They don't even deserve 1 star but that is the lowest I can give them. We purchased a new 2017 Suburban and talked them down a little but then they put a different price on the contract (bait and switch). They also put in lower numbers on the estimated amounts paid to bank for financing by more than $15k to make it look lower at a glance but in reality you are signing to pay way more. They also applied the cilajet (after charging us what we later found out was a high high price) and the application was horribly done and is already causing more problems only months after purchase. There are many other things but I would not ever refer anyone to them. Elk Grove Chevy had better deals and have better ratings now that we look at it. We are even talking to a lawyer and prepared to file a law suit for fraud, misrepresentation and a few other things.

We got the car we were looking for. With that said, John L Sullivan is no different than any other dealership, they will try you for the most money they can get out of you. Lets just say that we went in prepared and their first offer was reduced by many thousands of dollars when we started walking out to go to a rival dealership showing them that they have the same car for a lower price. Do your research and go in prepared, remember they are not the only dealer in town, it can save you thousands.

I had an appointment for 0900 hours. When I spoke to the service representative, she was very nice and helpful. I was told that with the recall and my normal service that my truck should be done by approximately 1045 hours. My truck sat in the back of the service bay for a couple of hours before it was brought into the bay to be worked on. Due to this tremendous amount of dead time I was unable to have my service completed that day as I had other responsibilities that needed to be attended to. I did not get my vehicle back until approximately 1120 hours. I feel if I have an appointment, I should be brought back for my service within a short period after arriving. I arrived early for my appointment and I m pretty sure they only did the bare minimum and did not address any of my concerns that I voiced.

Called from the side of the freeway when our van broke down and told the sales guy what we were looking for (including 3 definite requirements) to replace it. They kindly offered to pick us up, but it took the sales rep almost an hour to get us when we were only about 2 miles away. He told me that they had SEVERAL vans that met all our criteria. After waiting for 4 hours at the (humongous) dealership, being passed back and forth to various other sales reps, it turned out they had ZERO vans that met our 3 basic requirements. Thanks for wasting all our time guys! They will say anything to get you in the door--bunch of no good liars!!

Well the good news is the extended warranty paid off big time. I have a 2014 Silverado and the a.c. was blowing warm air the repair was almost $1700.00 but only out of pocket was $100.00 deductible. Steve is a great advisor and always keeps you informed of what's going on.

The sales person did a great job showing the vehicle. He was very knowledgeable about the technical workings of the 2019 Chevy Bolt, which I ended up purchasing. I love the car. I was unprepared for an aggressive negotiation process and feel that I overpaid for a vehicle that I could have gotten for several thousand dollars less at nearby competing dealerships. The importance of a few thousand dollars related to the severity of financial strain while paying it off. We wanted to go full electric to reduce operation and maintenance costs related to gas/diesel engines, as well as reduce our carbon foot print.

This was my first new vehicle purchase. If I were to do it over again I would have planned to walk away after the first negotiation discussion and talked with other dealerships that had cheaper quotes over the phone. John L. Sullivan was doing their job and made money on me. Hopefully others will be more prepared than I was and get a hous deal on a great vehicle.

Update: 1/12/2019
Changed from 3 stars to 2 stars. After my first review, John L Sullivan was quick to reach out to me in hopes to improve the relationship for possible future business. It's been a little awkward playing a telephone game. They say they want to make my experience with their dealership better, but it seems to be backfiring. After my sales experience, and now a telephone back and forth that is not very responsive, I'm not sure about future business here. I'm glad that others have good experience with this dealership and I hope that continues.

The Bolt EV continues to impress. It's turning heads both at work and on the road. Recommend the vehicle if it fits within your routine and the price is right for you. It's quite zippy and intuitive. The range is great too. Electric cars definitely have a place in the future of the car and truck industry. Happy car hunting.

