It is ridiculously expensive.

The actual museum is closed. They dont have it posted in the parking lot that the only displays are modern. So just be prepared. The Getty is Open!!!!

I don't know how I haven't reviewed LACMA before. I have been here many times over the years, and this is one of the only places that always seems to deliver for me every time.
There is always something that speaks to me at LACMA. I may not be into the abstract or surrealism exhibit on this trip, but I know that I can always escape to the solace and simplicity of the Japanese Pavilion for the subtleties of haiku and masterful Kanji.
Or I can grab a cup of coffee and wander the grounds, catching the famous tar pits, or maybe catching a glimpse of Levitating Mass.
Or I can check out one of their special exhibits, which happened to be the Caravaggio and Kubrick on my last trip.
Regardless of how I'm feeling, or what I'm into- I always find something to be a source of inspiration. And with the addition of food trucks that seem to always be hanging out nearby, I was able to spend the better part of a day engrossed in art.
If you haven't been, treat yourself and get cultured, you philistine.

Tour guide led trip of 'Run with Endurance' Bible highlights. Wonderful trip.
$25 for a museum that has a majority of it's areas closed for construction? What a joke. The museum was dirty, most of the displays were poorly built wooden stands and the staff was very rude. I would give it a zero star rating if I could. Wish I could have gotten a refund.
Must visit for anyone in LA. Great art, great crowd.
Visit for the art, special exhibits, and atmosphere. Stay for ALL OF THE INSTAGRAM PHOTO OPS.
Reminds me of 3 grade with ms.morris my teacher and it is the best museum ever.miss my teacher and that school best ones on earth.
A world-class collection, and a wide variety of special exhibits and events.
Not suitable for kids. The 3D exhibition is open plan and totally hands off. Even when it looks like you're too close security will pounce and we left stressed and not having enjoyed it much.
The Maya exhibit was amazing, a surplus of vessels on which various precolumbian motifs are depicted. Awesome!
It was interesting and my kids had fun in the kids art building. Just to bad you can't take your own pictures their otherwise would have been nice someone in each area telling about the paintings
Cool to go if there is an exhibit you're interested in, or have never been and wanted to check it out. Tickets are about 25$ ish?
Usually not too crowded, and they have a restaurant on the grounds.
LACMA is and always has been spectacular
Please visit
A landmark if you visit LA A MUST for pictures at night .
Wonderful location and facility to visit inside or out.
A lot to see, interesting collections. Multiple buildings. Relax feeling.
The lights go on about dusk. Its a small but lovely display of art work. Lots of people trying to capture the perfect picture. We parked across the street without having to pay because it was a Sunday night. My understanding is that parking is free after 7 pm. The nice thing is there are restrooms and a diner on the premises. Theres also a cute bar and a food truck parks across the street. I'm sure its a different food truck nightly. I recommend for anyone who wants to do something "different". Theres also a live feed from the Nevada Solar Plant on a nearby screen. Its quite serene so sit and watch the camera rotate ever so slowly 360 degrees.
Great for outdoor activities and free summer concerts.
Had a great time here. Volunteers were helpful and the tours were great
I had a terrible experience. My kids were so excited to see a piece of artwork on the wall so I grabbed my phone to capture a photo and as I did that a staff memeber by the name of "Henry" began yelling at my 6 year old for touching the art. Then began yelling at me and accusing me of being a terrible mother. On top of that he shouted that he will embarrass me in public!!!! I understand the part about touching the art work but that is NO excuse for publicly humiliating someone and he had NO right to do that! I am dissatisfied with their staff as they were extremely unprofessional in handling the whole situation. So disgusted and will never go back!
Under the construction, we could visit half with whole price.
Great art exhibits, nice sitting areas, restaurants, architecture, coffee shop and gift shop. Worth the time to visit. Very relaxing
Wonderful museum complex, great variety of exhibits and special shows, spaces are wonderful and large enough to accommodate the grandest of installations.
So unique place really i like it i was there one month ago... Same Welcome Tanzania you will enjoy more
... Same i need friends from USA please if you need to be my friend text me thankx...
Truly moving blends of art including abstract conceptualisation, avant-garde, and classical. A great mix of European, middle eastern, and North American art.
Beautiful art, modern and impressionist, renaissance, and others. Photo op with their outdoor "city lights" display.
Very nice museum
Beautiful exhibitions very well highlighted
It was a very pleasant afternoon. You take the classic photo in Urban Light and you can also be distracted by live music.
Amazing collection of art in LA. Guillermo Del Torro exhibit is fantastic.
Soo many paintings! Are you ready for that one person discussing the intricate mind of an atrist who painted a picture of a dog? Are you ready to stop at that one painting you came to see? Are you ready zip by everything cause that essay for art class is due in, like, 2 hrs? And are you ready to see all those people taking prom/quinceanera/wedding pictures at the lamps? Then stop on by!
Art is cool, so of course this place gets a 5/5.
Be ready to walk and check out the exhibits you want see first. The vr experience will most lilely be book fora very long time, so thats probably the only thing you wont see.
The largest and most complete art museum in the west.
Came for a photo shoot at the urban lights at night. It was great for pictures and people do a lot of photo shoot like birthday, wedding, graduation, etc. Remember to try to take photos inside and outside the light poles, it has different feeling!
Lots to see. Not really my sort of art. Lamp posts were my favorite. It's a lot more art to look at than to interact with otherwise.
Went for Rauschenberg show, but Millennium II is one of the most amazing at works I have seen.
The barriers in the middle of the lawn are emerging seeps.
Wilshire Blvd has the best places to visit in LA...
Lots of stuff closed for construction. Same was true the last time I was here a few years ago. Special exhibits interesting but small. Great permanent collection.
Great place to visit . The art is expertly displayed and has a nice atmosphere. The food and drink here are a bit pricey so eat before or after.
I've only been on the outside grounds. The views are very nice. Specially the lampposts. It's kinda magical. Specially at night righe after it rained.
So much beautiful art-work, well presented with the perk of going to the La Brea Tar Pits next door!
Wow I did not know they let perverts in this museum, People please be careful and be aware enter at your own risk. -5 out of 5

