JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort and Spa Review

The whole experience of staying at Marriott was absolutely phenomenal. Words won't be enough to describe the pleasant surprise and warmth I received from F & B Supervisor Swapnil Patel. As soon as I checked in my room, I received a very beautiful tray of chocolates and a handwritten card which left me mesmerized. I was still trying to absorb the ambiance and calmness of the place when another great thing happened. Since I am lac to vegetarian, there were not too many option were me for breakfast. However, I was overwhelmed by the gesture of the supervisor ( Swapnil Patel) and the staff as they made me an egg less french toast, egg less muffin and tofu omelette.The customer service that is provided by this resort is unbelievable. They go above and beyond for guests and make them feel like home! I received many Plus ones from the staff. I would say it was a fantastic weekend for all of us because of the positive vibes and genuineness that I received. I would love to go there again and have that pleasant experience! Most thanks to the supervisor.

Great place to spend winter holidays with the family. Lots of activities for kids and nice pool.

The accommodations were great. Food was good too. The place was clean. It was cold in April still but the facility was warm and comfy.

Comfortable and spacious rooms. Spa, athletic center and Indoor/outdoor pool was open during winter season. Multiple restaurants in house with a variety of meal options and the Chefs are very accommodating. Located on lake Rosseau, there is a nice view and a cozy theme.

What an incredible personalized experience.
My wife and I were at the JW for her Birthday (which we mentioned in passing when we checked in) and Hayley subtly took note and had a very kind card and dessert sent to our room while we were out.
A+ for attention to detail.

Best location, there are different rooms in different floors, our room was surronded by trees and we didn't have any view but the rooms with a view to the lake or all corner rooms are excellant. Room services were good but they put everything for two persons while they rented each room to 4 person, I mean each room could be used by 4 but the sevice was all services including breakfast was for 2. The workers were all excellant and very responsible too.

Beautiful! Great Staff. Need to get rid of or get control of the seagulls. They were vicious and awful on the dinner patio.

Great resort. Went for a work conference, the atmosphere and food were excellent. Was hoping to go for a hike but couldn't really find an adequate trail nearby, really the only drawback.

Rooms are great it stops there. Noisy heater fan in room. Sewage smell on my floor today. First ones in restaurant...served 2 hours later we got our supper...after almost 20 people in our group arrived 30 minutes after us. They ate and left before our main course arrived. Complaint to server and supervisor met with a flippant attitude. Upon arrival would not accept my SPG rewards card but gave points to others in same group. Lunch made me feel ill. Supper meat was burnt outside, rare in middle instead of well done...not a memorable experience and no staff that I notified of the problems reacted to rectify the issues.

The JW Marriott Rousseau is beautiful and an all around great experience. With multiple restaurant options and plenty of things to do, even though we only spent the night we were completely satisfied. Booked to spend our one year anniversary together the staff at the Muskoka Chophouse knocked it out of the park. Personalized card, truffles, and amazing creme brule made the experience totally worth it. The filet was one of the best steaks I've ever had. All around this resort was awesome.

Had to complain about a loud neighbour at 1am. Mentioned this incident at checkout because it had a direct impact on the quality of our stay and the person at the desk said "I'm sorry to hear that. Here's your bill." With such high rates, I would expect a higher level of service.

Beautiful property but lack of skillful service and disappointing food.

Amazing property with lots to see and do. The salt baths were amazing. We dined at Teca and it was just ok. The food was good but nothing great, however the service was very friendly. My family and I will try again next time as maybe it was just an off night.

We have stayed at this hotel for years but recently this hotel has lost staff that have quit, been unable to service guests, been inable to check check in people at check in time (4pm)Today we arrived at 4pm and were told we may not get a room after pre paying for two nights. How disgusting. I will no longer be recommending this hotel. It has lost its flavour and staff are working crazy hours to get rooms ready but cant keep up. Just not enough help to keep up with the demand. That to me says time to go home.

Great stay , food and service awesome,
Only beef is that majority of activities were booked by a large group .So we just jumped in a canoe ! Which is free . So if your planning a vist book activities and spa in advance

Awful experience, service and stay. I believe the Resort has changed local management. I really enjoyed coming here with my family historically, but the last stay was beyond terrible. Friends and colleagues have been there since and have echoed the same negative comments and were extremely disappointed, particularly with service. Don t recommend at all!

