Visited here last month for the first time with my family and it was such a fantastic time.

Staff here are extremely welcoming and genuinely nice.

The rooms are clean and had everything we needed.

We had dinner in the main lobby at the Lakes Cottages and it was spectacular! We shared the warm olives (I don t usually like olives) and they surprisingly delicious - they were presented in such a pretty way. For my main I had the burger and sweet potatoes fries which was unbelievably tasty!

The next morning we had the breakfast buffet which was just lovely. I was able to watch the chef make my omelet the way I wanted it which was a nice touch. The food was nothing but amazing!

All around just wonderful customer service.

Had such a terrific experience and will for sure visit this great establishment again.

The room we stayed in was a 5 star. The resort it self needs some TLC. Lots of painting and damaged ceilings on the exterior of the building. The staff are very helpful but we did run into a few that couldn't help us. We asked why the ping pong paddles were unavailable before 8pm. The pool table as well on the lower level. The billsrds tsblr on the lobby floor was always in use. We were not impressed with this resort and checked out a day earlier. Was really looking forward to our only vacation this year.

Just be aware it's expensive, and they add resort fees, local taxes above the regular taxes. What you pay for on a travel site you will be paying an extra $50-$60. Not including the over price food and drinks.

Not what I would expect from a JW property. Very dated and aging. The rooms need a serious refresh (and air fresheners). The food was good at teca, the Italian restaurant and the amenities are nice too. Overall still a nice place but not worth the almost $400/night price tag

Located by Lake Rousseau, this resort is conveniently close to one of the most beautiful lakes in Muskoka. There are many activities included with your stay (kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding etc), as well as other extra paid activities such as renting a boat and jetskis. The beachside has chairs with tents which are usually taken fairly quickly, so it s best to reserve yours early in the morning. It s very relaxing overall, and I do appreciate how all the staff wears mask in the facilities, plus there are stickers to help social distance. Due to covid 19, the resort was fairly quiet (which wasn t a problem for us), so it was easier to distance from other guests.

However; the three star rating wasn t for the resort itself, but mainly the operations with staff. Foremost, I care with my cousins and we requested for a room beside or connected. We arrived fairly late at we couldn t check in till 5, which was fine because we thought they were trying to get a room together for us. Turns out, they separated us, and gave us a low floor and my cousins a higher floor. The resort wasn t even busy, and they made us wait much longer only to get different rooms in completely different floors. My family was already settled in so we didn t want to change rooms after making the realization.

The next problem was our sink. It was severely clogged from the first day we checked in, and we had to call about it a few times. The staff told us they would get someone to check as soon as we left, and every time we came back (few hours later), it was still clogged as no one ever came. The other issue is that we had to call quite a few times to request for extra napkins/water etc even though they told us the request has been put in. Overall, this was very annoying and shouldn t be happening since there are less guests than usual to deal with.

Not worth it! Not a 4 star hotel at all. Poor service, quality of hospitality and very poorly trained staff mainly in restaurants - Teca and Cottages. Food overpriced and not authentic or creative as at other 4 star hotels. Servers have no clue about their wines, info about their menu or basic knowledge of their job.

Quite expensive but nice. A little too busy for my taste. There are a few restaurants, but I have not tried them all. I did eat lunch at Cottages and ordered the prime rib sandwich, it tasted and looked more like pulled pork. We had the 1 bedroom and were upgraded to a 1 bedroom with balcony upon arrival. The room was spacious but slightly outdated. All in all a good experience

Great resort. Staff are all very friendly, and they are work hard to make guests comfortable and happy. We were here for a weekend, on the Saturday evening we attended a staff Christmas party, one of the ladies at our table was hoping for chocolate cake on the dessert menu, they did not have it, but one of the managers went and had a mini chocolate cake made for her, totally amazing! The resort is extremely clean, food is awesome! Great getaway!

I had a chance to attend a conference at this beautiful venue in May! Wonderful setting with decent service. All the meals for the conference were on point; great taste, execution and variety. Food is sometimes a hard thing to sort out for a conference and they did amazing. Room service was also very responsive and kind. They even helped a friend find car keys she accidentally sent down to laundry with her robe. Beautiful view in the back and spaces to walk and retreat away from the conference. My only comment is that the restaurant inside was a very expensive and not worth the cost.

