Stayed two nights in the Grand Presidential Suite....
Stayed two nights in the Grand Presidential Suite. The view was spectacular - no question. The suite had a few cosmetic updates but it wasn t impressive. First was the old moist odour smacking your face when you walk into the room and turning on the ventilation fan to the highest doesn t help. There are many electrical issues with the suite. Old plugs and switches don t work. The ceiling fan/light doesn t work so there was no good lighting at night. I asked guest service for help and they said they d have to schedule the electrician to come in - I couldn t wait for that. The balcony was very shaky and unsafe. The lower floor washroom s placement of the toilet paper is very questionable as anyone using the toilet would have to walk a couple steps to reach the toilet paper. A moveable freestanding toilet paper stand would have made much more sense for the washroom layout. Overall I wasn t impressed especially not for $800/night. There aren t any extra amenities for this quality of a suite. I had to call room service for a bath robe which had a tear in it. I couldn t bother to ask and wait for another one. I only needed the cover up to use the swimming pool. The swimming pool was old and the whirl pool was weak. The showers and amenities were nice. The gym in the basement is well equipped. Gym and front desk area has complimentary water. The front area of the ground floor has good seating to work and the bar is very convenient. The tour help desk was very informative and was able to provide clear directions. The front desk had clerical errors. Had complimentary parking for two nights due to conference attendance but had to triple check with front desk during (1) check in (2) night before check out and (3) check out. First they said they had to check with management. Second they said parking charges removed. Third they said only one night parking was removed so they had to manually remove the second one before printing out the receipt. If I didn t check 3 times then those errors would ve never been caught and I wouldn t have bothered to phone in to revise. Probably better communication and training is required. Thanks.