Great hotel, if it wasn't for the comfort inn service!! For over 500$ a night, this hotel does provide great ammenities and large rooms. But the management and staff are terrible!! We paid for a room and got one smaller and not what we paid for. We showed our receipts and even provided our confirmation sheet etc. and due to the hotel fully booked, we were unable to get the room we paid for as they had already assigned us a studio room. Not acceptable at 500$ a night. They never compensated, apologize and accused us of lying at first about our room selection.
There are several hotels in the area and by far, this is the worst service we have EVER gotten from a JW marriott or higher end hotel. We go about twice a year for weekly stay, which we are now relocated to a better hotel nearby. SAve your $ and go elsewhere if you want great service and food that doesn't taste like it was out of the freezer!!! Service and ammenities have gone down over the past few years. They used to brew Starbucks, now it is Folgers. Food used to be fresh and tasty, now all frozen and not well presented/cooked and overpriced. Pools were CLOSED 2 days out of our trip as they claimed lightning was in the area however, one of their pool was open anyhow and they refused to staff it. Housekeeping every second day. All about $$.
You do NOT get what you supposily pay for. Stay away!!!

Wonderful hotel. Restaurants are fabulous. Great for families and events. We go every year for a mini getaway.

Ahh what an amazing place to visit. I went during March so it was quiet and peaceful. I had the whole pool and hot tub to myself. What an experience to be swimming outside when there is snow on the ground! I had a spa treatment which made me feel super relaxed and I enjoyed the sauna and steam room to every degree. I cannot wait to go back!

Our rooms were amazing! A nice fireplace and wonderful bathroom! Staff was friendly and helpful! I would definately come here again if I get the chance!

We were served by Natalie and she was excellent. She made the best latte and cappucinos.. Australians do make really good coffee... the service was top notch... when we were walking around the grounds we met someone who maintain the place and he was really nice and greeted us as well... you will see staff as well checking and making sure the place is in excellent condition... amazing views... relaxing place...

Excellent resort, rooms are clean and well maintained. Plenty of activities to do, plenty of outdoor and indoor pools. Small Beach area is perfect for kids to play in. Three places to choose from for dinner. One place for breakfast, but the service is extremely slow if you choose a la cart option.

Worst customer service i have ever experienced. Daughter stayed one night , accidentally left 2 jackets and a vest in the closet. Called the next day and reported it. One jacket has been returned but the others are missing? How does that happen when they all were hung in the same closet. It's been a month and still haven't heard anything more! Brand new jacket and best just vanished.

A very nice resort with good food at around 20+ per meal per person. The view is great and in winter you get a free snowshoe rental which is a nice bonus. Staff are friendly and helpful. The reason I'm giving four stars is that I did not go to the spa/pool so I don't have enough information on the rest of the resort.

Was just there for my son's wedding from October 6th to October 11th. it is a beautiful place but sadly not managed very well. it was a holiday weekend and poorly staffed. there was a very long wait for rooms. I lucked out coming early but they cancelled my daughter's room by accident. Thank goodness there was a room but it took two times to find a clean room. The first one they sent me to was dirty. The second didn't have sheets on the second bed. Our room was never serviced the entire time we were there. I actually went to the cart sitting in the hallway and took fresh towels and items that we needed. The beds never changed or made. We did all that ourselves. The brunch was not fresh and very expensive. The messed up our reservation and we had to wait for tables to open up. . Most were leaving so they either left or had a single table instead of the brunch that was planned in advance. It took forever to get waited on for lunch. Again they were short staffed and the waiters were fine but the place was jammed and not enough people. The wedding was fine but the reception had some issues. They didn't prepare the food as was ordered. The cake was set on a table against the wall and it was dark over the cake. You could not see the cake unless you were looking for it. They also didn't cut the cake. Once my son cut the cake they never took it away and cut and plated the cake. They threw away all their favors and made the bride and groom jump through hoops to get things back. He will also post a review as to his thoughts on the Marriott. They seriously dropped the ball. The wedding planner hired through the Marriott never saw to the cake and actually left early without telling them she was leaving. The wedding was beautiful and everyone had a good time but the bride and groom certainly didn't need these headaches on their big day.

Considering their over inflated price during this pandemic I expected a must higher service level. The venue may be above average but the service does not match it, there are better alternatives in the area I would recommend.

Beautiful views, amazing customer service, clean, luxurious, and relaxing.

