What am I going to say that you don't know already?? Well, if you are trying the bycicle ride accros the bridge, be very carful with wind gusts and walking people. We all want to see the bridge but walking people and bikes do not match together. Maybe if they could open the sidewalk on the other side.....

Its a stunning piece of American ingenuity. The water is beautiful and the views are breath taking! People who live in this area are truly blessed to have such a beautiful piece of history in their backyard.

It's a must see. Plain and simple. I recommend getting there by bike or bus and taking the time to explore the areas around the visitors center and bridge. The #28 bus runs between Fisherman's Wharf and the visitors center every 15 mins.

Beautiful bridge. Worth seeing. If you re visiting for the first time, please make sure you wear warm clothes. It s super cold and windy in San Francisco. You can see Alcatraz prison from the bridge. It was very cool. Did not get to do a tour of the prison but I will next time I m there.

If you're someone who's as obsessed with Death as I am, definitely go here. It's eerie if you go in the evening/ night time, it also makes for better pictures. From beginning to end- one way, including time for pictures and video, it took us roughly 30 minutes. It is very windy up there, don't forget a snack and use the bathroom before hand.

It was a very nice trip that I went on to go see the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a nice little spot to go and spend a few minutes if you're just there to see it and not actually use it but if you do the view of the ocean is killer while walking on it. I recommend going to see the bridge if you don't live relatively close to it like I do.

It was so breathtaking and awesome. Never in my life did I think this girl from TN cross the Golden Gate Bridge... twice! I loved all the information about the bridge and how it wad made. The view was gorgeous. The gift so was great. They had a lot of decently priced souvenirs. There were a lot of people there and buses coming in and out so that was a bit overwhelming. The bathrooms were clean and they were actually really cool and unusual. Guess we've gotten so used to those automatic bathroom gadgets. There was also a pay phone. I'm sure a lot of the younger visitors had no clue what they were.

I m local, so it isn t too omg so amazing to me. It s an amazing bridge, and for sure one of California s most well known structures. It s usually moderately windy and foggy, so it isn t a perfect view, but it clears up in the afternoon. There s not too much traffic, which is good, and there is a cafe on one side of the bridge. Otherwise, one of the coolest places I ve seen in a while.

I can see it over and over again, and it's still just as beautiful as the first time. If you're in town visiting, GO SEE THIS! Shoot for mid day when the fog is at it's least aggressive.

A landmark of the city, which offers unparalleled view of the bay and its surroundings. Best to visit early in the morning and chose the east or west viewpoint, to park and take some memorable shots with your company. Another good way to visit would be the Big Bus Tour or use a local guide. For a different view of the beach you can also visit Baker beach, where is significantly less busy and also offers free parking.

As expected. Nice place to visit, a must if you're in SF. Be careful since even in sunny days the bridge can be totally or partially covered with fog and the pics will fail. This happened to us the 1st day, fortunately we could came back a second one and it worked, so don't leave this visit for the last day of your stay in SF since you can leave missing the picture and most important the experience of seeing this beautiful construction. Also, consider there is a lot of traffic on the bridge and also in the way to it.

Beautiful yet I was terrified!!. I'm scared of heights. I didn't walk across. Even though we saw mothers running with thier babies is strollers going pass, and kids walking with their parents. I couldn't do, I froze at the start.

Stop on the North side Vista point. When your done taking pictures take a drive down the two lane road across to the other side, west of the bridge. There you can get some Beautiful pictures and you will be above the Golden gate bridge with a view that you won't believe.

I'm not even a tourist and I never get tired of coming through (given the opportunity) and just stare at this majestic landmark.

Yes, I've been here many times and each time is always breathtaking.

A few tips:
1) Take the time to see it from more than one viewpoint. I would suggest three off the Sausalito side. (Bottom at the park, bridge level, then up the hill.) Each experience is different, TRUST. You can walk on the bridge if you're on the correct side. if you happen to park at the biker's only side, there is a walkway under the bridge to lead you to the opposite/walking side.

2) Parking is free at all three spots.

3) Bathrooms at the hill is pretty nasty. Bring your own tissue and antibacterial gel.

Whether it's clear of fog is hit and miss. Weather and season play significant roles on that outcome.

It goes without saying that a trip to San Francisco isn't complete without seeing this bridge. It's rusty red and not decked in gold, but still pretty.

There are many spots to view the bridge. I'll mention a few here, all are FREE to visit:

1) Northern tip of San Francisco peninsula. Look for "Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center", "Fort Point National Historic Site", "Crissy Field", or "Battery Cranston". You'll see the bridge up close. Any time of day is good for photos.

2) Marin Headlands. The views here are more impressive because in addition to the bridge, you'll also see the equally beautiful San Francisco skyline. The downside is that on a sunny day, there's a lot of glare from the sun so you might be disappointed with your photos. Sunset is a great time to visit though. Look for "Golden Gate Bridge View Vista Point", or "Battery Spencer", or drive to the end of Marina Road.

3) Fisherman's Wharf. Everyone goes here so while you're here, why not check out the bridge? You won't see it up close though, so you need a zoom camera. I listed this because you can take a ferry here (for a very hefty fee) and see the bridge up close. The ferry will even sail directly under the bridge.

4) The bridge itself. You can cross the bridge on foot, along the east sidewalk, the side facing downtown. There is direct access to this sidewalk from the Welcome Center or Vista Point. You can also bike on both east and west sidewalks, but bring your own (no rentals). Note that walking or biking is only allowed during daytime hours. Check their website for the actual hours.

Some more practicalities:

1) There is a toll for driving along the bridge. There are several payment options, and your choice depends largely on how often you will use the bridge. More info on tolls is available on their website. We paid $8.20 for each round-trip crossing.

2) Check the weather forecast and bring layers as necessary. Clear blue skies and mild weather aren't always guaranteed.

Have a great time!

Go early morning. I went during afternoon, when the fog already takes control of the bridge. It is scary and so high over the bay. I felt tempted to grab those plenty of quarter coins thrown the handrail-like thing at the most outer part of the bridge. I love those 2 or 3 sustained columns, so retro-futuristic mood.

The bridge itself is magnificent. San Francisco not so much. Perhaps if the stench of the city wasn't quite so yucky it would have been much better. I'm sure it's not that way for the locals, but on that day the smell was of offal, rotting fish and other things. For someone else it could be an adventure, just not for me.

The view of Golden Gate Bridge makes your jaw drop. It is tall, and beautiful. The wind and noise make it little hard to enjoy but once you get adjusted to that, you will definitely find the view fantastic. I would not rate this on the same level as Brooklyn Bridge but definitely a must visit.

It's a tourist stop, no doubt, but it's also glorious in its scope. We went to Fort Baker (Coast Guard base) and hiked up from there. You can see the SF Bay from parts of the trail; we even saw a couple of whales from one point! Eventually we reached the Bridge---at that point we could have crossed it, but opted to go to the highest vantage point and get a view of the whole bay and Bridge.

San Francisco is definitely the place I immediately felt in love with during my USA Tour from east to westcoast.
It was amazing to the Golden Gate Bridge in real life after I saw it in thousands of movies!
If you ever have the chance, dont miss to visit it!
