This place is fantastic, the best part was the staff anything you wanted was granted. We smashed a glass in our kitchen and they were up in less than 5 minutes to clean it up. Most outdoor amenities were close on our weekend (one week before May long weekend). We still had a great time. Restaurants are great. Will be going back to this place again.

Incredibly beautiful resort built in a totally natural environment. The amenities are first class and comfort and luxury are everywhere. The View !Truly a must experience. We only had Sunday brunch there but we enjoyed it immensely.

Stayed for 3 nights with my family in August. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. The hotel does a good job of spreading people out so it never feels overcrowded. They have great amenities and programming. Highlights were making s mores in the fire pit and playing with the kids on the sandy beach. They offer some great free water sports, but plan to spend an extra few hundred on some daily activities to take full advantage of what they offer. The restaurant service was a little slow. I know it was peak season, but we did go mid week and the restaurants weren t even close to even half capacity, yet it sometimes took 40-60 min to get our food. It was difficult for the kids to wait this long. This wasn t my first time here and it won t be my last.

View is amazing, facilities top notch. Trouble is with the service. Big trouble. Staff is friendly and sometimes very good, but half our encounters were at 30% normal speed. Very frustrating, like no one owns the customer as you sit there orphaned. Especially considering it's $$$$. And with all staff wearing masks you can't find your slow moving server. Not a big deal if you aren't in a rush, but when your steak is served and you have to wait an extra five minutes for them to get your cutlery.... Bell hop still not at the room after 20 minutes to get the luggage at low peak time and it's not like they were busy with others. Meantime you try to call the hotel to discuss a billing issue and the number goes to marriott HO. there's no way to get thru to the front desk billing and they are the only ones who can answer the question. Fix your call routing. And considering 90% of the serving staff are from Delhi, maybe you should put at least one indian dish on the menu if only to be congruent. Was craving lamb vindaloo or butter chicken for pavlovian reasons. Big food tease to have no options.

Incredible stay. The staff here go above and.beyod to make your stay memorable. The spa is unreal, facilities are great and readily available. The indoor/outdoor pool was amazing, especially at night. And Teca was a great restaurant with amazing waitors. Outdoor fire pits, beautiful views, this place is a must see.

We absolutely loved this property. Hotel was very clean and staff was helpful. Location is great with only a 15 minutes drive from Port Carling and there s lots of activities to do for a family.

Very put off by the UNDISCLOSED MANDATORY INTERNET TAX of $40.00, conveniently you EXCLUDE this from advertised quoted price, yet we have not choice but to pay it. It wasn't until I pulled out my visa did the telephone rep tell me about this extra hidden detail. Bottom line, I have no intention of using your internet this weekend because I have my own connection, however thanks to you I will be subsidizing your little scheme, helping you keep your costs down for all the OTHER guests!

Christ!!! even Starbucks has free internet and they aren't charging me 400/night!!! Your customers deserve more then this.

The room is very nice and well equipped, we had a great evening at the Italian restaurant Tica however how disappointing was the chop House! We were offered the worst table of the house... couldn t see our menu because it was so dark while sitting by the door... we asked for another table and got a slightly better table Howe the service was poor and the food overpriced. Would go back to the hotel but never to that restaurant..... ever! Huge disappointment

Excellent quality and service.
The staff actually stop in mid way of what they are doing to ask if you need a assistance.
The staff are extremely professional and polite and the hotel is spotless.

Incredible venue. Unbeatable view, especially if you get a room facing the lake. Food isn't too badly priced, although it IS a luxury resort so expect a premium.

Staff was very helpful and friendly, and rooms themselves were impeccable, clean, spacious, and very updated.

Will definitely be going back.

Beautiful resort. We got a balcony and lakeview suite and it was lovely. We enjoyed the activities available on the property such as biking and canoeing. There were nature trails closeby. Although we didn t get to use the spa and pool as they were not open, it was still a highly enjoyable stay!

