Tried to stay in a couple villas there in May, but the rooms were filthy!! Bugs, bugs, bugs! Customer service was very nice and apologetic and tried to change us to the tower, but upon inspecting the rooms first and seeing dried vomit on one of the curtains, we decided to cancel, get our refund, and leave. Very disappointed that the only resort on the lake is disgusting.

Not enough staff on premises. 1 out of 3 elevators not working on Mother's Day weekend. Restaurant floor was empty, but 30 minute wait for getting order placed. Not well managed. Took 1 hour to get from the 14th floor (had to take the stairs), wait for vehicle from the valet, and then another 15 to 20 minutes trying to get out of the traffic jam of cars.

Ice machine was broken on 2 floors, so had to hop multiple floors for ice. Maybe would expect this from Motel 8 but not a "resort/spa".

The water area is great for kids- not really worth the money. Previous reviews about cleanliness were spot-on (no pun intended). Food was not good- I would not eat at any restaurant on the premises again. Had huge potential but you can tell the owners are just skating by.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I ha...

Let me preface this review with the fact that I have worked in high-end luxury hotels for about a decade, so my expectation to get what I pay for may be a bit higher than most. Let me assure anyone who reads this - while the majority of guests who visit La Torretta do not expect a luxury experience, no guest should suffer what was inflicted upon us at this price point.

Making reservations - It personally took me almost three weeks to book a reservation under the room block that had been set up for the group. No one at the front desk seemed to have access to help me, and no one from the reservations dept. ever seemed to be available. I actually had to leave a different negative review on several travel websites (since removed) to get someone to call me back and take my information. About 30% of our attendees who had intended on staying at the hotel finally gave up and just booked rooms at the full rate on Expedia because they could never get in contact with anyone at the hotel who had the power to help them. Another 20% gave up and booked rooms at other hotels in the area.

Arrival - There is no shuttle to get from any of the local major airports to La Torretta. Unless you rent a vehicle, your only option is to take a Taxi or ride-share service like Uber. An Uber from the airport cost me about $50. Not a major issue for me personally, but it was for some of our out of country attendees.

Facilities - The building appears to be undergoing renovations in addition to cleanup from the hurricane. Not a major issue, but definitely something that should be noted on the website or should have been made aware to guests in some fashion prior to arrival. Most of the rooms our attendees were given have been acceptably clean and kept up. 3 of them should have remained out of service for additional repairs. As a side note, the tiles in the shower are incredibly slick and I'm amazed that I survived 5 nights with no injuries.

Housekeeping - I would recommend that a supervisor follow behind the housekeeping staff and inspect ALL rooms instead of a select few rooms. Corners are being cut and things are getting missed. As an example, the iron in my room was full of rust and unusable. I asked the housekeeper about this and she just shrugged her shoulders and walked away,

Proactivity of Staff - In the time I've spent in this industry, I don't think I've ever witnessed a staff so woefully unprepared and/or unwilling to attend to guest needs. I received better customer service from the general contractors who were working on the hotel's repairs. From the consistent errors in reservations discovered during check-in (including the Bride and Groom!), the Concierge desk being empty during busy hours, the gift shop attendant shooing me out at 3pm because she wanted to close her shop before that evening's incoming guests would be arriving for check-in (posted shop hours say they close at 6pm), and countless other examples, it is apparent that several members of the La Torretta staff just plain do not care about their guests and those that do seem flustered and/or incapable. Frankly, the whole situation was embarrassing to behold. Management should use the remaining down time during the repairs to retrain the majority of staff and perhaps replace some who aren't up to the task.

All in all, this was an abysmal experience and I do not think that a single member of our families will be returning anytime soon and hopefully, neither will anyone who reads this.

We will NOT come back. First time here and it wasn't a good experience. We had our Annual Mother-Daughter Retreat. We booked 5 rooms and received not even SUBPAR service. We couldn't even get our trash taken out or fresh towels for 2 straight days. One room had a dead snake in the middle of the floor and snake eggs underneath the couch. My family was moved to another room, but that room had a HUGE tarantula. Another room had a HUGE cockroach had to be killed by my mother. The beds were not Handicap Accessible. My 80 year old mother-in-law and 70 year old Mother, had extreme difficulty getting in and out of the Slay Bed style beds. The Hotel is under staffed and staff is under trained. The Management is poor. OVERALL it was a horrible experience. The only part that was great was the sunrise and the pool area. Not a 4 star hotel at all.

