2/5 experience absolutely would not go again unless I had a close artsy friend to explain the absolute absurd exhibits inside. Not much value for money if you re not big into art, I would think even casual art goers would have a better time at the tar pits next door.

Exhibits inside generally are just... there. With a brief description of the object.

EG. If I remember correctly, there was a chair as an art piece. Description: this is a chair from the year XXXX. nice. Admittedly I m not too art so maybe I was unable to appreciate the pieces.

The pieces seemed more aimed at showing remnants of their respective time periods and civilisations rather than inspiring any thought or sending any intriguing messages.

$25 entry, with a few exhibits locked behind membership . Smh.

Really big you need several hours, after the Broad it was too much in the same day but there is so many interesting things to see. Really complete and varied artists artwork. Would come back to see more in detail .

Great museum with seven buildings so requires significant time to cover all. Went on the second Tuesday and it was free. Was told that it is always a free day. Many school children there but that seems to be the situation in many public areas when school is in session. Excellent collection although a few areas and one building was closed. The collection is so big that only a small portion is on exhibit at any one time. . Acouple outside works which should not be missed. Also next to La Brea tar pits exhibit so stop by that. Can park in a lot right across the street.

Revoltingly inefficient. Couldn't book tickets for a midweek visit as their server was overloaded. (What? This is a museum, not Comic Con.) Had to wait an hour in line to buy tickets as the slowest clerks I have ever seen processed of no more than 50 people. (I counted. I had plenty of time.) Strongly suggest the boycott this place until they have installed a competent management actually care about their paying customers.

One of the highlights of our LA trip. Our kids loved it, especially the painting with tempura paints you can do with your kids. Lots of fun exhibits that really sparked their imagination while also wowing us. There are some absolute masterpieces here!!!!

The place is now more famous as a photo spot in the city of Los Angeles. Actually LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States. His art collection is more than 142,000 objects. Museum collections from the past to the present. Too bad there are so many visitors / tourists who only go there to just take pictures - photos on a row of lampposts that seem to be an icon of LACMA.

Come in the evening so you can play around the lights and take pictures. Warning: it's very popular and it may be difficult to get a nice picture without other visitors in your background.

It truly is a nice museum. Definitely worth paying the admission to check out the rest of the museum thoroughly at least once.

This collection is very good, the problem is that they are being rehabilitated and part of the collection is not visitable at this moment, before going it is advisable to confirm that parts of the collection are visitable.

Excellent collection of modern art. The architecture works so well with the content. I loved being able to reserve my tickets for a day and time that worked for me. How awesome that it is free for its regular exhibits.

'Chagall: Fantasies for the Stage'-an illustration of Chagall's contribution to stage work and an opportunity to see rarely exposed works of this master of color and imagination. 'Painted in Mexico'-an excellent show to understand the painting of New Spain in the 17th and 18th centuries. I very much appreciated the art of the portrait.

A world class museum with vast collections across many areas. I particularly enjoyed their European painting collection and the South and Southeast Asian art section (including some gorgeous Chola bronzes). The grounds are very large and nice to walk in. On the day of our most recent visit, they had a Latin music event.

I had heard good things, but was severely disappointed with my visit. There seems to be a focus on quantity over quality, and I didn't find myself wanting to spend nearly as long at each exhibit as I do in other museums. The most interesting exhibits require advanced booking, and even those which you can sign up for on the day closed before 3pm for no apparent reason. I would definitely recommend both Getty museums over this if you are looking for a museum in LA. Also note, parking is very expensive here, even though you also have to pay for admission.

Huge campus with many different buildings. Incredible variety of art. Well worth the price. Plan an entire morning/afternoon here. Spent 3-4 hours and didn't finish all of buildings.

Free for military personnel, and every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Really enjoyed the whole museum. I took 4 hours and still have not finished the entire museum. Will probably take 4.5h to finish everything. The la Brea tar pits is beside too so you will have something to see even if you get bored or finish fast.