I m giving it a 4/5 stars only bc I found some disturbing news about the timeshare properties here and I feel bad for the original owners that purchased units before the bankruptcy. At $600/night during high season, this resort claims to be breaking even as an excuse to not pay out profits to the owners which is a little ridiculous. Beware interested buyers of this property. It is not a good investment!

My wife and I received a couples message spa day for Christmas. What an experience this was. All staff was very courteous and friendly. Spa facilities where superb. Steam bath, sauna, jacuzzi and relaxation room where all top shelf. The message is the deal clincher. Afterwards there are several options for drinks and food. Highly recommended for everyone.

My husband and I absolutely love the JW Marriot Muskoka! For the past five years we've gone up annually, and every time we are treated with fantastic service. The resort is clean, spacious and welcoming. One of our favourite parts is going for a dip in the outdoor pool, that's perfectly heated no matter what the time of year. The breakfast buffet (generally available on weekends) is AMAZING. I had the best omelette of my life there a few weeks ago. We really enjoyed the food from Lakes and had a relaxing evening by the fire with a bottle of wine and a board game. The staff are always so kind and helpful. I highly recommend!!

This has been on my list for ages and I am so glad I was finally able to go as the whole weekend was incredible. We went in November which was a little chilly and had snow but the views were incredible. I had mentioned it was our anniversary during the booking and when we arrived we were surprised with a complimentary bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, balloons and a card. It was a very nice gesture and made the stay that much more amazing!

We rarely left the resort as there was ample amenities and everyone was extremely friendly. The staff were great and helpful. The rooms were clean and luxurious including the bathrobes.

The only minor downside was the pool wasn't as hot as expected especially considering it goes outside and the hot tub was filled with kids having a snowball fight (even though it was almost 8pm) but this was a very minor setback and didn't affect our trip at all.

All in all it was a great experience, very relaxing and I would love to go again in the summer to experience a different setting.

Located in a secluded area, great scenic drive and views of the lake while on the property. Great place to be in summer, but I mostly enjoy the fall trips admiring petty colors display ( less bussy this time of the year).
Nice rooms , clean, good service, a couple of good restaurants on the property, couple of pools and spa. A bit pricey but is to be expected in a great Muskoka area.

Wonderful location and property and good overall service although many staff in training gearing up for the busy season ahead. Came up early May. Max at the Valet front bellman was exceptional! Nicole Hudson in hospitality was also amazing and sweet.
David Dong the F&B manager didn't do enough in my opinion.
The main bar was under renovation and so was the Chop house restaurant which the menu was added to their Teca restaurant. Food and Beverage department still have to sort out service and food timing. Food is nicely presented but the taste execution isn't quite there yet...Some of the better dishes were the Lobster ravioli, crispy artichokes appetizer and the seared scallops.

The price to quality ratio at this hotel is totally out of control. I have no problem with paying for premium quality goods and services but this hotel offers neither. As many other reviewers have also noted, they are understaffed and the service times reflect it.

$16 for the crummiest frozen hamburger I've eaten since I was a child, $35 for a very mediocre lukewarm dinner buffet. It's insulting.

At the end of the day when you don't put quality behind your prices you hold contempt for your guests.

Location and views are great, staff are super polite and accommodating. That is it. Everything else comes with a problem.

Extremely slow service, dirty rooms, mistakes on food orders. $60 breakfast that is worse than Cora's, not picked up calls to concierge, dirty pools.

That is the experience that you need to prepare yourself for in 2020 in this location.

The only thing luxury about this hotel are prices.

Beautiful hotel in a very serene setting. Our room had a view of the frozen lake rosseau. We had a small kitchenette and two queen beds. Amenities in this hotel are impeccable!outdoor pool that is open all year round. Swimming and hot tub in the winter is a must experience. 3 Restaurants in the hotel though a bit pricey but the food is excellent ! Staff are always very welcoming and friendly.wouldve given them a 5 but the breakfast buffet was so not worth $24.95.