Have only been here one day. About to go to bed mattress not the same size as the frame not to mention the bed is maybe a total of ten inches off the floor like you laying on an air mattress. Couch is the worst I ever sat on. But if you go to fitness room it is top knock and the couches in three are like a dream. Which make me wounded who gose to the gym to sit on a couch total waste. Figured hell with it i will soak in a hot bath but some sort of black rust is in the water have cleaned the tub three time. Black rust must be in the water so I opped out the bath. If you eat on the property Have your check book it Is expensive but quality is defiantly there sushi bar has to be the best I have ever eaten hats off. Would i stay here again on my dime well will keep you posted. Company is footing the bill this go around.

This place was Great for a weekend getaway for my sons birthday!!! Wonderful room with balcony with Beautiful view of the lake! Loved it. Great pools and lazy river were definitely enjoyed. We did not use the spa or restaurants. Some reviews I read said it was old and needing remodeling, but I do not agree. Just needed some lightbulbs replaced here and there.... Would definitely stay again!

This last stay was our third time there. The first two times were just a short getaway. This last time (July 31- Aug 2), was to celebrate our son's 9th birthday. Check in was a breeze and our cottage was ready and very clean.
Waking up to a golf course as your backyard is just amazing! The lazy river and entire pool area are very clean and staff is super friendly. My husband thought that it was because we were there celebrating our son's birthday, but the fact was that I did not mention anything to any of the staff!
We will definitely come back and will continue to highly recommend La Torretta to our friends.

If I could give zero stars I would. Last week we dined at the restaurant 157, we had the sweetest waitress and the food was fine. My issue was listening to the male manager of the restaurant completely belittle and bully our waitress. You d think someone who is supposed to be professional would at least have the courtesy to correct the waitress behind closed doors, even then the language and attitude he was using towards her makes it no wonder why they are constantly understaffed. I have been an ongoing customer here, but after seeing and hearing that it made my stomach turn. I hope the male manager is fired and the young lady can find her confidence in waitressing again. Very very disappointed in the low level of professional and we will not be returning.

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding about 10 days ago. I waited to see if the hotel would make this right but they haven't. We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. I left 2 dresses hanging in the closet of the room. We called as soon as we realized that they were left. We were told "the room was cleaned but they don't check the closets", "someone is in the room so we cannot check until they leave, they leave in 3 days", "the people are staying for a week", "they do not want their room cleaned so we can't check", "oh they checked out but no one looked and now someone else is the room", "nothing has been turned in" and "lost and cousin bin is empty". Not once did anyone say "we will check the room and cal you back at this time" and ACTUALLY CALL BACK!!! we have called almost every single day!!! Worst customer service ever!!!!! Leaving your belongings in the room was totally our fault but not even trying the HELP us. Poor customer service. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!! Unless the hotel calls and tries to sort this mess, my review is staying up.

After spending over $500 for a weekend in June here my daughter left her glasses behind. I contacted the resort and had to pay $18 for them to ship my daughter glasses back via USPS For a 2-3 day service which only cost $7 at the post office. This resort do not cater to their guess. I always choose Marriott hotels and won't deviate from them again. Marriott always go over and behind for their guess. NEVER AGAIN!!

There were MULTIPLE problems with La Torretta. From the "mishaps" with the contract, to complete miscommunication with the consultant. They didn't even care to ensure the correct honeymoon suite that the strawberries and Champaign were to be delivered. We found the next day that the items were delivered to another room. The communication was horrible and it takes a lot of time to iron out misunderstandings. My bridesmaids and I had to figure out where to sleep the night before the wedding because the bridal suite was (somehow) not booked EVEN when I had to confirmation and payment card IN HAND needless to say this happened with my wedding coordinators room the night of the wedding after she was exhausted and just wanted to get some rest. She had to drive all the way back home because there was no room booked despite confirmation numbers emailed to us. All in all, we made it through but I wouldn t recommend. I actually referred a friend there and they ended up canceling the contract because they were having the same contract issues. A co-worker has a golf club membership there and DID warn me of these things prior to, but I didn t listen. Take my advice, if you want your day (and post-wedding days) to be smooth sailing, KEEP SERACHING and please do not book here!!