We knew we wanted a Volt. We had never bought a brand new car and didn't want to deal with being "hassled" by a car salesman (especially knowing what we wanted). Heath Carney made our entire experience smooth and easy. He was more than experienced and knowledgable about the car and its features. I would consider him the area expert on hybrids. We would definitely buy another car from him.

This place SUCKS! I have now walked away from this dealer TWICE. We went to talk to them about a Camaro in 2017 and the sales person was completely fine, the manager however was a complete liar (bought the car in Davis instead very little hassle). I get employee discount and he tried to tell my husband the code is only good for 24 hours and a bunch of other BS that was all lies. I just went there again the week before last sales person did an ok job but once inside I sat waiting for OVER 25 minutes AFTER I completed and they ran my credit (I got an alert I knew exactly what time they ran my credit). I warned them once I was going to walk out, they asked me to stay saying the manager would be right out. I waited another 10 minutes (I had a timer going) no one comes out. I get up and walk out suddenly 2 sales managers chasing after me. The whole time I sat at the table filling out the credit app and waiting for the sales manager I got to listen to another manager talk to the table next to me that could clearly not afford the $19k car they were trying to buy and based on the conversation it was not the first time they had been there trying to buy a car they could not afford. I ended up driving to Turlock Smiths Chevy and had absolutely fantastic customer service no lies, didn't waste any of my time and now I have a new car and a color I liked better. They were happy to answer any questions I had over the phone and had the car ready for me when I arrived and they met me when I pulled into the parking lot. There is no excuse for this BS I don't need to negotiate a price, it is set in stone, that is the whole reason for using the discount. Smiths said they love dealing with people like me that can afford any car on their lot, makes it an easy transaction. Very high pressure to get me inside, swearing it will just be 15 minutes then completely wastes your time. I feel bad for their sales people as these managers have lost 2 sales for them. I won't ever be back.

Be aware of Sales if going for Service

I visited Sullivan Chevrolet about 3 weeks ago to have my Tahoe serviced
I was greeted by a Salesperson who immediately interjected that i purchase a new car rather than repair my current one. I wasn't completely against the idea, but I wanted a quote on repairs first. I went along with him, but was reserved to the repairs and (after 3 hours) eventually turned down the lease offer and got an appointment for repair.

The Service Dept personnel might be a little disinterested in their job or overworked. I visited the 2nd time for my appointment and it was not very busy (only 2 vehicles in line). Customers are not as familiar with the facilities as the employee and it would be nice if that perspective was heeded.

When I returned to pick up my vehicle, before I even exited my vehicle, a Salesperson was greeting me. I said that I needed Service not sales. I went to the Service Desk and I was redirected to the Cashier's office.

Each Dealership is a little different that the next, and my prior experience was that the Service Desk was where I needed to go.

In all I have little to complain about. The cost for the service was fair and quick. It was not cheap, but neither was the service. I feel that I got what I paid for and a solid repair.

Just be aware of the Sales people, if you're there for Service.

I own a small business, speed and efficiency are very important to my business and my customers. Brian Cobb in the parts department expedited the process of getting a part for me told me he would call me as soon as the part came in and called me the next morning at 8:30 telling me my part is in and ready for pick up. That is exactly what he said he would do And he delivered I very much appreciate them and lucky to have an employee like Brian

The customer service there was awesome! They greeted me right as I open the door pulling into their service department even with construction going on they were very apologetic. The staff was very helpful in eating me to their cafe. Brian was such a help in the parts department. Courtny however in the service department takes the cake! She ran me through everything that was going to be done to my car called me at the moment my car was ready and made sure that all my questions were answered! I was so happy and I definitely will be coming back!

Had to take my Tahoe in because the check engine light came on. We bought it used but it s certified pre owned. The advisor was not even sure if the warranty would cover the potential repairs. We have had the truck for 2 months. In addition being warranty work the use of a rental or courtesy car would have been nice. Every other dealerships I have use for warranty has offered this service. They however did not. It is very inconvenient to leave my car all day for repairs.