Initially gave this hotel a 4/5 however after my experience today with the Spa Rosseau manager , i was very disappointed. She was very unprofessional and charged me the cancellation fee even though, I was not made aware of the 24 hour notice. I tried to reschedule but she refused to accomodate it even though the date i was requesting was a week from now.

Had a great time, staff was very friendly. They rotated through several excellent chefs in the kitchen. Chef was able to handle my dietary needs accordingly making delicious dishes that were dairy free.

Very clean place and friendly staff. Food and drinks are very expensive. Would not recommend to students or teens, cross the street and go to Cleveland's House. Not much to do here other than tan and enjoy the view. Would be ideal for a family with lots of disposable income.

This is my second time at the resort and I love it here! Lots of fun activities for families with children. My first experience was so good so I decided to return this year. But am a little disappointed this time. I had requested for an early check in although I understand it's not a guarantee, I would assume they set as a priority. I informed the resort I will arrive at 1pm and when I arrived my room was not ready. I had to wait until 4pm (which is there regular check in time). They should not allow guests to set such requests if they aren't going to even try to accommodate it. I have previously recommended this place to friends and families and they enjoyed their stay as well. The customer service I had was perfect last year but this time around is a different story. I might just move on from this resort and try out others next year...

We have been there on 25th and 26th of August 2019 .Overall view .location.food. Service was very good but what made it special for us cooperation and understanding of Front desk Hotel named Lais on the last day of our stay. She is one of a kind very sweet and helpful.
Our Room number 1417

Being very generous with this 3 star rating.

Being very generous with this 3 star rating.
Some nice features, good staff.....BUT.
The amenities leave alot to be desired, restaurants are typical and Teca in particular served food that was inedible, food salted to the point of not being edible... very expensive waste of time.
The suite was dated and in need of repair eg: curtains falling, stained ceiling tiles and generally unclean.
The most concerning part of our stay was how unkept the property was concerning covid....our suite windows and doors had so many finger prints and had not been cleaned in a long time.
Also, during our whole stay we did not see, AT ANYTIME, staff cleaning or disinfecting ANY touch services....not once....this is during a very concerning time in the Covid 19 pandemic.
We are not picky traveller's and stay at many Marriott locations around the world... this one unfortunately, left alot to be desired, will watch and monitor to determine if we ever return again.

This place is nice. The pools are good. The rooms are nice. But, for the price, there should be a breakfast. Also, the hide-a-bed is the worst thing our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) have ever experienced. It's so bad the front staff even made a comment of warning regarding it. It's a useless bed, not even an option. (Our children are currently sleeping on the floor.) So if you book a room/suite and told I can hold 4 because of a hide-a-bed, don't believe it. Also, the mini fridge makes a horrible noise during the night. Also, the dishwasher only works if you forcefully dlam it shut (the staff showed us how to slam it).

We took our daughter in law to be out for lunch yesterday. Sat on the patio in the sunshine. The view is spectacular!

Brian the bartender, served us. He was warm and friendly and the food was spectacular. If you want a lovely Muskoka experience, go to The Rosseau.

I only attended the Rosseau for breakfast/lunch, but i found it to be a very welcoming and beautiful hotel. The dining area had great service, plenty of room for the many guests and visitors, and great food.

It was a nice place and we were provided with an unexpected upgrade when we arrived. Three stars because the mattress was very uncomfortable, food was mediocre and overpriced, and there were children doing canon balls in the hot tub. The whole point of that trip was to get away from my own children - not be splashed by other people's children

We had an amazing experience at the JW during our December honeymoon. Dinner at the Chophouse was a highlight; their staff and food were 6 star. The room we stayed in was clean. Fireplace is nice. Bathroom has a very nice shower, the rest of it was a standard hotel bathroom. Large closet with lots of storage and a safe. We didn't use the spa services, but indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub were nice. It was a early December weekend and the place was virtually empty. All the food was amazing. All staff were incredibly nice and helpful.

