Ive read some of these comments, some with valid cocerns and some i would dismiss as craziness in the US. Maryland has some the highest wait times around. Is it due to the staff maybe a very small amount.
The problem is healthcare and our current system. Emergency room are for just that emergencys. Not a headache or a stuffy nose. Thats for your Primary Care Physcian (PCP). But like most living in MD you don't have one nor do you have insurance.
You want quick wait times MOVE TO ENGLAND. They have free health care and wait times are almost non existent. Oh but remember the population is about 1/8th. Oh yea for you folks that use the hospitals as your local weekend opiod pickup site, they dont dish out drugs like the US. But if you move good luck kicking your habit.
I think Franklin Square is a fine hospital based on the number of patients they see on a daily basis. my only issue is with nutrition. I order X, Y, and Z plus coffee and sugar, I might get sugar, toast a glass, and R,Yand Q. Even after complaining to everyone in managmemt nothing helps. I now bring a peanut butter and jelly as a hidden emergency with a thermous of coffee.
PS: i would never take any of that if I was NPO.

Brought my son here because he suffered a seizure at home because It was the closest hospital. By the time we got here he was back to normal and they said all they are going to do is monitor him. HELLO HOW ABOUT CONTACTING THE ON CALL PEDIATRIC NEUROLOGIST!!!? On top of that taking blood pressure and heart rates in a public lobby just for vitals. Anyone heard of HIPPA!?!

I had a surgery here last year, and all of the staff members were very kind and patient with me. They put me at ease immediately. I was nervous about the billing situation as well, but it turns out I qualified for financial assistance, and they waived my remaining balance after my insurance!! Amazing to call in to pay a bill, and find out you owe nothing!

The ER at Franklin Square is the worst they don't tell u it's going to be a long wait my wife checked in at 1030pm they tell me her husband I can't wait with her so I go home then over 7 hours later she still hasn't been seen by a doctor what joke

Absolutely, hands down, the worst customer service I've ever seen in healthcare. Being involved in the industry for 8 years and working in the industry for 5 years, I have never been on either the patient side or provider side for hours on end without receiving any sort of attention - waited in the ER waiting room for 3 hours with only 10 other patients THEN waited in another room for 2 hours without a nurse even coming in to say "sorry we're a little backed up, is there anything we can get for you?" Nothing. Didn't even tell us whether we'd be seen by a dr or in line for a CT scan. Very poor communication. Can't imagine returning by choice ever again.

ER Staff is horrid!!! 10 open beds at this exact moment, staff standing around on their phones and 30 people in the waiting room. Some have been here for 15+ hours. We need a new hospital close by!

It amazes me how automated your responses are Franklin square. Are you taking these postings seriously ? If you were, I believe you would of fired the entire ER management team and seriously embarked on improving such a tarnished image of the ER service you provide. Do you not allow your ER staff a place to eat ? Or is it part of the image you wish to portray to your patrons and patients ? I wonder what the local news would think when they show up in your ER unexpected for a story ! Wake up ! Fire that horrid management team and turn yourself into a "real" ER. I had to hit a star just to post but in reality you are a negative star rating.

My mom was taken there from a nursing home in March of last year and the staff had about as much professionalism as a toad frog. My mom did pass, but they really did not do anything to extend her life either. The doctor was rude and brash..very rough with her as she was struggling for breath. Yes she was elderly and disabled, I was saddened to learn they were taking her there because while it is clean they are not the sharpest or the best. I work in the healthcare industry and yes it can be stressful, but all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

It's the best psych ward I've ever been in. The staff was great. Very attentive & just good at their job. The doctor is accessible. If I ever have another breakdown I'm going back there. The food is good.

7 hours so far. Been dealing with an issue nobody can figure out, but they want to do the same exact tests every time then send us home. Pain medication came 6 hours after coming, and when she pushes the emergency button to let them know it's not helping, it takes 8 minutes for someone to come in. Unbelievable how much people pay for this kind of service.

Franklin Square Hospital Laboratory Service is the worst place to go. My son did blood urine test on June 30th,2015 one day only. Total cost after Care First deductible is $507.31. This cost is sky high. Compare with University of MD ST Joseph Hospital my son did same test only cost less than $150. I ask whole family don t go to Franklin Square Hospital any more.