Very disappointed in John L Sullivan and General Motors. I purchased a 1500 Silverado and have nothing but transmission problem. Brought it in 4 different occasions and there is nothing they can or want to do as the car operates per design as they say. So much for all the warranties the try to sell you on but as soon as you need it they will find a loophole to not fix it. This is my first and last Chevrolet. I contacted a lemon law attorney to have this vehicle bought back by General Motors. Thank you John l Sullivan for taking my hard earned money.

I called early in the morning and they were able to squeeze me in for a warning light issue that happened the night before. Paul was exceptionally helpful. He made sure to do some computer updates that I didn't know about along with an oil change that was about due. They even tightened my rear view mirror for me! Thank you JLS Chevy!

This is the only dealership I recommend! After months of car shopping, being lied to at every turn & always ending on the same "co-signer" or higher down payment scenario I was at my limit. I had given up any chance of finding reasonable reliable transportation. Then I got the call from these people and life changed! They put me in a 2014 cruze with low mileage and a warranty! I came to them with very specifics on what I could afford and how my credit looked and they more than delivered! Go see them, they really care and they really help!

I went in to this dealership on 06/29/2019 for a passenger side sun visor replacement that needed to be replaced under warranty, due to the visor interfering with the back up camera. This was a follow up appointment, on my visit the previous week they stated they needed to order the part. I dropped off my car. After about an hour and a half I received a phone call from Brent stating that they were unable to replace the visor under warranty; I asked to speak with the manager. I spoke with Penny who stated that this item should have never been deemed to have been replaced under warranty. I asked her why would they call me in if it was not going to be replaced. She had no answer. I further inquired, why they waited an hour and a half to tell me that they cannot do anything to my vehicle. Penny reiterated that this item should not have been ever deemed for replacement under warranty and she needs to contact GM. At this point I was upset that I wasted my time; I expressed my dissatisfaction for the dealership and the employees in the service department. Shortly after, I went to pick up my vehicle and they could not locate my paperwork. I told the cashier, I didn t believe there was any paperwork involved since my vehicle was not repaired; I further stated my vehicle is parked right outside. I waited for over 35 minutes at the cashier s counter for my keys. They were finally able to locate my keys and they handed them over to me and I departed. Needless to say, I have had several negative experiences at this particular dealership; this particular experience was so negative, that I have the need to write this here today. I have purchased two Chevrolets from this dealership and so have my parents. We will not be returning to John L. Sullivan Chevrolet, ever.

Very dissatisfied with this dealership.

Very dissatisfied with this dealership.

Called a few days prior let them know our financial situation, exactly what we were looking for and what we wanted the vehicle for, told them how Far we were from the dealership and that we d have to bring our 3 little kids with us so we wanted to know that we Had Options and could leave with Something Similar to what we wanted/needed.

Sales person couldn t give us even General numbers over the phone but ASSURED us based on our situation, price range and their extensive vehicle inventory that he wouldn t make us drive all that way for no reason. So we made an appointment and drove the 1.5 Hours in the rain with our 3 kids under 6.

We get there and everything was fine, rainy but fine, most of the sales people were nice and offered an umbrella to keep my kids dry to get inside.

Our sales guy Thomas did Not offer myself or my kids an umbrella once even though when we went out to see the vehicles we were trying to huddle our 3 little kids under the carports (1 yr old, 3 yr old & 6 yr old). He was not very friendly or comfortable to deal with and they did not have Anything in our price range for what we Needed. Which would have been GREAT to know Over the Phone! And then I explained this NICELY to the manager and then to the financial guy who wanted to start the loan process and Neither of them apologized for the inconvenience or poor customer service!

I m mostly upset that Not Once did Our sales rep (Thomas) offer to keep my Babies dry with an umbrella && then no one even said sorry for that and the FALSE PROMISES & inconvenience of Driving All the way Out.

