Review of la Torretta

I've honestly never felt the need to write a bad review about a company even if the experience wasn't up to par, however, after leaving La Toretta today I couldn't wait to get on here to make sure no one experiences what me and my husband went through today. Today was our one year wedding anniversary and we were so excited about our stay until we walked into the lobby. Absolutely disgusting. The lobby was actually cleaner than our assigned room. When I entered the room I noticed it had not been vacuumed or actually cleaned at all. There was a dead cockroach on the ground and almost stepped on it walking into the bathroom. There was white residue crusted on the sheets and pillows along with what looked like dirt and dead skin. I've never in my life felt so uncomfortable. We immediately called downstairs to have someone clean our room, however no one ever showed up. The whole 10th floor was completely filthy. We walked by many guests and heard them complaining of the same thing. Since no one assisted us when we called, we went down to talk to the front desk and they said they would "upgrade" our room. I agreed to give it a try after my husband convinced me everyone deserves a second chance. However, this wasn't an upgrade. This was just a longer ride up the elevator up to the 19th floor (elevator was so hot and crammed because there were only 2 working and would shut on you if you didn't SPRINT into the elevator to get on. Yes I actually witnessed someone get there arm chopped lol). When we walked into the "upgraded" room we see there is now a leather couch instead of a cloth one but now there were bugs crawling all over it!!! Also, white crusted residue once again on the blanket that covered the bed. Yes, we got pictures this time so people wouldn't think we were being crazy. We decided to check out the pool and took bets on whether it was going to be at the same standard as the inside of the hotel. Of course. Opened the gate to walk in, literally a piece of soggy pizza smeared on the ground... a couple more steps, and what do ya know.. a diaper in the towel basket. The smell was horrendous. I tell my husband "ok let's get a drink before we go talk to the front again because I need to calm down". We walk over to the bar that had 1 other guest there ordering, but apparently we are invisible because the girl working the unsanitary bar (trash, sticky counters, cobwebs everywhere) never even looked our way. We stood there for 10 min waiting to be acknowledged and yet not to my surprise... we never were. I officially had had enough.

This is the worst "resort" / "hotel" whatever you want to call it I have ever been to. Yes, the hotel ended up refunding our money which will take another week for us to actually receive, I felt like they really just didn't care about how bad our experience was because it seemed like our complaint wasn't the first one they have received. Their response to us seemed very disingenuous even after I told them very specifically what our problems were and yet no effort was made to fix them. Lucky for us, we drove only an hour and a half to come here but I warn those traveling even farther to be careful about booking here.

The only positive interaction that we had here was with a concierge named Hayden. He was so precious and very very professional and helpful. Thank you Hayden for moving our bags each time and being the only friendly employee we met there!
