Take it to the Ombudsman!!

You must take your issues to the ombudsman and don't give up! Don't put up with damp, mold, antisocial behavior, disrepair, abuse of your privacy, time and lives. They will lie, ignore, fob you off, gaslight and not deal with serious issues and keep extorting you for more money. This corrupt clown outfit are not fit for purpose and need shutting down and top management throwing in prison for abuse, neglect and criminal behavior. Don't let them get away with their vile twisted business practices and games. The ombudsman will help but it takes time. Longhurst will be fined for each investigation. Each customer suffering at their abusive corrupt hands needs to take it to the ombudsman. DON'T LET THESE CORRUPT CRIMINALS GET AWAY WITH IT. STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES. WE ALL NEED TO WITHHOLD RENT AND COLLECTIVELY TAKE THEM TO COURT!!

the worst company ever stay clear they target vunerable people i applied for a flat with them in 2022 got there and the place was shocking absolute mess the women was rude unproffessional they expect to get money out of me when i never even stayed there

I moved into my flat about 4 years ago When I first moved in the garden flooded abit but it was a new build so it was reported and apparently would be dealt with by the contractors. The contractors gave me a day they would come round to inspect they never turned up and longhurst told me they came and my partner who wasn’t home that day answered the door and turned them away. I was then later threatened with eviction if I did not fix the flooding in my garden. I then had a rude and entitled bully move in above me. Who has a bully xl so no small dog. They have wooden stairs than run through our bedroom as well. I asked them nicely to be mindful of the noise and asked if they could put flooring down they said they would in a few days. That was over a year ago. I then asked them again to stop with the constant banging as it was stopping me and my partner from sleeping making us late for work in the mornings, they also refused to leash their dog after being told by longhurst and neighbours to do so as they had no control of the dog and there are dog aggressive dogs around here, they refused to do this and refused to pick up their dogs mess from the communal area. They then hit my motorcycle with their car door while my bike was parked In my designated spot as they was also in my parking spot I went out to see what happened as I only heard my bike alarm at to which point I was met with hostility and threats no apology after striking my vehicle. I reported this to longhurst yet nothing was done. I have autism and adhd and I have made longhurst aware of this and they dismiss me time and time again I chase them up every week to do with my nuisance neighbor and nothing changes. They have not been made to put flooring down after keep their large dog up there allowing it to run up and down the stairs at 2am. They also run up and down the stairs coming and going at all times of the night multiple times. They have also let other people live in the property while the lease holder was not staying there. This has happened a few times and yet longhurst refuse to do anything about it. I have reported all this to longhurst I’ve probably missed aload more stuff that I’ve had to report and deal with. I would not recommend this housing association for anyone with learning difficulties or anyone who is venerable as you will not be looked after and will be ignored and dismissed and made out to be the bad guy.

I am deeply concerned about the efficacy of this organisation, particularly in light of its receipt of government funding. Over my 35-year tenancy, I have witnessed a steady decline in its performance. The purported complaints policy appears to be a mere formality, implemented solely to placate higher authorities.

In July 2023 I gained a court order mandated the removal of the neighbours tree, as the situation with Longhurst had deteriorated to the point where the organisation was unresponsive. August 11, 2023, I contacted Longhurst offices to seek clarification regarding Ideverde (Tree Surgeons) failing to honour their appointment without prior notification. I was assured that Longhurst would the legal department's enquiry, with the understanding that Longhurst would subsequently update me. Regrettably, I did not receive any communication.

In a letter dated July 21, 2023, I was informed of Ideverde's scheduled visit to my property on August 9, 2023, for tree removal subsequent to the conclusion of our legal proceedings. Their correspondence also stipulated that I should inform them if any circumstances arose preventing access to this appointment. In the absence of any such communication from my end, I assumed that the appointment would proceed as planned.

However, on August 11, 2023, I contacted Longhurst offices seeking an explanation for Ideverde's failure to honour their appointment and the absence of any notification to me. I was advised that the legal department would be apprised of my enquiry, with the expectation that I would subsequently be contacted. Unfortunately, no response was received.

I subsequently made another call. This appears to be an ongoing practice of Longhurst with their disregard, in the hopes that the tenant will relent while continuing to bear the financial burden for substandard housing and repairs.

Ultimately, an unannounced representative from Longhurst arrived at my door and commenced taking photographs. It was at this juncture that I was informed that Ideverde had indeed visited. I enquired as to how they gained access and was informed that they had scaled the fence. Given that my fence is fortified with barbed wire, executing tree removal without proper access would have been nearly impossible. Upon closer inspection, it became evident that the tree had been pruned, despite the court's directive for its removal, which was previously agreed upon. Longhurst's approach seems to lean towards spontaneous visits and substandard execution, with a seeming indifference to the repercussions or the court's explicit instructions, all while still receiving compensation.