A beautiful place with service that is above expectation. I look forward to another stay. Food is presented with a flair. Meal choices are fresh and healthy non processed real food with an abundance of berries.

This place should have been about discreet high quality.
Instead every thing sounds fake. The building is, considering the standing of the place, ugly. Poor but expensive service. Even the view is not up to the task. Spend you money else where.

They almost have something close to what they are ...

They almost have something close to what they are intending to provide. Seasonal staff is hit and miss and found to be either awesome or very unhelpful. Check in experience was very painful and had to wait 3 hours for our room to get ready after calling days ahead requesting early check in. Grounds are not kept as well as they could be. After rain showers, the out door lounge chair cushions were left unattended to, should have been flipped or replaced. Security is a pia as they confiscated people s $12 drinks in plastic cups in the pool area. We were asked to leave the camp fire and wishing well area as we had beer that we purchased from them as this was considered open water area. Transportation around the property is a huge issue due to the elevation changes, this could be easily resolved with a constant trolly rotating from the top to bottom every 15 min. This was our 2nd visit and most likely the last as the value and experience for the dollar was not there. Rated 2 for value and experience for money spent.

Stayed here in the winter as Family Package; breakfast and dinner buffet included. We got a good experience and value for what we paid for. During the winter months there is obviously only one pool open and it fills up quickly. It's an indoor/outdoor pool which is heated and there is an outdoor hot tub. There are winter activities, but many of them were booked solid by the time we arrived. The resort is clean and the staff are very nice. Overall a good value short stay vacation.

This is the fifth time we've visited the JW Marrio...

This is the fifth time we've visited the JW Marriott around Christmas time. Last year, I got ill with something resembling food poisoning the afternoon after leaving, but dismissed it as something else. This year, after spending a day and a half at the hotel eating only at The Cottages restaurant for three meals, two of the four of us came down with violent food poisoning: uncontrollable nausea, skin rashes, and swollen tongues. When mentioned to the front desk, they told us to purchase medication from their convenience store - a small bottle of pepto bismol for $15.00.

The service at Cottages on the night of our arrival was SO slow - it took two hours for us to get through dinner, meanwhile, other tables got served nice and quickly. Our server eventually told us that they were "laughably understaffed" in the kitchen. Not my problem considering that diner quality meal cost $190 + tip for four.

While the hotel grounds were nice, there were definitely more activities that were 'fillers' than real ones. We were pretty excited about the 'bonfire' mentioned on the activities schedule and by several TA travelers, but were informed that the 'bonfire' was the pitiful looking pile of smoldering embers by the front entrance next to the dropoff driveway. You could buy a smores kit for $10, or beaver tails from a food stall outside for $7. No thanks.

Despite having paid more for a lakeview room, the balconies are in fact inaccessible, meaning that you will more or less be looking out onto white fencing of the balcony. The front desk staff told me that the balconies were 'not maintained'. Why don't you maintain them, then? You can trust your clients to pay $500 a night per room but not to properly use a balcony? OR is something not built properly here? We did notice an alarming number of icicles on all the resort buildings, which is good indication of poor insultation, despite the fact that the rooms were morbidly hot with no access to thermostats.

The spa was nice, but the treatments were so short and very pricey and somewhat unfriendly. Not sure I want to pay $150 for a weak, rushed massage from someone with cold hands again. We popped out to check out the outdoor hot tub but quickly left when we found a young couple having sex and drinking beer in it.

On our last night we dined at Teca, and our reservations were not honored. The food was very greasy and mediocre - in particular spaghetti san marzano tasted like oily undercooked pasta with spam meatballs. I did enjoy a perfectly made caesar from the lakes bar, however.

I think the family friendly aspect will work for some travelers, but for four adults it was kind of a nightmare to be on vacation with everybody else's screaming, crying, running children. Public spaces were more or less filled to the brim with grumpy Muskoka mummies with strollers trying to convince 3 year olds to go to the spa with them, and desperate dads trying to calm hyperactive toddlers down with babytalk. What a disaster.

