I purchased a Groupon for two nights at this "resort" on 3/11/2018.
The next morning my credit card had been compromised, someone charging $900 to Legoland Florida. I've had this card several years with no fraud. Coincidence?? I seriously doubt it. I truly believe that whatever employee had access to my card info at this resort is the culprit.
Luckily it was cought by the bank and stopped before it went through.
I had my card cancelled and they can shove their business you know where!!!!

A great getaway for families and for events. We used one of their nicer suites and while the room was beautiful, with a wonderful view, it unfortunately had a pest problem. There were ants in our room. Also, there were cobwebs around the room. For the price we were paying, I would expect more polish.

So many different activities availabl, such as a 24-hr gym with so many facilities. They even have a spa l, but sadly I couldn't go there in my visit at this resort. There is alot to explore on this resort, and it's probably going to take more than one day.

It was very nice and relaxing, but if I go back I'll never get room service. Took 3 times to get order correct and for the price it cost...that's ridiculous! That's the reason I can't give it a 5 star.

Stayed here for the Oil Man 1/2 Ironman. The room was decent. The room is outdated and in need of some renovations. The bathroom towels were dirty so that wasn't very nice and made me weary of the entire room. The laundry bag in the closet is definitely used already. The chairs were old with some stains. Overall it was convenient for the race to stay but it's definitely not super clean and needs updates on everything.

I was very surprised to find a nice resort style hotel on Lake Conroe. Bret at the front desk was so nice and so accommodating. We went to relax and we totally did. The pool service was great and the restaurant was very good (a little high but, what do you expect) my only complaint was they had water jugs all around the water park and both days we were there they never filled them. We will definitely be back.

There were a variety of pools and they were properly maintained. The staff was friendly enough but you needed to seek them out. No one came to check up on us and we had to ask a life guard to come by several times even after they acknowledged that they would.

Seems this place is more and more run down everytime I visit. This past experience was during Triatholon weekend. The room we recieved was on floor 12. The whole floor smelled musty and our room smelled of wet sitting water. Turning the air on never helped. The sliding door would not lock which was a big deal for me with a kid. Half the light bulbs, mostly near the front mirror and bar area, were not working. Due to the sliding door not locking, We decided to switch rooms, as we were getting the last of our belongings from the room on floor 12, we saw 2 baby roaches on the wall near the desk. I will definitely never stay on floor 12 again. After uprooting my crew of 4 to our new room on floor 18, we discovered there was no extra blanket in the cabinet, when i went to call, the phone was not working. I went downstairs again and asked politely for someone to fix our phone and to send up the blanket so I may cover the coach for my kiddo to sleep. They said they would send someone, no one ever came. I went down again and got the blanket and expressed to them I was upset at the inconvienience and that we wanted to order hot chocolate but our phone was not working. The lady at the front desk said that she would gladly take care of that for us and that someone would be by to fix the phone the next morning. 30 mins later someone brought us 4 watery hot choclates and a $21 bill for them. Of course I was caught a little off guard as I thought when she said she will take care of it, that she ment complimentary. Of course I payed and made no peep of it. I also did not drink mine as it tasted like a half a melted hersheys kiss in a big glass of warm water. The kids drank theirs. The next morning We ate at a local Ihop as last time we went to La toretta the 157 restaurant was gross. Came back and no one had fixed the phone. Asked multiple times all day that day. No one ever fixed the phone. Was a huge inconvenience as we would have loved to relax and order room service the evening before my husbands Triatholon race. Also, went to play raquetball and had to walk all the way around that building and the spa to the front doors to check out the raquets and balls, which we had to still wait for over 20 minutes as they didnt have enough for 4, then when we went to check them in as they are our responsibility, the spa was closed and we couldnt, and we were on a time crunch and were just going to turn them in when they opened the next morning as we had to leave to meet up others for dinner at a local restaurant and the gym closing time had just approached anyway. By 6am the morning of the race, they had slid our bill including a large charge for all the raquets and 2 balls. We quickly got that sorted out. Would have been much more convienient if we could have left them in the raquetball gym area like it use to be all the other times we have visited. Aside from that, the hot tub was gross, and one hot tub wasnt working, with a mess in the towel area, the grass area in the back was not well kept, and the volleyball net was all torn up. Spiders all in the middle elevator. Also, I usually do not leave reviews. I do not know If we will be back again anytime soon and definitely never on floor 12.