I have had 5 of my 6 children here and the last was 22 years ago and let me tell you this hospital has went down hill... Each time i or someone i know had went to the ER it has been 10 to 12 hit wait...my friend couldn't sit up he was in so much pain they gave him pain meds took blood and a CAT scan and we have been sitting here for 5hrs whiletheytalk about their life, laugh, show videos to each other while people are in severe pain or elderly people are calling out to them for 30 mins to use the bathroom whims they just look at them and keep walking by.......they keep apologizing time after time but guess what nothing is changing and theyare still getting paid to chat, laugh, play, watch videos while people are hurting and need help...all i can say is WOW.... They sit us in clusters in hallways and hard chairs for more then 8 hrs.... Even in what they call fast track we sat one day for 7hrs....

The waiting area I was in was clean, the multiple receptionists we had to talk to were friendly and helpful. Cafeteria was clean, didn't eat any of the food but I would have.
People that complain about the wait wouldn't last in the military...it is to be expected at any hospital. The nurses and MD that talked to my mother and I were helpful and had a good humor to them. Was helped by a nurse in the hall when I was looking for the cafeteria. Vending machines were kinda high but they took cards.

I ALWAYS have problems at this place. I would almost rather risk it and go to a further emergency room. I've had breathing emergencies, triaged with 82% oxygen levels and stuck back in the waiting room where people smell of blood, urine, smoke, perfume, all triggers of asthma attacks, without any treatment. The staff never takes time to address your needs or seems to care when you tell them something that may be of importance during triage. I was dismissed as if I was just being a baby about what I felt was an emergency on two separate occasions and it nearly cost me my life. Had it not been for one particular doctor there, it would have. The staff always acts as though you're bothering them when you ask for ANYTHING. Have some compassion, emergency rooms are scary and uncomfortable enough already.
I am posting this review since I received a letter...
I am posting this review since I received a letter that referred to my son having COVID, when he actually DID NOT! We took our son to be seen for shortness of breath and chest pains. All the emergency room did was swab for COVID and sent him on his way. He was there all but 30 mins in & out. My original complaint was WHAT is proper protocol call for patients who initially complain of chest pains upon arrival? They did not do xrays!! Just a swab!! With this complaint, we took him the follow day to GBMC, where he was admitted AFTER they immediately did a chest xray, which showed he had sepsis pneumonia in both upper and lower lobes of both lungs. He was swabbed and checked for COVID antibodies, that came out 100% negative all 4 times tested. Franklin Square was extremely negligent and I am more upset they never checked his lungs via xrays upon arrival and dismissed his initial complaint of chest pains. I am even more upset, that he had to be admitted for 8 days less than 24hrs after he left Franklin Square. I am so sick of hearing it was COVID related when it definitely was not!!The letter I received from your hospital stated "some patients with COVID develop worsening symptoms of hypoxia and need to be admitted as their disease progresses" This is complete bull, considering he didn't get his results from Franklin until about a week later ( which was negative for a 5th time). MY COMPLAINT IS THAT NO ONE DID AN XRAY AFTER MY SON COMPLAINED OF CHEST PAINS!! YOUR EMERGENCY ROOM IS A COMPLETE JOKE!! If we hadn't taken him back, he was 1 floor away from a ventilator!

I was taken to Franklin Square Hospital by ambulance the morning of April 20th for a possible heart attack. The emergency room staff were great, it was when i moved to a room that it went a bit south. I was given 3 clueless residence doctors that I named the 3 stooges to treat me, or figure out what was going on. Now i know everyone has to learn and start somewhere.. But at some point an experienced physician should had seen me. They did not listen, they were more curious about my rare blood disorder i have than why i was brought in, messed up the meds they ordered, which thank god my nurse caught, failed to order the pain meds i needed, which again my nurse got corrected, disregarded the fact I have RA, and failed to order a .C-Reactive Protein, Quant in my lab work that even my nurse asked if they did, especially since my recent results were 6 times higher than it should be. I was discharged with no answers, and all quesses, and i am sure a huge bill. Thank GOD for my nurse Mary. She was amazing, and can't thank her enough.I would think twice about going to this Hospital for anything serious. I had no choice or I would have, knowing how they had treated my daughter 6 months ago.
WARNING!!!!
Since i had this visit, i now have had to battle there shady billing practices. I was paying monthly faithly. One month they did not send me their normal billing statement and immediately sent me to collections for the balance of the bill. Before they ruined my credit, i sent them the remainder of what i owed. Recently and 11 MONTHS LATER !!! i received a collection letter from Transworld saying i owed them $100 from this visit. Not one call, email, bill was sent to me for this $100 in the last 11 months. Not to mention i had paid it off. This place is shady. If you have to go there, be prepared to get screwed by the billing Dept

Nothing to do while waiting in emergency room than to read the reviews of this hospital. I have been waiting for 3 hours for my husband to get results. I don't know how much longer we have to wait, but kind of feel more fortunate than others after reading the reviews. The administrator should be ashamed of themselves. The wait time in emergency is too long. Read the complaints.