We stayed overnight at the resort with the intentions of having a fun family getaway. Our plans quickly changed when we arrived to the hotel and were notified all the kid facilities in the pool area were closed for "off season" --- which is understandable, but it would have been nice to know prior to booking such an expensive room. There is no indication of anything being closed on their website or during the booking process. We were then looking forward to spending time in the hot tub, but the water was cold and had an awful smell. We ventured to the Arcade area. The games were old and run down, it's no surprise three of them took our money without playing. The miniature golf was fun, but once again due to "off season" it had no water in the ponds or fountains running. Lame! The rooms were very dated, beds low to ground, toiletries were random and brands didn't match, balcony was filthy with bird poop covering literally the entire area. The ice machine on our floor didn't work. Hallways dark and unwelcoming. Cafe closed. Gift shop closed. I could go on and on....definitely not worth the money! Their biggest and only asset is their staff. They were very friendly and attentive, too bad the resort ammentities didn't match. I'm actually embarrassed we spent so much money on something that is comparable to a two star hotel.

We have been to several business functions at this location, and outside of the guest bathrooms not having exhaust vents for some reason and the resort charging guests crazy fees to charge an EV during their stay, absolutely everything has been fantastic. The staff is very friendly and eager to help, and the whole facility is very well kept.

If I could give this place a negative amount of stars I would.

First let's start with the fact that it is extremely hard to get to this place. My husband and I drove from Dallas to spend a nice weekend away and to relax because let s face it, people get stressed out. We re driving up to the place and instantly we feel out of place. We arrived a little past 6 o clock on Saturday March 12th, 2016. We parked, and headed up to the front to check in. As we were walking up there we saw a diversity of families and we felt a bit more comfortable. I am Hispanic, my husband is 25% African American and 75% Hispanic. We arrive at the front desk to check in, I ask about a late check out the lady at the front informed me how much more it was and the times that were available, I wanted to pay extra because I wanted to enjoy the time away with my husband and I didn t mind spending a bit more money. We took our bags up to the front with us and the lady informed us that we had our own parking spot since we reserved a cottage. So I left my husband with the bags in the lobby and I went to go get the car. I come up to the front and I call him that I m outside. He comes out puts the bags in the trunk and is furious. Some head custodian had the audacity to go up to my husband and touch him and tell him, Hey man, employees sit in the back not the front. Note, my husband is darker skinned, however he looked like a tourist, he was wearing a t shirt, board shorts, a baseball cap, comfortable shoes and a digital camera around his neck. How dare that ignorant person tell my husband what he did. This is 2016, it is unbelievable the amount of racism and bigotry there still exists in our world. That man is lucky that my husband stayed calm and kept his cool, if it would have been me I would have caused a scene unlike no other. I can assure you I will let everybody I know to never go to your resort. I was born in Houston, all my family and friends are there. You have no idea how much business you lost, there absolutely nothing you can say or offer to make this better. My husband is a decent Human being, he is a police officer, and he would do anything to save another person s life even if they re judging him by the color of his skin. Even after all this happened I still wanted to get a late checkout so we could go to the pool and explore the resort since we arrived late, maybe get a massage. We get a knock on the door around 10 am saying checkout is at 11 am, which we already knew. I call up to the front and ask about a late checkout, the lady told me they didn t have late checkouts available. So, why would the front desk tell me the complete opposite the day before then? You need to make sure your employees are all on the same page with your policy. Either way it was a win for us, you lost our business and everybody I will tell about your resort as well and you didn t get the extra $100 for a late checkout. Congratulations La Torretta you managed to completely screw our romantic getaway, thanks.

Oh and by the way, you re cottages are disgusting, we stayed in room #2254 and there was stains on the sheets, a leak in the roof in the bathroom that came down to the Kleenex and I unfortunately touched them, which they smelled like urine, and there were bugs in the room as well.

