The Los Angeles County Museum of Art-or "LACMA",located on historical "Miracle mile"Wilshire Blvd.,in Los Angeles,California is truly a world class museum, center for the education of and conservator of arts.
In its continuing efforts to evolve it's purpose,LACMA is embarking upon a 5 year $650 million dollar renovation, expansion and addition to its facility for the local and global community.

Honestly, I am really not impressed with this museum. The modern art was "meh" and they literally had an exhibit with a bunch of white pieces of paper. I'm pretty sure I could make this "art" and definitely wouldn't pay $16 to see it. Most of it is closed anyway to remodel.

Impressive and with a lot of good art.

Impressive and with a lot of good art.
People watching and a cup of coffee is always an interesting experience.
A lot of floors were closed but thats an art museum I guess.

I recommend you go there.

I recommend you go there.
If you're going to see the exhibit, you'll pay an entrance fee, but you can just walk around.
Some of the exhibition halls may only be open to members.
Korean artist's work is on display

This is a great place to visit although make sure you ask the ticket agent what areas require special tickets, they don't exactly tell you after waiting in line as to where you can and where you can't go. They have many different buildings so make sure to go early to see everything. I'd say at least 2 hours min. Be sure to check out the big giant rock out back before sundown, you can't go see it after dark. But the security guard is always happy to tell you about it and to talk about culture. They also have a couple wonderful restaurants and cafes there too which have awesome food and outdoor seating in their mezzanine. There is also in the very very far side a building entirely dedicated to Japanese art so be sure to check that out too, it's pretty small though we walked through it in about 20 mins.

Make sure you plan your trip on their website because when we went there were a lot of exhibits closed, and although we had fun and still saw a lot, it would've been nice to know ahead of time.

The courtyard was disc-jockeyed, and I discovered my new favorite modern artist. She is so interesting! Julie Mehretu. There are distorted underlying violent images in her work that is covered by color play and calligraphic strokes, showing how we are forced to incorporate the horror of the world into our daily lives. I am researching her now.

I wish more information was available online about all the closed exhibits before visiting. We drove from San Diego during spring break specifically to visit the art museum for a day and more than half the exhibits were closed. The art that was there was interesting and what we expected but the steep price for what we got to experience was disappointing. $50 for entrance to the museum and the $16 parking (which we would have been fine with if it were more than and hour or two visit) we made the most of by trying to extend our visit walking next door to the tar pits and eating outside by the food trucks before we left. Maybe we re spoiled with the Chicago Art Institute or the Milwaukee Art Museum, or maybe the LACMA is better when more than a few exhibits are open.

There is a huge and very diverse collection within these walls. It was so large my friend and I decided to visit twice while on vacation in LA. Anyone who enjoys seeing art from ancient civilizations all the way up to currently active artists can find something here that will pique their interest.

When I went, three of the large exhibits were closed for installation. I felt a little taken advantage of by the high cost of parking and the ticket. Overall very expensive and disappointing. Many of the exhibits are private collections, so it feels less like a museum and more of a shop. The overhanging rock and the lampposts were the most interesting, and those were outside! I d say save your money and see the Getty in detail.

Wasting the environment is what I see from this California Museum they have so many lights on and obviously that energy is waste and a lot of light pollution I mean I could see different times having it on but not all the time and the California Liberals are so concerned with saving energy but yet they really don't practice what they preach here

Located a block away from Hollywood and highland, I'd recommend street parking if you can find it or taking the train. This is perfect for groups or couples, if you don't have your own tripod you can rent one for $7. The have several rooms and I love that they have examples hung up so you know what your picture should look like, my favorite room is the upside down room it is a 5minute time limit in each room so get strategic. Make sure you're getting both the ceiling and the floor so your picture comes out perfect! If you're a local or visitor this is definitely a fun thing to do when visit Hollywood.

I love

Great place to visit but a little pricey for a family of 4. Worth going, though, with advanced planning. Start with parking @ $16 all day across the street. If you have grade school or middle school kids and they're not big on art, maybe skip LACMA and opt for the Tar pits. Consider their annual family membership if you think you'll visit more than once in a year (hey, it's tax deductible). BTW admission here is separate from the Tar pit museum.

Excellent place to be immersed and apprereciate the arts. It's definitely a place to visit and embrace the different interpertations and take the time to understand what the artist is trying to convey. Great for groups and also great for individuals that like to be on their own and explore. If you're a visitor, make sure to mark this as a spot to visit while in L.A.

Such a BAD management. We came here on Wednesday and parked in their garage to visit the urban lights. These people made us to walk around the building that too the furthest route instead of allowing us to walk 300ft. As tourists we had no clue and did what they said, there was 6th street way which was shorter and they mentioned it to be closed whereas it was open. They should either mention that right before parking or provide a way from the parking to the urban lights. I do not know how beautiful is the museum but certainly will rate worst for managing it.

BELLO

Well