Went to this Hospital previously for surgery for the incompetent, evil scamming Dr. E. Cristen Campian. The nursing staff were terrible, dishonest, dismissive and nasty. Rough, cold callous and abrasive through the night. Happily the next day I had a great discharge nurse but it didn't make up for the ones that tripped over my catheter at night constantly and were loud and ignorant. The Dr's and Nurses make this place horrible.

I will NEVER EVER go to this ER again for as long as I live and if you want to live you should not go there either!!!! I am oxygen dependent 24/7 and when the front desk intake worker took me to the triage area and informed the triage nurse she, the nurse said "well I dont have a stethoscope" and made no effort to find one. I was left sitting with everyone else as I struggled to breathe. I waited 3 hours and was never seen. I just got up and left and the guard just let me out the door. Nobody said a word. Then they had the nerve to send me a letter 2 weeks later saying they saw I was there and to follow up with my PCP. I only went there bc my pulmonary doc wanted me to bc he is on staff there. Never ever again.

Went there by ambulance suffering from a kidney stone. I was in so much pain I was vomiting in a plastic vomit bag in the ambulance. EMT gave me an IV an injected in it something for the pain & nausea. We get to the hospital, and they unhook me from the IV but leave the port in my arm. I'm put in a wheelchair and made to go through triage, yes, they had to take my temperature, blood pressure, and weigh me...that's right, doubled over in pain and I have to stand on a scale. I'm begging this women to give me something for the pain and she tells me I have to wait for a nurse. Then my husband is given a number and told to wheel me into the waiting room and wait for the number to be called...wow...I have a port stuck in my arm, vomiting in a bag and in excruciating pain and I'm in the waiting room. I think someone felt sorry for me because I was taken back for medical care 20 minutes later.
The ER is a nightmare, but when I finally did get medical attention, the nurse and student nurse I had were awesome.

Came in 330am. It's not going on 630am. I came into the ER to get checked. I am 8 weeks pregnant and experiencing some bleeding. I got checked . now waiting another hour for results. You have a good staff. But the wait time to see a pyshican is over 13hours.... Really ridiculous. I could have something wrong with me and by the time I would get treated or helped. It would be to late. I have never been to a hospital where patients had to wait this long... And only one person has been called out of a full waiting room in the last hour.

Horrible hospital i just waited two hours with my son he is 5yrs old high fever and he vomited at the waiting room one of them told me i let them know 10 min nothing more waiting i don t think children should be waiting that long i had to leave to other hospital i was not wait more my son is not feeling good and i dont wanna wait more the manager of this hospital should be fired because is not organization at all i look like the staff is lost like is a mess of staff horrible experience not coming back never!!! 0 stars!
Worst hospital I have ever encountered in my life,...
Worst hospital I have ever encountered in my life, my daughter walked in the hospital at 8 p.m. this evening and has yet to be taken in the back or even taken to triage, 5 1/2 hrs. Later she is still sitting there after Her doctor had given instructions to go to the hospital for bleeding in her intestinal area. We all understand emergencies, however everyone that walks through those doors should be treated with respect for they have no idea what truly could be wrong. And we wonder why insurance is so expensive with all the malpractice suets. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I'm sure they would love their loved ones treated in that manner.

Mom came into the ED at about 10:00am and the staff did 2 tests on her. It is now after 10:30pm and we are still waiting to talk with a doc to discuss the results. Meanwhile patients are lying on the hard floor and others are just walking out. One lady was vomiting into a waste basket in the ED waiting area. Hours later I told someone that the waste can needed to be removed. I was told that housekeeping would be called but more than 2 hours later the vomit bag is still here in the waiting room with us.
Now a tech is in the middle of the waiting room calling all the patients "who have been here a while" (approximately 20 - 25 people) and retaking their vitals. Right in front of everyone! So embarrassing.
The food here is also lacking. Vending machines are packed with chips and candy, the gift shop has rows and rows of candy with zero nutritional options and when I went to the cafeteria, they seemed to have only fried hot foods available. They do have a huge assortment of potato chips and a nice selection of ice cream bars. Not quite the options you would expect at a hospital.
The staff on the other hand has been quite nice.