This place should not have "resort" in the name. I am so disgusted regarding my stay that I'm leaving this review before I have even checked out. I booked this resort for a fun relaxing Easter weekend with my family and we all have regretted my decision. My room was dirty upon arrival. Hair all over the tub, fresh stains on sheets, hair in the office chair, carpet wasn't vacuumed and bathroom was dirty. I called and ask them to please clean the room the next morning and all they did was empty the trash, nothing else was done. For my next 2 nights my room wasn't cleaned until I called and asked them to clean it and it still was only merely taking out the trash and remaking the bed with dirty sheets. I have gotten better service at an Econo Lodge. My daughter got a rash from sleeping on the pullout sofa that had dirty sheets. There is nothing resort about this place except over paying for subpar food, watered down drinks and horrible service. Think again before you stay here

The only thing I like about the hotel was the pool and water slides. My kids enjoy that and the putt putt golfing. The service was friendly but here is the list that needs to be improved. The room beds are hard uncomfortable the arcade room is horrible they don't need to mention they have one. The breakfast at the cafe inside is horrible and overpriced. The food is processed they warm it up in the microwave not a big fan of wasting food but it was horrible.

I called to confirm my stay about 4 days before and was told that my remaining balance would be charged upon checking out. I come for check-in to the surprise of them wanting to charge my debit card for the full amount from the beginning. Why isn t this in the fine print or discussed when confirming stay? Also, already somewhat upset about that... on my first night here with a girl friend. We get 3 loud knocks to our door at 2 am. We kept telling them to go away but they persisted until we opened the door to a couple that quickly ran off. Confusion or not, what upset me was the call to the front desk to rude DEBBIE that didn t even care to hear what happened or even anything as simple as my name. Her customer service is nonexistent and the front desk is not reliable during the night shift. NEVER STAYING HERE AGAIN.

My boyfriend and I needed a cheap and fun get away. We found La Torretta and it we really enjoyed our stay. They have a piano and a bar above the lobby which makes it seem like a real bar (and gets super rowdy at night), but your rooms are secluded by a huge glass door and you can't even hear all of the noise!!!! All of the people we spoke to at the front desk were very professional and helpful. They had so many fun things to do for FREE. Such as a nice work out gym, racquet ball, mini golf with 22 holes, 2 huge pools, a lazy river, slides, and a kiddy pool. They also have a decent sized beach where they offer paddle boarding ($25 an hour) and also have tanning chairs set up. For the price of a room with a queen size bed all of the free amenities made up for our stay. We were never bored, I could list so much more, they literally have it all!! Definitely recommend!

Nothing to hype about. In their defense we stayed in the winter months. Every staff member we came across was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is outdated and needs some major tlc in the hallways and rooms. We stayed in 2 different rooms in our 6 night stay. The first room had a terrible bed, awoke multiple tines throughout the night and had aches and pains in our necks and backs. We were told all the king size bed rooms have the same mattress so they moved us to a double bed room which was night and day in comparison. Also both rooms had this thermostat that didn't have a specific setting for heat, just a red arrow and a blue arrow. No matter how high up we turned it, it still blew out at most room temperature air. The maintenance staff tried their best to do something but it wasn't enough so the staff offered us a space heater which was nice. The coffee in the lobby was terrible. The walk back and forth from parking to hotel was ridiculous so if you got money use it with valet lol. The elevators need some attention as well, one was down and two others smelled of mold. It's sad to see this place in the shape it's in. On a good note the views are fantastic and the staff is excellent!

Parking is minimal so be prepared to throw down on valet. That's okay. You're at a resort. Expect it. Bottled water in the room is a charge. Even in the suites. But you'll drinking unless you brought your own because the glasses are dirty. The amenities are pretty good. Avoid energie bar if karaoke isn't your thing.

Not sure if we will come back. Third time here. Spent over a thousand dollars and can t even get our trash taken out or fresh towels. Hotel is under staffed and staff is under trained. Ordered warm cookies and milk for our kids and had to call about them multiple times just to receive them. When order was delivered cookies were still frozen. Bar area by pool was a mess and not great service. We paid by cc,

The lake side villa was infested with bugs, small roaches came out of the drains, windows were covered in spider webs with dead and live bugs, out side have small bugs covering the porch! Food was over priced! I have posted some pictures for viewers to see. Also I did get 100$ off my room but it still totaled to about 230$ the front desk attendant mentioned when I was complaining that the lake side villas get bugs but the bug infestation was beyond a few bugs if I wanted to go camping I wouldn't have payed 230$ I am pretty disappointed will make sure to go to the woodlands resort next time I need to take my kids on a short get away! The restrurants are not kid friendly either we had to drive to a restrurant because they told us that the restrurants that were kid friendly were closed this was 630! I'm just highly disappointed

Nice location, great aquatics amenities. Have big pool, adult pool, hot tub, lazy river, water slides. Outside attractions were amazing. You don't have to stay at the hotel to use the aquatics area. Day passes are available for non-guests.