Lots of stairs and walking which was ok for us but hard for some. Three elevators just to get half way to beach.
We had a blast though. Tons of things for the kids to do which included us. They were all exhausted by the end of the day.

I ve been coming here 2-3 a year since they opened. I have never, ever had a bad experience with them. Even when the hydro went out they were very accommodating. Best customer service from a hotel, my family will continue coming here for years to come.

The hotel is stunning! Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a water view room. The room was ready early and was very tidy. When we called for extra pillows and blankets, they were provided to us in a very timely manner. My only complaint would be slow service at the restaurants as well as errors with orders. Overall the experience was great and would definitely come back

This place was amazing. We were lucky to have a quiet few days. The weather was perfect for using the hot tub and indoor outdoor pool. The food, staff, service and the spa are all top notch. The only thing that would have made this stay better would have been a snowstorm we could have watched from our room while enjoying the fireplace.

Beautiful scenery but not from all the rooms - be sure to ask for a lakeside view. For the price of the meals the restaurants were a let down. Courteous staff do there best to make you feel special. Gym is small. Only one pool table a ping pong table, but you can use them anytime. Swimming pool is interesting as indoor and outdoor pools are connected, but it can feel crowded quickly.

Hard to describe my experience here. Very grandeur atmosphere followed by lack luster service and food. Room was good but not for the price really. That would be ok if it were accompanied by the level service and quality of food you would expect for such a place. I should first mention that we had an excellent time at the beach with all the amenities, rented jet skis and they were awesome. But that was followed by one of the worst dinners I've had for the price we paid. Broken win glass, served. Dirty water glass, served. Cold steak and potatoes, served twice in a row. Terrible feeling after paying nearly 1000 dollars for one night and food.

JW Marriott is a beautiful resort with very nice grounds (5 stars). Management and housekeeping need improvement! Very poor service (2 stars), enough so, that I would not go back 5-star resort with 3-star reception and mediocre food. Food at the Teca - the ribeye steak was tough, pizza on the deck at lunch was not completely cooked. The food at Lakes was good. They did better at casual pub style.

Upon arriving, the bellhop told us he would bring our bags to our room and asked for our room number. He said he would remember it. A 1.5 hours later we called downstairs and ended up describing our bags. Eventually, we went down and got them ourselves.

We booked four days before our visit and understandably there was only one spa treatment and we wanted 2. We asked to be on the waitlist. We called in once on both mornings leading up to our stay and called down to the spa as we were checking in to see if we might get a cancellation. I was told there is nothing available and was given a free lecture that we are on the waitlist. Walking past the spa my niece went in person to ask if they could find her an appointment and was given 2. Grateful to have an appointment but frustrated with the waiting list that obviously did not exist or was not respected. Prior to handing out the newly available appointment, the staff did not try to contact the waiting list. Booking a service was very frustrating but I must say the treatment I received was excellent 5 star, as was my niece s massages.

Room was nice and clean. Ordering room service was nearly impossible! I spent 20 minutes trying to order an omelet that was on our menu. The person taking the order continually tried to tell me I should order a custom omelet and they have no such item on the menu. The menu in our room in my hand! Obviously, more training and a better command of what is going on would have helped. Finally, I gave in and ordered a custom omelet two coffee two orange juice and waffles. We started the order at 8 am did not get off the phone until 8:20. Breakfast arrived at 9:47 and we had spa appointments at 10. The order had no syrup for the waffles, waffles were cold and hard, there were only 1 coffee and 1 orange juice we had ordered 2 of both.

Rushing out of the room we forgot a computer cord. Called the next day and was told all lost and found requests must go through an answering tape. No possibility of human contact. Front desk was unwilling to talk to housekeeping or let me. They could not say how housekeeping or a guest could turn an item found in.

Unfortunately, we also lost a cell phone (totally on us) and called the evening we arrived home to ask if it had been turned in. The person at the desk said the spa has nothing to do with them and I should call back when the spa is open. I asked if she could at least take my number down in case another guest brings it to the front desk. I explained while the spa was the last place we went the phone could have been left anywhere. She refused and told me to call back tomorrow to the spa because it wasn't her job to keep track of peoples cell phones. Very frustrating. I am confident with the mismanagement at this resort, I will never see my computer cord or cell phone.