This is my third time staying at the hotel. It is a great hotel! My first time was back in 2010 and it was so amazing back then, you can tell that it's been 8 years but it is all normal wear and tear. They have maintained it beautifully! And the views are to die for. You are truly at peace. Restaurant 157 is a great spot for breakfast and the Spa is the best I have ever been to! Highly recommend this to anyone and always look forward to visiting.

I enjoyed our stay. We have been here a couple times and this last time we had a group on so we said WHY NOT?!?!

We came on a Saturday and spent the day at the pool most of the afternoon. We had never been down the slide so we got to enjoy that as well. What a blast! It's kid and adult friendly. If the waiters at the pool don't come and take your order at first, just ask them whenever they pass you!

We stayed in a cottage and it was about a 5 minute walk to the main part of the resort. No big deal. For dinner, we ventured out to a off site restaurant which was delicious. See other review for that. Playa Azul is name.

The next morning we got brunch at Restaurant 157. Here's why it goes from 5 stars to 4 stars. The wait staff is inattentive. Yes, it is buffet so they don't need to do much except provide you with refills on coffee/juice/water/etc. They were so horrible at this! I ended up just getting up myself and going to get more water and coffee. I'm sure they hated me when they saw me do this but after waiting forever to get a refill, I figured I should just get up and do it myself. It's not like they were swamped in the restaurant!

I reserved a room in 'resort hotel'. Ended up in a golf cottage 2 blocks from main hotel.

Nothing impressive going on here. It's a 2 star level bed, floor, and a 3 star tv and bathroom.

Just sucks they just tossed us in this lame/old cottage instead of main hotel room without any idea.

It has been a bit of time now but I still get livid every time I think about La Torretta. If I could go lower than 1 star, I would.

I live in Austin and am getting married in Conroe and am looking for a host hotel. I scheduled a meeting with a sales manager, Lexi, to tour the hotel, see guest rooms and event space for my wedding later this year. I scheduled my meeting with her 2 weeks out as, like I said, I live in Austin and trying to plan a wedding in Conroe is difficult from so far away, especially for someone who is a retail manager and has odd days off. My drive from Austin to my parents house in Spring is about 2.5 hours and it is about an 45 minutes to an hour to the hotel from there.

My fiance and I took two separate cars all the way from Austin so I could stay an extra day to meet with Lexi, as she had to go back a day sooner than I to work. Our meeting was scheduled for 11a and at about 10:50a I get a call from Lexi expecting it to be her confirming I am coming and to let me know where to meet her. Instead she was calling me to tell me that she did think she would be able to show me any space because they had a hotel buy-out going on (Just in case you didn't know a buy-out is when a large group rents out all spaces in the hotel for their groups own use. HOTEL BUY-OUTS DON'T HAPPEN IN 2 WEEKS, THEY'RE PLANNED OUT MONTHS AHEAD OF TIME). On the phone she hinted as if there was still event space for me to see and as I only had 5 minutes left in what is almost an hour drive for me, I went ahead and went to the hotel to meet with her.

When I arrived I met Lexi at the front desk and she gave me a tour of the lobby then began to show me the pictures of the guest rooms that can be found online... I saw those a long time ago before I even began to inquire about the hotel, I didn't come 3.5 hours to look at pictures printed from their website. She then took me on a 10 minute golf cart ride to show me the outside of more buildings.

Lexi apologized but overall did not appear sincere. She mentioned comping some room nights and having my fiance and I out at the property for a weekend getaway comped. She also said she would 'try' to get me a better group rate. I was told she would follow up with me soon on those things but she has yet to do so. She and I met about 2 months ago now. I'm assuming she just did not want my business.

I booked the escape from the lake suite for my wife's birthday planning to surprise her with the romantic package. Started out GREAT with the SPA who took GREAT care of her. Then the train wreck happened at check-in. We get to the room to discover it's double booked. 20 minutes later after taking the stairs from the 20th floor because the elevators were slow, the staff trys to resolve. After an hour we were offered another room but unfortunately can't make the romantic package because it was mistakenly given to another guest. I suppose you will get a great review from them. Also the new room is a downgraded standard suite. So the front desk manager offers me a to-do another day. Hoping for a better experience for our anniversary. I will happily change my review if this resort makes it right and follows thorough with their promise. Fingers crossed.