LACMA has been around for many years and is a collection of multiple museums on the property and the famous La Brea Tar Puts. They have a really nice Asian museum, contemporary art museum and many changing exhibits. They used to offer special discounts for AAA members on Saturday afternoons, not sure if they still do that. They also have the famous exhibit of the street light at the entrance off of Wilshire, which is also accessible after hours. It is definitely worth a stop if you are visiting the area. I have been many times over the years and there is always something new to see.
A really great place to visit( and especially the lights at night). Is a must see on a visit to L.A.
If this is your first time in LA, you should bring it with you.
Not something I will do again, but cool experience
Great place for visitors and locals, most art exhibits are free after 3:00 pm some of the most beautiful city views of Los Angeles...its just a great overall cultural experience for the entire family, also the have great summer Jazz concerts, bring your own food & drinks or buy them there. Just go!
I love LACMA. Beautiful art inside a very large campus. It's one of the better museums in CA.
I love seeing what artist create and call art, there are SK many wonderful pieces through out the museum. I took son many with art as the background. My favorite are the urban lights in front. Fun to create boomerangs with.
Oh all of the summer concerts were grate
Lots of fun
nice ART Museum has many famous painting. but recently some of them are not exhibit because construction.
My favourite museum in LA. Parking is a flat $16. general admission is 25
With a California driver's license, it's free after 3pm!
This is a very large museum with extensive collections of arts. I spent two hours just glancing at the paintings and covered only the main floor of the building behind the ticket booth that has 4 floors. And the museum consists of 3 or more buildings like this one. I saw a private collection of Picasso and other famous painters. I'd imagine to spend several days to cover the ground. The residents of LA County get in for free after 3PM every day.
We actually went here for a screening of the Prime TV show The Romanoffs and got to hear a great Q & A conducted by show runner Matt Weiner. Very cool. The museum is known to tourists for the exhibit Urban Light.
A good place where You can learn and explore more about arts
The architecture is as much of a treat as the art. Well worth a visit, rather heavily weighted to more modern and contemporary art, but still a valuable collection of European masters, and furniture, sculpture and photos from many artists. There are also special events and traveling exhibits. The museum is across from the Automotive Museum and adjacent to the La Brea Tar Pits so plenty of stimuli in a short distance!
Several collections of art from all over the world. I was surprised that they didn't have any ropes blocking people from walking right up to the paintings. You can literally touch the canvas, although I don't recommend it as this will eventually ruin the artwork. We made a reservation to see the Turrell "Ganzfelds" light room and it was an incredible experience! You can easily make a reservation on a small iPad next to the ticket purchasing area. We got in immediately.
Awesome place in which you can rest and enjoy a stroll. Have great activities for kids and festivities of all kinds.
Fascinating. They spent like 50 million dollars to move a large rock from way out in a desert, to the front of the building. Interesting display of iron lampposts from earlier days, effective reuse of historical otherwise unreusable items. Adjoins some interesting tar pits.
Well I didn't go into the actual museum I just went to the lights and it was pretty cool very crowded so don't expect to have the place to yourself
Admission discounts everyday for LA County residents. On First Fridays, LA County residents get in for free after 3pm. But, may I suggest becoming a member because it's worth it: free admissions, members only nights, discounts, and easy way to support the arts.
This place is so big and contains so much to see, you may want to spend a good portion of time. Or, if you're a member, you can strategically focus on one building at a time.
The food and drink options here are great. They have the Cafe for casual fare, C+M for coffee, and Ray's and Stark Bar right at the entrance courtyard.
The entrance courtyard is even enough just as a cool hang out spot. The Urban Light large scale sculpture that is synonymous to Miracle Mile is right there, while Ray's offer amazing cuisine, and Stark Bar offers a nice gathering place for cocktails.
Great place to visit morning to night. Just do a quick visit and scan. I'm sure you'll find you're own reasons to stay or come back.
2/6/20 the ticket people here seem to hate their jobs ..they don't smile ..they dont say welcome or thank you ..they snap at you ,"Wear this sticker at all times...we close at 5 " ... Sad.
10/17/19 nice experience XCEPT for one guard ...he had one of those little skull caps on his head ...& he kept staring as if he thought he was superior. I tried to break the ice with a smile but it seemed to make him angry. What does that cap on his head signify anyways ? Whatever.
He should be working behind the scenes.