As a business owner, I understand busy days and expect human error as part of doing business. However, the issue is never that a mistake or poor service occasionally happens. The issue was how poorly things were handled when reported to reception or management. We received no apology and no sense of care and attention to the issues. Our breakfast should not have been on our bill when we left and an apology should have been made instead of a bellhop shrugging his shoulders and reception saying, Yes, well we are busy today . I should have been contacted as a waitlist client instead of the appointment being given to a walk-in at the spa. There should always be someone at the front desk/management available to deal with service issues that may crop up in a busy resort. JW Marriott was a disappointment.

The the shore by the lake is a construction zone.....hard hats and work boots only. When we checked in they told us we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom because we were staying for 4 days....How nice.....after we saw the room didn't have a view of the lake like we requested, they told us they gave our room away. The next day we got our room overlooking the lake and the construction site. We woke up every morning to hammers, saw's back up alarms from heavy equipment....unbelieveable.
This should be called the excuse hotel, all they had were excuses. 2 1/2 hours for dinner, because the waiter had to get our order's do again...forgot to order our dessert, every morning we had to correct or dinner bill from the night before, because they kept charging us for coffee even though its part of the dinner package.

To many more to mention.....this resort ruined our honeymoon

Wonderful fall getaway at the JW. Beautiful setting to experience the amazing fall colours of Muskoka.
The staff is amazing, great accommodations, and phenomenal attention to detail throughout our stay.
We have been visiting every year, both in the fall and summer, for several years now, and we have noted how the experience and service we receive improves every time we visit.
Thank you so much! Your amazing team keeps us coming back.

My views are slightly skewed because a) it was paid for by work (not my money, not my problem), b) I wasn't able to enjoy myself because I was tied to a client, c) I didn't get to enjoy the amenities.

All of that said, the room I stayed in was gorgeous. I felt that it was well worth the price. The cleaner came in every day and made the place sparkle. It was a really nice stay for the off-season.

The view of the lake would be way better in the summer, so if you're a summer client, I'd say it's worth it.

The hotel view and location are excellent. The service is the worst I have ever experienced in my life.
Whe we got in, the sanitized room had it toilet plugged and water running non stop. The balcony was full of dirt and paper..., dust was everywhere and the fridge was not working.
After at least 7 calls and after 24 hours they came to fi things..
What a pathetic hotel. We lost almost 100 value of food...
I will nit recommend this hotel since the arrogant staff ignored my requests despite the fact I am a platinum member...

I want to preface this review by mentioning we as a family of 5 have been coming here for years. Clearly we are in a pandemic and change is to be expected but clearly there is new management or something else as this hotel is not worthy of the JW name.

Check in was easy and outdoors which is super convenient and a smart move, problem is the woman checking as in had her mask BELOW her nose and at times it went below her mouth. Really?? During a time like this.

When we got to our room we noticed there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and items in the cabinet that were marked and sealed "Sanitized". The first glass I picked up had a fingerprint and lipstick on it! C'mon!!! Made us wonder whether this room was even cleaned. We tried to call down to the Front Desk but NO ONE EVER answers the phone. We had to go down and there was NO LINE at all. The same woman who was outside before was now at the front desk, again with mask well below her nose, she offered to change our room, we declined as it was late and did not want that hassle. We opted instead for clean glassware to be brought to our room.

On our way to the pool there was an employee dragging garbage along the floor (not sanitary) and he did not have on a mask. When he saw us he scrambled to put it on. Nice try! This is a general theme at this property employees need to be properly trained in how to wear a mask, it is NOT below your nose, it has to cover your NOSE and MOUTH to be effective. Marriott just recently announced it is MANDATORY for ALL guest and employees to wear masks indoors but I saw many people not wearing masks and this infuriates me. Hire some security and enforce this rule, I do not feel safe with so many people not wearing masks. When we got to the pool we thought we were going to get assigned a place to sit (that is what the sign said). The employee working there was clearly overwhelmed and said we can sit anywhere we want. I asked "Have all the chair outside been sanitized?". To which she replied "Nah, I don't have the time to do it but you can do it yourself, we've got sanitary wipes you can use." Geez thanks! For almost $1,000 a night I'd expect a bit more.