Inside the hotel, not so much. Very hot, flies everywhere. Hotel only would have ranked 2 stars. Fortunately the outside aquatics area was so great it made up for the inside.

I had very high hopes but everything about this hotel was disappointing aside from the room sizes. My son was struggling in the current from the water slide and the lifeguard was so distracted on his phone and had his back turned to the pool for an extended period of time talking to a server. Poolside service was pretty much nonexistent. Waitstaff are few and far between and they don t allow you to bring in food or drinks, which I don t mind if I m actually going to be served. When you go to the bar, you stand and wait to not be acknowledged. Second day, all lifeguards called in so they closed the slide (found out from a server but at first was told it was a maintenance issue although no one in sight to repair). They consistently ran out of pool and bath towels. We won t be returning.

This is a nice facility and could have so much potential if it were better managed.

You know I just didn t really like it for the price. The rooms were very spacious indeed and bed comfortable. But the bathroom was undersized and the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. The two TVs did not work well felt like I was back in the 80 s. Should have been at least 42 4K TV s. Movie selection was very poor. Local tv reception was poor

Parking was the worst. I have a personal commitment that as long as I can walk comfortably that I will not pay for valet. So I asked for the non-valet lot and it was in the rear of the hotel. It had to be 1/4 mile to the lot. Usually not a big deal but with luggage it was horrible.

I will not return

Rained in at Coco Cove.

Rained in at Coco Cove.

So we spent the afternoon rained in at the aquapark and couldn't be happier. In spite of the rain, the waterpark remained open (with the exception of the times they closed for thunder) as did Coco Cove. Clearly the resort did not plan for such a large group braving the weather and understaffed the only bar/grille in the waterpark. Thankfully, they understaffed it with Missy - La Torretta's resident superstar. Missy served wave after wave of unanticipated guests huddling under her cabana out of the rain. A true showing of grace under fire, as her line grew longer so did her smile; her computer system stopped linking bills to rooms, her beer cooler was woefully under stocked, and the bevy of college aged staff hanging out at the end of her bar, unable to lift a finger to help - at least until the rain stopped - did little to deter Missy's spirits.

We noticed. A lot of us noticed. And as Missy went from guest to guest in a flurry, hustling to fill orders, we commented amongst ourselves. Employees like Missy, who do their best to turn a potentially bad situation into a great one, are the reason guests come back year after year. Hang onto her. And if you happen to find yourself at La Torretta, drop by Coco Cove and ask for Missy - she'll take care of you, rain or shine.

Thanks, Missy!!

After seeing so many bad reviews..I was a little scared for our weekend getaway but decided to give it a chance. I'm so glad we did. Our parents enjoyed the time away from home..even if it's just an hour away. Check in was at 4PM but we decided to get there early to enjoy the water park as much as we could. After getting wristbands around 12PM on Saturday..the front desk lady (did not get her name) gave us our room keys meaning they were ready. What a nice surprise! Transportation from the cottages to the water park was very convenient. One of the guys that picked us up was nice enough to give us a tour of the place, pointing out where the heated pool was. There was hardly a wait to get picked up from the cottages or from the water park to the cottages. The water was a bit cold, but you can thank Texas weather for that. We did see a lot of kids in the adult only pool..but hey it was the only heated pool..can't blame em! The cottages were cleaned..we had enough towels..enough blankets. The smores by the lake were awesome..although they were scheduled at the same time and same location as a wedding, oops! We had no trouble getting to the place..google maps takes you directly where you need to be. As far as the food..we brought our own so I can't say much regarding the restaurants. We will be back..hopefully in the summer once it gets warmer.

Worse customer service ever! If your planing an event I suggest you look elsewhere where. I had to play phone tag with the sales office, they confirmed they had availability for a room block and after having to call back over and over ...they said they were sold out. One lady said the other lady didn t know how to look at the calendar properly... it was a JOKE! If you decide to work with this place get a bottle of Advil ready and avoid speaking to Trish or Monica who are both clueless .