It is disheartening that I will be compelled to resort to legal recourse to address this matter, especially in light of Longhurst's purported commitment to tree removal.

This is the first time I haven't had to contact longhurst group to have the bush in front of my house cut back,! It was cut this afternoon without me having to ask ,very happy with this service ,thank you .

Just because we're not very well off doesn't mean we have to live in a cave and we've always paid the rent without fail.

Having read some of the reviews here my issue doesn't seem very significant. I'll keep it brief, we live in a ground floor flat in a three story block. The downpipe from the gutter at the top of building runs down the side of our flat. It's broken, clearly visible from the street. We called in early August and got an appointment for today 14th September 2023. Having cancelled my plans and waiting in all day no one showed up. This isn't the first time it's happened. On ringing them we were told it was a communal issue and a contractor had been out on the 22nd of August and found no problem. Words fail me. I'd like to not pay the service charges attached to this property for many reasons. Another one being the maintenance of the interior communal areas. I and other residents actually do it ourselves. I even vacuum the carpeted area in the entrance. When I checked the maintenance check sheet it shows the someone has signed it off as being done. Which it hasn't. Longhurst are sh#t show of a company. The attitude of their staff over the phone is mostly appalling. When you call them you are advised that calls are recorded. On one call after a 45 minute wait on hold I advised the person I was talking to that I too was recording the call. I was told that I was not allowed to do that, I asked why not and did state at the beginning of the call that I was recording the call. She said that it wasn't legal and hung up immediately. I can only assume their staff are trained to a high level of legal matters but not in customer service. The company needs to look at it's entire infrastructure as it appears no one from the CEO to the call handlers have any idea what they are doing. And yes I could do better bearing in mind I consider myself to be a moron.

14 appointments made for repairs..no one attends... Previously Left without heating and hot water for 2 weeks in December. Myself and my primary aged children were freezing. I contacted environmental health and they contacted Longhirst. This company should be taken over. The CEO needs removing as do the board. Criminal charges should be brought against this Social Housing Organisation.

Water leaking all over the floor, mould, damp…the usual🙄

Been in my Longhurst property for 4 months and I am sick to death of the problems with the bathroom. It’s absolutely mould ridden and has taken over 5 repairs appointments to actually locate a water leak which I told them was the issue all along. Problems that they knew were ongoing before I moved in. Its 3 times worse now due to their inaction / incompetence. Communication is a farce with extreme waiting times. They expect you to sit around / waste rest days/ take time off while they guff up with one repair after another and cancel altogether at the 11th hour. Ian Williams, their maintenance personnel are no better. I have lodged a complaint. Its a joke, especially when you consider that some of us have to pay our full rent. I am keeping a video journal of the mess in the event I have to instruct a solicitor, which I know isn’t unfortunately even an option for some. Its time they overhauled their repairs system because this one is a disaster.

appalling service, avoid at all costs

absolutely appalling service, i've had no heating working for the past 3 years i have lived here, there is an infestation throughout the whole building of silverfish, time and time again i have been lied to and ignored regarding these situations. paying £80 a month in service charges, and nothing in the building is maintained as it should be. no one in this building is happy with the "services" provided, i have a 4 year old son who is on the spectrum, and there is NOWHERE for him to play except next to the road here. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO AVOID LONGHURST!

Crime certainly pays with Longhurst

I moved into one of their flats in Derby 2021 during the December lockdown. By far one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made in my 37 years of life.

Endured weeks of thumping loud music from my next door 'neighbour' who was also doing drugs and allowing the flat to be used by other drug users. Eventually, having received no support whatsoever from Longhurst in resolving this, I had to 'talk' to him myself. The music used to scare my dog as well, causing her to jump off the bed and pace up and down. It honestly made everything inside my flat vibrate, you could actually feel it as well as hear it.

Then my upstairs 'neighbour' decided to use his flat to house a large number of cannabis plants, which were eventually raided by police. During this time I had to endure repeated, very aggressive approaches by one of the gang members, who did not live there. This was following a huge water leak which flooded my bathroom, kitchen and hallway store cupboard. I received no apology from Longhurst for this, and nobody even came out to look at it. Even following the police raid, the 'tenant' was allowed to return to the flat and resume 'living there', even though the electricity had been cut off by the power distributor following the discovery of a very serious act of meter tampering, which they told me was a 'risk to life' when they had to come out and dig the concrete right outside my door at gone 10pm at night.

At no time during this tenancy did I receive a shred of help from Longhurst.

The best moment was when I found somewhere else and gave them the keys back, that was the best feeling ever.