We had an amazing time at the resort. Service was excellent, and we made a new friend with one of the staff members. Troy is an excellent asset to the company and he made us feel extremely welcome and we won't forget that. The views were beautiful. Lots of trails around the area, pool was heated and it was nice that it connected both the indoor and outdoor pool.

We had a room overlooking the lake and pools which was very nice. The room wasn't ready when we arrived and the front desk was very appoligitic for the delay and quickly offered a resort credit for the inconvenience. The food in the restaurants is excellent and there are lots of family and adult activities to do. We didn't like 2 things with the hotel 1. The pillows were extremely soft and 2. The music being played live in lobby area was very loud and you couldn't have a conversation with the person beside you. Other then tgar it was an excellent weekend away and would return again!

Trying to book this place is like highway robbery. Been trying to book our anniversary here for the past couple days (trying to make a decision on what type of room/dates) and the rates keep increasing by the day. Tried calling to see if I could get a better rate but it was even higher. Being a BONVOY member has absolutely NO rewards. Whoever is at Marriott head office need to get checked.

I stayed nov 9 2019. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent service. Amazing cocktails. We ate at the italian restaurant. The service was amazing there and the food excellent.

Beautiful resort, went there to spend spring break and had an amazing time, as soon as we arrived I found out we were upgraded to the 1 bedroom suite from the family suite.

The activities are abundant; maple syrup tasting, snowshoeing, nature walks, hot chocolate & marshmallows, art & yoga classes, to laser tag & horse wagon rides.

The rooms were clean, service was quick and the restaurants more than adequate, which is what you'd expect being in the middle if nowhere.

Swimming pool was warm and fairly clean, if there was anything to keep an eye about; its that some of the activities are free while others are reasonably priced as well as the open buffet, but these add up quickly with the +++ taxes & fees.

Otherwise a 5 star experience for our family of 5.

Place was amazing. We waited from 5 to 9 for dinner . The apatizer was frozen in the inside we told them brought back another try a little burnt. Not tasty. The outdoor heater was not working so they offered blankets only when asked. Horrible horrible dinner experience not worth the money for food.. breakfast was better but for 5 pancakes thats very tiny was overpriced

This Resort is not only beautiful but they also treat you like gold. Great facilities and very good food. I will be back to enjoy in the summer. Thank you Lauren for making our trip even more special.

Great + clean room! The staff was all very friendly and helpful, in the spa, the Italian restaurant, and housekeeping! The room we had was big and well lit. Big comfy king bed and a really nice bathroom too!

JW Marriott was a customer of ours and never paid their invoice. We've been chasing them for a year with no response. no one picks up the phone either...Bad experience

Great resort on a scenic Lake. Rooms are spacious, we'll appointed and comfortable. Food is fantastic and the spa is awesome. You won't be disappointed.

I gave it a 1 star as I can't choose zero. This is one of the worst locations of Marriot. I love Marriott but I will never go to this one. They are rude to their new staff, disorganized, and the communication between departments is horrendous. Dishonesty is quite apparent and there is no support. I can't even believe it has the Marriott name.

Such a wonderful resort in the perfect place. Rooms were immaculate and the service was excellent.

First visit at JW Marriott for a mini work trip, four of us stayed one night and we had a wonderful experience. Rooms were nice, service was friendly, food and drinks were amazing. Would love to come back and bring my husband sometime in the future!

Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. The room had all the comforts of home and more. The amenities and sights were quite amazing as well. We enjoyed things like a late night outdoor hottub visit, an RMT Massage in the spa, and a delicious and breakfast in the main lobby restaurants.

It is always a treat to stay at this resort. Their customer service is exceptional, the resort is well kept and the food is absolutely amazing!

What a place, and it should be given the room rates.

Gorgeous resort, but does not live up to JW standards. Spa hot tub not working, no running water for several hours (resort wide), dirty silverware, inattentive server at breakfast. Awesome front desk staff, incredible rooms. Very nice resort but not worth the high prices.

Disgraceful food quality! Chicken wings looked and tasted like they'd been prepared the previous day.

Such a wonderful place with unlimited options of outdoor and indoor fun. Very happy with the staff, location, and activities. I love going at least once a year, of course different season. Here s some photos of the winter vacation.

Very pleasant stay, the room is very spacious and clean. Love the heated pool which is both indoor and outdoor connected by a swimmable path. Also have a jacuzzi outside. Ordered fish and chips for lunch and it was delicious. Fried to perfection and wasn't greasy at all. Also ordered the chicken grilled cheese sandwich with Caesar salad on the side. The salad was light and not overdressed. The sandwich was super crispy and cheesy with the right amount of chicken.