While the pool is beautiful and the water is perfect it is not very fun to swim with what seems like over a hundred dead bugs and other debris in the pool. Has the filter broken down in the pool, can no one ever clean it?

Our food was actually pretty good so no issues there.

Overall, a very poor stay and I'm sad to say this as I used to love coming here. Not even close to worth the exorbitant price they charge.

We recently enjoyed our Anniversary dinner at The Chophouse! The staff were professional and friendly, greeting us by name upon arrival! The view of Lake Rosseau from the restaurant and patio are spectacular! Our dinner of steak and lamb were done to perfection! and the pistachio cheesecake was absolutely delicious! The Chophouse is a great addition to the dining selection offered at the JW Marriott Rosseau. thank you!

We visited Marriott to have a quick bite on our way back to home. We got little anxious as there was a bit delay in service, however two young gentlemen Shokeen and Amit Dary appeared at our table and made sure that we got proper service with a pleasant and friendly demeanour. Thank you both and appreciate your efforts.

Stayed during summer 2019. First and foremost, the property/grounds are amazing. Really large and spacious property that offers a nice view of the lake and greenery. Amenities include an indoor/outdoor swim-out pool, hot tub, beach, spa, kayaks, water-sports, bike rentals and more! The hotel itself looks quite nice inside, from the exterior to the rooms and lobby. Our room was quite spacious and elegant with a classy look. Restaurant was decent, the staff were great and were the best part of the restaurant, the food itself met our expectations but was nothing out of the ordinary. Overall the property is quite nice and offers indoor and outdoor bars and a nice cafe/breakfast spot. Hotel itself is quite expensive, so I highly recommend coming here for special occasions!

For such a high end resort, our experience was pretty average. The resort setting is stunning but we were disappointed with the room. The bed was not properly made, there were no kitchen supplies (dish soap/dish towel/paper towels) and the baseboards were very dusty/dirty!

They don't treat their employees with respect. Yelling at them and making them cry. Telling them they are not good enough and what they are doing is not good enough. My daughter quit today because of harassment from her boss these children are our future and if you want better jobs done hire a mature full time employees not trying to save a buck and hire students for internship from what they have been going to college to become. I would never recommend this place to stay

Nice rooms and beautiful nature around, but...
Exaggerated prices for the quality it offers: slow service, late check in, understaffed room cleaning.
Being in the middle of nowhere, not much entertainment either - you can go through all their group activities in like 2 days.

Stopped in for Lunch on a rainy Sunday, the place is fantastic from top to bottom, our server John offered us the best service one could ask for! Planning on coming back for a weekend someday soon. My husband and I enjoyed our short stay there. The room was very clean and spacious. A bit disappointed that check in is so late at 4 pm. That doesn't leave much time to enjoy the amenities before getting ready for dinner. Most places we've stayed were a 2 or 3 pm check in. The meal we had was quite small but I don't know if it was from the hotel or from a caterer brought in for the event we were attending. Overall the hotel was quite lovely and we hope to be back.

Overall great staycation! We enjoyed a day at the spa, experienced the new oxygen bar, and finished the day off with dinner at the Italian restaurant. The massage was standard (possibly below standard), I was not overly impressed with my massage therapist and most likely would not come back here for a massage. The facilities themselves were nice and the staff was friendly. We paid the extra 20$ a person to enjoy the area with the oxygen bar and massage chairs which was a fun experience to try but again not sure I would pay for this again. The pool in the spa side is not open during the winter months so we were limited to just the hot tub, sauna, and steam room. After our day at the spa we had dinner at the Italian restaurant Tecca. The dinner was excellent, staff was great. I will say the only downer to dinner was that while we were enjoying our cappuchinnos and dessert a silverfish found its way onto the table. We trapped it under a glass and notified the waiter who did not seem too alarmed by it and did not offer any apologies. With the exception of our unwantes friend however dinner was great!