We were super disappointed with our stay here, and while I don't think there was any one person or service to blame, we will no longer be spending our time and money at this establishment. I highly recommend you reconsider your trip as well.

Had a fun week at the Marriott, the food at The Chop House was so good,it was delicious. The hotel is beautiful my kids 14 and 10 loved the playground on the water my husband and I rented jet skis for three hours and it was beautifully romantic. The staff there is amazing and went out of their way to make sure we had a good time

Always feels like such a treat when we visit in the summer time. You can rent canoes and paddle board for free, which I highly recommend!

Truly gorgeous location and view.

The restaurant food isn t really my taste (a bit old school) so it s great to have a kitchenette in the room to prepare some quick preferred meals for simple breakfast and lunch.

Stopped for lunch and the view. Food is nothing special, but the view is. There was a wine, beer tasting that we attended and we stayed for lunch. The building is getting a little rough around the edges which is surprising as it not that old. Maintenance.....

This a a very nice place for a winter weekend get away. The facilities are beautiful, indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub were really fun, staff was helpful and relaxed, the room was beautiful with kitchenette and awesome gas fireplace. I found the food was overpriced and not impressive. The best meals we had were at the bar. The only real issue we had was with how impossibly dry it was in our room at night....it made it really tough to get a good night's sleep. All in all, I think it was a good experience but I doubt we will ever be back.

i booked a lakeview balcony room and we were not disappointed. this a million dollar view and worth every penny. my wife and i were here to celebrate our anniversary and this was a special place to enjoy it. you are not nickeled and dimed for everything. some water sports included and bike rental are free as well. my friend brought his boat for the day and no dock fee unless staying overnight. all in all this property is 10 out of 10

The property is amazing but the rooms are a bit da...

The property is amazing but the rooms are a bit dated. This place has so much potential and at one time I think it was a crown jewel of the Muskokas but the staff they have throughout the property has no business being in the service industry at all. Many were untrained in both customer service s well as their job positions. The young man working at the Country Market in the mornings had zero customer or people skills and barely the ability to make complicated coffee drinks for line up of hotel guest in the morning. Three mornings in a row he was unable to make change for a cash payment because her was unable to open his cash register. Probably not the person you want greeting guests first thing in the morning when they re looking for their first coffee.

For the exception of The Chop House, most of the servers in the other restaurants again were untrained as servers and absolutely had no sense of timing or awareness as to how a table was flowing through their meals. A number of times utensils and dishes were removed from the table before people had finished appetizers and meals, in one instance the as the server was removing items from the table he neglected to see (on two occasions) that a sharp tipped knife was pointing directly towards me and haphazardly came within an inch of my face!!!! THAT is not the way you clear a table.

Bartenders for out private events were completely void of any knowledge of making mixed drinks and a half dozen times after asking for a whiskey tall with ginger ale the drink was brought to me with whiskey on ice no mix. That went for other people in our group.

During our meetings a number of times the staff was asked to turn the air conditioning in the meeting room on since it was getting quite hot .... it seemed as if they thought we were asking for them to turn it off!! Just basically not listening to requests and instructions.

The manager for the meeting area was in an ill fitted red blazer that looked 2 sizes to big for him and was filthy.

Like I said, this plce has so much potential yet seems to be marred by lack of and/or poor leadership and training of staff. Quite frankly I'm not sure if its hard possibly to find people to work out there although it seems like a dream job for the right person. It's questionable as to the hiring process when it seems like the hotel is hiring non trained staff to do 5 star service at what possibly could be and should be a 5 star property!

Not sure I would ever hold an event there..... I might bring my family back..... but just something as simple as not being able to get a coffee in the morning would certainly make me think twice!

If ya cant get a coffee right and served by someone who is great with yur customers I'm pretty sure you wont get much else right!

Hotel is nice, rooms are in very good conditions.

But I had some problems with the charges to my visa without my consent. I called several times, nobody new what to say. I was transfer to the billing department several times. I left several voice messages, nobody called me back.