LOVE this resort! Its expensive but makes you feel as if you were on a vacation somewhere in the tropics - very clean, friendly staff, amazing activities (most of them are included for free), great gift shop and the most beautiful view!

We had the opportunity to come here for our work retreat. The people working at the JW really try to give a great service to anyone. They are very friendly and try to do their best on requests. The food has been fantastic and the rooms are great too. I would love to come back on a personal trip as well.

Too many kids, pools and beach are crazy busy, so are restaurants...not that they return your message to make a reservation. Think JW could invest in a proper answering service or train their staff to return messages? Three times for dinner reservation and trying for a spa appointment as well. Easy money lost JW. Food is standard. It's too bad as its a beautiful location and hotel is quite nice.

Beautiful hotel in a privileged location. It is really a shame bar management is not professional and not prepared to deal with corporate guests. Probably ok if you are on a personal visit, but definitely not on business. In fact, one particular manager worked very hard to make absolute sure you knew you were NOT welcome. He was rude and disrespectful. It became clear the events team and the hotel management are not in the same page and their internal conflict has resulted in customer dissatisfaction.

I would strongly encourage any company considering to have a corporate event at this hotel to make sure their internal conflicts are being resolved before you make your decision. As for the hotel management, I would recommend you should make a decision whether or not corporate events are something you are willing to pursue. If so, some serious training is needed for your managing staff in order to learn how to deal with business people.

The resort is beautiful and service is excellent. We were upgraded to a 1 bdrm suite and the quality of the rooms, decor and amenities are unmatched.

last year in summer, the experience is good, compare the price in summer, I would say the winter is also amazing, nice location. very good balcony

Rooms are clean and staff are available to help.. As long as you're polite about it! They took fries from their menu and replaced them with kettle chips :(. Most rooms have a great view and lots of activities.

Not wheel chair friendly from what I've noticed.. But still wheel chair accessible!

Was there to tour the resort as a possible wedding venue. From the time we arrived we were in awe of the beautiful views. The staff was fantastic, very professional and helpful. The common areas are very comfortable and inviting, and the private reception rooms we saw looked great for just about any event. We toured the guest rooms their basic room was much more than we expected with a fireplace with chairs, galley kitchen, and two beds. The two bedroom suite was incredible; fireplace, living area, two bedrooms, full kitchen with breakfast bar island, and a large wrap around balcony that looked out at the water.

Beautiful hotel and location... Food and service not up to par... What can you expect when you hire 90% international students that are not trained... Smarten up Marriot!

the weather was a bit bad so unable to fully take advantage of everything they offer. the food is good, the staff is very friendly and helpful. the rooms are very nice. the common areas are beautiful. they have board games people can use. I've never seen so many people enjoying common areas of a hotel. very welcoming!

Great experience. Before we dropped the honeymoon card we got upgraded to a balcony room as well as wine brought to the room with a personalized card. Room was clean and comfortable. Did a couple spa treatments. Facial = amazing. Relaxing massage was ok, make sure you ask for a registered massage therapist if you want to claim it through insurance and book treatments early! The hot tub in the spa area for the ladies was cold, a couple people complained but it stayed the same. Indoor/outdoor pool was nice. We had dinner at the Teca Italian restaurant which was delicious! I would definitely come back. In a great location. I could see the summer being packed! A November weekend was great!

Absolutely the most beautiful resort in muskoka.

If you're in muskoka book a stay at the Marriot.

There's nothing more "Muskoka" than the JW Marriott on Lake Rosseau! The decor is filled with Canadiana from cozy fireplaces to warm wood floors and furniture. There are 5 restaurants and a market store and every meal was a culinary delight yet lots on the menu for the less adventuresome. My fav breakfast item was turkey apricot sausages. But, let's not forget the main attraction...the vista's of land of lakes was simply amazing. Don't forget the spa for some relaxation after a long hike.

The staff are very friendly and readily willing to help you out no matter what it is. The room was more than I drempt it would be. Beds are very comfortable. I would highly recommend this place. The spa was amazing.

I was very disappointed in my $75 pedicure. Very mediocre for the price.

Extremely scenic location especially in the fall. Rooms are spacious and staff very friendly. Was here for corporate event but have previously been here for personal stay - still mesmerized by the spectacular scenery.