Far from clean, service lacking and facilities not maintained. Our room was dirty, cigarettes left all over the patio from the previous guests and the lamp shade was disgusting. Called and they said they would thoroughly clean the room. Came back and they had only changed the lamp out and removed the cigarette trash. Left the room unvacuumed and dirty.

The pool was ok but didn t have any service on Friday. The water slides were off the and adult pool was full of bugs.

Lastly, the ice machine room looked like a public restroom. Floors filthy, gum stuck on the wall and down right disgusting. Made me worried to use the ice.

Overall, if they can t maintain the facilities it makes you question the cleanliness of the restaurants too. We will NOT be back. We came several times years ago when they were first opened and didn t experience anything like this weekend. Huge disappointment!

The room was great when we first arrived. When I got up to shower, it would not work. Calling the front desk went to a voice mail where I left a message and received a reply over two hours later. When I asked at the desk I got lots of I'm sorry and an inaccurate explanation as to the problem and ETA for resolution. Over 12 hours later the water issue was resolved. I understand things happen, but I am not one to raise a ruckus, and it is apparent the situation will not be made right with out one on my part. Toilets and showers are two of the primary reasons we stay in hotels. I could have slept in the car and been as fresh for my new days business.

I recently had a wedding room block at La Torretta and stayed two nights there as well. My experience with the two rooms I stayed in was great. Everything was clean and I was able to check in early with no issues. However, a lot of the guests who attended my wedding at stayed at the hotel had less than stellar experiences. Two guests were checked in to rooms that were never cleaned, and never did get cleaned, therefore they lacked clean linens and had dirty toothbrushes, trash, and other items strewn about the room. Another guest was checked in to a room that did not have heat, which was much needed on an unseasonably cold night. We were also told the hotel bar would stay open as long as there were plenty of guests, this was not the case. At 12:45 they called for last call with at least 20-30 people still drinking and in conversation. When asked why they were closing so early we were told that the bartenders had been there since 2 pm and were ready to go home. Overall I'd say my stay was average at best which I was really disappointed in after planning with them for so long to make my wedding weekend great and give my guests a wonderful place to stay.

Great place to go for a weekend. There is an adult only pool, but also swimming and floating for families. You can rent a water board and get on the lake. There is free putt-putt golf that you can do barefoot if you want. Nice restaurant on property. On the weekend you can enjoy some food/snack while someone plays a piano. The only thing I did not like, both times I went, is the food at the resort diner. Some of the breakfast/lunch or dinner buffet was good but some was not. They could improve in that area so best I can give is 4 stars.

Me and my wife had our wedding here just this July of 2012. It's interesting that we kept seeing negative reviews before we chose this place, because we actually scouted out several venues for our wedding, primarily around Conroe, and this was by far the most suitable. Our wedding director Alana is leaving the company, which is unfortunate, because she did a really great job. She wasn't rude at all, took her time with us, showed us everything at La Torretta. We looked at everything in January when the lake was all dried up, but by the time we got married, they fixed up all the decks and the water was restored. It was absolutely beautiful. Everything went exactly to our plans. The food was REALLY good! I can't say one thing really made me displeased with this venue other than our coordinator was no where to be seen. She made everything happen on time, but it would have been nice to see her now and then. Our DJ "Mobile Music" ended up coordinating quite a bit of the wedding just because no one else was around to do it. He was an excellent DJ btw, really went above an beyond. Anyhow, I highly recommend this venue which made for some awesome photos and memories, but I can't recommend any directors or coordinators. Just meet up with them and hope for the best. If you don't like them, try another person.

The room was nice and clean. The bathroom and bedroom were both especially great. Plus we had an incredible view of the lake. However, despite that...the only redeeming part of the amenities was the food service. We were lied to 4 times about the hot tub being on, despite it being in the winter months. And non of the the other functions of the resort were operational. I wouldn t recommend anyone come here in the winter. Wait till spring or summer when the lake is bearable.

Outdoor pools were great for the kids! Inside was a disaster. The hallways were filthy. Chicken strips and fries were scattered in the hall for over 24hrs and it did not smell good after about 18 hours. Called Housekeeping to clean the room. They removed dirty towels and that was it. No new towels, no cleaning. Called front desk about the food in hall. No one took care of it until about 8 hours later.

