I have had repeated problems with my engine light coming on. I have been in to John L. Sullivan 5 times for this problem. The third time I told the service advisor that it may be related to a temperature drop in the weather. They checked it and after yet another few hours came back and told me that the sensor was malfunctioning and had to be replaced. The fourth time they replaced the sensor and it cost me about $500. Two days later the temperature had dropped and the light came back on. I was again scheduled for a service and the day before the service I received a letter from Chevrolet telling me that the Cruz Diesels had a malfunction and the engine light would come on because of a temperature change and that they would cover the costs for an additional 10 years. I took the car in with the letter and asked for an explanation. All I got was excuses and an apology with no promise that I would get any money back, from Sullivan or Chevrolet, for a new sensor that was apparently not necessary. The best they could tell me was that there was a new designed part for this problem. I would have to pay the dealer cost of $108 for it to be installed. They said they would call Chevrolet to see if they would reimburse me for the other $500 and I would receive a call on Monday (yesterday) for an appointment on Tuesday. There has been no call so far and this would be the sixth time for the same problem that was apparently misdiagnosed from the beginning.
=====================================================
Two days after this last service, which was the sixth time for the same engine light problem, the engine light was back on and has stayed on since. I guess I am destined for a 7th visit back to the service department.
This was my 6th service visit for an engine light problem. both the service manager and advisor said that this was a problem with the Cruze Diesel and this time they had the correct fix redesigned by Chevrolet and even though I had spent an approximate $500 for past failed fixes, they gave me a credit of half that amount on my account. Two days after this final fix the engine light came back on and stayed on. This morning I called the Service department and could not talk to either the advisor or the manager and left a phone message for Jason. That was at 7:30am this morning, no return call so far 1:30pm. I called the service dept. to make sure they were actually open today and the manager was at work. They said yes to both and they could not connect me to the manager and said I could leave another phone message.
At this point I am very dissatisfied with Chevy and John L. Sullivan. It seems that I have spent half of my life recently waiting for them to be competent at their jobs.