Zero stars if it were possible. Got here @ 12:15 and got seen relatively quickly because I was exposed to Carbon Monoxide. Then they took my blood. I ve now been sitting here waiting for results for almost 3 hours. Everyone in the waiting room is in immense pain. If they re so understaffed hire more people! When you re getting triaged the nurses sit there and laugh at what you tell them. Most importantly I don t understand why they would rush me into getting an ekg which was NEVER done, especially when I told them I had chest pains, if in all, I d be sitting here for 2.5 hours waiting on blood work. I was told there were 2 people ahead of me waiting for their results. This was 2.5 hours ago. They really don t care about you and what s wrong with you, you probably have to be dying on their hospital floor for them to show any type of respect to you. Take the time out to go to St Joes honestly this is absurd. I m really blown away by the negligence that everyone shows here when there s actually serious stuff going on among the patients waiting hours and hours on end to be seen.

My friend (whose name I'll leave private) had pseudomonas infected wounds on both shins, uninfected wounds on both thighs from where they had to graph skin to cover the shins, and formerly pseudomonas infection in wounds on both hands. During dressing changes, my friend didn't always want to do all 6 to 8 wounds at one time because it was painful. My friend also has trouble walking because the right shin had to have dead bone removed, with a muscle stretched from the back of the shin to cover the front under the skin graft. Given that this caused trouble walking, my friend has trouble making it to the bathroom. Therefore my friend sometimes disconnects the IV Pole so that my friend can focus on holding their Walker and not pulling the pole to the bathroom. My friend could be lethargic, only staying awake 6 to 8 hours, and the infectious disease doctor I assumed this was actually very good and that my friend is lucky to be awake 4 hours a day. The nurses however assumed I must be bringing my friend sedative drugs. So after 48 days in the hospital, a top nurse wanted to put my friend on a behavior contract saying however much longer my friend was in the hospital, my friend would have no visitors, allow a nurse to change the dressings on all wounds at one time with no breaks between each wound, and never disconnect from the IV pole. So after waiting around for 2 hours to see that nurse(charge nurse or nurse manager); the charge nurse, nurse manager, my friends assigned nurse, my friends tech, and the head of security (William Begett) finally arrived in my friend's room. By this point my friend and I had had decided that I would record the conversation and take notes where necessary. Suffice it to say they did not like being recorded and my phone ended up getting broke by Head of Security William Begett, along with William Begett trying to cover my camera.

I recently was hospitalized for 4 days at Franklin Square in the fifth floor tower and these people took such good care of me. My meds we're on time, I never had to ask or wait. Whatever I needed or wanted they did and gave me. Including all kinds of snacks, all hours of the night and day. As soon as I pushed the call button they we're right there. I was listening to them, they we're soooo busy and put up with(and handled well) a lot of abuse from patients. They we're so nice to me, my illness was kinda gross and dressings needed to be changed frequently. They always were gentle, pleasant and didn't make me feel uncomfortable, embarrassed or a burden. The room was nicely decorated, had a big bathroom with a nice shower and felt as homey as it could be. My only gripe (and guess this is every hospital) is could not get any sleep. Someone was always waking me up for something. The main one was the vitals nurse, waking me up CONSTANTLY!!!! I had almost no restrictions so Food was to be expected, they try but it's a hospital. It was on par. But nurses make the hospital experience. And these made my stay almost like a vacation.

I delivered my son at Franklin Square and was placed in a room with a bathroom that hadn't been cleaned....blood all over the toilet and the floor....NOT MY BLOOD either. Then when I complained their Risk Manager said my complaint was a lie and that I was transported to another room immediately. Now THAT was a lie because I wasn't transferred to another room, they came and cleaned the bathroom hours later. The Nurse tending to me was even horrified. In addition, after giving birth they forgot to feed me so we had to track people down to find SOMETHING for me to eat. I'm just thankful I had family around to help out....couldn't imagine how horrible it would've been had I been a single mom with no one to help me. Unapologetic people running the Risk Mgt. dept at that place. I'd rather drive longer to get to another facility, couldn't pay me to go back to that place.

Absolute worst hospital ever!!! My diabetic mother who also suffers from Bells Palsy was sent there from Patient First due to an abcess in her mouth. They had her wait 11 hours before being and told her she isn t dying so when isn t priority. She asked for applesauce due to low sugar and they told her they had nothing but ice water to offer her. How do you allow a diabetic to sit without food for 11 hours and continue to tell them they are not a priority because they are not dyin!!! She could die sitting there!!! Medical malpractice!!!