Will NEVER go back OR recommend anyone to go there AND will tell Everyone I Know how TERRIBLE my experience was.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!

I have had 3 service experiences with John L Sulli...

I have had 3 service experiences with John L Sullivan. I purchased a Ford Flex through them little over a year ago and purchased their comprehensive extended warranty to keep us covered.

We needed to get service about 6 months later when the Transfer Casing exploded . The vehicle had to be seeviced at Ford which wasnt an issue, however the warranty that we purchased allowed for 0 service on weekends leavinf us without a vehicle for 2 days. More over we were given the run around by JLS, they referred us between the warranty company and Ford.

My next expereince was 6 or so months later. I scheduled repair for a broken door sensor using the warranty. With over a weeks advance on the appointment the 2 hour repair took in excess of 5 hours.

This criticism and review is in no way a reflection of the people who I interacted with there. Everyone has been polite and kind, however the business or consideration beyond the soft skills side is lacking.

I will not buy another vehicle from here after the last 3 that my family has.

Wow! What a great experience!! I dealt with Dyson, Randy, and Ron (the dream team!) As soon as i got out of my car I received a warm welcome from Dyson. I told him what i was looking for and he showed me different options. He was very knowledgeable. Car buying can be pretty stressful but he made it so easy and fun! I needed a car Asap and they went above and beyond, even after hours,(while i was waiting for my insurance to go through). I found a great car within my budget and a monthly payment that I am happy with. Thank you guys for such an amazing experience!! I'll definitely be back here for all of my future car purchases!

My wife wanted a new Traverse after liking our 2015 one so much. It wasn't a totally easy process, but they made the numbers work with our trade-in and we finally left John L Sullivan with her new 2019 Traverse. Everyone that was involved in the process was knowledgeable and kind. As they say, "Happy wife, happy life" - thank you, John L Sullivan Chevrolet for helping with that equation.

Problem is that I have taken my car in for one thing - three supposed problems later - the problem is still evident and they have fixed three things for over $2500.00 worth of work, one recall and still have the same issues. Took for a second and third opinion and had a friend look at it with no information given to them prior and they all came out with the solution and it wasn't what your service department even mentioned. Highly disappointed and the service rep was quite rude this last time as she was frustrated with me becasue of my frustration but - SERIOUSLY that is your job to have customer service not to snap back!!!!!!!!! The only reason I gave you a 2 is because the ladies at check out are wonderful and the guys washing cars and checking in car were professional. I hope I don't have to bring my car back for an item that has to be done by the dealer again -- it opens a can of worms!

Horrible experience. I called them before I came to see if they still had some room to work on the price on a 2018 truck they had. They said yes they did. I got there sad around for almost 45 minutes with a sales associate which was the only decent person in the building obviously. They ended up offering me a $100 off of the sticker price.. I said no way and said I ll give you 37,000 and not a penny more. They agreed to the price ran my credit went over the truck with me Onstar computer and everything. Then when we were signing papers I realize that they added Stuff on that 37,000 that we agreed-upon was now 39,000 and some change. Which was what the car was originally stickered at. All that they did was lie to me and waste my time. Drove over an hour to get there. And no this was not counting license and registration I expect to pay that

I originally was given a quote by one advisor over the phone to replace all the glow plugs in my Express van, when I took the car for the same repair, the advisor on duty denied the quote and gave me another quote $100 dollars more, even when I explain to him about the other estimate, he refused to acknowledge it. I guess my mistake was to assume the quote was in my service file and not to call back the other advisor.
First time I had this disappointment in this dealership, but it sure erases the previous experiences I had. 'Customer service' should be replace with 'Customer $$'
The work performed was good, no complains there. That's the reason for the 2 stars.