Came here for the Lakeside Restaurant. Great views, this restaurant has wall to wall windows overlooking lake conroe, definitely recommend for sunset viewing and dining. Food is great, servers are really attentive. The only knock is food usually takes a while to arrive, but just use that time to enjoy the atmosphere.

My wife and I just returned from a convention week...

My wife and I just returned from a convention weekend at La Torretta. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised and with few exceptions any real negative comments would just be nit-picking.
We had a room on the 16th floor facing the lake which was cool. The furnishings were modern and not the most comfortable for any more than a few minutes, but the bed was one of the best we've had in a hotel. Not too hard and not too soft. we actually got some decent sleep while there.
The hotel staff was just okay, though some seemed lost much of the time. It was obvious to me that this was only a job to many of them. Chances are they don't pay their employees too well and have a high turnover.
The food we had at a luncheon was also just okay. Chicken w/mushroom sauce, but they'd left the skin on and it was not very nice. The asparagus and carrots served were barely cooked at all. My guess is that they passed them over the steam as they served them and that was about it.
The worst was when our toilet clogged with little provocation and it took hours and hours to get someone up there to plunge it.
Of course they have valets and bellhops that need to be greased, but it is possible to self-park and avoid some of those charges.
I don't know if we would go back on our own since it's not really our kind of place, but it was nice. If you like boating and golf (and modern furnishings) this might be a consideration for you to visit.

This place is in a great location with a pretty view of the lake. My kids enjoyed the splash pool and the lazy river, but with that being said.. the resort itself was really dirty. I.e. throw up in the pool bathrooms, that wasn t cleaned up the entire weekend we were there. I also asked FOUR times for my room to be serviced, before someone came and made our bed, but did nothing else. I would expect daily room cleaning and fresh towels and sheets but didn t get that here. The staff at front desk acted annoyed that I kept asking for clean sheets and towels. I personally don t think that is a major request when staying at a resort.

We have stayed here three times and will be there again soon. The rooms were great with a beautiful view of the lake and large bathroom. We have encountered a few issues with staff not knowing or not giving correct information. We always come for the water park and we were told it would be open in late October but they didn't turn on the splash pad until we complained. And we had three families attending a reunion that week. The water features are wonderful for children and the activities are as well. We love the view of the lake, smores around the fire pit and fireworks on some occasions. I have to agree the food could be better and more reasonable and waitstaff is limited. The food by the pool is awful but the restaurant upstairs is good and there are great family restaurants in the area. Also the gift shop needs improvement and isn't always open. I haven't tried the spa yet but hope to.

I've honestly never felt the need to write a bad review about a company even if the experience wasn't up to par, however, after leaving La Toretta today I couldn't wait to get on here to make sure no one experiences what me and my husband went through today. Today was our one year wedding anniversary and we were so excited about our stay until we walked into the lobby. Absolutely disgusting. The lobby was actually cleaner than our assigned room. When I entered the room I noticed it had not been vacuumed or actually cleaned at all. There was a dead cockroach on the ground and almost stepped on it walking into the bathroom. There was white residue crusted on the sheets and pillows along with what looked like dirt and dead skin. I've never in my life felt so uncomfortable. We immediately called downstairs to have someone clean our room, however no one ever showed up. The whole 10th floor was completely filthy. We walked by many guests and heard them complaining of the same thing. Since no one assisted us when we called, we went down to talk to the front desk and they said they would "upgrade" our room. I agreed to give it a try after my husband convinced me everyone deserves a second chance. However, this wasn't an upgrade. This was just a longer ride up the elevator up to the 19th floor (elevator was so hot and crammed because there were only 2 working and would shut on you if you didn't SPRINT into the elevator to get on. Yes I actually witnessed someone get there arm chopped lol). When we walked into the "upgraded" room we see there is now a leather couch instead of a cloth one but now there were bugs crawling all over it!!! Also, white crusted residue once again on the blanket that covered the bed. Yes, we got pictures this time so people wouldn't think we were being crazy. We decided to check out the pool and took bets on whether it was going to be at the same standard as the inside of the hotel. Of course. Opened the gate to walk in, literally a piece of soggy pizza smeared on the ground... a couple more steps, and what do ya know.. a diaper in the towel basket. The smell was horrendous. I tell my husband "ok let's get a drink before we go talk to the front again because I need to calm down". We walk over to the bar that had 1 other guest there ordering, but apparently we are invisible because the girl working the unsanitary bar (trash, sticky counters, cobwebs everywhere) never even looked our way. We stood there for 10 min waiting to be acknowledged and yet not to my surprise... we never were. I officially had had enough.