Don't rent from these, you will regret it.

Ok will try to keep this short. My parents which are pensioners Have been renters in there current home for 15 years or more. The landlords have done silly things in the past like sending out a electrician for a job which then they have to wait again for a plumber. So left without hot water for days or weeks. This is what has now got me so upset with them. On 24th December 2022 there aerial had broken from its bracket and was hanging lose swinging about. As this is a communal aerial and feeds more than one flat it is the landlords. They called and Longhurst sent out a Plummer with some carpet tape with no ladder. So nothing could be done. Now we get to early January 2023 more people sent out and nothing done. The phone number they were using was costing them a small fortune. Later they have been given a 0800 number. Many calls a given the runaround nothing getting done until Saturday 25th February 2023. Two men came out from the landlord and just cut the aerial and left it out side. So since 25th February two pensioners have been left with no T.V . So have been left sitting there with no comfiting t.v to Watch this is appalling. To be treating two people in there twilight years like this. All they get now from Longhurst now . We have called & email the Aerial contractor they have not got back to us. This is the same story they have been getting from early January. Why will they not get someone else to do the job. I would pay and get this done for them but as it's rented and a communal aerial. I would get in trouble if I did so according to the contract. Which it does say it should take for a job like this 28 days. Its now over double that. Shame on Longhurst leaving to pensioner's sitting there with no comfit T.V to watch.

All they keep saying is we will phone you back not even 1 repair done to a property that is destroyed from a burst pipe!

longhurst how can you leave disabled people homeless in minus temperatures?

No heating no hot water no electricity and sleeping in Thier car to keep warm as possible?

You have a duty of care for tenants especially ones who are disabled. They have never given you a problem they have been good tenants and this is how you treat them!

Monday I reported that my toilet was o ce again blocked, dyno came out and couldn't unblock it fully as its the s bend causing the problem, he said the toilet needs replacing. I waited for 6 hours for them to turn up, within 2 hours the toilet was blocked again. I reported it again this morning and told them what dyno had said the previous day. Once again i was put on a 4 hour emergency repair. Just over 3 hours later I was rather surprised that dyno turned up again. Once again the man did all he could but was unable to unblock it. This man told me exactly the same as the one on the previous day. Here I am once again with no working toilet. Disgusted really isn't a strong enough word to describe the lack of customer service by the longhurst group.

I would give zero stars if it was possible. I would never recommend to my worst enemy to deal with Longhurst as you will deal with nothing but stress and being ignored. I've reported a leak in my house 9 months ago and I am still fighting for someone to even give me a call back to arrange repair as they keep dismissing me. 1 hour on hold each time to get through to someone, then they will hang up on you and never call back.

Longhurst has an extremely bad reputation and being a tenant justifies exactly that.
I regard them as unprofessional and the staff who I have dealt with, do not know what they are talking about hence do not keep their word.
As for their dealings with anti-social behaviour, they do not know how to resolve any issues satisfactorily, to the extent that it appears that the aggressor feels entitled to continue the anti-social behaviour; very poor support which lacks any practical resolve. Stay well clear!

DO NOT use this company. They will fleece you out of money after you've left by tricking you during end of tenancy visit. I was told nothing needed to be done before handing keys back then got landed with a hefty bill for 'repairs' and i know of other ex tennants this has happened to aswell.

Moved in to a bungalow with longhurst, 4 weeks ago big mistake, we moved there from a lovely new build house to a nightmare, we only moved in because it was adapted for our disabled daughter, boiler didn t work no heating for 5 days , the built in cooker didn t work but wouldn t allow us to put plate own in took 2 weeks to fix now boiler condemned and no heating for 6 days and still ant come out to fix it , gave us vouchers for decorating because the place was left in a poor state and carnt redeem them as they have not paid there bill so can t even decorate the place and they don t care ! Never in my life have I had trouble with any housing till now !!! Longhurst is a joke

Very poorly run organisation who managed a leasehold property for my sister until she went into a care home. We had a few issues with the property which were the responsibility of Longhurst to put right. I spent several months speaking to various departments resulting in a formal complaint to which they responded weeks after the stated time according to their complaints procedure, so I reported them to the Housing Ombudsman. Do not use or buy a property that this company runs!

Just phoned longhurst group and spoke to a really snotty nasty person called Jill, who is not professional at all talks over you when your trying to speak, think this person needs a course in customer service as she clearly has not got the skills for her job role. All I want for them is to get in touch with my partner about succession for the property and they can't even do that because the housing officer is too busy all the time, has not offered him anywhere else so clearly wants to throw him out when they're getting rent money off him but by LAW they cannot do that. Such a shameful company and they should be ashamed of themselves for wanting to kick out a CANCER PATIENT!