I recently purchased a Chevy Impala and I had a great experience starting with Joseph my initial sales man who was so honest and personable he really made my car shopping experience enjoyable. I m used to having very Sharky sales people and he made it feel like I was shopping with a friend. Unfortunately I was not able to finish the sale with him as I had to leave and when I came back he was with other customers. Thankfully he turned me over to Hunter who was also amazing he also made my financing experience great. He is very dedicated to his job as he was off but stayed to finish my sale which was very impressive. Thanks for making my car buying experience amazing I love my new car. -Myzelle

I have had repeated problems with my engine light coming on. I have been in to John L. Sullivan 5 times for this problem. The third time I told the service advisor that it may be related to a temperature drop in the weather. They checked it and after yet another few hours came back and told me that the sensor was malfunctioning and had to be replaced. The fourth time they replaced the sensor and it cost me about $500. Two days later the temperature had dropped and the light came back on. I was again scheduled for a service and the day before the service I received a letter from Chevrolet telling me that the Cruz Diesels had a malfunction and the engine light would come on because of a temperature change and that they would cover the costs for an additional 10 years. I took the car in with the letter and asked for an explanation. All I got was excuses and an apology with no promise that I would get any money back, from Sullivan or Chevrolet, for a new sensor that was apparently not necessary. The best they could tell me was that there was a new designed part for this problem. I would have to pay the dealer cost of $108 for it to be installed. They said they would call Chevrolet to see if they would reimburse me for the other $500 and I would receive a call on Monday (yesterday) for an appointment on Tuesday. There has been no call so far and this would be the sixth time for the same problem that was apparently misdiagnosed from the beginning.
=====================================================
Two days after this last service, which was the sixth time for the same engine light problem, the engine light was back on and has stayed on since. I guess I am destined for a 7th visit back to the service department.

This was my 6th service visit for an engine light problem. both the service manager and advisor said that this was a problem with the Cruze Diesel and this time they had the correct fix redesigned by Chevrolet and even though I had spent an approximate $500 for past failed fixes, they gave me a credit of half that amount on my account. Two days after this final fix the engine light came back on and stayed on. This morning I called the Service department and could not talk to either the advisor or the manager and left a phone message for Jason. That was at 7:30am this morning, no return call so far 1:30pm. I called the service dept. to make sure they were actually open today and the manager was at work. They said yes to both and they could not connect me to the manager and said I could leave another phone message.

At this point I am very dissatisfied with Chevy and John L. Sullivan. It seems that I have spent half of my life recently waiting for them to be competent at their jobs.

We needed a battery and battery cable replaced. There was corrosion all over the battery connections, even though the car had been serviced by Sullivan merely 1000 miles earlier. I was in the market for a certified used Chevy Malibu and decided to look at John L Sullivan's website because a few of my friends/co-workers had great car buying experiences there. I found a good selection of Malibu's at great prices online so I scheduled a test drive. I am an incredibly indecisive person however so it took me a while to settle in on what I wanted. My salesman John Miller was very helpful in making my decision, as well as the buying process as easy as possible. He presented all the options to me and worked very hard at securing an amazing deal.

Even though I was in need of a new vehicle I was dreading going to a dealership and getting that pushy feeling from the salesman. I'm happy to say that wasn't the case here. John Miller was as friendly, helpful and patient as could be. If I am looking for another vehicle in the future I will definitely come back to John L Sullivan and ask for John Miller.

Rotors are bad, break sweak and the radio has "BAD" reception, my text messages don't even show up on the screen. I wish I would have went with my gut instinct and not about a car from you guys. I'M NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!!
Penny said she will take Care of the stereo and now she won't, I even had Dan one of your top stereo guys ride with me and he heard what my stereo is doing. Dan tryed telling me it's because the towers are blocked, then he tryed telling me it's because I put LED headlights in my car. . I'm sick of the run around, if things aren't taken care of on my car soon I will take the next step.

I couldn't be happier with the service I have received time and time again. I would recommend taking your car here for any needs you may have. The staff is polite, and very knowledgeable. They keep you updated and, are always looking out for your best interest. 10/10.