This is the worst "resort" / "hotel" whatever you want to call it I have ever been to. Yes, the hotel ended up refunding our money which will take another week for us to actually receive, I felt like they really just didn't care about how bad our experience was because it seemed like our complaint wasn't the first one they have received. Their response to us seemed very disingenuous even after I told them very specifically what our problems were and yet no effort was made to fix them. Lucky for us, we drove only an hour and a half to come here but I warn those traveling even farther to be careful about booking here.

The only positive interaction that we had here was with a concierge named Hayden. He was so precious and very very professional and helpful. Thank you Hayden for moving our bags each time and being the only friendly employee we met there!

Try to book a few months before summer, they have some good deals. The staff and hotel are very nice and treated us very well. The other guests were friendly as well. This is a family resort, but the kids were well behaved. The view was excellent. The rooms were very nice, clean, and attractive. Avoid "RESTAURANT 157". The quality isn't great for what you pay. We didn't enjoy anything we had, the three times we went. "LAKESIDE RESTAURANT & BAR" is excellent and you pay for it. It is worth visiting at least once. The salmon and steak was very good. There is plenty of good food off-campus if you yelp or google around. The pool is very neat and has an adults only section which can be nice if you want to relax. It also has slides and a lazy river. My wife and I had a great experience and plan on visiting again. With the understanding that this is a resort, expect that everything here will be more expensive though the experience is generally better quality.

Came and stayed here to start checking out places ...

Came and stayed here to start checking out places to have our family vacations in the future. I won't lie I was a little skeptical since there were a lot of mixed reviews and we had fun and will definitely come back! Unfortunately we didn't eat at any of the restaurants in the hotel and went into town to try some of the local places, but we heard from other guests that they enjoyed the food. Beer prices at the bar aren't bad and I loved that you could get them in a bucket with ice and keep it by you at the pool. It was disappointing that mixed drinks were $13 each and they honestly weren't THAT good for being that expensive. The room was clean and nice and we slept comfortably in the bed. They provided plenty of towels in the bathroom and even had shampoo/conditioner pumps in the shower for you to use. The pools were also nice and definitely family friendly but the water was SOOO warm - definitely didn't cool you down. What helped was it was cloudy and windy and that's what cooled us down more than anything. I prefer my water a little chilly especially when you're under that hot Texas sun, but idk how you fix that. The staff was friendly and attentive and we had fun! Thanks!

The room was not what should be expected for the priced. it needs to be updated. there were holes in the wall, cracks along the ceiling and floorboard with paint peeling. when i finally realized the tv in the bedroom did not work, its was late and i was tired and did not deal with it. My problem is mostly dealing with the staff for charging an extra night on my card and me having to spend 5 hours of back and forth phone calls when i have better things to do. the problem still isnt resolved. ....I was in a wedding on Sunday and booked the room for the night to avoid the long drive home. At least 6 rooms were booked there because of this wedding for at least 2 nights, including a high end room at the top. At the last minute i decided to get a room for Saturday night too. As i was checking out and knowing the almost $500 stay was already paid for i had seen a 3rd night charged on my room. the clerk argued this saying it was for incidentals and was pending on my account and should be removed after 5-7 days. After going back and forth i just decided to finish it when i got home from my 2 hour drive. No one will call you back and its bad customer service. It wasnt for incidentals. The young men who parked my car were the most pleasant people i dealt with at the hotel. ....And its 2pm the next day and still no return call and their phone has been fast busy when i call.

Don't bother. Food was way over priced, rooms have too many spiders and other insects and they love to call you after you think all is settled and call it attrition with fine print in the contracts. If you are considering this place for a business function, don't waste your time.

Sales people don't return or even answer your phone calls. Forget about checking voice mail. Took me weeks to get a clear contract and they still hit me for an additional 1200 dollars when it was all said and done.

Liars, cheats. The place is empty all of the time for a reason.
