellent. However the administration including mainly billing/customer service has been Difficult, Poor and Disgraceful for such an establishment. Unfortunately My family is going through hell because of a lack of professionalism and it seems they do not train qualified workers for the job. I wont get in to details but lets just say"someone really screwed up and they arent wanting to take the hit for it" Too bad. Hire Qualified people and own up to you're mistakes.
Would give it No stars if possible...Brought by ambulance just to be put in the Emergency waiting room for 5 hours now. Supposed to be waiting for the fast rooms but haven't been called yet. Now back in a room 5 and 1/2 hours later, no one has even come in yet. Very unprofessional and unclean. Definitely would not recommend unless you want to possibly die in the waiting room
